Back from the Dead - in more ways than one

I'm going to try to limit these to 2 to 3 per week so I don't get burnt out again.

Post any requests as to subject matter & I'll see what I can come up with.

    Enjoy

Something's going on in that Division: Line arc for 40-45. The Recapture C'Kelkah mission seems bugged. C'Kelkah tends to Leroy Jenkins and die a lot, but the mission doesn't end. It doesn't fail and you can't complete it since you can't lead him out. On a flashback, the only way I found to reset was to log out for 5 minutes and back in.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Yeah - I had this problem Thurs night & had to reset the mission as well.
  3. The new Wedding Gift mission is a bit of a let-down - I know others have mentioned this as well.

The mission itself is fine if basic...here are my thoughts on making it more interesting:

Badge: would be nice, but not necessary - maybe Wedding Invitation or Wedding Crasher

Temp Power: Nothing major, but since the mission involves gifts, perhaps something similar to the Christmas Present Mystery Gifts would be appropriate (with a valentine or wedding theme)

Temp Emote: You want people to purchase the overpriced Wedding Pack - maybe a sampling of the emotes will get more people to buy.

Mission Contact ending text: I was very unimpressed when I returned to the contact & basically all that was said was something like, "OK thanks."

    Well - just my thoughts.

New City of Heroes Wedding Pack

Just in time for Valentine’s Day, we are excited to introduce the City of Heroes Wedding Pack! Available for $9.99 on the PlayNC® Store, this pack includes two new formal wedding costumes and four celebratory character emotes, offering Heroes and Villains the tools to celebrate in style!

NOTE: The wedding veil on the current live version 16.200801222.5T2 is not displaying correctly. It should appear as mostly see through, like real lace. The current version is mostly filled in. This will be corrected in a coming update.

For those who purchase the Wedding Pack, the list of costume items includes:

    Tuxedo
2 Tuxedo Jackets with tails For Male, Female, Huge
2 Sleeve options for the tuxedo jacket.

    Wedding Dress for Female Models
    2 chest options
    1 Glove
    2 Boot options
    Bridal Skirts
1 Hair Style with bridal veil

    Extra Female Costume Items
"Excess Plus" for Chest and Hips
"Hearts Plus" for Chest and Hips
"Angelic Plus" for Chest and Hips

    [/ QUOTE ]

While I have nothing against the occasional "pay for" add-on pack, I do have a problem with the price (at least for this pack).

When comparing this new pack to the GvE pack the lack of any usable power is quite glaring. GvE had 2 very usable powers for the same price.

I know it's too late for the Wedding Pack, but you should keep this in mind for any future add-ons.

My value for the Wedding Pack is $4.99-$5.99 - sorry, no sale.

Mission Four: The Beast and the Sea
Mission Time to complete: varies, usually 20-30 min
    Requirements: Melee damage very helpful

This mission is HAMIDON! He is easy, quick, and not very challenging. Here is how 'WE' do him, and it works rather well.

Fly, Jump, TP, whatever, down in front of a pylon. Agro the Rikti on the first pylon, just choose one, it doesnt matter at this point. Once the Rikti are down around this pylon, DO NOT DESTORY THE PYLON AT ALL, leave it there. Do not take out the other Rikti at this point. They will leave you alone!

Gather around the empty pylon now, and get your Scrappers/Stalkers/Brutes/Tanks ready. Your target, Mitochondria Antibodies! Yellow Mitos! A good Spine/Regen Scrapper, or Energy/Energy Brute wtih Fly, can take these down in like 2-3 hits. If they die, TP them back to the Pylon for a rez, awaken, or whatever floats your boat at this point. Just go from one yellow to the next, ignoring hami and the other mitos.

Once yellows are down, it's time to move onto the Sapper Mitos, Blues! Mitochondria Electrolytes! These little buggers like to sap endurance, but once the Yellows are down, it's time for ranged attacks! Target the first blue and hit it with everything you all have, it will go down in seconds, and then move on to the next blue and so on, until they are all down.

What's left, oh ya! Mending Mitochondria, Greens! These are very easy, just repeat the steps for the blues and your home free.

Now once all Mitos are down, you need to shift attention back to the pylons and Rikti. Go ahead and clear them all, we usually move in a clockwise direction around but whatever floats ya'. Once the pylons are down, time for Hami himself. It will take about 2-3 min, throw everything you have, debuffs, tar patch, holds, anything. He will go down swiftly.

Hey - great guide for this TF - ran with it for the first time on Fri night & we finished in 2 hrs 24 mins. (We had a little bit of stealthing problems in the first mission & then Penny took her time dying).

Just one question that someone asked me for mission 4 - is there a reason we leave the pylons up & take on the mitos first?

Thanks for posting this guide - it works quite well.
  6. Very nice guide High Beam - very informative!

