  1. I think I will, if I can find it in the store. :-S (I'm at work until 5 pm CST).
  2. ...and I'm out of slots on Freedom to make an electric blaster/something or other.
*sigh* time to buy a slot or five...
  3. Heyas, I'll be around for whatever folks are doing, if you want a spare gun.

I have two fifties who need badges, a spade of twenties who need something to do, and... erm. Twentyish alts I need to get off the ground.
  4. Posi however, was a dev even in beta. He played a Rikti commander during the closing event... indeed, he was the very person we were targeting in the Steel Canyon version whereupon we figured out targeting him and healing wasn't landing on whoever he had targeted.
Yep. Bug right there at the end of beta: if a Dev was in a toon, he was a player toon... thus, the defenders/controllers who were trying to heal whoever he was attacking were actually healing him.

We figured that out after a thirty-forty person wipe (I still have screenies somewhere). Anyway, each of the devs had a Rikti commander they ran, with derivations off their usual hero name. I think his was something like Commander Pozil'in or something.
  5. Important in a sequel should it ever come out:
*infinite alt slots. :-S (I'll take 255. Per server. Erm. at least fifteen servers, if the 255 slots is the option we get.)
  6. Re: opposite of Recluse. Defining attribute: he who watches, controls, manipulates, and traps. The eight arms on the back are just a side bit, to show power.

Bizarro Recluse options: Agitator, Detractor, Extrovert, Firebrand, Herald, Inquisitor, Instigator, Provocateur, Revolutionary, Watchman, or Witness.

Same-idea-but-ruthless options: Ascetic, Cenobite, Eremite, or Solitary. I like that last one, might use it.

(just off the top of my head... altitis is a bad, bad thing)

Edit: doh, two weren't in alphabetical order.

I would of sworn in beta Calvin Scott TF was active. I forget why they removed it but it should be re-added. I also would of sworn Positron said he would bring it back.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Story reason, I think. I vaguely remember it needed removed and updated for something they did to one of the signature heroes.
  8. Nice; like the announcement, then... very cool.
  9. [ QUOTE ]
The least painful way would be just revamp a piece at a time (engines aren't monolithic!), pushing them out as they finish. And for the billionth time, they've been doing that

    [/ QUOTE ]

Aye. Well, it's obvious to someone like me, anyway... this isn't the same engine I remember at launch/early days/etc. I went back through my old videos/gameplay notes/etc. before deciding to go full bore again seven-eight weeks ago. Oro missions even allowed me to compare the *same* mission between my old video and the current flavor.

Most of these posts are kind of hypocritical.

Your mostly upset that players are now making the game easy on themselves by leveling up quickly in AE.

It's hypocritical because the real reason your upset is because you want to make the game easier by inviting players on your task force team that know what they're doing instead of just teaching someone how to play and informing them.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Now that's some pretty warped logic right there...

    [/ QUOTE ]

Sign me up for warped logic then, because I kind of agree with him.

When I see folks who have no clue what they're doing on my team, I don't sigh, I just enjoy the extra challenge. YMMV.

No team wipes because of one, two or even seven players out of eight ; the only one responsible for your own death is yourself, and using newbies as a scapegoat won't change that fact.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Still, there IS something to say about playing against the level and difficulty you've survived against. There's a mental bit to that, not just the... erm... "physical" part. Since the "farms" seem to cater to making the targets easier to knock out, there is a bit of a perception issue.

Perhaps the best solution is simply modifying the baseline of what a level 54 lewy/boss/etc. can be in killing in an AE mission.
  11. [ QUOTE ]
Unlike Perez Park however, there are actually missions, contacts, and even a Trial, the Cavern of Transcendence, in the Hollows, so there's a real reason to be there. I'll take story arcs over street sweeping almost anytime.

    [/ QUOTE ]

And a bed to rez in. Dagburnit, Hazard Zones are to be... hazardous! Rezzing in zone. pfft. I mean, without all that delay traveling back from the other zone, how do you really feel the risk in getting in over your head?

That's how to really learn aggro ranges!

