But if the team is poor and you know it's not good enough to finish the TF, why stick around and waste time?
[/ QUOTE ]
My answer is...because I still get to pew pew pew. I don't mind failing a TF here and there if I still can have fun blasting, defending, etc etc. Sometimes the gimper the team, the more fun I have being a pivtol member, and it then becomes a challenge to succed which is even more fun!
Plus, I get all sorts of great stories about players, missions, etc.
[/ QUOTE ] Earlier I said I'll drop if the team doesn't help me accomplish my goals, and I meant it. But when it comes to a Task Force I usually have two goals. One is the reward(merits, badge, xp, whatever), two is fun. If I don't think goal one is going to be met it is often because it is a poor team, which ruins goal two. At that point, I see no reason to stick around. That being said...
The other day I did an ITF and it was going poorly in the first mission. Half the team quit leaving it just Me(MunkiLord my DM/SR scrapper), my roommate(DB/Inv scrapper), a level 46 MM that didn't want a mentor, and a dominator. Now it had already been a struggle up to that point, but despite that I was still having fun and decided to stick it out not thinking we could possibly finish it.
We got through the first mission, then me and the other scrapper finished the second mission quickly. The third mission is where it got really fun. With only four of us left and the MM and dom dying all the time(nothing against them, my roommate and I both invested a ton of influence in IOs), we started taking on the huge mobs of EBs and it was a fun challenge. Eventually I ran off by myself and soloed Requiem and Romulus(though not at the same time and I used inspirations).
The final mission we had my roommates second account make runs to WW for large inspirations and we eventually took down Nictus Rommie. It was a ton of fun. All in all it took almost two hours, but I'm glad I stuck it through.
This took place after I made my turd post earlier in the thread. -
Awesome, that's what I wanted to know. Thanks. I would think I already have an end reducer slotted there, but I'm gonna check next time I play.
-
I know they go into some later in the thread, but to me it just really depends on your build and what you need/want as far as set bonuses go. So without seeing your planned final build, it's hard to answer that question.

The click protections also use less EPS, don't they?
[/ QUOTE ]
WP IW: .208 EPS
SR PB: .087 EPS
yup.
[/ QUOTE ] But could that possibly change on a high recharge build with PB on auto fire(assuming PB is one slotted with end reduction)? -
[ QUOTE ]
20% chance every 10 seconds for 10 end works out to .2 EPS on average, I believe.
[/ QUOTE ] This is correct.
OP: To expand on what BillZ said, in this thread Umbral shows that the Performance shifter: chance for +end proc is better than anything else you can slot into stamina or quick recovery. So if you only devote one slot, pick the perf shifter proc. -

If you get on a TF team, which cannot be added to, you should stay until the end. I cannot abide jerks who join a TF and leave after two missions

I foresee a lonely old age for you. No kidding, not being sarcastic. This verges on pathological, and I hope for your sake you don't carry it over into real life. If you do, it IS pathological.

[/ QUOTE ]
The last time I saw you ingame, well the only time on your namesake I guess, you were face down in the AE.
My point? I don't have one, was just padding my post count.
[/ QUOTE ] Chances are it was a failed boss farm or AV solo attempt. Whenever my AV solo attempts in AE go bad I usually just log out in mission. -

