This is a message going out to all my global friends, mainly on Defiant. I hope this gets to as many of you as possible.
I recently resubbed after a short break away of a month and a half or so, and returned to find *gasp*shock*horror* my Global Friends list completely empty. Also, my own global nick had changed.
Now, I don't know if this was a bug or an intended feature (grr), and if it was the former then you probably all know about it already.
Anyway, some of my friends reported me having disappeared from their lists, others reported me still being there but with a different nick.
In either case, I can't see any of you on my list anymore. I've added the few I could remember, but some of these didn't work properly and needed some fiddling from both sides.
So if you used to have me on your global friends list, please please please feel free to re-add me. I've found that you'll need to first remove me altogether if I'm still there and then resend the invite for it to work properly.
My original global was @Oneiros. My current global is now @Mr TPF, (note the space). Once you remove me, you can readd using /gfriend @Mr TPF. I hope that works if I'm offline.
If you can't get it to work, please send me an offline msg in-game or just respond in this thread.
Feeling very lonely here
Thanks all. -

all of a sudden vengeance kicks in on the whole mob, and you may as well just turn off your shields and lie down.

I can see why they call you MrMotivator -
Cool, sounding great. Another 10 or so lvls to go then.
Can't wait, dam mit... must ... play.... must... lvl..... must be .... invincible! -
Thanks for the comeback. Tbh, I wasn't looking forward to the gadgetty look of Aid Self. Didn't feel right with my concept. I'm still open to discussion from others.
I do have an extra power choice between Hibernate and Greater Ice Sword, so I _could_ fit Weave in.
Assuming I took Tough and Weave, what is the optimal slotting on each? They both seem to burn more endurance than my ice armours. -
Hello tankers
I've got a lvl20 Ice/Ice tanker that I am *really* loving. Just doing a little forward planning and have reached a point where power pools should come into play. To give you some context:
He is a PvE team-play tanker. I'm leaning towards defense/mitigation rather than going for attack powers (ok ok, I know attack IS mitigation, but let's not get into that)
I'm running Frozen Armour, Wet Ice, Icicles and Chilling Embrace. I've taken Stamina, with 3-slotted Health, and I have a 6-slotted Hoarfrost. I have no endurance problems at the moment. My next 3 power choices will be Ice Patch, Glacial Armour and Energy Absorption. I plan to take Hibernate when I can, slotted for recharge and health.
The dilemma I face at the moment is choices at 28 and 30. I'm leaning towards Aid Self (excellent in defense-based set such as Ice/ but will I really need it with Hoarfrost and Hibernate with 3 recharge each?) or Tough (15% base resistance to s/l seems a nice way to deal with those streaks of bad luck). Both powers aim to increase survivability and both require a preceeding choice in the respective pool.
Another alternative is Hasten, to boost recharge on my existing self-heals.
I will most likely try both cases when I get to that point and decide, but I enjoy playing with my builder and planning ahead.
So, in your experience fellow Icers, which would you say will yield better survivability overall and why?
Thanks in advance. -
That's very true, Hammerfall. As somebody that had SJ on most of his other chars prior to this (which is one reason I went speed this time), switching to SS was both shocking and rather horrible.... at first. Now I'm used to it and have learned some good routes around the maps, it's really rather fun. So far I've been getting by with the GvE jump pack, and the safeguard Raptors. One of our team also has respec'd into Recall Friend.
So basically I'm gonna see how it goes and perhaps take vertical if I can't handle the frustration -
Quick update in case you three were interested
I'll be dropping Whirlwind from the build. Tried it last night, some thoughts can be found here. I'm going to replace with PowerPush after all, which has proven to be of great use in our team keeping those pain-in-the-censored foes out of the way till we can deal with them. eg Tsoo sorcerors, Lost bosses and so on.
Shame really, coz it would have been nice to have *gasp* identity in the build for once. -
Thanks Sin, that does make sense. That's actually good news, assuming that most enemy attacks have a smash or lethal component. In that case it makes me wonder what the point is of having shields for resistance or defence against different types instead of just smash/lethal. I suppose to clear that up, I should try to find a list of damage types by mob faction.
-
I had a very similar experience last night and it really shocked me, so first thing this morning I decided to search the forum for related accounts and here we are.
My ice/ice tank was a fresh lvl20. I was teamed with two scrappers and a dark defender, and we'd arrived in Talos to hit 30 Tsoo for Serge. At one point we were tackling a large mob, at least 7 or 8, of Green Ink Men. You know, the kind that kneel around in large circles as if meditating or something. They were all 24s and purple to me, but I was taking it well with support from the team. I could hardly see my own char from all the Green Inks around me, it was quite amusing.
Then suddenly the text 'STUNNED' appeared top right of my screen and to my jaw-dropping suprise I noticed all my toggles had been dropped! The mez lasted only a few seconds and I was able to get armours back up very quickly so this fortunately did not result in me going down - but it could have.
At the time I was running Frozen Armour and Wet Ice in terms of shields. I don't have Glacial Armour yet. The ironic thing was that as a tank with mez protection running, I didn't ever expect to need Break Frees, so I'd been getting rid of them all day!
I figured it must have been due to severe stacking from all the attacks pounding on me at the same time, and this thread confirms so thanks for that. Also, the advice given on avoidance/mitigation makes sense too. I'll bear this in mind in future battles with Inked Tsoo and in general.
The incident also brought back a question I've been wondering about regarding ice armour defences. According to Sherksilver and various other sources, Frozen Armour gives defense to smash and lethal. I was wondering why I also seem to dodge/deflect attacks of different nature.
Green Ink Men would be a good example, since they fight with energy melee attacks. Much of the time last night, my shields were holding and I was avoiding any hits. Is this because there was a smash component to their energy attacks? If so, does the relative composition of types that make an attack have any bearing on how well it does against defense or resistance based armours?
eg, would a 70%smash/30%energy attack tend to be mostly dodged by Frozen Armour, whereas a 30%smash/70% tend to have a larger chance to get through?
Or would both have equal chance to be avoided because my armour has defence against at least one component type?
Hope that makes sense. Thanks. -
Oh well, you may still be in luck... I think I remember seeing a note about a Katie Hannon TF being organised for today 17th on the Events channel.
-
Can be on this evening, around or after tenish. Can be around Saturday/Sunday whenever(ish). Preferably sat/sunday for me.
-
Anybody in need of the badge(s) awarded during this TF? Members needed are 6, but we still have one slot remaining for a full team of 8, possibly two (due to a cold). Lvl range is 30 - 34, we'll be starting at 19:00 UK time in Croatoa. Team makeup so far is:
tank/tank - (dont remember, but he's all tank)
MA/SR
MA/Reg
Kat/Inv
Earth/Emp
Grav/Kin
Kin/Dark - (has a cold, may not make it)
TF overview is here.
Teamplayers welcome! -
Ok, so lots of requests for tells, but who is actually organising and sending them?
Callista, would that be you? And do we have any 'friendly' villains to help?

