stone/dark brute here teams with a fire/kin corruptor.
It's fast, furious and fun. -
typing zzz just gives an indication that you are out of the fight for whatever reason.
I've teamed with enough people who have tried to type "immoblisedledss" when by the time they have typed it the hold has worn off. -
Wow that's a hugely retarded exploit. Kudos for thinking of it but surely the devs would have seen that one coming? You'd have thought so. Maybe.
-
not sure of exact figures but safe to say that once hit with this, you pretty much hit them every time afterwards.
I slotted mine 2 acc, 2 recharge, 1 end red so it's available a lot of the time and I use it as part of my normal attack chain to keep a lot of targets slowed to the maxmimum slow (in combination with snow storm) -
combined with unyeilding which gives a small amount of all round resistance (apart from psi), the two passives resit energies and elements give about 20% res when all are 3 slotted.
RPD is worth taking and 3 slotting purely because it is passive and adds to temp inv and unyeilding's resitances. -
Thanks god for that it has finally been changed.
I can play with sound again
I notice it doesn't seem to be in the patch notes though. Nlo surprise there though. -
dry ice, an ice/cold corruptor would like an invite - level 10 at present.

I believe that Fury is generated as you are attacked as well.

yep - like I said, taking an alpha strike from a fair sized spawn and a couple of attacks gives me about half a bar.
As for running around desperately looking for more mobs to smash, Give me speed boost and the whole team has to play catch up as I rampage through the mission
there's an lt - Seismic smash + fault = disoriented lt. SMASH the minions, death shroud finishes them off then SMASH the lts. If there's a boss then SMASH repeatedly until death. By the time he's down, the minions are on half health from full fury death shroud action in their faces.
Always SMASH directly in the face. -

slot Accuracy, End reduction and Recharge before you slot for damage.

level 28 and still no damage slots in any of my attacks.
all my attacks except brawl have 2 accuracy and 2 endurance reduction. I will slot 2 damage when I get a surplus of slots and my defenses are all sorted. -
try stone melee for the ultimate in SMASHING
4 attacks brawl, boxing, air superiority, stone hammer and heavy mallet will see you through to level 18 or so.
It's a great powerset (I play stone/dark and I really recommend it)
my attack chain is: *biff*boff*SLAM*biff*SLAM*SMASH*biff*boff*SLAM*bif f*boff*SLAM*SMASH and it never ends until the mission does.
Team with a kinetics corruptor and it's a milion times better -
If thats how you feel then I guess a brute isn't for you (as you say).
The brawl/boxing combo looks great to my mindI don't wait for fury to rise - usually a couple of attacks and taking a big alpha strike from a mob gives me at least half a bar from a cold start... more than enough to smash their faces in with my big attacks.

but is cof more useful in pvp than opressive gloom? Have you tried both?
disorients from op gloom would stack with disorients from my stone melee attacks so im taking op gloom for that reason alone but for pvp i might also take cof if oppressive gloom is useless. -
think it's 3% defence so the general consensus seems to be that like combat jumping's 2% defence, it's not worth slotting.
However, combined with cj, 5% isn't too bad I suppose - almost as good as an ice tank :P -
Ok I am seriously recommending this powerset combo to any new brutes out there.
Level 26 now and the amount of soft control via disorient and knockdown in stone melee is great. Dark armor is great in terms of all round resistance and when I get oppresive gloom it will stack with my other disorient powers to make me even more hardcore.
One question though... how does disorient do in pvp? I get the feeling cloak of fear might be more useful for pvp? -
Seismic Smash is bloody great.
Really short animation time + huge damage -
I have not experienced either of these bugs.
Sometimes my AS is interupted because I didn't pause for quite long enough before starting the strike. -
What is the end use on tough? I can't find any info on it and hero planner has it at 0.22 per sec.
-
TG is a great heal. I had mine slotted 3 acc/3 heal - maybe a bit overkill but it helps when an enemy has really high base defence.
Think of it this way. You are playing a Dark powerset. Dark powers are usually associated with a curse of some kind. In this case, when TG misses (and this is ALWAYS when you really need it to hit), that's your curse
Also, as has already been said, you need to try and pre-empt when the heals will be needed. If someone is on very low health it's too late. You definitely need to use it right after the first few seconds of battle when some poor chump gets the alpha strike from all the mobs.
Correct me if I'm wrong but I think it's the most powerful aoe heal in the game, and it debuffs as well.
Twilight grasp in my experience has saved a team wipe many times. If two or three team members die and are resurrected all at once it can really turn the tide of a battle. -

