  1. Id love to come, but unfortunately am on vacation then and will not be in CoH.

I have been thinking more and more about PvP lately, but it sounds like builds and strategies are very different than PvE.

Maybe if you have another of these sometime I could join up. Im sure you vets get a kick out of marshmallow targets.
  2. I should use this thread to thank and appologize to .Liberty Lady (I think that was the name).

She joined myself and a few others on a Sister Psyche TF, and this caused her to miss the costume contest. Sorry Lady.
  3. I would like an invite as well. Hopeing to join or run some TFs this weekend.

    Global: @Gord Thompson

    Thanks in advance!
  4. I am loving my PB. I feel like I can fit into any team and take on a few different roles if there is a gap in the team. I have found leveling up my PB, that I almost needed to have Nova form in the early levels, and now that I have Dwarf, I am able to stand in with tanks.

(As a side note I have noticed many tanks which do not take taunt. When I am in dwarf form I use taunt constantly, and find that I am able to compliment, even sometimes overshadow the tanks that do not have it / use it)

Recently I took on a side kick and did a mission, he was a scrapper and ran into a room before me. I was in human form about to 'charge up'. I ran in, pulsar, solar flare, Essence Boost, Conserve Energy, Hasten, Build up. He was almost dead at this point and I had taken half my health by the time I had activated these powers. I switched to dwarf form, scrapper fell, and my resistance dropped slightly. I gulped 2 small lucks, 1 small resist, 1 small damage, and took on two groups with the scrapper lying at my feet. I used sublimation to keep my health around 1/4 and saw my end slowly increasing. about 3/4 of the way through the groups the scrapper said "wow, you are amazing".

Ok, I used some insp, so not "that" amazing, but still nice to hear. Really nice to hear considering my dwarf form has 3 slots (2 resist 1 end reduction), and only 1 dwarf attack has slots (4 slots 1 is damage).

I think for someone looking for some versatility this is the AT for you!!

Gorgar, I used my Nova form from level 6 to level 20. and even then I would switch it up to Nova from time to time when some damage needed to be dished out. It takes time for each form to develop, so although my Dwarf gets compliments, at level 27 this form is not complete.

I can understand why this AT is reserved for people who have acheived lvl50. Although I consider myself a smart person I have found this AT to be very complicated, and require a great deal of micro management.
  5. Here is a related question. What is the case when a Performance Shifter Chance for +End is slotted in both Stamina AND Quick Recovery? Will there be two chances for +End each 10 seconds? What if both hit, do they stack?

I just promote enjoying good beers ...

    YES!
My newest favourite is Rochefort. A Trappist beer from Belgium.

A bit rare to find, and a bit pricy to buy, but one or two of these is all you need. Wonderful beer! I dont think a Trappist brewery could be considered a large corporation, so DD, you could be free to enjoy one of two of these fine brews. If you have a specialty shop nearby, and enjoy beer, try one of these out. The Rochefort 10, is ... very unique.

Grav has a good single-target attack chain in GD-Crush

    [/ QUOTE ]

    I use something like:
    GD - Crush - secondary power - Crush - GD - Crush
I use a /kin and have plenty of great powers to fill in here. The secondary you pick might have a power that fits, or perhaps you could try lift.

IMO, Crush, GD, and Crushing Field are grav's bread and butter. I have stuck to the basics and had great success.

The singularity can really help with the holds, and is rather valuable if you are soloing. Check the range on Singularity, it is not that great. Good adivce I read on the boards was to use stealth of some sort to get close enough for the singularity to attack and take agro, you can then back off to get range and 'let 'er rip'

A variation is to summon the singularity close enough to a group to have it attack/repel and take the initial strike. I have used the singularity to delay an ambush, re-summoning him between the team and the enemies attacking from the flank.

solid powers that require no slots

    [/ QUOTE ]

I never actually thought of that. I usually think of 3 in each, but since my human form is the only one that will benefit, perhaps toning down the slots is the answer.
  9. I am playing a PB and have managed to get to level 21. I have not really gone into the secondary power pools (I did take hasten), but I am very curious about one particular power. Stamina.

Being fairly new I was given advice on my first character "Take stamina at level 20, and at level 21, put two slots into it." This has worked for the other characters I have played, but I am not so sure with the PB. If I am in form, the Health/Stamina do nothing for me, and honestly my human form is not that strong (yet).

