What gives with not being able to slot the Achilles Heel proc in this badboy? It's obvious that the devs chose to put it in a -def set, because nearly all the sets that do -def are Smashing or Lethal (Claws, Kat, BS, Stone, DB, Archery, AR, etc...). This seems like it was a game balance choice. So why can't Martial Artists slot this sucker? The only other S/L Melee sets which can't slot it (BA, WM, and SS) all have alternatives (Glad. -res for Axe and Mace, Rage is plenty of damage for SS). Martial Arts is THE only smashing/lethal melee set which can't slot EITHER -res proc (except in its PBAoE) besides SS, and I can't really see why. If this is an oversight, let's petition to have it fixed. If it's a conscious choice, I'd appreciate an explanation. And if it's a Nemesis plot, well, I hate that guy.

Would I be better off throwing in damage procs or the -res proc? Also, is the purple proc better off in here or in a chain attack?

In this case, the 2 -res procs and the 2 build up procs. My claws toon can run a chain with
3 Purple procs
1 regular dmg proc
2 BU procs
2 -res procs
this alone just seems cool (buzzsaw-y), but I'm curious what effects these procs have on dps and whether or not it's easily calculable. Somebody dazzle me with math magic please! -
I remember when Physical Perfection first came out, slotting end enhancers boosted these procs as well. Is this still the case?
If not, how do you all recommending Health/PP with the 2 procs? -

My current main is a claws toon who is certainly not a wolvie clone, and my second is a DB who is certainly not a deadpool clone. All I meant was that I believe the claws set was what started the lawsuit against this company way back in the day, due to its similarity to a very well known character, and frankly, I can name a lot more people who fight with swords than with claws, and it feels less copyright infringe-y.
Still love both sets though. -
I don't want to start any sort of battle or anything, but I was just curious about all y'all's opinions on which of these two sets wins head to head (In terms of math or in terms of flava)
I chose these two sets because they are mechanically very similar.
For example
Claws:
Cheaper on the blue bar
Great animations
Nice mitigation
Better AoE
DB:
Better single target dmg (I think)
Combos are fun AND useful
More weapon customization
Not a wolvie rip-off
I have more for each, but I'd really love to see some numerical comparisons too -
Looks like one of us is doing our math wrong, then.
Using Mids
Incincerate: 342.51 dmg over 1.848 sec = 185.34 DPA
Storm Kick: 205.5 dmg over 1.056 sec = 194.60 DPA
Factoring in crits, SK pulls even farther ahead. This was with each power holding 3 DMG IOs.
What am I missing? -
Just for fun I was comparing the DPA of attacks in all the scrapper sets. Is my math wrong, or is Storm Kick actually the best DPA out there?

2. Once you factor in the added chance for crit, it's probably your 2nd or 3rd best attack, regardless of the -res proc. And its DPA is only barely below Slash BEFORE factoring in crit chances.

Is EM really that bad? I remember it putting out some solid numbers on BillZ's "the results are in" threads and it seems capable of solid enough DPS. Is this hate mostly directed at AoE or what?

I'll make it quick. Will Follow up be double stacked for Eviscerate in the chain
FU>Focus>Slash>Eviscerate
1.32+1.584+2.508+1.056+1.32+1.584=9.372
This means that double stacked follow-up should still be going for.628 more seconds. Is this enough time for the buff to apply to eviscerate?
If not, DPS wise it makes more sense to go
FU>Focus>Eviscerate>Slash
So I'm hoping it does, but any insights would be hot.

I know, I know, EM isn't a scrapper set (yet), but I feel like all the best number crunchers hang out here. Conceptually and visually, both work for my character, and they actually seem like really similar sets.
Both do a mix of smashing and energy damage
Both stun
Concentrated Strike is pretty much a clone of Total Focus.
So how do I choose between the two? How do they fare in terms of top performance DPS? Who does better at AoE? -

Thanks for the reply, Werner. I figured they were close enough that it wouldn't really matter much. While I've got you though, would it be possible to run a chain using slash AND eviscerate for double -res goodness? Would it be worth it DPS wise?

Also, is the gaussian's chance for build up worth slotting in FU, or is the bonus insignificant?

I know the most frequently seen claws chain is FU>Focus>Slash.
I also have heard of FU>Eviscerate>Focus.
In terms of raw damage, the first chain is superior, but it has higher recharge requirements.
Both chains can hold a -res proc. The second chain can hold 3 purple procs instead of 2.
Seeing as with the second chain I can use the musculature alpha rather than the spiritual, any number crunchers able to do a real comparison? (Factoring in double stacked FU, -res, procs, etc.)
Also, does an attack just have to be initiated while FU is up for it to apply a bonus, or does it have to still be up when the attack is completed?

Hi all! Thought I'd run a quick question by the many minds on this board. If I'm going to make a Fire/WP, what are the pros and cons of Brute vs. Scrapper? (No offense, but right now I'm not looking to make a Tanker
)
I was thinking Brute:
-Higher HP
-DoT gets boosted by Fury
-Gloom
-Superior Conditioning > Conserve Power (at least for my purposes)
-Incinerate at level 8
But I'm sure Scrappers have some advantages too:
-No Fury, no problem!
-Fire Sword Circle at level 18
One of my main Brute pros is that the optimal dps chain for Scrappers is
Incinerate > Cremate > GFS
which requires quite a bit of recharge in GFS (more than 200%)
while Brutes can run
Incinerate > Gloom > Cremate > GFS
for HIGHER dps with only about 50% global recharge, OR
Incinerate > Gloom > GFS
for EVEN HIGHER dps but crazy recharge.
I know there must be reasons to make this toon a scrapper instead, but I need some supporting details. Anyone have more Pros and Cons for either choice? -
So here's the deal: I have 2 potential character concepts, and I'd like to build both of them, but one is Invuln and one is Willpower. For concept, either character could use Katana OR Dual Blades, but I only want one of each. So if the invuln uses DB, the Will has to use Kat. Is there anything in particular which should influence me one way or the other in terms of power, or should I just flip a coin?

I don't remember the exact numbers, but I know that they kick in at about 60% HP and they stack. When you're at almost 0 HP, each one gets pretty close to 20%, so with all 3 you're at close to 60% res. Throw in Tough, and you'll be darn close to the Scrapper Resist Cap for S/L damage. Of course, you'll be so close to dead that it probably won't matter, but it's still neat

No offense intended, but I've been reading the scrapper forums since about 2005, even though I didn't register my forum account until 2007. This forum has a reputation for being the one most knowledgeable and open to helping players, regardless of Archetype, especially when it's an AT which is very similar (like a brute, stalker, or tank).
I've posted queries on all 4 of those forums, and the ones here get by far the most useful and numerous responses, and I'm sorry if it bothers you, but I'm not gonna stop coming here for help. -
I realize that, but I figure I'll also have perma-dom and be able to lock things down pretty well, and also I'm gonna be end-draining things. With the -recovery from Drain, along with power sink I feel like if I could make it about 30 seconds, I'd be unkillable.

I was making a plant/psy Dom, and I noticed that between Spirit Tree (which maybe can be stacked) and Drain Psyche, a high recharge Dom can get nearly 2500% regeneration. Is this as godly as it sounds?

With much difficulty, I managed to pull off softcapping all types, INCLUDING negative AND psionic. The attack chain is Gloom>Incinerate>Scorch>Cremate>Scorch
