You should also add Fire/MM blaster to that list, it can get ALL of it's AoE's before level 10, this is why it's my solo posi toon. It's 4 AoE's (One target, One Rain, and 2 Cones) -

This is how I slot ALL of my dmg auras and it works fantabulously. -
I like my Claw/Fire, 2 Res toggles, 1 Dmg Aura and a click self heal make for a really fun fast killing ST and AoE-tastic scrapper.

Regen will get -10% regen rate if you change it's color tho -
Even though I don't play him much, just for cuz he was my first 50, I will make my Nrg/Nrg's secondary Blue to match. I love the natural Fire/ color with the /MM secondary, but I will be making a Blue Fire/ Blue (or white) EM blaster- Finally creating the very first character I ever created in my head from an early age.

Fire/MM; Arch/MM, Nrg/Elec, Fire/Nrg, Arch/Nrg. All great AoE DMG, with a nice smattering of Single Target.
I Leveled a Fire/MM and a Fire/Ice to around lvl 12 simultaneously, I ceased playing the Fire/Ice in favor of the Fire/MM because Fireball, Firebreath, and Psyscream were too schmexy to pass up, thats what lured me in, then Drain Psyche got me hooked, then PSW made me Squee, now I drop spawns with Fireball, psyscream, PSW, Fireball. I love him. I have a Arch/MM as well at lvl 44 who played the same as my Fire/MM until RoA, then while the playstyle changed, I still prefered the Fire/MM. -
Looks good on paper, but would either be redraw hell, or a coding nightmare, either way seems like fun.

It seems totally random, until you realize that all Sets that were changed had the Tanker or Brute versions of the melee attacks, and Electricity Assault had the Blaster versions.
In other words, everyone has now been averaged so they are in the middle. It was not that Electricity was an outlier, it has just been made consistent with everyone else. Now, the ranged attacks don't seem to have this kind of consistency, unless there is some other factor that I have not yet noticed.
I suppose another alternative would have been to give every Set the same recharge times as Blasters, but that would give them longer recharge than current.

Call me crazy but it doesn't seem random at all. Dom's Assault sets were basically a mix of Def/Tanker powers (for the most part) and then had an AT DMG Mod to match. This doesn't sound like that bad of a thing until you see dom's in action and they have issues that Defenders/Tankers don't have, without the benefits of either a Tank (protection) or Defender (Force Multiplier) dom's were just controllers with a side of weaksauce dmg (barring a few examples). Now they look like they will truly Dominate, Control and Kill, instead of Control and Slow Torture. -
So it does 4 less dmg but recharges 4 seconds quicker and costs 3.4 end less? That's nice, I like that.

I was thinking about this earlier, and was wondering, since /Elec was such a high performer before the change, with the AT DMG Mod being buffed and the power dmg scales being lowered do the powers balance out to around the same dmg that they were at previously?, my test still isn't working and I don't have a high enough level /Elec dom to test, I'm more or less just interested for knowledge sake.

Just wanted to say thanks again. This is my first defender I've been able to play highly. While leveling I like to use "cheap" sets and whatnot and then depending on how much use I'll have after 50 I'll spend the money on it. For example my Claw/WP still has basic IOs while my Claw/Fire is already racking up the recharge/HP/Regen bonuses.

This is the first defender I've gotten past 20 and I really like the Trick Arrow mixed with the Dark Blasts.
I'm just recently 27 so I'm starting to look at IO sets and bonuses and trying to figure out what to slot and where. I've never slotted a Debuff set before, so I'm not sure if I should slot sets, frankenslot or what.
when I Frankenslot my dmg powers I usually go with 90-95% dmg, 40-50% Acc, 30-40% Rech, and whatever end redux I can get (usually 20%), should I follow this same "formula" for the TA powers only instead of dmg it would be whatever the primary debuff is?
Here is my build, and set IO recomendations would be greatly appreciated. (and only sets that are available at or around lvl 30, not purples and what not.

If I remember correctly it wasn't removing a power and replacing it within a set (that I think is just another personal rule) it was literally keeping a power and changing what it does, and Castle's example was removing the +dmg and +tohit and making build-up build a small "cottage" hence the cottage rule. I do believe it originated during the Blaster defiance change/ AT buff discussions which are LONG gone.

If I were gonna build a Fire/Fire blaster this would be the build I'd use.
It's kind of what I did for my Fire/MM blaster, just modified with/for /Fire. I'm not really sure what if any bonuses you went with, but I went for as much global Recharge and Damage, since this is a team AoE build, the Single target attacks are "under" slotted for dmg but trust me they won't be lacking when needed.

2nd'd. On my Claw/FA I'll take eviscerate late (44) just because I'm lacking options at that point. I could try to work in boxing/tough but right now I only have room for one extra power and/or the slots to place in it. Either way, Spin/Shockwave are a better 1-2 then having eviscerate that more then likely turns into an expensive (end+time) single target attack. -