I was thinking I would use the hasten/conserve power combination, but it does not appear that this will work 100% of the time. I am a bit worred that if I do not take stamina, my human form will have many troubles with endurance usage. I would really like to take the self heal at 22, and the conserve power at 24.

Should I consider Stamina as on other characters as "necessary"?
  10. is this the channel where people can broadcast organizing TFs and events and such?

    MA/SR in PvP?

Does this mean soft capped defenses 'just don't cut it' in PvP?

    Plusar

I was originally thinking I would do the same. Have the KB proc in Pulsar, and then use Solar Flare and Pulsar as sort of an 'area clearing' power combination. Not too sure if that will work out or not, but it might be fun!

It seems the PB is really a 'jack of all trades' and I am thinking that I should probably take it just because it is unique. I am not sure if any slots will really help the power. I will likely slot it with 2 stupify, some Acc and recharge?

I have not looked at a WarShade yet, but wow are these Kheldian's complicated! More options than a brand new Cadillac!

Can someone tell me about this power? a PBAoE sounds so interesting, but the numbers don't look so hot. This is a 45s recharge MAG 2 stun? I am fairly new, but I seem to remember my MA had Cobra Strike (MAG 3) and it was 'ok', but generally needed a couple hits to ensure something was stunned. If that needs 2 hits, then Pulsar would need 3 to do the same thing?

Is this power used much, has anyone had success with it? I would love to try it out.
  15. Hi, I am a fairly new player and have started up some toons on Lib. I would love to attend some TFs this weekend!

I am going to do my best to be there!
  16. I saw another Circuit Board go for 5M!?! Nevermelting ice for 80M???

Um ... the AE vendor sells random common slavage for a whooping 8 AE tickets. I can get Nevermelting ice in seconds. Guess its back to the basics if I can make 80M inf for 8 AE tickets! LOLL
  17. MrSuzi

    Many Thanks

I love the enhancements in this game. When I started I saw how much inf I was bringing in, I would sell things that would get snapped up for prices *far* below the numbers in the history. I was discouraged at how I would ever get a 'Numina's' or any of the other recipies that looked so interesting. (I never really looked at the pre-made goods, only for recipies, so I guess in that regard I was already a step ahead of many players).

I started reading the forums. I took a lot of different advice. I practiced patience.

I made many different characters in the 3 months I have played. The most notable are a 50 and a 48, along with a few 20s, and a handful of 10-20. I do not try to make inf on all of them, but on a few I am active with my marketing. I recently did a rough count of the INF i have on hand. Combined I have roughly 350M. I have at least 500M inf in sets, and IOs between 2 toons!

I used to think i was up to no good buying that salvage for 200 and selling for 10,000. Then I realized buying that salvage for cheap is helping someone out. they post something they do not want, I hand them inf. They are the ones who posted it that low, not me. I am a middleman, handling goods and selling prices accordingly. I have enjoyed this. I was having a great time picking up incoming salvange for 1k and flipping for 90k, making 1m inf in about 20 minutes with a level 2 toon. I think that is fun, I am enjoying the game for it that is for sure.

Having this knowledge has allowed me to explore this games many features. I can build sets, or just use standard IOs. I can share IOs with other 'less fortunate' toons. (basically I attribute 'less fortunate' to not reading, laziness, or impatience) I have come to realize that there is no item in the game which is 'unacheivable' to me now. The doors are opening.

I'd like to say thanks to all of you who have taken the time to write guides, or spend the few minutes to give suggestions. You have really helped me enjoy this game so much more.

    I'd check out this thread.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Thanks! I can't wait to go through these!
And thanks Nihilii for taking the time to compile them.

I am really looking forward to making a new scrapper, and my two leading secondaries are Inv and WP. This thread is very helpful.
  20. I do use Storm Kick as much as possible, its fast and does great damage. I am missing out on Crippling Axe Kick huh. I had thought about that, and the numbers look appealing. I had tried it previously and was a bit turned off .. maybe the animation!? I was probably just being vain.

I have only been playing this game for a few months. I have also never played any MMoG's before so this is all a bit new to me. So please bear with me if I ask some odd questions.

