BTW, saw your Myspace pic. How're you liking the Touch? I'll give you my impressions after you give yours. I wouldn't want to sour them. XD

    [/ QUOTE ]

I hate trying to do reviews; I often miss vital points of interest.

First let me say, that this is my initial foray into the world of PDA phones & I have had the HTC Touch since November.

Overall I like the Touch. It has some problems & quirks and I certainly could have gone with something less expensive, but I liked the size compared to some of the other PDA phones from Sprint. It is barely larger (width only) than my old Samsung phone.

Battery Life: Less than spectacular (I get about 2-3 days on a full charge). I found that turning off blue tooth when I am not actually using it helped quite a bit and is easy enough to do with just a couple touches.

Bugs: Like with the update to Live Search is annoying. (There is a way to edit the button using a 3rd party program, but I haven’t done it yet.)

Freezing: The screen can freeze on occasion requiring battery removal to restart.

    Internet: Works fine for me.

    Sound: No problems

MP3: works well, but I would rather have the music button start media player (there is a way to change this as well using a 3rd party program). Also, if you wish to forgo using headphones, the built in speaker has pretty good sound quality.

Camera/Video: works well from what I have used of it so far – nothing spectacular picture wise (2.0 MP). The camera button placement can be better. Camera can be turned on during phone calls or just picking up the phone.

Speaker Phone: personally, I hate speaker phone conversations (from either end of the conversation), but I have used it a couple of times while waiting for someone to pick-up & it seem ok to me.

Voice Command/Voice Dialing: I was disappointed that Microsoft Voice Command wasn’t included – I am not crazy about the included voice dialing software & I will probably purchase MS Voice Command in the near future.

Touch Screen: Sometimes can be finicky, but works ok for me

Touch Keyboard/Keypad: I like these & I have no problems not having a physical keyboard. The xt9 functioning works quite well and the keys are easily usable even with my fat fingers.

Phone as Modem: Not sure if you use/need this, but this works quite well (with the purchase of PdaNet from Junesfabrics). I sometimes travel to locations (ok mostly my mother’s house) that have no broadband internet service (seriously, I can’t even steal bandwidth from anyone). Using the phone as modem on these occasions, I get pretty good/stable internet service – enough to play CoH/V without much of a problem.

    Anything I missed?

    Wall of words…I know

    Tamerlane: Part Four of Four

Hopefully I have all the editing done properly - no time to double-check this morning.
  3. Tamerlane gets briefly interrupted with an archive link to Mr E-Man's semi-regular & mostly useless information post #137 in honor of Cinco de Mayo.

Also, I have been extremely sick since Friday & still have some editing to do on the last two parts of Tamerlane...

    Happy Cinco de Mayo!

Hm. Put Tamerlane next on your list. I wrote a little treatise on him a few years ago and astounded some peeps on how deep his history was, and how much it's glossed over in modern histories.

Glad you liked it Hell - the Penthouse films version (as shown in the video clips) has always been one of my favorites.

So Hell, when we were running the RSF last week, Jamie (Dark Ambriel) remembered asking you the burning question (a long time ago):

"Why is your name Hell Jumper when you fly?"

    [/ QUOTE ]

Well E, that is a long story that I will try to shorten up. I got into this game because of my son, he saw it on G4 (when according to him it was a good show) and he knew I would like it.

At around the same time there was a Comic Convention in town ( Philly) and we talked to States himself who was pushing the game there. They had a version of the game there to try so we did and he was right I really liked it.

Anyway we purchased the game and after he set up his toon it was my turn and while playing about with the maker I had to come up with a name. Well I am (or was) a serious player of Halo and in fact was reading the novels at the same time. As those who know… know Master Chief was part of the military called the Hell Jumpers because well they would Jump into the Hell of battle much like today we house helicopters.

So the old light bulb came one and the name Hell Jumper came to mine. Ok so that’s the name portion, then went I was building my toon I was such a noob I made all kinds of mistake ( you know picking an archetype that nobody back then wanted ( Stoner),4 slotting brawl, putting one of each enhancement in each power, NOT taking stamina ( did take the toon to 50 with out it ) and making a costume out of electricity when my build was kind of a fire mode ) but I always felt that a hero should fly… you know Superman. and so right now all but 2 of my toons have fly. My Fire/fire Tank has SJ and I just respected my Ice/Kin Corr to SS from fly an now I run into everything not moving and sometimes even those

So anyway that’s the short version... the thing is my son MY OWN SON laughs at me to this day... when I am playing and he comes home ( he will graduate from Full Sail University with a degree in Game design in June. . Im thinking if he works for NCSoft he I will one day find my builds with all purples and 2 billion in cash... but that’s for another day) he will shout out “Hey dad how’s that flying Jumper doing” must be poor parenting.

Anyway I missed Jamie asking me the question or I would have said you’re not the first… and he won’t be the last…

That, my friend is the short version…lol

    [/ QUOTE ]

Heh - well then, I was mistaken...I had thought (and told her) that you were originally a jumper, but you respec'd into fly when we first did the Ruladek the Strong TF (way back when) and decided to keep it that way.
