NOOOOOOO don't get stamina!!!
what a waste
my two cents:
sod fitness pool; get conserve power from the power mastry pool.
i have no end issues cause either conserve or RA is always up, and as mentioned earlier u don't need health, so may as well forgo the whole pool. (and i have never had major problems when exemped for TFs and lost conserve either for that matter)
don't slot CM, theres no need. its fast enuf anyway imho. also rez doesn't need slots cause the idea is that u only use it VERY occasionally.
and personally i'd take absorb pain. it owns, simple as. -
hmm that may explain why i couldn't get my lvl40 arc... will have to have a look at that later.
forum ftw =D -
personally i don't understand it. If it was a PB playing in dwarf fair enuf, but warshade dwarf is pretty poor in all honesty. I only use it for double mire or extreme cases where someone needs to tank(i.e. tank goes down vs an AV or somethin like that) even then, it is apalling at tanking without eclipse up, and i have dwarf slotted
Also, for a ws, the best way to take a quant/void imo is tp to him, hold/disorient/both, switch to nova, kill the sucker!
I can understand that some people don't like nova, but even an unslotted nova form will do more damage than the slots he could have had in dwarf at that point i think -
personally AoE wise. DM/FA is the way to go imho. and if u know how, u can build it stamina-less too cause u get two end drains.
in the end it means you get 1 damage aura, 2* AoE dmg end drain, 2* self heal, 1* good damage aoe cone and 1* AoE damage/build up. oh, and burn....which come i7, should be useful again =) praise the lord! -
from my experiance, and this could be totally different today as it was a while ago, when i have been in pvp with my brute it got held by an ice blaster's hold. through its mez protection, acrobatics and two break frees...
Now i know fiery Aura isn't exactly designed for PvP, but i was always dissapointed at the really low level of mex protection it afforded. So if things havent changed I don't see why a WS can't hold something.
As it stands, you have a disorient aura, and a disorient cone attack, and a hold. Surely you go for disorient as your first attack, then try the hold.
Havent tried it in PvP. Am waiting for a respec to give this a go. But with a PvE build i took on a regen (got owned) but he said by the end of it his powers had virtually stopped recharging altogether, so thats gotta come in handy if you use a PvP build.
out of interest has anyone tried using a high accuracy slotted mire/eclipse when they see an AS is about to happen? I'd imagine if you could disturb an AS with mire it may freak the stalker out if you made a bind to fire off the mire and say "Hello, Stalker who is about to die" in local. may be a bit cocky, and embarrasing if they then own you.....but would be funny to see the look on their face if you did that then held em and pounded em to death -
what are the end redux in regen and recov aura for?
i understand u may think "what if we're all low on end and it recharges mid battle and i dont have enuf end to use it" but it doesnt cost that much end really
also u certainly dont need it in regen aura because...
you drop both at same time at start of battle, and both have the same number of recharge enhances. so they will both be ready again at roughly the same time. if u drop recovery aura first, there is no way in hell you wont have enough end for regen aura after that, cause it boosts ur end. you may as well put two more heals in it and that will mean you get to do less work -
Ok.
drop all the range increases you have. you shouldnt be far enough away from the action to need em.
drop invis, you cant heal people whislt using it therefore making it useless for a pure empath build.
get absorb pain.
dont get leadership. stick with sj for travel power, but dont bother slotting cj and acrobatics.
dont slot rez, once ur past the hollows if your team is dieing enuf that u need to have it slotted for recharge ur doin something SERIOUSLY wrong.
Dont get fitness pool. theres no need tbh
*******************************************
MY SETUP:
heal aura - 3* heal, 3* recharge
heal other - 3* heal, 3* recharge
absorb pain - 3* heal, 3* recharge
rez - 1* end red
fortitude - 2* to hit, 3* def buff
recov aura - 3*recharge 3* end mod
CM - nothing
regen aura - 3* recharge 3* heal
AB - 2* heal, 3* recharge, 1* end mod
pools:
cj, sj, acro all one slotted for end red
tp friend
stealth, grant invis (for squishies)
power mastry:
conserver power - 3* recharge
******************************************
you can get any other pwoers u want. blasts etc... the other power mastry powers are quite good. go for leadership if u really want... but imo it aint worth it. with conserve and RA u never run out of end.