This attack chain can be as few as 3 attacks? I currenly use 4, Storm Kick, Crane Kick, Dark Blast, and TT. A previous poster seemed to think TT might not be worth it, it is looking more and more like this is the case.

Should I consider not taking an epic pool? Or perhaps Focused Accuracy and Laser Beam Eyes? What are the thoughts on Aid Self? Will this power become more neccessary as I take on tougher opponents? Or is this power considered *manditory* for this type of character? (I have no ways of gaining Health or Endurance)

Big Game .. I like it. I do like a challenge. These 54 groups seem like a challenge that I can handle (or almost). I prefer to not take insp. If I start to rely on them to tackle a difficult group or single then there will come a time when I will run out. A power like Aid Self is something I could rely on (although the interruptable adds some risk).
  21. Great advice, thanks!
I have done some shuffling around, Mids shows a great improvement! I am going to try it on the test server.

    [ QUOTE ]
... No need to hunt level 54 Rikti unless you're enjoying it.

    [/ QUOTE ]
I am! This made me ask myself why am I doing this, if not for pruple drops? I think I am after the toughest oppents I can readily find. I dont like facing opponents I can't or 'shouldn't be able to' defeat. These lvl54s seem like a logical stepping stone.

    [ QUOTE ]
If you're min-maxing, procs generally are slotted only on the highest-recharge powers in very-high-recharge builds, as that's the only place they help more than just throwing in a Dam/Rech enhancer from another set.

    [/ QUOTE ]
I am not sure what you mean by this.
Do you mean slotting a 'Chance for' is better than a double in the long run?

    [ QUOTE ]
how often do you use Tenebrous Tentatcles?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Quite often. It seems to do ok damage, its a 'kind of' of AoE, has a -to hit. Laser Beam Eyes was very appealing with the -Def, and the to hit Buff from Focused Accuracy. I am not sure about conserve Power, and Torrent is right out. Those were the other options I was thinking of.

To be quite honest, the Martial Arts attacks are not that appealing. I like Storm Kick, and Crane Kick is great, the knockback is a bit of a mixed blessing. Thunder Kick *looks* good, but does not seem to do much damage. Eagle Claw seems to take forever to connect. What choices do I have?!?
  22. I have also been playing for a few months, and reading these forums. I have used what people have said in here and done almost exactly as you described above (aside from the recipes from AE I'll try that!)

    I just hit 153M!
I have several full sets that will all last me until 50. Then it happened.

I have learned a lot on these boards. Do your research, place appropriate bids, sell your goods for a 'reasonable' price. And most importantly .. be patient. Then it happened.

I SWEAR was 20M lower than the last time I had checked. I only check every so often mind you ... but still! I didnt do my homework .. I didnt place a 'reasonable bid' .. I didn't wait. I bought 2!

I just spent a GOOD chunk, and Im gonna to slot what I have purchased. Uniques are great! I'm basically going to have to start my stockpile over ... ah well. Making 1B will be a long way away ... those purples cost a fortune :P
  23. I'll start by thanking the responders to my previous post about SR defenses, with your advice I put together the defense I have now, my thanks. But as this post says, a critique is appreciated.

I have been playing regularly for 3 months now and have a level 50 MA/SR scrapper. I feel this character is pretty tough, or at least as survivable as I had hoped. I am not sure about the offense.

So here I am at level 50, I dont have the best procs, but I do have some very nice ones. I have tried to balance my offense and defense, maybe with a bit of priority on my defense.

I selected the Darkness Ancillary pool as I thought the -to hit, alternate damage source, and ranged attack from Dark Blast would be very useful. I also thought the DoT from Tenebrous Tentacles might give me an edge on dps. What do you think?

He seems to have a problem with accuracy unfortunately. I have read that taking on lvl54 bosses in RWZ could result in a 'purple' drop, I have tried this with limited success (I especially notice a lot of misses here). I substituted a 5 set of LotG (no +rech ) for a Red Fortune, I am hoping this will help. I was primarily focused on Melee, Ranged, and AoE def, but noticed my psi is pretty high too, is this something I should reslot for to get capped? Will this help in RWZ?

I have read some comments about the 'limitations' of MA, is this true?? Am I missing something or things that would really improve my character?

Im up for renewal and would like to try another scrapper. suggestions?

    Thank you in advance.
