  1. Phil Zeleski. Too bad Solar belongs to another company, because your real name is only off of his by one letter.

    Welcome to the forums, Synapse.
  2. My last word on waterfalls, honest.

There is a river running into those cliffs that we don't see the mouth of, The Red River (or one of 2 Red Rivers), it's right on the city map. As noted in my last post, Angel Falls actually works in the same fashion. The river plunges into subterranean caves before emerging from the rock face. There are at least a dozen of those falls at the South end of Founders' Falls, each displacing essentially the same amount of water. Show me the groundwater table that can support that kind of continuous flow in a dozen places in less than a mile of cliffs. Just because you can't actually see the mouth of a river doesn't mean it isn't still flowing, and a flowing river underground is about the only phenomenon that explains the sheer volume of water displaced in Founders' Falls.

My personal guess as to why it looks the way it does is that they programmed the falls to be from an underground river system because they can't really mimic flowing water over flat land very well due to technical limitations, but whoever was designing the map when the game was released had enough knowledge of rivers to put the mouth of one right there and then modelled the falls after real world examples like Angel Falls. It may not be the first thing that comes to mind when you think "waterfall", but it does fit the definition, and even follows one of the possible formations of a waterfall seen in the real world.

Where did Founder's Falls get its name? Who were/are the founders? And why is there no waterfall in the zone?

    o.O

    [/ QUOTE ]

Sorry, but I was hoping to see a waterfall in Founder's Falls not a couple of springs.

    [/ QUOTE ]

So, we need to rename it Angel Springs?

Hmmmm maybe one boxed expansion a year along with the issues? They could call it the Trade Paperback Edition Vol. 1......

    [/ QUOTE ]

When we were speculating about boxed expansions after the announcement last year, I said that, if they were published approximately yearly, they should be called Annuals.

It's not as bad as the one time, they went through with a huge patch release.
Players got into the game only to find out everything was more messed up. It had to be rerolled back and the time waiting was a lot longer than this will be.
Least they caught this one in time.

Something odd about June 10th, it seems. That one was June 10th, 2006 according to ParagonWiki. They did manage to put in a small server stability patch on June 10th, 2005, but 2 out of 3 on this date being bad is a bit odd.
  7. Either a mistake on the calendar or in the novel The Freedom Phalanx. Sister Psyche's birthday being in 1920 would have made her 26 when she made her debut. Did Shalice sit out World War II?

    292 centuries? Really. Holy [censored]!

I mean, that's 29,200 years of total play time, or 1.518 Million Weeks, or 255 Million hours played. We really need to get some lives!

    [/ QUOTE ]

Yeah, but taking the 140,000 accounts that we had as of the last quarterly report as average and multiplying that by 1430 days, you get about 1 hour and 15 minutes per day on average per account. Aggregate numbers get overwhelmingly high very quickly.
  9. You know, the only way that I could go for this, if it were real, would be if you got Walt Simonson to do them. For those who have never had the pleasure of reading Simonson's comics, he is somewhat of a master of the visual sound effect. He can have a guy hit something so hard that the sound effect is "KRAKKAFADOOOOOOM!" That's four syllables of hard hit right there. Nobody does sounds like Simonson.

Mastermind: /Sonic; I think Storm Summoning is actually too good for MMs. HEck, I think even /Empathy would have been a better choice than /Storm. (It's laughably easy for me to keep my robots' HP topped off, and I haven't a heal in my secondary at ALL ... just aid other!)

    [/ QUOTE ]

You think Storm's too good, but Empathy would be better? Really? The Empathy with Fortitude? The buff that out of the box could always be on 2 of your henchmen, and with slotting could easily be on 4 or more?
  11. /agree with the man made of SPAM.

And Urban areas would be so cool. I can see it kind of like the Urban area in "Edward Scissorhands"---very retro looking and cartoony.

The word you're looking for here is Suburban.
  13. If it was on the 10th before the servers go down for the regular Monday maintenance period (9 EST) you get the bonus. This is a script that they will run likely during or just after server maintenance, as they're bringing the servers back up, but before they open them for the customers to log back on. At least that was how it happened last time they did this, as part of the first double XP weekend.