    Thanks for putting it together.
  7. Here is a screen of some bad back clipping - this is the first time I logged in this char since I-11 hit & the clipping never occur previously (or I never noticed it, but as bad as this clipping is, I think I would have)...

Is there really a need for the "+" at the beginning? I never use that and have a lot of working binds similar to what you guys are doing.

    Don't know...I'll check

Works perfectly & got rid of the "unknown command" chat feedback - Thanks!

    New Binds are:

    1 "powexectoggleoff super speed$$powexec_slot 1"
    2 "powexectoggleoff super speed$$powexec_slot 2"
    3 "powexectoggleoff super speed$$powexec_slot 3"
    4 "powexectoggleoff super speed$$powexec_slot 4"

Hey - I want to make sure that when I start attacking with a character, that Super Speed gets toggled off (because I keep forgetting & run out of end on a toggle heavy char), so I thought that this would work - haven't tested it yet since the servers are down:

    1 "+ $$powexectoggleoff superspeed$$powexec_slot 1"
    2 "+ $$powexectoggleoff superspeed$$powexec_slot 2"
    3 "+ $$powexectoggleoff superspeed$$powexec_slot 3"
    4 "+ $$powexectoggleoff superspeed$$powexec_slot 4"
    5 "+ $$powexectoggleoff superspeed$$powexec_slot 5"

binding the SS toggleoff to my attack chain - is the syntax correct - I do want to attack first & the toggleoff as the secondary effect.

    [/ QUOTE ]

OK - well it works (other than the fact that I forgot to put a space between super & speed - lol)

    Corrected format is:

    1 "+ $$powexectoggleoff super speed$$powexec_slot 1"
    2 "+ $$powexectoggleoff super speed$$powexec_slot 2"
    3 "+ $$powexectoggleoff super speed$$powexec_slot 3"
    4 "+ $$powexectoggleoff super speed$$powexec_slot 4"
    5 "+ $$powexectoggleoff super speed$$powexec_slot 5"

I do get the annoying "unknown command" in chat after SS is turned off...anyway around this?

With the latest patch, Microfilament Exposures are probably really useful for:
Fitness Pool -> Swift (Run and Fly enhanced)
Scrapper->Super Reflexes->Quickness (Run and Fly enhanced)

    [/ QUOTE ]

Fitness pool -> Swift - Uses no Endurance, so slotting Micros would not give any additional benefit.

Quickness - it's also an Inherent, correct? So again, no End cost, slotting Micro would be a waste.

I think he is saying (not sure if this is the way it would work though), you would get the benifit for both flight speed & run speed while using only one slot.

  22. From way back in the Useless Info archives (circa issue 5):

    Mr E-Man's semi-regular & mostly useless information post #13:

Since we are about to get nerfed again, I figured I would ask: What is a Nerf?

    Nerf (nûrf)

In the context of computer games, a nerf is a change to the rules of the game that is generally considered to have a weakening or negative effect upon the affected object(s). The term 'nerf', originating from the days of Ultima Online, relates to how Nerf toys for children use safe, soft foam and plastic to mimic sports balls and guns.

The games most frequently adjusted for balance are multiplayer online computer games, especially MMORPGs. MMORPG developers nerf aspects of the game in order to maintain game balance. Occasionally a new feature (such as an item, class, skill, etc.) may be made too powerful, too cheap, or too easily obtained to the extent that it unbalances the game system itself. This is sometimes due to an unforseen bug or method of using or acquiring the object that was not considered by the developers. The developers may have intended that a player perform steps A, B, and C to get the item, but players may accidentally discover that they can skip steps A and B and simply do step C to gain the reward.

More often though nerfs are implemented as an anti-power leveling tactic. This tactic is favored because it is easily implemented. However, although it has a negative effect on power leveling it generally harms legitimate players more than the PLers.
  23. Congrats to everyone involved!

    Great job!

Ok... here is my problem. I have a targeting bind that would target enemy near then target enemy next. When I hit TAB it targets the enemy near like its supposed to, but when I hit TAB again I get "Unknown command target_enemy_near $$ bind_load_file c:\cohkeys\TAB.txt"

Everything worked until i7 went live. Any ideas?

***BTW, same problem happening with my PB & WS bind to change forms.

In my toon bind .txt file I have this:

    TAB "target_enemy_near $$bind_load_file c:\cohkeys\TAB.txt

    TAB.txt
    TAB "target_enemy_next $$bind_load_file c:\cohkeys\TAB1.txt

    TAB1.txt
    TAB "target_enemy_near $$bind_load_file c:\cohkeys\TAB.txt

    [/ QUOTE ]

I noticed that I had to "reload" my main bind file on my initial log-in with Issue 7 - not sure what changed, but my binds seem to work OK after I they were reloaded.
