Quote:Well the gold was inspired by this picture here (I would post the image on the forums itself but its HUGE. I chose the metallic pattern mostly because of how sleek it was. I didn't want a ton of little fiddly bits on it. It would be great if there was a more dull matte texture that was just as sleek, but for now this works great.Posting ninja.
Why so much gold?
I dont think the ultra sleek metallic pattern really suits it either. -
ARGH!!! Why does my computer have to be so crappy!?!?!?

Thanks so much for the input all! Ladies and gentlemen, I give you; JETSLASH!

So most of my characters fall into two categories; Eldritch abomination cosmic horrors in human form, and cool robots. But there's a new category I would like to try out; Military Hardware. That's why for my next character I want to make a scrapper based off of what might just be the best plane in the world; the F-22.
The question is, how do I make this into a costume? Well theres a few ground rules I set down for myself:
-Keep it sleek. I love adding tons of little doodads to my costumes. I need this one to be smooth.
-Make sure flight is a core theme of the character. Echo wings, fins and jets whenever I can.
-Keep the colors in control. I'm thinking gunmetal grey for the mostpart, with a few gold bits thrown in for emphasis.
Now as it turns out I am not the first person to try and make a humanoid F-22. Starscream from the live action Transformers movies is one:
Now thats a bit more fiddly and detailed than I would like to go (not to mention capable of), but it carries across the same basic themes. You can tell just by looking at the guy that he's supposed to be a jet.
So help me out here. What awesome ideas do you have for me? -
Everyone is Necrophiliac for Ghost Widow...
...I'm going to get in trouble for saying necrophilia aren't I? -
So can someone explain to all of us that are just hearing about this for the first time what exactly happened?

So I recently rolled a Claws/Electric Armor stalker, and have been having a lot of fun with him so far. I chose Electric Armor mostly because I have had plenty of experience with defense based sets and wanted to give resistance a try. Thing is, while I know how to make a good IO build for defense sets (just softcap it), I really don't know what to build for in regards to a resistance based set. Any suggestions?

On a side note, I think ill cancel the normal redside raid this satuday in favor of this one. I just got back to college and really haven't had time to recruit or anything.
-
Dude, I am effing THERE!
Ill gladly take over for raid lead. -
You could give arc 339222, The Descender a shot. It's really meant more for solo play, but I am interested to see how it works with teams.

I just saw it today. I'll just repost my feelings from the comic and hero/villain culture forum.
Quote:As a student of game design, I have always held immersion in extremely high regard. The more a game can pull you out of the real world and into the world it inhabits, the better. A truly immersive game will construct a world that doesn't just serve as a playground for the player, but extends BEYOND what the player can see.
There is also a technical side to this too. The less the player is reminded that they are playing a game, the better. Every glitch, every muddy texture or broken piece of geometry can yank the player back out of the world and remind them that yes, it is just in fact a game. (This is why the Metroid Prime series are my favorite games of all time. The immersion NEVER lets up.)
That being said, Avatar is the most immersive movie I have EVER seen.
The world of Pandora as it is presented in the film is not just another planet trying to look alien for the sake of cinema. You can sense that it extends FAR beyond what the eye can see. Every creature, every plant, hell, every stinkin rock has a place wholly separate from the plot. It is ALIVE. I think it says a lot that if there were one fictional planet I would want to explore, it would be Pandora (the previous one was Tallon IV). I really hope this movie gets a sequel, if only to explore what other bizarre and wonderful forms of life Pandora may hold.
On the technical side of things, the movie is flawless. Yeah, the 3-D takes some getting used to (and yeah, you SHOULD see it in 3-D). But after about an hour or so, I got used to it. And it's not just 3-D for the sake of the gimmick either. There are no giant spears jabbed in your face or monsters launched at the screen, just a bit more depth, which serves to make the world that much more immersive.
And that's not even mentioning the CG. GOOD GOD THE CG. This is probably the first movie to not only bypass the uncanny valley effect, but make an experience that is so much MORE convincing by being CG. The real thing that amazed me was the jungle itself. Every branch, every tree, every STINKING LEAF, was modeled individually.
IT LOOKS PHENOMENAL.
Yeah yeah, there have been some gripes about the story, and yes, it is an old one. But just because a story has been told before doesn't mean it's BAD. There is a reason such tales as the star crossed lovers and the heroes journey have been told again and again since time immemorial. Because they WORK. And simply put, the beauty of Avatar is in the way it tells a very old tale.
So in other words, I liked it! -

It looks like I wont be able to lead a Redside hami raid this coming Saturday (the usual time for redside raids), as not only am I working night shifts all this week (thus killing any chance of EoE farming), but this Saturday also happens to be my mother's birthday, and well, her birthday comes first.
So, I am postponing the next redside raid until the second Saturday in January, the 9th. (I would have it on the first Saturday of January, but that's the 2nd, and I have a feeling too many people are going to be bombed out from new years.) -
The Leviathan. So I could om nom nom the Rogue Isles.

So I just reformatted my hard drive and forgot to write down the graphics settings I had in CoH beforehand. However, with some playing I am sure I will be able to work them out. However, I know there was a command to force vista to use dual cores instead of single cores (its entered at the end of the target string of the properties window, much like getting on the test server). So what is it?

I made a few edits following PW's review. First and foremost, the Virtea are now tougher. For the story to work, they should win most every battle they get in, and with their bump up, now they do. Also, I completely overhauled the last mission. No more claustrophobic submarine map, and no more clunky abyss wells system. Just a big ol' battle on the grandville beach.

Custom Group: The Lost Choir
Found in: The Lost Choir parts 1(mission 5) and 2(all missions). (ID: 123675 and 136959).
Keywords: Challenging, Balanced.
Description: All gods have servants, usually known as angels. But when a god dies, their servants are left stranded in the vastness of the universe. Such was the case with Thellos, the Rikti God-Mother. When the Rikti starved her of faith, she lapsed into a deep sleep, leaving her choir of angelic servants with no direction. Unfortunately they were found by a malevolent, hyperdimensional entity known as Xhantranos, who took control of them, warped them into bizarre new forms, and sent them ahead of him to scout for new universes for him to devour.

I'll post the same arc I did last time. Arc ID 339222 "The Descender". It's actually received a few changes since the last time I posted it. Mostly to the last mission to make it less clunky mechanically and more epic overall.

Pretty simple question, where did you come up with the handle you use on the forums?
Me? Well, I always liked squids. Okay, maybe like is too weak of a word. More like from ages 6-11, I was OBSESSED with squids. I have really no idea what triggered this fascination, all I know is that I read books about squids, watched tv shows about squids, dressed up as squids for halloween, and even had a four foot long plush giant squid that I slept with like a teddy bear.
Thankfully the (rather unhealthy in retrospect) obsession waned over time, and now squids are more like a subdued interest rather than a full blown obsession. Even so, my forum handle will attest that my inner six year old never quite left. -
Ooh! I got some good ones! (names provide links to what the hell I am talking about)
Thermocline, Abyss Gazer, Mr. Marianas, Hydrotherm, Anthazoa.
Those are just some off the top of my head. -
Therm sounds good. We usually run a little short on heals
