Quote:My post, since deleted, was not intended to imply that anything illegal was going on with super packs. In fact, I am 100% sure that there are no legal problems with them. I apologize for the lack of clarity.Hello everyone,
This discussion has gotten a bit out of hand. Please try to keep your discussion on topic, and avoid bickering. Suggesting that NCsoft is engaging in illegal activity is not appropriate to these forums, and I would ask that discussion of legality and gambling stop.
Thank you all for understanding,

Technically speaking the +25% temp is going to be equally useful at any level (though the very earliest levels fly by so fast already that you'll lose some benefit from it just running to see a trainer.) But, as Hopeling said, you'll want to use it when you're running things that would already give good experience since it's a timed power. Any hanging around the auction house while it's up means it's just going to waste.

Ditto. Also, costume colors adjusted from green and red to black and red. I took the cheap route of just changing my SG colors to include black. Cause I might need those 70ish tailor tokens I've got sitting around some day.

Quote:Paranoid much?IMHO, most of the social contracts that make up the cultural mores of a decent and sustainable people are in tatters due to the rugged individualism De Tocqueville describes in Democracy in America. I could say more but it would likely get my post edited if I haven't said too much already. But my parting thought on this topic: there is much more to living life than making money, and shared enterprises, organized as corporations or otherwise, should reach for nobler goals than mere monetary profits.

It's not just Virtue players that will condemn Freedom as "Freedumb" and the Land of Blind Invites. I'm not saying that reputation is deserved, but that's the reputation it has. Other servers will probably describe Virtue as Land of the Catgirls. Unfair? Yes, but that's the rep. The other servers generally escape this sort of thing except that players who moved to Virtue/Freedom/Exalted will often refer to their prior server as being 'Dead.'

Stalkers are the one archetype I've never been able to play past the very earliest levels. The whole stealth focused play style is something that's just never clicked with me (in any MMO.) But Assassin's Focus is such a huge buff to stalkers that I'll probably give one a good go.

This is the first time I've seen sin mentioned as an argument against the super packs. Most of the opposition to it is from players who don't like having some things available ONLY as a part of a random pack which otherwise contains mostly consumables that could be bought outright if you actually wanted them. In fact, the super packs aren't really gambling at all since each is supposed to contain items that are theoretically equal in value.

There are no moral obligations on either side. The only obligations are those agreed to by contract in the EULA and such.
That doesn't mean that you shouldn't be guided by morality when playing the game or interacting with Paragon employees (or vice versa.) That's a matter of conscience, not obligation. -
In the tutorial, Blue Spectrum tells you he'd rather wait for someone else to come by and help him.
Willy Wheeler calls you a loser.
Your character is female and Dean MacArthur doesn't hit on you. -
Quote:I bow to you, Sir. I would love to see some of those comments.I made the most annoying enemy group ever in one of my AE missions.
Minions with Ice Armor and Icy Assault. With all 18 powers.
If you're fighting 10 of them, you have: 20 copies of Chilling Embrace stacked on you, and no end because they tend to all fire Energy Absorption at the same time.
Oh yeah.....they fly too
I put them in a mission advertised as a fire farm......they were the ambush
The comments I got on that one were HILARIOUS. Imagine the havoc they would wreak on a Fiery Aura brute, with almost no resistance to Cold damage.........
......I'm mean. -
Sir Ruff_Tuff_n_Buff, I am in your debt.

Quote:Me too. There is no way I can read those buttons.I can't read the buttons either but I see what I've switched to in the text field and click again as necessary.
The other thing I often can't see is the <bleeping> mouse pointer. Especially on trials when there are lots of power graphics exploding all over the screen. -
Quote:Agreed that people who don't really dig into the background lore are not going to be familiar with Mr. Spoiler. Non-lore obsessed players will probably find his reveal a let down since chances are they've never heard of him. Well, some will. Most people don't care enough about lore to be interested in the Letter Writer.I suppose I haven't been following the Letter Writer speculation much, but since I don't remember reading any speculation that actually got it correct, I'd hardly call it an "obvious" choice. Looking back on the clues now that I know the answer makes me wonder why I didn't suspect him earlier, but at the same time he's never really been foremost on people's minds. I suppose the main thing is that as a character who has never made an in-game appearance before, his exposure is limited to the people who actually read the background stuff.

Quote:Can we get a no-flap option for the other wings? I'd rather be a hawk than a sparrow while flying. And on the tech wings flapping is just plain awful.
Michael Pait: Can you make the new fire wings actually flap?
City of Heroes: The Phoenix Wings in the Fire and Ice set are fixed, and there are no plans for a flapping version at this time.
Quote:Chris Saguisag: I would love to make my farm animals MM set with Beast Mastery. Chickens/Pigs/Cow
City of Heroes: Farm animals don't tend to make good combat pets...
Editor's Note: The Zelda series and Baldur's Gate II would beg to differ... -

I did specify the live server. Anyway, the Center would have been a more interesting choice. Mr. Spoiler is a rather more obvious choice that a lot of people have been assuming was the LW, so his reveal isn't much of a surprise. At least it's not future 'you.' That would have been a big shark jump.
And they DO need to do something with the Center. Anyone who grabbed as much power as he did must have SOME plan on what do with it. -
Quote:Based purely on what's in the LIVE version of the game they do write/talk in a similar style. And we don't know what spoiler person looks like. Not that I really think they're the same person. They don't really look very similar, or talk in the same way
Anyway, the Center being the LW would make for a better storyline. I know you'll disagree with that since you don't like "grey area" morality issues. -

Copied from another thread (with a couple corrections and clarifications), here's my theory:
Quote:It's either him or Miss Francine. Do you really think she's recruiting all those freaks just to teach them to read and love bunnies? The Letter writer is the Center. Compare his speaking style from Viridian's Arc (where he clearly shows himself to be the smartest man in the room) and the the Hero Tip (in the 30s) A Cloud of Odorous Smoke (In which he claims to have given, through the Midnight Squad, the information needed to stop the shadow seed from being planted and says you should be grateful to him for keeping Requiem in check) to the style of the Writer.
There are few things we know about Center. He is a mutant, but has no combat abilities. He has been gathering powerful forces under his control (all of the old 5th column bosses) but hasn't revealed his plans for these forces (the TF's and Arcs associated with the council are about his subordinates pursuing their own agendas.) The Writer also has been gathering superhumans (Ajax and Protean at the least.)
The Writer claims to have been the one to supply the Midnight Squad with the crystal needed to access Cimerora. The Center would have a motive for getting them a crystal as a means of getting some metahumans back in time to stop Requiem (and other Nictus) from establishing such an early foothold. And he has worked through the Midnight Squad as in the tip mission above.
Also, he never invites Nemesis to anything. -
THe thing about humor is that it's extremely subjective. I'm sure we've all had the experience of getting a huge laugh out of something that a friend/family-member/co-worker/guy-at-the-bus-stop says "just isn't funny." Or the other way around.
There are people who watch Full House reruns and think it's a riot. I'm not one of those people. Most of that group might watch an episode of Futurama and not "get it" at all while I love it to bits. -
Three words: Six Beacon Teleporters
Oh, and what looks like an invasion by the Zerg.
