I'm running around with a near permanent 165% Recharge on my Warshade already but.... It would be nice for Hasten to be up constantly. And the Healing one would be great. And the Stun would be really handy... Damn, that one IS made for us!

That's really acute way of putting it, and without sounding obtuse, I'd like to think his current costume is complimentary. Just to make sure I don't get any degree of heat from you it would be right if he had an updated costume in the tip missions he shows up in. Perhaps an alternate exterior angle costume?

Quote:HA! I love it! And the few items the stores are actually carrying are at a fairly large discount, making it worth the trip... if they have what you need.*grins*
Actually... let's really get creative.
The day AFTER Thanksgiving, every single store, vendor, etc should be absolutely SURROUNDED by mobs of wandering civilians, making it nearly impossible to get near said store/vendor/etc. Then, when you finally get there, it's sold out of several randomly selected items.
And of course Wentworth's and the Black Market should just look like war zones. Civilians are all of a sudden brawling and kicking everywhere...

Once I got the Mutation Booster, I must have used that power constantly all day trying to get the Rikti Monkey devolution, but no dice. So when I'm messing around in PvP, and click the power trying to get a bit more Defense... POOF. I'm in the middle of a PvP zone hoping around as a monkey trying to not die from NPCs or players.
It was quite amusing. -
I don't really want a copy cat version of the AE system. I'm using it as a basis for a reason to change the base tool. Right now developers use a tool that is more sophisticated then the AE mission maker to create their content. The idea here is that we can do something similar for bases.
-

Quote:I agree completely. Bases have gotten the short end a lot of times because of many different reasons. Mostly because they've never done quite what the developers wanted from them.I've wanted to get major updates to bases for years.
There are countless different ways that kind of thing could benefit the game.
But I think the general failure of the core PvP base raiding concept left a "bad taste" in the Devs' mouths for wanting to do anything with bases. I almost get the feeling at times that the Devs might not even mind if bases somehow went away completely just so they wouldn't have to be reminded of what was arguably one of the greatest fumbles of this game.
I'm still hopeful something new will be done with SG bases at some point.
But based on the last few years I sadly wouldn't be surprised to see nothing change in this area.
That's why I think the developers should change what they want from bases. Making them into a version of a "mission map creator" would redesign bases both in function and goal. -
Happy Birthday Steelclaw! I am always excited to read any threads you make, and enjoy reading your wit and humor in any posts you make that I happen to see.

I want to start off by saying I love bases. They're functional, they're fashionable, and they're an excellent creative outlet that rivals the character's costume creator. But why should we update them? Like it or not, the base editor does it's job well.
But it could be better. There are almost weekly threads asking for it to be better, suggesting ideas and proposing fixes. But it still isn't quite needed, which pushes those suggestions down the pile in developer time. After all, even the largest SGs only have an extremely small percentage of players see their base, so why spend time and money upgrading a tool that's currently functioning? So to raise improving the bases in the develoment queue, I suggest givong it the "AE treatment". What does that mean? It means we request the developers replace the current base editor with a watered down version of a mission tile set creator.
The reason for asking this is three fold: First, with a new tool for the developers to create mission tile sets the developers would be able to create more mission maps faster and easier for Task Forces and story arcs, which goes hand in hand of creating new content. Second, being able to "fill in the blank" for mission tile sets would help to combat the feeling of repetitiveness of instanced missions. And finally, with a watered down version of the tool, players could create mission maps for the AE itself as well as have a new and upgraded tool to create bases with.
The general idea is to essentially give us more control over base building as a secondary effect. But there are also secondary effects for players that I would like seen thrown in.
The assumption I'm making, is that the full tool the developers would have would including being able to load up current mission maps, and add / subtract decorative objects similar to how our current base editor works (add pile of rubble here, remove burning rubble there, add Hellion wall decal, etc). A watered down version of this kind of thing would be excellent. In my little mind, I'm hoping for a more "mission like" base, where we're able to take a room from a mission, load it up at the cost of some prestige, and then add or remove certain items from the room to make it more base like, as well as functional. This alone, would give players many of the things they have been requesting, such as second floors, rooms with actual walls, etc.
Going along further with this train of thought, would be the ability to purchase "elevator plots", which would allow us to have a room with an elevator (or other doorway) that, like inside missions, would take us to another "floor" in the base. Say, going from a sewer tile set to the "secret tech lab" portion where the teleporters are. Taking that idea even further, I would like the ability to replace the blue portal with an actual doorway, such as in missions, that take you outside. This would of course only replace the portal within the base, and you would still exit to the blue portal in the zone, but it would go a long way to helping suspend belief that your base is a secret base with a hidden sewer entrance, or within an office building, or a cave.
So really, I feel that having the developers create a new mission tile set editor, something that gives them a large amount of control over what and where goes in a mission but works in the same style as the Architect Entertainment's "fill in the blank", would be an excellent reason to update the base editing process. -
I would like to propose a counter suggestion:
Create a new secondary set (defender primary) that implements a "PBAoE" style of buffing as it's primary team buff powers. Make it functionally comparable to other shield sets (in that there are two of such shield powers with several complimenting powers). At a minimum, have one that's defense based and one that's resistance based. I wouldn't want the buffs to be self affecting, similar to Grant Cover, but I'm easy on how the developers choose to work it. -
For me, I love the early levels. Anything from about 1-35 is great fun. But after that, it starts to feel more of a slog to me. The XP smoothing has done a lot to combat this for me, but still I find it somehow less enjoyable then the early levels.

