Issue 7.

Jeez Positron... Way to destroy any chance of other people to get to this first...
Short and sweet for the win! -
That's what I'm wondering myself. I wasn't around the forums during that time (I think I was just learning how to be a power gamer at that time, so the forums weren't in my sights) but if anything, I would peg it on some military bumkin who was outraged that the flag was being flown at night with no illumination. I think it was less debate, more "rightous outrage".
-
[ QUOTE ]
Wait.. how does that explain the lighting of the flag..?
[/ QUOTE ]
That doesn't, but American Flags that are flown at night are (I think) required to be lit. Atleast they were on military bases. I remember that regulation relatively well. One of the things you learn while painting rocks. -

How well does simultaneous Recall Friend work for swapping places?
[/ QUOTE ]
You really want to know? The trick is the permissions. You set the permissions, and you have about 20 seconds to actually accept the TP, regardless of where the person doing it went to, did, or anything. That person could have died, but so long as the power went off, and the "do you want to accept a recall friend" window is up and counting down, you can click yes and get ported right there.
It makes for GREAT timing tricks.
Blaster wants to pull, but there's not safe spot? Teleport them, then as the count down goes, snipe, then accept!
Want to bungee jump from the top of a building, but don't trust your friend's timing? Have them port first, then once it activates, leap, and pick the time when YOU zip back up to the top!
Wanna do the bait and switch in PvP? Recall friend as often as it's up, and when someone interrupts, let them know in team, and they port there from the previous one!
There are lots of ways to use Recall Friend now that they added the delay and timer. -

give him an animated gif of "castling"
[/ QUOTE ]
O.o
This one I like! Now where do we find a gif of someone actually castling... -

Very doable.. just which picture are you talking about?
[/ QUOTE ]
Well the move called "Castle" in chess is when you do that little dance with the Rook and the King, right? I forget exactly how it goes, it's been ages since I've played (not really). But I don't know how to show that effectively...
[/ QUOTE ]
Well, that doesn't quite fit the assassin strike idea.
[/ QUOTE ]
Well don't look at me! Castle said to think of that move in regards to the name / Avatar... -

AWESOME IDEA!
Does anyone have a picture of a castle chess piece on a chess board next to tipped over enemy chess peice.. as if the castle has taken it?
Show assassin strike.. then the picture.. assassin strike.. picture.. then back to a blank space before restarting?
[/ QUOTE ]
>^O.O^<
That is an awesome idea! -
Hmm... it's bright... really bright...
I think you're right. Change the colors so they match the side board section where the Avatars are kept.
I still think it recharges too fast -
[ QUOTE ]
Hmm..
Change the flashing colors to match the respective boards? That might look cool.. make sure the color is snaged from the sidebar.. We have tons of different tints and shades..
[/ QUOTE ]
Ohhh, that would be very cool! And lengthen the time between "Assassing strikes" on the Avatar.. that would work.
But where would we find someoen with the abilities to do this? -

..Is that supposed to blend in with the background?
A great deal of people use the red side too..
[/ QUOTE ]
grrr...forgot about the dual board views. I'm not versed enough with avatars to make one that senses which board is viewed and switches
Someone get Alty over here!!
[/ QUOTE ]
I do not think such a thing is possible..
[/ QUOTE ]
I've seen it...can't remember who it was that did it, somehow they had a script running in their avatar so the bkg would switch depending on if someone was viewing in CoH vs CoV mode.
Beyond my abilities, tho.
[/ QUOTE ]
That's not necessary, all you have to do is make an aminated gif with a transparent base:
TA-DA!!!
[/ QUOTE ]
Very cool Mantid! Very very cool!
EDIT: Hmm... Now of course there needs to be a tweak to how fast and often it flashes. It needs to be a nice little pause in there, maybe around how long an unslotted Assassin Strike actually takes to recharge?
Now that would be nifty and scary. -
[ QUOTE ]
o.o mew!
<.< btw, we need to ambush castle with an avatar
[/ QUOTE ]
How has Castle gotten this far without an Avatar? I think one needs to be adopted. Maybe for a little bit, until Castle can find one that's more fitting...