You need end reds in your mallets and murky cloud (3x End redux 3x Damage) or you will be a gimp with no endurance I'm afraid.

He means death shroud -
I like it on my fire/kin controller
if any enemies close in to melee range I quickly turn it on long enough to send them all flying then turn it off again to save end.
I also use it to keep particularly dangerous boses on their backs.
tip: get into position before turning it on so you dont knock the boss the wrong way. -
its stone melee and dark armour rock eagle.
I also run out of end a lot clown. I carry more blue pills than green for that reason.
I have no problem getting fury up - brawl>boxing>air superiority to build fury then the stone hammer attacks when fury is up. -

Nearest thing I have to an escape power is desperately hitting one person to try and pound a green out of them before I go downOnce I have my Fury I dont care where my health bar is - I'm fighting!
[/ QUOTE ]
So true. Sometimes I get so into it I am genuinely surprised when I die because I've been watching the fury bar instead of the health bar.
Brutes should be renamed beserkers -
I love this combo. Only stone melee feels utterly SMASHtastic and dark armour has some great utility powers.
Here is my build:
Archetype: Brute
Primary Powers - Ranged : Stone Melee
Secondary Powers - Support : Dark Armor
01 : Dark Embrace damres(01) damres(7) damres(9) endred(13)
01 : Stone Mallet acc(01) dam(3) dam(5) endred(15)
02 : Heavy Mallet acc(02) dam(3) dam(5) endred(17) endred(19)
04 : Death Shroud acc(04) dam(7) dam(11) endred(15) endred(23) endred(25)
06 : Air Superiority acc(06) dam(9) dam(11)
08 : Swift runspd(08)
10 : Obsidian Shield endred(10) endred(13) endred(17)
12 : Combat Jumping jmp(12)
14 : Super Jump jmp(14)
16 : Health hel(16)
18 : Seismic Smash acc(18) endred(19)
20 : Stamina endrec(20) endrec(21) endrec(21) endrec(23)
22 : Dark Regeneration acc(22)
my attack chain is brawl>air superiority and the weaker mallet power to get fury up then the Heavy mallet as a boss killer move when fury is charged.
stone melee has a lot of slowly recharging high damage powers which is not so good for fury building which is why I went for air superiority. I notice you took stone fists and I was wondering how speedy that is to recharge? Air superiority for me is an ace attack - almost perma knockdown is posible when combined with the two mallet attacks. You can keep a boss on his back indefinitely with those three attacks.
Good powerset choices in my humble opinion.
EDIT - forgot to say that death shroud is great for getting aggro from a whole spawn to keep the squishies alive although I sometimes have to turn it off if I start to get overwhelmed and let the aggro flow back to the squishies. With a bit of fury death shroud is awesome doing really good damage every tick. Fury + death shroud is great -
Stone/Dark
OH MY GOD - I guarantee anyone who uses this build will enjoy it... brawl - air superiority and the two mallet attacks = a full fury bar in seconds and perma knockdown/up with air sup and the mallet attacks rules.
Death shroud gets you lots of aggro so your fury bar stays up. I teamed with a kinetics/fire corruptor last night and we whizzed through missions. -
I replaced taunt with provoke because it hits more targets - 2 acc 3 taunt 1 recharge - works better than taunt n my opinion and gives access to the fear powers which are kinda useful too