Again you guys have said nothing insightful,
[/ QUOTE ]
Neither have you.
[ QUOTE ]
go back and reread my past posts carefully.
I said Rommy can be done in 60 seconds, since he rezzes you have to defeat him 4 times.....so divide 60 by 4 you get 15 seconds to kill him the first time (not all 4 times).
[/ QUOTE ]
No one is saying you were claiming he could be killed 4 times in 15 seconds. They're saying you claimed he could be killed 4 times in a minute, which is 15 seconds per kill. Which is complete and utter bull pucky.Sure you can solo him, I can believe that. Sure, on a defender. No, not 4 times in 60 seconds.
And, by the way, tacking on a paragraph that's parroting advice several other posters gave to the OP way back on the first page of this thread does not make your posts any less unhelpful than those from the ones arguing with your fanciful claims of uberness.
'course, yet again, you're not going to even acknowledge me. Curious, if what you claim is possible, why is it all of the long-time powergaming theorycrafters claim it isn't? Why is it that no one, **NO ONE** has come in to back up your claim? Do you seriously expect us to believe there's some super secret that you and only you have discovered?
[/ QUOTE ]
She won't acknowledge me, either. I don't care about this AV soloing business... I just want to know how she could confuse the Cape and Aura missions, while simultaneously claiming that they're impossible to solo at the earliest level possible, if she's so good at the game.
[/ QUOTE ] Simple explanation: She is a liar. -
[ QUOTE ]
Hell, why does everyone always paint "the Tanker" as the big man on the team who's the most important? Pretty much every team I'm ever on doesn't even HAVE a Tanker, yet we still do just fine.
[/ QUOTE ] Honestly, except for very specific encounters, I consider tanks a waste of space. Fact of the matter is, on 99.9% of the missions in this game, in a team setting a well built scrapper is better than a tank. -
[ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ]
Experienced, good, inventive, or crazy players (take your pick) can go beyond these roles with impunity. The most important things any AT brings to the team is that they contribute towards the enemies' defeat, and that they do not contribute to the defeat of the team.
[/ QUOTE ]
..and even the second part can be ignored and still a team c an reap great success.
[/ QUOTE ] Agreed. On the rare occasion that I team and it's a steam roller, I will do my best to pull mobs on top of us until we wipe. Not to grief people, but to stress the team. Basically if I cannot pull enough mobs to make us teamwipe then either the team [censored] rocks or the map/spawn placement sucks. -
<QR>
I was playing nice earlier. Here's the deal. I don't like teaming. So when I do it is for a specific reason. If I feel the team will not help me accomplish whatever goal I'm going for, then I will quit. I won't give notice or anything. I'll just quit the team. I personally don't care if it is a PuG radio team or a task force. If I don't think the team directly benefits me in the way I want, then I'll just leave.
Do you know why I will do it that way?
Simple, because I see teams as nothing more than fillers to use as I see fit. When they are no longer useful, I leave. That simple. If the leader has a problem and demands an answer, I'll let him/her know. But I won't be nice about it. I will be extremely blunt and critical.
But Munki, why be so mean? Simple, because I play this game so I can have fun. As long as I'm not breaking any rules, I don't give a crap about anybody else. If somebody's day is worse off because they ran across me, I don't care. I see all of yall as nothing more than fillers on the way to accomplish my goals.
edit: The people that feel they deserve some sort of explanation are self obsessed losers. That simple. -

Meanwhile "That other MMO?" Which one? In WoW you stay in a group till you finish the task at hand, be it an instance or Elite kill. FFXI you are attached at the hip with your group until you absolutely have to leave the computer, be it your house is on fire or your cath bag ruptures. EQ until recently you didn't leave a group for fear of being branded unreliable. Nope the 2 missions then bolt thing has always been stronger in CoH then anywhere else and it got worse with radio missions.
[/ QUOTE ]
Not so. Try early level questing in those games you mentioned. Not the high level raid stuff but the ordinary quests people team for, kill one thing and then poof, team disbanded. That's the kind of attitude I'm talking about. That's what those games bring to this one with the influx of their players, a selfish attitude.
[/ QUOTE ] Isn't wanting people to stick around on your team for mission after mission you being selfish too? I mean, you want them to stick around for your fun.
[/ QUOTE ]
Not so. It doesn't really matter one way or the other to me. I can quite easily drop out of a team and solo with any of my toons any time. But when I lead a team, I will switch from doing one player's missions to another's to another's with in a single play session. When player 1 remains on the team after doing a couple of his missions and then player 2 does also, this shows these players are team oriented and that fun is more than completing their own missions. When player 3 drops the team without a word the moment we finish his missions, that shows me that he is a selfish player who was only hanging around long enough for us to do his missions. Selfish is the best word to describe this behavior.
It doesn't affect my fun at all. I can easily search for more team members while the rest of us attempt to continue sans his assistance. I can easily also say, " Okay, thanks all. It's been fun teaming but I've got to run. Have a better day!" or "Thanks for the team all! I'm gonna go solo for a bit before I crash. Sleep fast!"
It's about manners. It's polite to say when and why you're leaving if it is at all possible. Go ahead and be selfish about it if you want, just give people a heads up before leaving them in the lurch.
[/ QUOTE ] I think I understand now what you're saying. The fact that when you are leader you switch between team members missions explains why you think that is selfish. And I don't disagree actually. I assume most leaders are doing their own missions or radio missions. I know what they say about assuming...
But either way, I consider it at worst a small breach in etiquette. I don't feel it is anything to get upset about and sent the quitter nasty tells demanding an explanation, which I have seen people do. And a few times when an answer was demanded of me, I gave the truth. Which those leaders didn't much care for being told they suck. Which is usually why I leave a team(on the rare occasion that I do team outside of a TF). -