It'd be nice to have a sticky with the listing of who does what so we can send messages to the right person, instead of everyone sending them to Cuppa and hopeing she passes them on.
[/ QUOTE ]
Actually... I would really, really, really, REALLY love that.
Many times I've thought of something, but didn't know which red name to send it to, and I don't want to bother Cuppa, 'cause I"m sure she gets enough fluff and spam in her PM box then she needs. So yeah, really useful. -
*sniffles*
Bye bye Arctic Sun... I'll miss you!
>.>
Or atleast your posts and stuff! -
[ QUOTE ]
Alas, had you been allowed to read it, you would probably understand the situation better; you weren't, so it's not your fault you don't know what you're talking about.
[/ QUOTE ]
Actually... I did read it. And it was, 100%, off topic. -
[ QUOTE ]
ROFL!
I have to remember to save my posts before throwing them away here...
I posted a National Lampoon-worthy satire of parenting according to the gimps and nerfs inflicted on CoH/CoV players, but apparently it was deleted... oh well.
Dasher (7 lock downs, 4 deletes and counting... what ARE they so afriad of?)
[/ QUOTE ]
It probably has more to do with it not being even close to on topic, not even pretending to be. Nah, they were obviously afraid of your humor! -
[ QUOTE ]
_Castle_, so is it no longer possible for a player to one shot an NPC? Or does this only apply to being one shotted as a player character?
[/ QUOTE ]
This only applies to PLAYERS from either PLAYERS or NPCs.
This will not affect Players one shotting NPCs. -

6.) Does this mean that people will survive exploding buildings in Steel Canyon?
-----------------------------------------------------------------
In theory, yes
[/ QUOTE ]
In practice...
The exploding building logs two hits in the combat log, and if you'll notice two red numbers pop above your head. One hit of ~32K, and another for the same amount.
The combat tab is not differing different damage types; its two seperate entries.
So, the first hit would leave you at 1% - then the second hit would kill you.
[/ QUOTE ]
True... BUT.
[ QUOTE ]
2. We'll be putting in a check that prevents "one shotting"; if anything occurs within a fraction of second that brings a player from 100% Hit Points down to 0, we instead give the player 1% Hit Points.
[/ QUOTE ]
In theory, sinse those two are hitting within a fraction of a second, it will go through the calculation and say, "Hey, he's not dead yet!" -
We'll have to see how that plays out then! If nothing else, it's interesting.
I wouldn't say it makes the "Safe Zones" free game though, because with the absolute best, you have 1% hp and there are still other drones, and even players who could take you out. Now what if you pop a bunch of greens to get back to 100% hp? Now you're out a lot of inspirations too, and there are still hostiles everywhere. It may not be as good as first thought... Though I would like to be the one who watched someone do that (assuming it's even possible) so I could run around and brawl them! -
Ohhh, hadn't thought of that! But don't forget, the Drones have a pretty high magnatude Hold / Immoblize attached to their attackes, so you might survive one shot (though I'm not sure about this because it doesn't do damage, so much as just... kill you), but you probably won't be going far.
-
Err.. I don't think the boost from Vigilance between 1% and Dead is that large. And honestly, I didn't think Vigilance could -get- any lower. Then again, if it takes a nerf to Vigilance to buff Defiance, I'm all for it!
Please note the light hearted nature of this post... please... -

Isn't this going to have an adverse effect of hamidon raids? I.E. No one dies during the mito phase.
[/ QUOTE ]
Heh, alread said that (yay me!) and yeah, I'm kind of interested in how that will work. I'm personally reall interested in how Blasters will jump from 0 Defiance to 500 in one shot of a taunted AV now (AoE while standing near the tank, then backing off and letting loose). -
[ QUOTE ]
However, I think you'll agree that a certain issue can only go on for so long before the people involved become irritated, can't you?
[/ QUOTE ]
I'll dissagree with this, even though I have to say that in the forums, here, it's true enough for context because there is ALWAYS someone who will flame, insult, degrade, or just BMW consistantly. -
That's already in one of my posts, but yeah, I can really see that as a new and potentially powerful exploit. Scary thought. Defiance could be more then a little useful...