Sorry. Been collecting those badges lately. Where's the troll badge?
  12. [ QUOTE ]
(Is 15 a lot of alts? Cuz if it is that is different too.)

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Erm.
    *Embarrassed laugh*
I have thirty non-level fifties (all of which are 22 or under) on my main server. Couldn't stop making them... can't stop making them... I'm considering actually buying more slots as I've had some cool character ideas and no slots...

(I have three other servers full, both accounts, of nothing but concept costumes... until I have a story, they are just there with powersets/costumes until I can think of a story. And, I'm not a RPer.)
  13. If anything, I suspect the days of sequelized MMO titles will be over, soon.
I mean, look at EVE and some of the other MMOs... they stay updated with occasional graphics updates, core engine updates, etc.

At a guess, that name was reserved to keep the option of expanding into that, in the long term.

Think about this: Cryptic is soon to have CO launched. NCSoft has CoX launched; both are likely to contribute to a new, fairly fertile ground.

This is likely to lend itself into thinking about how to expand. CO can simply expand, as the title of the game isn't limited to a single area. CoH is as is CoV; combined, right now, it's more of North American Continent of Superpowered than either City of.

Thus, likely expansions of the non-extradimensional kind will likely lead directly to a World of... scenario. After all, just because there is a nexus of superpowered right now in the story line, doesn't mean it will stay there.
  14. [ QUOTE ]
I liked the Hollows more before the revamp, personally. Some of my toons have run through there, pre-travel power, and before I knew to get the temps from safeguards. It was a very good lesson in learning aggro ranges and how to avoid the aggro, something a lot of players probably could use a lesson in.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Been looking at the new-fangled Hollows you all are speaking of (didn't get a chance to see the old one), and I still think PP did a better job. But, I remember PP with more mobs.... barb-wire pants, uphill both ways, causing massive server lag by side-swiping all the groups and leading them to the dead-end, etc.

On a solid note, thanks to the communities of Freedom (and, to a lesser extent, Virtue) for helping shake off some of my rust! I literally hadn't run a TF since beta and I've been in two this week (and been offered two more, dag burn need for sleep).
  15. [ QUOTE ]
lol, Sounds like when we have company come over.... my husband, I love him dearly, but he just keeps talking when it's time for people to leave . They are trying to inch their way to the door, and he keeps thinking of things to say!

I've even pinched him on the arm to hint that he should let our poor guests escape, and yet he continues.

Sounds like you had the same, only reversed last night

    [/ QUOTE ]

I resemble that. My folks (who are now retired, working in real estate here in town) moved considerably away from the "home networks" both had (dad's related to the traditional South, mom was born in Flint, MI). They moved this far north (four and a half hours away from where dad's folks lived) just so my paternal grandparents would stop visiting at six a.m.

Now, at the advanced age of thirty-two-nearly-three, I find when I *am* talking with either side of the family, it takes a good solid hour or so, for a five-minute goodbye!
  16. Muse of Destruction: Protest the unfair treatment of demons!
TREV0R: demons enjoy the unfair treatment
Childe: Why? They make GREAT workers. Don't even have to pay 'em
Supreme Soviet: Hey, am I seeing this right? Does Ract here NOT have his entourage of hovering Mu around him? Or is it just me?
Childe: they disappeared a while back
Muse of Destruction: I don't see them either
Supreme Soviet: They were here earlier today.
Gabriel Keats: Me either. Saw them this afternooon though
Supreme Soviet: Right... huh. Great. There's a Mu Guardian convention somewhere.
    Gabriel Keats: Be afraid
Supreme Soviet: Whatever you do, don't read their self help pamphlets.
    TREV0R: to late I joined
Childe: True. Instead, plant lightening rods
Hatake Kasumi: Definitely leave your umbrella in the car.
Muse of Destruction: Just remember, without Mu, there'd be no one to knock on the doors of jehovah's witnesses homes to hand out pamphlets to them
Supreme Soviet: *opens pamphlet* When listening to your children, remember to take joy in the finer things: Their laughter, the good times, the bad times, and your unswerving dedication to the Great Master Pazuzu, From Whom All Things Go in Death.

