it doesn't even work that way in real life, it's just a guideline
Quote:But why not throw the nostalgic fans of the old a bone and give them the OPTION to do the old tutorials with new characters? What would it hurt?
Nitpicking isn't getting you over any easier man. -
still think it's something too minor to take into consideration *shrug*
-
The option is there, it's just that one little detail.
-
There's practically no way in regular gameplay you would ever die in the tutorial, even if you were completely new. I can't think of the right word, since manipulate or gaming the system don't seem to apply for what you do. But your pseudo danger is something I wouldn't consider since you have to go out of your way to do it. There's no real fear of being defeated when you have to kill what amounts to...6 Contaminated in hunts? and then a skippable mission.
I understand you'll be missing out on your fun, but this is such a extreme case of a niche thing to do that I can't see the Devs really considering keeping the old tutorials (even though I'm partial to Breakout) outside of Ouroboros. -
it's more epic than herding lvl 1 Contaminated o.O
-
The poor human thugs could use a upgrade too...

You guys are digging incredibly deep into something insignificant.
BABs & Sister Psyche > Flower Knight
Regardless, a little explanation why you can't be defeated (since they would actually die in this scenario) in the new tutorial would be a good thing. The hospital got destroyed, so they can't use mediporters and the giant shivan is interfering w/ regular teleportation. -
Quote:Whether they're the exact same or not is irrelevant, dying in the tutorial is practically nigh impossible.Aside from the fact that 'practically no danger' and 'actually no danger at all' are not the same, I think that a big problem with the new tutorial is that it's just not consistent with the rest of the game, whereas at least the old ones were. Every game mechanic in the old tutorials was the same as for the game proper. XP, inf, inspirations, death. The new one just doesn't feel like or play like the game that comes after it. I think that new players will come out of it and be underwhelmed by having to fight human crims, and probably frequently get faceplanted by them, when they've just apparently easily defeated a GIANT SPACE ALIEN!

The point of the tutorial remains the same, it teaches you the basics of the game. It could stand some tweaking nonetheless, I don't believe they cover why you don't die in the new tutorial, though you do see that Numina mentions the hospital was destroyed.
Easily defeated? I guess, not expecting something hard in a tutorial and especially since you typically have help, whether it's from other players, or the Vanguard. -
Quote:bolded emphasisI think the new tutorial is much better and its awesome.
More epic and more superhero feeling.
I find the new tutorial to be an improvement w/ the overall game moving forward.
Quote:You can complete the new tutorial using four single uses of Brawl to tag the only actually required defeats in it and then let the NPCs do all the work. You cannot go below 1HP in it, so there's no danger or challenge or need to avoid mobs at all. The encounter with the Giant Shivan is a cutscene that you can run around in if you like.
I was all 'wow, coool' the first time I ran it. But when I slowed down and had a look at its substance, I saw the man behind the curtain lol.

I'd only recommend doing it if you're a hardcore player.
Some have done it, and one posted a picture of her soloing Statesman in Recluse's Victory using the RV Heavy (before i13 buggered everything) -
Shame on me for expecting a realistic list.
-
caught up on everything, the show is shaping up nicely, oh and coining a new term...snarfblocking
-
Starless Tenma (Warshade) - 35-37
Vanessa DeValle (DS/Traps) - 30-33
Didn't play as much as I wanted considering I had Thursday and Friday off...but I chalk that up to being impatient and playing w/ new shinies in the Beta lol. -

Quote:The only things that's somewhat questionable is what I bolded...Congratulations guys, we've beat the game! We've done everything from making Blasters than can tank AV's, to making Tankers that can slaughter masses. Empaths are soloing AVs and Scrappers are getting healing badges. We've finally reached the point where anything can do everything.
The rest leaves me to ask, have you even been playing?
ANYONE can get the healing badges, saying otherwise is

Quote:Dominators - agree, but domination still makes them uniqueWelcome to CoH: City of Homogenization
The game where everyone is the same. It's been moving in that direction for the last couple years. Just look at the revamps and power changes made in that time and you'll see it plain as that zit on your nose.
Dominator Revamp - no more up and down ride that made them unique
Defender Revamp - more damage so they can solo instead of being team-oriented like they used to
Blaster Revamp - more HP, more damage and some mez protection so they don't need outside buffs anymore
Stalker Revamp - make them more 'scrappery' and less reliant on their unique stealth talents
Toss in the Invention System and Incarnate abilities and now no one has weaknesses, everyone has a nuke, and everyone has pets. Nobody needs anybody anymore!
Defenders - still team oriented, oh noes they can solo better now! and their damage buff disappears after...three teammates join the team?
Blaster - woo, I'm mez'd so I can still use my T1&2 Primary and T1 secondary! Still a glass cannon
Stalkers - needs teammates to be more "scrappery"
I know you can do better than 1 out of 4. -
All righty...
1) Pointy hats for Bosses/EBs/AVs only, give all minions the hood.
2) Death Mage should be wearing what the Madness Mage has
3) Tone down the patterns, outfits are way too busy
4) Overall colors could stand to be darkened
5) Change the color of the crystals in the belts...