I have no problems with this build personally. may consider gettin hasten at some point if i respec. -
personally. i'd take rez at 6. tp friend at 8.
below level 10 theres no real call for CM. and if u get held and die, no debt and the defender can tp u back from hossie if rez was charging.
personally I did slot rez. 6 slots actually. I was new and in the hollows, and teams get wiped out, thats a fact of hollows life. I respec'd later on and left it unslotted.
also - to whomever said that cause of ED you have spare slots you really dont. 3*heal 3*recharge on all heals. fort gets the same as it used to anyway for me. RAs get 3*recharge 3*(heal/end mod). AB gets 3*recharge 3*(heal/end mod)
Personally i dropped hasten when we lost perma hasten, havent missed it cause of the recharge on my heals cause of ED. If you want to go for the healer build, get leadership (general buffs all round. bit boring tho) and stealth(means u take less flak mid battle) and invis other (useful for squishies). Also i go for superjump. you get basic res to holds, immob and knockback. i find it best to be 'out of action' as little as possible -
if a team is doing so well that all you're doing is occasional buffs, why not set the difficulty up more? if its set to invincible and you're still not having to drop any heals, try doing an AV mission next.... and so on and so on. if the team is fighting that far inside their comfort zone, then there's clearly room for upping the difficulty. personally i like to fight on the edge of death. mega-xp, mega-risk, mega-fun. I actually find that empathy can be a really stressful set if you're in a team that likes to push its boundaries.
to be honest, with a tank and controller the controller can quite often take over a chunk of the defensive duties. i've done many tf's with no defender, but a good illu/empathy troller i know. again, with small teams, the mobs are smaller and lower lvl, and theres less people to heal, so the heals you do are used on the same people rather than distributed. find a bigger team. invite some lower lvls from ur sg to sidekick. theres lots of options. -
am looking to trade tech for tech (i.e. salvage not components) the components are mine, all mine.....
villain
@ defiant
handle: @Mr Motivator -
imo, i'd rather a squishy was held than running from the battle. a hold i can clear, standing behind a brick wall whilst being followed by minions i refuse to, cause it puts the rest of the team in a compromised position if the empath is chasing squishies all over the place. As far as i recall thats a trait people get out of after they leave the hollows.
No offence intended to whoever it was who said they get two shotted by an AV....but my fire brute doesnt get two shotted by AV's ffs. and they have a fair bit less dmg res than an invuln tank does. either you've got your diff set too high (i.e. dont fight an AV on hardest diff, it takes too long, and overall isnt worth it) or you need to respec, big style.
I dont use CM very much. against most enemy types it aint needed, and sj is a very popular travel power, so a lot of squishies at least have SOME protection (cj, acro). Yes I do team with a lot of good tanks. i've teamed with some bad tanks also, but never more than once.
I must admit, that in lvl 50 teams there isnt the urgency there is when debt matters. so i have probably got a bit sloppy. but...an empath can happily keep an 8 man team alive using only heal aura, absorb pain, and heal other. I have never known of anyone being able to keep an 8 man team alive using only cm, fortitude and AB. if anyone reckons they can, theyre chatting bubbles. so imo, YES the heals (oh no i called them heals, please dont flame me) are more important than the buffs.
having said that, i would not respect any empathy defender who didnt have ALL the primaries. you can make a decent empath with a selection of them, the only one a good empath doesnt need is rez. (for doesnt, read shouldn't)
-
well i have a full load of aberrant tech....if you are on defiant and wanna do a trade sometime. i'll take spider eyes, arachnoid venom, or exotic alloy
-
tbh with DM/FA i dont really need single target powers except for bosses/AV's but it seems ok. has a fair chunk of end it uses tho.. need to slot for end redux methinks.
-
i had atomic blast until ED hit. it was great. had dark epic too....
RA, soul drain, atomic blast, dark consumption
if you killed em all, you dont need endurance for healing, if you didnt, dark consumption would get it back fully for you.
then they fixed novas so you couldnt use RA to get that first bit of end back which you need to consume em all -

imo, CM and fortitude are not NEEDED as such, but they are very useful powers.