After talking with my friend today, I have a question regarding the SG bonus prestige. Is the 20K per SG member for all members or just the first 15 - like when you start up a SG in the first place?

    [/ QUOTE ]

    From the Announcement:

    [ QUOTE ]
Also after the launch of Issue 11, all Supergroups will receive an additional 20,000 Prestige per Supergroup member, meaning SGs could acquire up to 3 million Prestige based upon their Supergroup membership roster!

    [/ QUOTE ]

It's for every member in your group at the moment that they grant it.

    gah, spoilers much? :/

    [/ QUOTE ]

I edited it, but, seriously? Here? On this thread? We're all on this thread trying to do preemptive spoilering on future content from the barest evidence.
  17. Spoilers follow:

Even war witch is dead I mean and she can train you.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Not to derail here, but Positron was supposedly working on getting her corporeal again in Issue 19 of the Top Cow comic. Did he even think to ask Dark Watcher to work that Howling Twilight on her after he used to it to not only rez Posi and crew, but to put Posi back into a body in Issue 20?
  19. [ QUOTE ]
Okay, no one eascaped from the Zig, everyone who got in contact with a Contaminated may already be dead and several contacts have died from Outbreak?

So, this means... no player heroes can be sure if they're infected, no player villains escaped from the Zig, and a mysterious plague is killing off everyone else?

    What's going on here?

    [/ QUOTE ]

A giant case of misdirection. Look at these stories! They're shocking! Issue 11 is going to be a slaughter!

Then it gets on Test and we see that it sort of makes the stories true, in a really roundabout way. This is a grand comics tradition, folks. There's a whole site dedicated to the cover misdirection trend that was DC's staple back in the 50s and 60s.

I would agree with this. At some point, people are just not going to come back. Their names should be freed up eventually. While a poster above said 15 months should be the cutoff for your name going back to the pool regardless of level, I think that is a bit too soon. I would support sometime over 2 years inactive losing you the right to squat on your level 50's name, and possibly even their space in the database. It may sound harsh, but how many really come back after a 2 year hiatus?

    [/ QUOTE ]

You'd be surprised. I know I've gone back on "nostalgia trips" to my other MMO's on occasion. A great many people aren't long-term community members, but they like to come back when enough changes have made the game fresh again.

Any game that puts barriers to the returning player cuts off a revenue source. You decide how much you're willing to alienate and weigh it againt the benefits of such a system.

In this case, 6 levels is the balance they came up with... and it appears to have been researched and discussed with considerably more forethought, planning, and access to information, than any of the suggestions offered here.

    [/ QUOTE ]

That's fine. I'll qualify the position above a little further. If you haven't logged in in 2 years, the chances are very low that you will ever come back. This game gives at least a couple of free pass periods per year to inactive former players to come back and check it out. If you didn't come back during several chances for free just to have a look around at the old stomping grounds, what is the likelihood that you will come back at all? At some point, shouldn't the developers stop acting like the jilted lover and stop carrying the torch?

My defense of the idea of adjusting this policy is not for personal use, at least not right now, since I am approaching half full on my account and have sworn off making alts for the time being to concentrate on the characters that I have. I just tend to see those unused character names as wasteful. I know that not everyone feels that way, but I'd like to clarify my position on this matter. I've only had problems getting names that were fairly obvious, but I would think that a fairly obvious name on an account that hasn't even been touched for free in 2 years should be returned to the pool for others to use, regardless of the level of that character.

I know that there are people like this. Pretty much the entirety of my original SG was like this. They left early in 2005 and have not been back at all for the past 2 years. I still play the character that was in that SG regularly, and haven't heard a peep from any of them. If they were still at all interested in this game and their characters, one would think they would have taken the opportunity to log them on at no cost to themselves at least once.

  23. My goodness! There is a name that I have not seen in a long, long time. Welcome back, Havok. Every Super Strength user owes you a debt for things like the power of Knockout Blow, and it is great to see you.