We managed to do this yesterday and everyone on the team got the Stouthearted badge

Except yours truly and Pinkette, that is. Leese has kindly offered to help us with the outstanding bagde on her alt though.
Gratz to all, and well done!

We even got to whack Captain Mako as an added bonus

Heheh, I was struggling to get close to have a proper look at the guy - what with all the cages and volcanic gases and pets and scrappers huddled around beating the [censored] out of him... couldn't see a thing, except his HP bar -
Well, I'd rather do things over a couple of evenings - if everyone's available that is.

Im always up for demonstrating my Stamina-less builds,
[/ QUOTE ]
I'd take you up on that please, I wouldn't mind seeing your build here or via PM if it's easy for you to do. Not because I want you to prove it, but because I'm having endurance problems with my own budding energy/energy and your input would help finalise my own build (its in the blasters section if you'd like to post there instead). -
I'm doing Katie Hannon on Friday starting at 19.00, but would love to join you afterwards if any farming is planned. 37 Controller, and poop. Oops, ment 'and pet'.
Are there any prerequisites to spawning the hordellings, eg a mixed CoX team, or was that just for the other badges? -
Hi again. Here's a new build for your comments and critisism. Main differences to previous one is dropping Health for Swift, losing CP, and swapping PP for WW.

38) --> Total Focus==> Acc(38)Dmg(39)Dmg(39)Dmg(39)EndRdx(40)
---------------------------------------------
I decided to lose CP since I would have taken it shortly after Stamina anyway, and by then I should have a good idea of my endurance needs. If I'm struggling at that point, I'll be able to pick it so no problem there.
WW is back in the build, mainly for fun factor - something inside me says 'take it! take it!'. Also because the two other blasters on our KB team have either already chosen PP or will be doing so, so I figured variety might be nice. I'll see how it goes.
Oh, I also included Explosive Blast. This was mainly because none of the other choices at that point were particularly appealling. I'll see what that feels like on test first maybe. Not very sure on best slotting for it. I figure it's a scattering move so slot for that, and also slot for endurance reduction since it's rather heavy there.
My enhancements were chosen in order this time, so if something is clearly a bad idea please feel free to say so. I'm pondering more interrupt reduction on Snipe, though I _think_ I've read somewhere that endurance reduction is more efficient?
(yay, forums letting me post finally! [censored] was up with that??) -
Thanks Standoff, all good suggestions. Was considering a swap with PP or CP myself - I'll have to wait and see how it goes post-stamina. This character was primarily created for fun, so I should really stick to that if I can.
-
Hm, the hero planner specifies 40% heal rate for unslotted Health and around 77% 3-slotted. Can you help me understand your numbers? If yours are the case, there is certainly no point to taking it on this character.
-
Ok, Im a little confused. You say youre missing KR - do you mean the KR safeguard to save Altas Bank? I would assume so, but then you list Atlas Park Separately so this confuses me.
I have two alts in the 11-15 range. One of them has done it already, the other has the mish ready 'Protect Atlas Park bank'.
Is this the one you mean? -
Ok, here's another possible build, this time with Stamina. Some points are:
This build felt far less tight than the previous one, in which I was pressed for slots. In this build, I had quite a few options. The first build had 11 attacks, 12 if you count whirlwind. This build has 10. I slotted health for reasons mentioned in previous post. If this is generally considered a [bad idea, I could donate the slots elsewhere. Removing Assault (ie 10% dmg buff) allowed me to better slot powers with more dmg SOs overall, so perhaps that is a worthwhile trade.
This build feels more solid, but I've dropped some fun factor like whirlwind, and not too sure how happy I am with that.

Working on a new build with Fitness atm. I'm going to take Hurdle over Swift since I have SS, and Health for same reason. I often hear players saying Health isn't such a great choice for squishes because the buff isn't really enough to compensate for the rate of dmg received. Therefore, a quick question is, would 3slotting Health be a no no on this character, assuming it would boost recovery to around 77%?
edit: I wonder if it would be improved further by Power Boost.

I take it you didn't have too much trouble with your single Acc per attack?
