Because your going about it all wrong is why.

Trust me, i've had an idea for a TA comic for years now but i wouldn't dream of coming on the boards and asking someone to work for probably a year and then some to get paid.

You just can't say i'll give you a percentage of the profits if and when it gets off the ground. Thats bad business all the way around.

You got screwed before because you didn't have a contract. Plain and simple. If i were an artist or writer i'd either get a contract or sell it per panel. That would be my suggestion to you. Find an artist you wanna work with and order panels. Pay per page and offer them a percentage of the end sales IF it ever gets any profit.

Coming on the boards and demanding art for free with years before they may see anything from it is ludicris. Come on now.

Relax. It isn't ludicrous, alright?. I've seen other writers and artists request help before on other forums some paying, some for free. Especially on ComicJobz.com before it was shut down and on ComicSpace.
  2. Im sorry, lol. I just had some really bad luck with the recent 3 artists and it's left me cynical as hell I admit. Obviously, not all artists are like this but for the most part, I've had no luck with finding the right one that balances their love for their craft and money.

Looking great there! Now I want to play my Steampunkian girls again...

BTW, there is a Victorian-era themed SG on Protector, the SPI. And yes, it is fun to have a bunch of them running around

    [/ QUOTE ]

Really? Who runs it?? How can I contact them?

Everyone, let's make Virtue the unofficial Pulp/Golden Age server!

    [/ QUOTE ]

Id love that but each time I go on Virtue, my connection slows down a loooooooot which is frustrating because the other servers are fine for me.
  5. The Legend of America, the Black Book Detective, Dr. Simon Castle and Cpt. Endyion Graves. It's as if the League of Extraordinary Gentlemen had opened up a Paragon City Chapter.

There is something about playing with a group of like-minded players which makes it so thrilling. Especially when they RP as their characters

Group shot #1 - Waiting dramatically in the sewers

An American version of the LoEG?
  6. Bloomer Girl is ingenious! The link isnt working for the good Chancelloer
  7. Ladies & Gents.. I am so GLAD to see so many pulp/Golden & Silver Age fans here!
  8. This is Dr. Simon Castle with his patented "Spring Blade Fencing Gauntlets"
  9. ALL Great heroes!

Comrade Hero, I remember you when I first logged on as the American Paladin!
  10. The Masked Shrike is just so cool! Maybe one day the Scarlet Specter and the Red Phantom should meet!
  11. Show me your pulp and Golden & Silver Age heroes/villains, everyone! Even if they are on other posts, I'd love to see them together on one thread!

The Ghost's Hand - evil wizard from Shanghai, China

    Still tweaking the Avenging Skull ( here's the original) - 1 , 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7

A Golden Age group... The Fighting Patriots -
American Eagle, American Paladin and American Bulleteer

The Rockabilly Samurai reminded me of the Greatest Movie Ever Made.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Yes, you found out one of the inspirations! That is a GREAT movie. Buddy Holly and the American Wasteland! Well, 6 String Samurai really but it's still a GREAT movie!!!

Are they red or blue? (I ask because Red Phantom's screenies look like they're taken in Breakout.)

I have a Dark Defender pulp hero on Virtue and another on Liberty, but I really just made them as placeholders until Dark Blasters can be made, since I already have two other Dark Defenders and Dark Scrappers. (I have something of an alt problem.)

    [/ QUOTE ]

I made Red first in CoV to test out everything on a friend's account before I made the game.

    Arent making alts GREAT??

I really like the Red Phantom.
I watched those videoes, and now I also like that blind archer(name escapes me at the moment).
You mentioned something about a novel and/or a comic? Do you have any of it (preferably the comic) to see yet?

Also do you play any of these characters?

    [/ QUOTE ]

the webcomic is at http://www.comicspace.com/nycpulpadventures/ (I had to drop the artist.. he had gotten lazy and im looking for a new one)

the info for the novel is in my sig. all i need is to save up enough $$ for a cover artist and self publishing

The blindfolded archer is called the Quiet Man and yep i play as the Red Phantom (magical tanker)

and here is a wiki on the Red Phantom and there is a link to his rival, the Quiet Man

  15. okay here is the skinny:
For Liberty users - I'm on as the Red Phantom (one of the founders). If you want to join, look for me and I'll add you w/o any hesitation. The base is built for the founders (Phantom and Challenger Storm) so dont be surpised when you see a science/tech side and an occult side. Once we get more prestige, ill add more rooms for new members and ill grant base editing abilities

    Virtue users -
Storm and Red has been created and we're forming another group but we're just at level one. we'll keep you posted!
  16. you should join Storm and Red's pulp group! you got great characters!
  17. Thank you, Ironik! I like yours too.. Especially the Wicked Garden Gnome seeing as how I got a gnome in the living room window.

John Bull is really cool. In fact last night, I was trying to come up with a WW2 English mystery man once I saw that stylized lion. I almost gave up on it but seeing your hero has inspired me to keep thinking.
