I wouldnt want to see the ones they thought were rubbish.
Perhaps only 3 people entered.
[/ QUOTE ]
I'd have to agree. None of them are any good. I'm sure the people put a lot of work into them, but, well, they're a bit rubbish. -
[ QUOTE ]
Good one.
I've managed by buying Mrs Mereman a sub to CoH/V
[/ QUOTE ]
Mrs Aardvark got much the same. It works out well -
My very first character was a Katana/Regen. I got him up to level 34 and was so disappointed that I didn't get a new power, that I deleted him in disgust.
Of course, time and experience have made me regret that and I have rerolled him since, but he's sitting at level 32 and has been for about 3 years now.
Maybe one day I'll play him again, but I've got dozens of other alts who are more interesting right now. -
Well if it makes you feel any better, it doesn't show
-
I work with a bunch of people who were displaced from Yorkshire/Leeds a few years ago. Half of then are misers/half of them buy drinks for everyone as often as possible. (I put it down to hysteria when they first showed up, but it's over three years now!)
Stupid lack of proof for stereotypes... -

UK people accepting price hikes? Wow, that's completely unheard of...

not just UK, Scottish. We're not all penny pinchers. Although, TBH, it was kinda a joke, they end up screwing us for the cost of things anyway, at least if we were all getting screwed equally it wouldn't be so bad.
[/ QUOTE ]
Scottish here too. No need to justify a cultural stereotype that I have never EVER seen in anyone I've ever know in my 32.5 years of living in this country, despite people telling me that I'm penny pinching because I'm Scottish. -

It'd be far cheaper and less hassle for Paragon Studios if they just ditched the official forums - we get all our news about the game from Massively and TenTonHammer anyway, long before someone decides to make an official post here...
-
I'd really hope that the low level content ends up either NEW or REVAMPED with this add on.

We tried it once your way, Aardy, are you game for a rematch?

You task me, you task me DW and I shall have y....
No, I'm not finishing that one, invoking as one would the "misconstrued quote on an internet forum" rule
And yes, a moonbase zone would be awesome. -

An arctic jazz lounge, perhaps?

Mmm, arctic breakbeat jazz. Grrrrrrrrrrreat.
Mind you, one-upmanship is a dish best served cold.
It is very cooooollld... in spaaaaaaace...

I spit my last breath at theeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee. -
Yeah Dave, but it's the timing. It's perfectly viable for multiple games across multiple genres to come up with ICE ZONES (heck it's been a staple of games for years).
But when two games in the same genre, with the same theme come up with them at the same time?
Whoever announced it first will get lauded and whoever announces it second, regardless of how COOL it is will just be seen as playing catch up.
An example is, there's always a flurry of similiar movies that follow the same themes which come out around the same time (Jurassic Park/Carnosaur (okay, that's reaching, I'll admit it) Armageddon/Deep Impact, The Matrix/13th Floor etc.)
And there's always one which is remembered (if not lauded) and one which is the object of derision.
I'm a tad concerned that regardless of what we see here and speculate about, the Gaming press will just make a couple of comments along the lines of "WOW CHAMPIONS IS COOL.... and COH copies it because they're rubbish)" and that'll be it for new subscribers.
Obviously, I'm talking about idiots who follow the mass media. Luckily, there's not a lot of those people on the planet....
No wait, we're boned.
(If you can't see a serious message in the midst of all that above, then... oh never mind, just go for it anyway). -
I'm glad you're happy in that universe you live in, whether it's a universe of happy, naive people or a universe of trolls.

I think the strategy is to create new, mroe exotic zones this year, as CO is offering more exotic zones.
[/ QUOTE ]
This looks likely - with tests/comments pointing to both a water/underwater based zone and to space/moon/extra-terrestrial zones.
But they're just the ones that have seemed very likely for quite some time now - I'd guess that a frozen/arctic zone may well be on it's way as well (although this could conceivably be an extra-terrestrial zone).
[/ QUOTE ]
Positron saying that they can make "cool" new zones might hint at an arctic one - especially as he wrote "cool" in big letters
[/ QUOTE ]
That would smack of desperation and copying CO, in my opinion at least. -
Don't get me wrong Dave, those are all valid viewpoints and opinions and I can't say that it won't go that way (it'd be nice if it did).
Well reasoned! -
[ QUOTE ]
Actually, he said they'd rather write TFs right now - just like he said they'd rather make new zones than revamp old ones right now - in both cases, he never said they'd never make anymore arcs or zone revamps again
[/ QUOTE ]
True. He never said never. But rather is still a fairly strong indication from this dev team about what their plans are.
I'd rather they revamp existing zones, redo the lower levels so the stories are more cohesive (revamp them ala COV start), remove hazard zones and actually show some changes to the city as it recovers from the war.
We have a COV mission where you have to disrupt building work in Boomtown. Even just bringing those graphics over into the actual zone would be a step in the right direction.
But that's just what I want. There are multiple other viewpoints out there - some who want the same, many who want different.
And they have a fine balancing act to play - too much one way or the other and they WILL lose players. It's going to be harder to keep players when there's going to be another MMO out there along the same theme. Harder still when there's two or three.
And I hope they're looking that far ahead. -
[ QUOTE ]
With MA splitting off into its own issue, it looks like I16 (and not I15) was now to be the big story based issue,
[/ QUOTE ]
Except for the fact that Posi said they were going to concentrate on SF/TFs and leave arcs to players in the MA (hopefully he just hadn't had his morning coffee at that point though and War Witch has now taken him to task for it). -

I thought it would give us someplace to moan constructively
[/ QUOTE ]
Ouch! Ok as somebody who could be conceivably branded a "Moaner" here I would say that I hope I have never just had a pointless rant. I've always tried to have at least a logical basis for my gripes and I've tried to articulate them as clearly as possible. Sure, I don't always pull my punches - as a customer when my supplier drops the ball I will let them know in no uncertain terms - but I hope when I do "moan" I try and get across what I feel is wrong and why I'm moaning.
Of course not everyone agrees with me - but then not everyone disagrees either. How we react to statements will often be based on our own personal feelings and I'm certainly not alone in thinking that Paragon Studios missed a big opportunity this week.
But for what it's worth my GF also tells me that my new meds have turned me into Mr Grumpy so at least I've got an excuse now
[/ QUOTE ]
That wasn't a dig at you! Hell, I moan here all the time (well, the last few issues anyway). I just thought it'd be nice to moan about something that we could actually quantify (as in "THAT WORD HAS BEEN SPELLED WRONG FOR 8 ISSUES NOW!), rather than "Farming good. Farming bad. Farming Indifferent."
-
That doesn't seem particularly long term...