Fort gives 25-30% base buff on Acc, Def & Dam, and thats *not* needed?? I've been playing with my SR scrapper with a very good empath keeping me buffed with Fort. I'm telling you, its the difference between killing loads and face planting. I certainly wouldn't expect a tank to take the aggro from an AV without dropping some Fort on them first either....
[/ QUOTE ]
I didnt say it was not needed. i said it was not NEEDED as such. i have, and always will have them on my def. however, personally i put it on blasters rather than tanks. they need the def, acc and dmg much more vs an av than a tank does imo. i can keep a tanker happily alive no problem - which is its primary role. tankers take the aggro from the AV. that means their primary role is taking damage - something I have 5 other powers to combat. Blasters attack the av. that means their primary role is damage dealing. i only have one buff for that, and it also gives the blaster extra protection vs stray AoE attacks, which means less heals for him, more heals for tanker....
oh and yes, sr scrappers do need all the love they can get... but scrappers are both damage dealers and takers in their general melee role(to a certain degree anyway) so fortitude is great for them.
i'm telling you that if a tank refused to tank an av without fortitude incase they'd die; i would laugh my [censored] off at them. any well slotted empath, after ED, can still nearly full heal most tanks with AB (which is what this thread is about after all). and thats not even counting hitting build up to give em that extra kick. the problem is with squishies getting one shotted. blasters have a higher death rate than any other AT ffs and they are the main offensive brunt in AV slaying imo. -
well, despite managing to double post
i have tested it on test server and am going with midnight grasp over weave. purely cause an extra attack and immob(which has decent damage actually) will be handy in pvp i hope.
thanks guys -
i suppose, yeah but to be honest... i dont team that much cause there arent that many teams where you dont get a corr using a scatter effect or a mm in the team. and i dont team with mm's...
DM has only a few single target attacks in it, and is mostly PbAoe based (as is FA) so often shadow maul is needed to be used as an attack chain early on before fury builds up. i always find once I have full/high fury i hit fiery embrace then soul drain then dark consumption and the mobs mostly dead anyway with BA doing about 50dmg per tick so i just need my big attacks for any bosses left standing -
nope, and i dont know what that means either
-
nope, and i dont know what that means either
-
my build doesnt have stamina or end redux on powers, with ra and conserve power slotted primarily for recharge i never run out of end anyway...
-
personally, before ED the only primary i didnt have was the heal RA. since ED i have changed slotting drastically and have picked up heal RA to give that little extra boost.
imo, CM and fortitude are not NEEDED as such, but they are very useful powers.
Absorb pain can be dangerous, but for me i try not to let two people redline at once. even one in red health is a bit unusual. absorb, for me is for tanks. and only tanks. i will not use it on another AT unless i have no other heals, which isnt often the case as my heals are all 3* heal 3* recharge SO'd. basically, theres too much hp heal for it to be used on other AT's unless as last resort and too much danger to myself (i.e. try fighting nemesis and not taking any flak). -
cool, thanks. it's kinda what i was expecting. but i'm still stuck... if i stack it with cj then thats surely 10% less damage so there is still a plus to it. as tesco say - every little helps. theres so many good powers in DM/FA that i'm not gonna be able to get them all. What is the defence buff of the defence leadership skill? thats about 5% isnt it? so would that be more useful than weave? (although much more irritating to own)
-
This may have been covered before, but I have heard lots of people say weave is useless these days. i was just ready to use my hard won respec, and thought "hang on! if weave sucks, i'll be really annoyed that i didnt try midnight grasp" i'm going to try them out on test, but what do you think of weave for a modern brute? It doesnt help with SMASHing, but it maybe keeps a squishy fire brute alive longer....

well, i can honestly say i use aggro to build fury. tbh, by the time i'm ready to use any attacks (i.e. herded into a corner
) i already have a full fury bar, so it makes little odds to me. and yeah.. i die occasionally, but thats half of the fun, being on the edge of causing destruction or being destroyed yourself. or am i getting too into the SMASH concept here?
