OH Thank yo so much, that did it.
Thanks Zombie_Man -
Vista 64 bit
I looked through the Vista issues thread, but couldn't find anything.
It has worked in the past without fail, so..... -
Yes, I open it through the updater and verified files
-
After logging in successfully, I am unable to choose a server.
The names of the servers are replaced with this code:
"Coh /FromStub=trueWorldServer_6" (number at the end varies)
If I click on one I get the following error:
"Wrong game version, run patcher and reconnect, server
18.20090422.5T, client could not find registry key."
I've run the patcher and I still get this error, unless
I'm missing something very obvious." -
Damn I leave for one week. And look what happens.
Sorry I'm late.

Yes. It would be fantastic. Especially if it involved actually playing the game.

Being a game where most of the game is progressing your character.
And a company that needs to compete with other companies.
It seems a little like schools giving better grades for going home at night, just so more students will attend there. -

I logged near the burrito place the other day and when I logged back in she was coming out of the door for some reason... I never did a mission with her or anything (just trick or treating) so now I believe it is her destiny! to work at the mexican restaurant... even though she is Indian (from India not native american). We should be able to work there even if it is for s---- and giggles.
[/ QUOTE ]
She was prolly using their bathroom. After all how long did you leave her there? -
I say we get one extra costume slot for our alter-ego.
Our info will change accordingly to reflect our job with no reference to our super powered being -

I feel I should add here that I find this "Day Jobs" idea mildly disturbing. It seems a precursor to incorporating "Secret Identities" to this game. If you look at the way this game is structured, the backstory behind it requires that everyone must register to be a superhero. You have to register. This means your identity is known to the government. There are no secret identities in Paragon City.
[/ QUOTE ]Now where did you get THAT idea? While, yes, heroes do register, there is nothing I've seen that indicates that they are required to register with their real identity, or any identity other than their superhero name.........
[/ QUOTE ]
my thoughts exactly, some heroes might be reformed criminals and therefore known to officials and the public. Others may or may not register with their real i.d. or any at all, since maybe they don't trust who they are registering with, or have a family to protect from exposure or danger. In fact, I can't imagine any hero would compromise the image of their super-identity by exposing their mundane life.
Besides, can you imagine a paparazzi shot of Castle's alter-ego scratchin his butt at Starbucks.
Criminal and villains would be posting that up in their lair, just in case he raided the place. -

NecessaryEvil, did you just... quintuple-post?

I sit behind a desk at a very boring job......so yes.
It probably won't be the last multiple post.
I'll try to keep it to a minimum though. -
OK, this post is full of win.
Lets say your day job was 'technician'.
Lets then say, then, that your a technician and a member of an SG.
Lets say your generator goes on the fritz. You got 5 minutes to go fix it or
the power goes out in your SG. You can still fix it after it goes out, but there is (minimal) interference with the base operation itself. Of, course it would be a glowie that only someone with that job title could fix.
That would be hilarious......after all who else can they trust to maintain their base other then themselves.
[Meanwhile, somewhere on a random mission map, the tank says, "Damn, brb, gotta go fix the generator."] lmao.
Of course, you could have job specific missions related to your job.....specific contacts, etc.
[Maybe a 'boss' that you never see but that you get as soon as you get a job. Cellphone contact only]
</random thought> -
Just tell me to shut up already.
[Hero - Hunter:] [Villain - Poacher]
Forested areas - anywhere
Accolade: One straight hour of double credit toward badge hunting.
(i.e. One tank Boss now counts as two toward the Tank Smasher badge.
Mentoring badges are gained twice as fast for that hour.)
Limitation would be anything that states a preset number, like debt and inf badges.
Maybe combine with a Military type badge to add a stealth bonus. -

