  1. I just saw Pawnn in-game so i'm assuming he is taking a break. I think he deserves it since he is doing this for free.

Unless I saw someone else by the same name...hey Pawnn are you on Guardian and did you just team up with me? (I was Sirius Sol)
  2. You may or may not find this to be "inspiring" but I recently designed a hero outside of CoH that I am rather proud of it. I was lucky enough to get an ink of him from Silver Spectre but so far he is the only drawing I have of him. If you find him interesting perhaps you would like to take a little spin on himANYWAY, lets get to the Details on the Steel Skinned Irishman, Indestructible.

As in his nickname, Indestructible is from Dublin, Ireland. The Celtic armor pieces that he wears are actually family heirlooms from his great great great grandfather. The rubies that decorate it grant him 1 magical power a piece. He wears a total of 8 rubies of various sizes.

The largest ruby of the 8 rests in the center of his belt. Due to it's size it grants him the power of his namesake. The belt ruby makes him COMPLETELY indestructible to harm as well as anything that is close to his body, such as his costume.

The 4 second largest rubies are on his Gauntlet & Greaves. The one on his right hand gives him super human strength while the one on his left hand allows him to emit red energy from his hands that he uses to stun his foes or shatter dense material.
The ruby on his right greave grants him super human speed while the ruby on his left greave allows him to defy gravity and fly.

The last 3 rubies are the smallest of the 8 and decorate his half helm. The ruby on the left side of his helm gives him precognition of disasters both natural and man-made. The ruby on the right side of his helm enables him to hear the truth in people's speech (he can't hear lies). And the ruby in the center of his helm allows him to emit a blast of energy from his eyes that can vary in power from cutting through steel to knocking back a foe unharmed (like Cyclops, not like Superman).

The only pieces of armor he wears are the pieces that have the rubies on them. The rest of his costume is the classic set of tights (complete with underwear on the outside). Here is a sample of his color scheme and tight pattern.

Indestructible's Color Scheme & Tight Pattern

The I on his chest is still up in the air, I have not been able to think of a good design for it (including that big red circle) so it's really up to you. Someone suggested it look Celtic as well (with the classic Celtic roping pattern that is on his armor) so if you want to do something special with it please feel free to do so and if not then just go with the basic "I" and leave out the red circle.

And finally his cape is another wildcard. I've seen designs of him without (ala the City of Heroes picture above) and some without (ala the comic book style linked below) and I am a big believer in a hero needing a cape ONLY when it is symbolic or functional.

Functional: The hero gets a second use out of it (I have a British Batman-esq hero called "The Wyvern" that actually has wings that retract down to become a cape when he isn't using them to fly, sorta like in that cartoon "Gargoyles")

Symbolic: The hero wears the cape in honor of somthing or to symbolize something (Indestructible is a refined version of a Corny hero I designed named Mr. Awesome who wears the Arizona state flag as his cape to honor the state he grew up in)

So as you can see I have no real idea of either of those having meaning for Indestructible. But if you feel he needs one then by all means add it.

  3. I normally wouldn't like it but I dig Detective Darkholme simply because the shot is well done.

And ya, Major Blasto looks nice and Golden/Silver Age (my kind of style!)
  4. Does she have a name? I find it hard to design a costume without a name or theme. If she idolizes Manticore wouldn't she use some kind of mythological creature as her name?

And Piepgrass, excellent use of the word "pressganged."

    [/ QUOTE ]

I agree, that word doesn't get enough play and just sounds so fantastical.
  6. Great work as always SL. You pretty much get better and better with every piece you do. And i'm sure Lightslinger will LOVE the piece when it's done, I know the alot of us at Legion of Valor and looking forward to seeing it (at least the ones that follow the art forum)

    The Watch

    WOW!! That is freaking amazing!!
  8. Rox sure knows how to keep his SG happy. First they get an awesome website and now they get a snazzy Guildhelper Portrait!

    That's wicked cool.
  9. Woah man, that is all kinds of nifty. Who doesn't like ray guns?
  10. Rex is infact my favorite orange rock dude because isn't he is a King or...former King?

    Anyway, great Thing picture.
  11. Wow, I really need a new set of hardware...
  12. HOLY [censored]!!

There is no way you could have better nailed the look. It's like your reached into my mind and pulled out exactly what I wanted!

You sir, have just made it into my top 5 Artists of all time list.

I am just so freakin amazed at this. I wish I knew how to color good in Photoshop cause I really want to color this.
  13. You really shouldn't have made a new folder. That could have been the problem.
  14. Ya it doesn't change anything in game if that's what you think. You just need to remember to always name your Demo files when starting the recording.
  15. type /demorecord nameofdemofile

    That's probably your problem.
  16. The shady you add makes for a great layer of detail that really brings out the sketches. I think you got some great potential there.
  17. Very nice. I can totally see where Spinomania is coming from with it looking like a toon from Super Friends. But in a good way. Excellent work.
  18. OH MAN! I am geeking out on that Mastermind shot. The red eyes from the big bot is so cool and it's just all around epic as hell.

Whats the name of that Mastermind? I'm inspired to make it a Wallpaper.
  19. MrAwesome

    I need advice!

What about a pose where Blue Dagger is carving a Heart into a villain's shirt, to complicated? Sorta like Zorro.

Edit: Heh, nice to know i'm not forgotten. But please take your time. I am far from a needy person.
  20. Fair is pretty subjective. But your art is clean, sharp and just all around AWESOME. I think you could easily get away with some high prices that some of the others get away with. Check out some of the other threads of artists that DO commission such as Alex.
  21. Actually Spectre, that coloring is fantastic and that costume is very Golden Age. It looks like he belongs in the Justice Society of America with that look. (and that's a compliment cause I love me some JSA)
  22. Oh and I really don't see the problem with your posting in .png

.png is higher quality and I think people can stand the extra load time (which is only noticeable on dial-up) to see the highest quality image they can.
  23. Holy moly! That is what I like to call

    31 Flavors of Awesome

Both the oddly clothes Invincibelle and the ROCKing Kilotonnage.

You have a gift my friend, don't hide it in a bushel or basket.

Edit: Oh hey Spectre, did you get that forum PM I sent you?
  24. Well...i'm scared. That's a great shot (and awesome pose).
  25. Ya the sharp lines on Canuck look awesome.