I'm still not buying your reasoning. People currently run the Hamidon content because they enjoy it. It's really the only reason to do it because the reward (HOs / Merits) can be gotten easier from elsewhere. If they add HOs / SHOs as merit rewards, people will still run the Hamidon content because they enjoy it. If fewer people are running it, the answer isn't to make it the only source of a reward, but to make the content enjoyable to more people.

Quote:I think this argument was used against the Recluse / Statesman TFs. "Why take the time to gather 50 players and carefully coordinate a large event when I could just make a team of 8 and run the TF? Sure takes a little longer, but in the long run, it's about 10x easier then a Hami raid." It fails there, and it fails here too.I disagree. It would take away any incentive to ever do the hamidon raid again. Why take the time to gather 50 players and carefully coordinate a large event when I could just solo for a few weeks? Sure, it takes a lot longer, but in the long run, it's about 10x easier than a hami raid.
And heck, I never do Hami Raids or run the Recluse / Statesman TFs. I get all my HOs and SHOs from the Market. What incentive do I have to ever run it now?
As for the suggested idea: I would think 5 A-Merits for the specific one you want and 1 (or 2) A-Merit(s) for a "Hamidon Reward Roll" would be fair. -
Quote:I'm not telling you who you can and can't pick on. I'm giving you alternatives. You said you were having issues with large groups scattering. I suggested smaller spawns who can't / won't scatter because they're the appropriate level for you.Not needed? LOL! Too funny. Many suggestions are not "needed", but nice to see implemented.
And don't tell me what groups I can and can not "pick on".
And yes, a shorter recharge time would be nice. It currently recharges in 12 seconds, but only feels long because you're not doing anything else beyond waiting for it to recharge (at least I am). I would probably be perfectly happy if they dropped it to just 10 seconds, possibly 8. Though I wonder... how does it compare to the Infected Serum? -
Quote:Oh I got your point. I'm just suggesting it's not needed. Preatorian character? Lost go up to level 30. Large groups scattering far and wide? Pick on smaller groups that aren't in a Hazard Zone. After 75 months, I know that, but thanks anyways. Still isn't cute after bringing a gold side toons over and they finally getting to a level to run this mission. My point is that it would be nice if the recharge was short to nothing so you can get more shots off before they scatter too far.
-
Quote:That only happens if you're level is too high for the NPCs you're fighting, like every other time you pick on something too low for you.Eh, I wouldn't agree. If it was "completed", then the Lost were cured. Apart from autocompleting, I would like to see the recharge on the wand dropped next to nothing. So many groups of Lost standing around, and you fire one shot off and they scatter. It was cute the first dozen times or so, but now...

I'm in agreement with Sharker. It's not a bug, but an oversight of the player. Not a big deal, we've had to protect players from themselves before and we'll have to do it again (and by "we", I mean the Developers).
I would "counter" suggest that there be one small change. We can increase the number of charges, so that even if the player makes the mistake, they can still complete the mission and only have a face palm as punishment. That would be the easiest and (in my opinion) the best option for this. There's no need to go out of the way to alter the basic workings of the power with unused tech (making inactive until a specific mission is collected) or altering the mission in any way. -
Heck, sell some of the lesser liked ones and watch the money come in. Or better yet, sell Booster Packs that contain NPC exclusive pieces that are found in these costume temp powers.
-
To be perfectly honest, I could actually support a form of "PvP Booster" where the funds go towards revamping / updating PvP. I personally have a hard time actually thinking about what kind of things could be placed into a PvP Booster that would generate enough funds without seriously redefining what the Booster Packs are about or making drastic changes to PvP that would have a negative impact to those who don't pick up the booster pack. That leaves me with precious little incentive to support a PvP Booster.

Translation: I can't refute what you said, and have nothing to contribute, so here's a distraction!

Quote:I take it you didn't notice the post he was replying to specifically mentions only Brute / Scrapper secondaries for the very reason you specify? This is one way to address questionable Tier 1 choices. But the big problem you run into here is playstyle choices. That Tier 1 Gale power that some folks hate being forced to take, is a great Tier 1 power for players like myself. I would be pissed off about being forced to take O2 Boost as my first pick, because it is a power that I usually wait awhile before taking since it does nothing for me solo. So then do you need to swap around the first three powers and force Snow Storm at level 1 ?
-
I think it's a classic example of Poe's Law.
-
I could see some standardization among the first power of the secondaries. Every secondary set's first power is something the character can use solo. There's no exception to that. And that's a good thing in my eyes.
If they were to standardize the secondaries of defensive sets (for Brutes / Scrappers) so that the first power is relatively equal in usefulness, I would actually be fairly excited by that. It would help ensure the first power is less "forced" as it would likely be a power they would want to choose anyway. But really, that's about the only alteration I would make, and it's more about the order of powers gained in the secondaries then how many one can choose from. -
It looks as though they are suggesting you can use a Power Choice to pick from this power pool which gives you an extra Enhancement Slot to put in a power.
I'm not really a fan of the idea, myself. I just don't really see it as needed. -
Quote:Yes. It may not be to you, but it is to me. It's visually appealing. I LIKE the current set up because it gives a visual. And what about the Cleo mission I mentioned? Did you only read the first sentence of what you quoted and skip over the rest where I state that there is NPC text of Cleo and Washington stating their cases, of Cleo lying right there to you? There is nothing before the mission, or in those little choice boxes, indicating that she will, or has done, that.Is it THAT much more immersive if you do it while watching a still shot of the Olympian in his tank?
You think the set up is a horrible design. I think it's a brilliant cut scene use. I can agree to disagree on that point.
