The Auto shields are always on, so cost no endurance but they are quite a bit weaker than the toggles, and rightly so.
SR needs the whole set of powers to be chosen, simple as thatIf you rely on one thing to stay alive you should take as many of that type of power in your build as possible. Another example of this would be a /regen taking all of his heals and health from fitness, but I think it is even more important for defense sets as you are always playing a gambling game. More defense gives you better odds of coming out of a fight alive.
Note/Tip: Taking pool powers etc for a small defense boost is a good thing. But!... (and it's a big but).... slotting that power beyond the intial slot to increase that boost is a waste of time. So I wouldn't even bother slotting anything for defense that doesn't come from SR. -
Not sure if the PvP cone bug has been fixed yet, that would account for it not working on opponents without status protection. Basically all ranged cone attacks wouldn't/won't hit a moving target.
-
My 2p
Drop a recharge out of Hack and slice, they are fast enough with 1, drop a resistance out of resilience it's hardly doing anything, drop the slots out of health. Put these gained slots towards properly slotting tactics/assualt and tp foe if you intend to use it seriously in PvP.
And like others have said, you have Hasten in the build, so IH should be there fully slotted aswell. -
[ QUOTE ]
Tough mobs (eg purple bosses)? Lots of parrys, disembowel and headsplitter.
[/ QUOTE ]
Only parry here, see no problem, but parry will lower dps.
[ QUOTE ]
Small numbers of foes (soloing minions/lts)? HS, Disembowel, Hack, Parry.
[/ QUOTE ]
Again only parry to lower dps.
[ QUOTE ]
Lots of mobs (teams really) HS, Diembowel, WS, Slice.
[/ QUOTE ]
Only WS used so the damage over time will compensate for another long animation attack in the chain.
[ QUOTE ]
And sometimes, I'll do some other chain if the circumstances require (for example, if for some reason I had to tank for a group - which I can do for smaller groups - I'll use parry, Slice and WS, to boost my def and hit as many mobs as possible)
[/ QUOTE ]
And yup on this last one it's more of a crossover task, where your not doing your primary function and your dps will suffer.
So you see indirectly we do agree that in most normal attack chains either WS or Parry is used, to use both is too much of a sacrifice, the only time you say you are prepared to do this is when damage isn't the number one factor, hitting as many things as possible and staying alive is
So Whirling Sword is quite situational, and in my PvP leaning builds I can/would never fit it in. -
I've been mulling it over in my head, being massively biased towards Broadsword
I could only think of one thing Katana can do better. Utilise the secondary effect of the set more because of the quicker attacks
Also yeah Katana in a left handed stance just looks kift and so wrong :E
*Edit* Kift is a colloquialism, usually used to describe how say a left-handed person looks using something designed for a right-hander. Kinda awkward, pretty useless, and an accident waiting to happen*Edit*

Broadsword own katana with closed eyes in terms of coolness and damage
[/ QUOTE ]
QFT Katana FTL! :P
In a roughly same build bs/regen to katana/regen fight i'd bet on the bs to win everytime -
O.k. taking something and using it constantly in your chain is different
Yes Whirling sword is nice for some AoE damage but there's no way i'd include it in a normal attack chain, especially not with Parry aswell. Broadsword is about dealing as much damage as possible to clear one target from infront of you as quickly as possible, and then move onto the next, that's how I see it anyway, and I make my builds accordingly
-
Looking one hell of a lot sharper
I would still drop Revive like a stone tho, Swift or Hurdle is better even if you already have one of them imo
Personally i'd drop Whirling Sword aswell, the animation times in BS mean taking and using both Parry and WS constantly your dps is going to go down the toilet, not really what you want
If you can fit in Hasten it's a godsend on the long recharges of the top /regen powers, and really helps BS's burst damage capabilities with Disembowel and Headsplitter. -
As Steampunk says Resilience by itself in a PvE build isn't that much use, only reason to take is for mezz's finishing quicker and you dont need slots in it for that. I found out the 3rd slot in Resilience doesn't add that much, so even if you keep the power, don't go above 2 slots in it. Resilience 2 slotted and tough 3 slotted with resistance gives about 25% smashing/lethal.
Side note on MoG, even in PvE it's a bit poo without slotting correctly. You really need 1 resistance, atleast 2 defense, aswell as, as many recharges as you can throw at it