    Sci-Fi -vs- SyFy

    [ QUOTE ]
I will say the new motto bothers me more: "Imagine greater" is just linguisticly uncomfortable to my brain.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Bothers me, too, as my brain fills in "Imagine greater than SciFi. We know what we are doing."
For some reason, I keep seeing a certain PsiCop smiling when I hear/see that.

The chills it causes, the chills.
  18. If you need a fill, I have a dark/dark corr by the name of Childe.
  19. Reichsman, Statesman, Tyrant:
Given that all three are variants of the same person, same event, same powersets (roughly), this is an excellent evolution versus environment lore to examine.

Given that Statesman turned good because of his wife, Recluse turned bad because of his sister marrying States, what is the state of Reichsman's significant other or lack of on his choice with the 5th column and helping take America for the Axis?

I mean, is the Reichsman Statesman without a love?

How would Tyrant and Reichsman get along? (I am assuming not well due to how they differ in regards to how they lead their versions of the Phalanx)

Reichsman, Recluse-Primal, Ms. Liberty-Primal: catalyst for redemption in that mix, anywhere?

    Edit:
This has been bugging me for a while, but Sister Airlia, is she different from Ghost Widow? Just the Cimerorian version? Or is there a further connection between the two (ancestor/same person/etc)?

Agreed. But as an aside, i don't think I've ever taken an hour to gather a tf at 50. Ever.

And there are some minor ways of knowing if the person is an AE baby.

For instance if I put out a call for an ITF, and someone asks "what's an ITF?" or what's "the Midnighter's Club" in VU2009 for instance, I sure as HELL am NOT going to invite someone like that on my ITF.

    [/ QUOTE ]

That doesn't automatically mean it's an AE baby. A player who has been away from the game a long time wouldn't know these things right away, either.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Erm, even I know what an ITF is. Find a old newbie older/recently returned than me, myself, or I. Found it rather fast, exploring the "new" regions. Bemoaning that I only have five costume slots, and thinking about which one I want to let lose, once I get on an ITF and get the extra costume options.

(then again, I've been 'back' right at two months. Next up on the list to explore: Stringa, Croatia.)

Us "new" old guys/gals, crusty as we may be, I'll bet did the same thing when we logged into FF: "just WHAT are those buildings over there? hrm..... explore time."

It shouldn't be, Freedom TFs is full i believe, make it is Freedom TF Chat

    [/ QUOTE ]

I think I joined that Monday night; I wasn't on much last night (due to my sister's birthday being yesterday), but I'll check tonight.

Aye, Myrdinn/Myrddin are the respective informal and formal versions of a title Anglo-Saxons mispronounce as "Merlin." SG-1 had a few things right...
...and when you asked me about SG-1, I thought you were the other Joe I knew in over in a Beta that shalt not be mentioned!
  22. It will require strong(er) coffee the next morning at the office, but I will try the Statesman TF, too, if there is room
  23. I'll have Myrdinn there. Vant badge, and someday, repay the kindnesss ya'll have in letting an old, fairly rusty, player back into the mix.

(I also have a fifty on the villian side, if needed for the Wednesdays)

Workin' on the other thirty or so characters, too.

CoV doesn't have hazard zones because it has hazard neighborhoods.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    QFE.

It's mixed neighborhoods. Same model as the Hollows, Striga, Faultline, Croatoa, RWZ, and Cimerora. Notice that after Issue 1, heroside never got any more hazard zones. The idea of a pure hazard zone died four years ago, in fact, by revamping Faultline and the Rikti Crash Site, they *took away* hazard zones from CoH.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I THOUGHT something was different about Faultline. I know my memory was dusty, but I was just recently in there, and it kinda looked the same, but didn't act the same!

Unless, of course, Dr. Aeon and Crey Industries are launching some master plan to get everyone hooked on virtual reality so they can tend to their schemes unobstructed.

"Yes, yes! We shall engage BOTH the Heroes and the Villians so that the former shall stop arresting us and the Villians will not interfere! It's perfect! Futurama showed us the way!" -Countess.

"Erm, um, about the Lucy Liu-bot, I want the only one. Okay?" -Dr. Aeon.