Take this job: Medivac (Credit: Aett_Thorn)
And combine it with this one: Pilot (Credit: Captin_Potato)
To get this accolade: Hospital Pilot
RESULT: A small interruptible ally heal which grants the caster 7 seconds of high speed hover. Recharge: Painfully long (Villainside due to Captain's Pilot badge..)
[/ QUOTE ]
How about Evacuation Team Pilot, with a limited charge teleport ally power instead.
Just an idea. -
Hero - Humble Submission: (or Humble Assistant)
Near trainers
Accolade: Tactics of some sort
Villain - Fearful Subservience: (or Fearful Apprentice)
Near Arbiters
Accolade: Tactics of some sort -
Here's a tough one to get:
Traitor: red and blue
As close to the crashed rikti ship as you can get. (or on it if you've if you suddenly grow a set of...)
Accolade:
A temp power that calls on a rikti Mentalist - 5 charges (like Amy's Ward)
another one
Willing Corruption: red
Lord Recluse's Statue
Accolade: Accuracy / Damage increase
Power of Responsibility: blue
I was thinking Atlas statue, or maybe also Talos statue (the prominent hero statues)
Accolade: Defense and Resistance increase -
Superman actually burnt the turkey, during the dinner party with Louis Lane, his alter-ego Clark Kent, and Lacy Warfield the bosses daughter. (if memory serves)
I think it was Superman IV
don't hurt me too bad if I got it wrong. -
Heroes don't need to get paid per say.
They probably get all their meals comped.
Besides Superman burnt the turkey, remember. -
[ QUOTE ]
Undertaker - in graveyards. I'd say to give this dayjob a single foe res and or regen debuff.
Rocket Scientist - the rocket in Warburg. Log out for three days and come back with one third of the rocket code! Log our for 50 and have one permanently.
[/ QUOTE ]
That would be full of win, except you would have to have a 24hr recharge on the permanent power -
[Hero - Man on the Inside( or Infiltrator)] [Villain - Double Agent (or Spy, or something)
[Villain bases if your a hero.] [Hero bases if your a villain]
Stealth bonus
[Hero - Photo Journalist (maybe already suggested)] [Villain - Paparazzi]
In front of Icon / Tailors, movie theaters / amphitheatres, etc.
Bonus???
Hitchhiker - both?
near any exit (or maybe in the middle of any street. lol)
travel bonus
[Hero - Dark Watcher's Surrogate] [Villain - Recluse's Bird of Prey]
On top of certain skyscrapers
+% Accuracy
[Hero - In the Loop] [Villain - Conspiracy Theorist]
radio or any broadcasting tower
Bonus??? -
[ QUOTE ]
unfortunately, they've already decided on the implementation.
[/ QUOTE ]
So then they nerf it in I14. lol -
I am still a noob when it comes to these kinds of discussions, but here goes.
Vets are pissed that stuff is just handed to noobs, when they have worked their digital rear-ends off earning everything they have. I whole heartedly agree.
My suggestions would be to make the Day Job part of your initial build. Or like travel powers or APPs, something you CHOOSE at say... level 10.
Or maybe even a vet reward itself.
You could create an in game "Recruiter" contact (or similar) that would help you choose. Maybe give you a mission or two (like the tailors), sort of like applying for the job .
(An Unemployment Office would be epic hilarity. 30 x level 50 heroes in line waiting for the job counselor. LMAO)
You would earn said bonuses whether you are in the game or not. Nobody is penalized for playing or not playing. In fact I propose a cap on what you can earn while not playing.
Also if we are going to have an actual alter-ego, we should be able to have aliases to match.

Why the fudge 30 days? Given that an in game day is 30 minutes, that means if you have to spend 720 hours off-line your character has "worked" 1,440 days to get a single badge.
[/ QUOTE ]
1440 days is 4 years, like a college diploma. And the badge I consider to be my career certification credentials. And the extra bonuses, after getting the badge is like moving from paid intern to employee with benefits. LOL
On a different note:
I want to log out in someplace like the Council base and get rewarded with an extra stealth ability, earning my way to a "Man on the inside" badge.
OR....
Logout in a PVP zone hero / villain base and get a tactical bonus (offensive or defensive), earning my way to a "Tactical Mercenary" or "Military Consultant" badge. (Fun for heavy PVPers)
OR....
Logout near a Base Portal and get a Prestige bonus, earning my way to some sort of 'Keeper of the Sanctuary"' badge (help on the name).
And what about Cimerora or Ouroboros, maybe a "Quantum Diplomat" badge with with a teleport temp power. meh
I will probably end up with a lot of (good/bad) ideas about job description.