I would get build up earlier it proves very usefull.Plus a good move which i like alot lol 25 enrages + Headsplitter= Instant Death...for most things and takes a good chunk of a AV too.
[/ QUOTE ]
The build on the front page is old, the one above these posts is the most recent, and the one I now intend to go with. On this build I cannot fit buildup in at any possible earlier level because i've taken it at level 6 -
Your friends builder is old Ken, since ED perma hasten is no longer possible without help from other players. ED makes it pretty much useless to slot anything with more than 3 of the same type enhancment. Maths'ish explaination, at the 100% boost of base mark enhancements stop giving any noticible increase, maybe your nice 4th SO in hasten will only give 5% and from a base of 30%odd percent that's a big waste
-
Yup spot on Krunch
Could maybe get away with a Blapper/Stalker cross aswell using defiance and aim+bu with invis and superspeed. It would certainly hurtalthough the fly/snipe option is maybe safer.
-
Hey Ken you don't have to do all the colours and stuff yourself dude
Try this builder for both CoH and CoV http://sherksilver.coldfront.net/index.php
After you have your build and saved it, just press export then short forum export, it pops up a box with all the stuff/text in, just press copy button, then you can paste into your post, voila. -
I wouldn't use a Scrapper for this, another high damage hero AT maybe....
If you are settled on a Scrapper though, I would suggest Broadsword aswell. The other night in Warburg I was having some probs with a stormie and a bubbler. After a while the bubbler was left on his own and was starting to look bored, so I ate 2 reds and legged it up behind him, hit BU and dropped him in 1 hit with a critical Headsplitter -
Yup some very good points again Gorgog. Seeing as the subject was mainly based around the Psi Blast secondary, I will say this, even if you plan to make a Support build there is no reason why you shouldn't have TK and WD and use them whenever possible.
My last words are on the subject, underestimate Psi damage at your peril -
[ QUOTE ]
Yes, while with the right amount of Buff's and Debuffs, you can do reasonable damage (though with the same buff/debuff ratio pretty much any other AT will outdamage you by far, sadly *sigh*), Lode's Defender is Empathy/Psi.
Empathy isn't big on the self buffs, especially when coming to damage. So yes, you can get some kills, and yes, you can aid a team blasting, but I personally feel there are other things you can be doing than throwing large chunks of moderately painful blasts, for reasonably large end cost, at people.
[/ QUOTE ]
Yeah you make a reasonable point incase for emp/psi, it's just in your first statement you said ALL defenders which I still don't agree with. Also I don't see how your buff/debuff argument holds water, how could another AT have self-buffed Psi damage that much appart from in a team situation(I'm refering to solo). Theres what only a Mind/ Controller that can even compare and that's it... -
Hehe, both of us cannot be wrong
I know it's true because I get as many kills with my Rad/Psi in PvP as I do with my Broadsword/Regen Scrapper, maybe even more... -
[ QUOTE ]
...snip...as Defender Damage is lacklustre at best...snip...
[/ QUOTE ]
Just gotta pull you on this one, yes it's not amazing massive highest damage in game, but with psi dmg + enervating field + assualt + AM + 3 dmg SO's, I wouldn't call BrainZ's damage lacklustre, especially in PvP where virtually no-one can defend against your damage. -
As MaX says get, slot and love TK blast and Will Dom, everytime I see a Psi without these I cry a little inside
Yes they really are that good, the fast animation times on them is hard to beat. Slotted with recharge, and say with hasten up, just chaining those two attacks constantly will be your highest ST damage output. On my rad/psi offender BrainZ that is the route I took, dropping a subdue in there if needed, and he can shred just about anything including Tanks in PvP.
-
I'm not experienced with MA at all but I can help with general Scrapper stuff and Regen, with a PvP slant
My initial advice on accuracy would be, you need to decide whether or not your going to get Focus Accuracy from Body Epic and Tactics from Leadership. With either one of these slotted up two accuracy is more than enough for a PvP build. With both of them I wouldn't slot more than one accuracy, with Focus Chi in your case slotted for a tohit buff or two to ensure hitting even the hardest of targets, one is fine
Nothing worse I find as a Scrapper than fighting things you cannot hit -
I've got Weapon Mastery atm, tbh I regret dropping Focus Acc everytime I try to play him now. So Body Mastery all the way here
with FA + Tactics I should just be able to SS around Stalker and Squishy hunting and rack up kills fairly easily. Also I have 2 ranged powers in that current build, ok not as great range with 1 of them being a cone compared to the shurikens, but they are there and are Energy and half Energy attacks so will be less resisted. Yeah Caltrops are nice, but a couple of Reds + BU + Assualt + Headsplitter + Disembowel, I don't think many squishies will be standing long enough to escape if I suprise them
and if they do I can still chase them down with SS + ranged attacks + air sup, to stop them.
I'm selling myself on this build more and more
*Edit* Happy Birthday Jericho, just noticed*Edit*

Just like to reiterate again, this is a pure PvP build for an already lvl50
Here's me latest attempt, seems to be the strongest solo PvP build sofar. Think I'll subtitle him 'Stalker Eating Endurance Hog of Impending Knockback Do0o0om' ....catchy :E

Am I getting close you reckon?Still miss fighting pool though, really wanted to fit it in build somewhere
-
Yeah you raise a good point Steampunk, after considering last night in bed I realised one reason why I originally had WW, Stalker mitigation. Look's like its back to the drawing board to fit Leadership in, this time I prolly will have to lose fighting
-
Hehe I was one man against the World
And it sooo wouldn't be like me to play to the strengths of Regen and TP away for a little so I can gain HP then come back... nowt gained by dieing to 3-4 people hehe -
O.k. just produced a new, what I would call, basic 'cookie cutter' build, designed to be as 'ard as possible

I'm not sure on my power pool choices. I know for what I want I only have 2 Power Pools spare and a choice of 5 powers (i'm keeping fitness and fighting no matter what). So Speed, Teleport, Leaping, Flight and Medicine are all up for grabs, what would you pick for this build and why?