I think the issue is that the spawn system doesn't know what to do for more than an 8 person team on the highest difficulty. Lag and unwieldiness aside, the devs would have to figure out what size enemy spawn is needed for 9 through whatever person teams, and I think that effort would better be spent elsewhere.
[/ QUOTE ] I say double the size of the mobs for each person more than 8 until the map is saturated. -

My personal view of archetypes is closer to SpaceNut's than to the original posters. Mine is a more simple understanding of the archetypes:
Heroes: Attack bad guys.
Villains: Attack bad guys and good guys.
I currently have a significant presence on Virtue, Freedom and Justice. If you're idea of a good time is maniacally charging into every foe and seeing stuff blow up (friends or foes) then perhaps you should join me at some point. Send me a tell or PM
I'm hoping to organize some Task Forces on Test Server sometime soon because anyone can joinMaybe some of you would like to join me. I understand my personal preferred play style isn't for everyone. But if you want action, explosions and a carefree gaming experience I'm your man.
[/ QUOTE ] Actually that playstyle is perfect for me. Whenever you have one of those TFs going, let me know. -
[ QUOTE ]
Blasters should behave as if they are Scrappers. If they can't solo a Chief Soldier, they should have their Blaster card revoked. They should love their Defenders, for Defenders make it easier to pretend you are a Scrapper.
Meanwhile the Scrapper should be off soloing the next mob because the Tank is too slow. It is generally accepted that at this point the Scrapper takes full responsibility for their own survival, or lack thereof, as does anyone stupid enough to follow them.
[/ QUOTE ] I like this. -

Outside of a TF, I don't think it's a big deal when someone quits and I don't think they owe anybody an explanation. -

NeoSporin is absolutely right in respect to how a post can come across since we do not see or hear or have a feeling of the other person's intent.
My bragging was merely stating some of my background so the OP can see it is possible. You call it bragging, i call it informing.
YOU PEOPLE (most of the posters in general) say outright that i am lying, that is not a good way to get the answer if you really wanted it. That is why i dont give proof, you dont deserve an answer. I gave you some suggestions on how to ask nicely hoping you would learn to be nice!
I continue to play as i always have and when i need to solo an AV, i just do it. Your comments have no merit or purpose!
If the OP wants to know about me and my tricks (no they are not exploits) all he has to do is contact me.
[/ QUOTE ] You are a liar. That is why you refuse to back up your claim. -

Did I forget to mention that she says she solo's AV's even though she uses nukes, shivs, warwolves, hvas heavies, insps, and MORE to "solo" them. Oh wait I already said that. Oh well may as well say it again. Not sure about the 4 times in a minute, but the "SOLO"'ing is true...if you call THAT solo'ing...
true solo is no temps no insps
[/ QUOTE ] Just gonna throw this out there, if there is nobody else on your team you are soloing. Temps, insp, etc. You're still soloing. It's that simple. Sure people have different opinions on that, but those different opinions are wrong.
The difference is how impressive the feat is. The more restrictions you put on it, the more impressive it is. -
