I would advise you to disable the temp-powers ability when setting up the Arena Duels.
Regarding Zone battles... If I were you I would use tactics to your advantage - Surprise them!, make it look as if you are going for the kill to panic them to trigger their phase shift... then track them silently until the phase-shift timer expires, then really go in for the kill... unless they have taken another form of phase-shift available they will be waiting for the power to recharge and be vunerable.
Ps: I wouldn't bother with that tactic for me (being my advice) Mumsy has an emergency contingency backup plan for that ole chestnut. -

Im all for using everything in the game allows you to have in order to fight, and the old method of flaming anyone who did was always a little harsh imo. However there comes a point where it just gets boring. What i mean is powers like Telekenesis, Phase shift, hibernate and so on. Its not like im going to accuse anyone of cheating for using these powers, as i said im all for using the game mechanics to your advantage, but i have to say its flippin boring fighting someone who phase shifts every time they get in trouble or uses telekenesis. After all theres no point pvping if you cant actually kill your opponent. Ok you could argue that they cant phase shift if they are stunned or held, but then thats what breakfrees are for isnt it?
[/ QUOTE ]
I agree with you and am glad that you also share the opinion that no-one should begrudge anyone from using Insps or any tactic (bar TP droning outside of team battles in my opinion).
I use Telekinesis in Pvp, I find it invaluable along with phase-shifting. I do not consider it cheating because of the following:
I appreciate its frustrating, but speaking as an Empath who dares to stick her neck into PvP zones - I have less than a handful of offensive powers, 75% of my powers are for the benefit of other heroes... If I 'test the water' and find you either a) too hard to put down or b) too powerful to go toe to toe against then i will keep you at bay or become a ghost and make sure you cannot find me.
If you do catch me off guard you cannot blame someone who has less than a handful of offensive powers to go 'toe to toe' with someone who has two full rows full of offensive powers at their disposal and live. Of course they are going to (as you appreciate) use every trick in the book to stay alive.
Some ATs are far weaker than others, thats just the way they were designed - for complementing each other in PvE.
I thoroughly respect the squishies that dare enter PvP zones and do not begrudge them any tactic.
I appreciate it must be frustrating if you want to hand somebody their backside in PvP and they keep on eluding you, but as they say... "Alls fair in Love and War"
[Additional]: Telekinesis is one of the highest end-drains in the game - Its a nightmare believe me!. Nerfing it further for PvP or indeed the concept of consistently judging and nerfing powers purely for PvP benefit ignoring PvE would be catastrophic for balanced gameplay in my opinion. -
Oh well,... nevermind.
I guess I'll wait till there is a massive organised effort or maybe some officially endorsed PvP zone battles that could potentially stir up some interest.
Till then I think I'll bound back into the loving embrace of my beloved Union. I know I can find regular PvP action there at least. -

Uh, was the date mentioned beforehand?

Yes, the post has been up since the 17th of last month.

I cant speak for others but you cant catch me ingame since I dont really play the game anymore..
[/ QUOTE ]
Well if you don't play the game anymore then my guess is you will not have any influence on a rematch in the future. -
Oh dear me, that was rather disappointing!
I advertised the event all day, even popping over to Defiant to advertise as well.
Seven people on in Atlas Park on Defiant, No replies to a challenge gone out over global channels, well... i say no replies - There was one which was "How about Bite me!" which was lovely from Defiant <laughs>.
Very surprised at the lack of interest in this one.
To his credit Jackal Ripper was the only villain who turned up.
I guess the event was poor because players:
a)couldn't make it due to RL committments - b) couldn't be bothered or c) Nobody had the melons to defend Defiants honor... I'm sure it can't be 'C' so lets see a rematch sometime!.
Unfortunately Jackal Ripper got a kill in before i arrived (but understandably) on entry he felt outnumbered and backed down.
I salute you Sir for making the effort.

[Edit]: I've just heard Jackal Ripper is a Unionite too - sorry Defiant, you lose. -
I second Coin's feelings.....
This is awful, I am having real problems deciding:
an emerging fresh graphic talent Vs. enthralling writing ability
If this were a race I would be studing the video/photo-finish and stats on who broke the finishing line laser-beam first....
I'm going to go with the Literary choice this time around, Its a great piece of writing.
I am almost certain Psygon is going to get my vote in the future for what I hope is a continuing endeavour.
FFM's 'Zero Hour' for my nomination for January 2008. -
What a great Forum title!

Congratulations TomCat!
Max, Pious... welldone guys!.

Awww Coston,
Sorry the magic has faded a little for you to feel like leaving, Coston was down to be kittenized as well, a very recognisable toon that was most definately part of the Union old guard.
Please do keep an eye out on the websites for Issue updates, maybe something... some feature upcoming from NorCal will tempt you back out of retirement.
Byebye for now dear.

Its beautiful Coin,
Be sure to get that mounted, framed and up on a wall possibly with bespoke lighting.
I love Gill's work he is a very talented Illustrator and I like the way the studio is expanding to accomodate other Illustration styles: (note: Knightstalker's pic).
Many Congratulations!
Its a commission to be proud of! -
If you are not going to take any of the leadership pool powers or one of a high drain use such as Telekinesis then... yes, it is possible through careful slotting and IO sets to claw back some endurance.
I'm not sure how useful you'd be under pressure in a PvP situation or an AV/GM fight... but its possible.
If you are taking any of the leadership toggle powers...
I wouldn't recommend it.
I suppose what you are aiming for being useful at? - PvE? - PvP? - a hybrid of both?.
Personally I find Stamina Invaluable even though I do not have the leadership pool and even though through the latest sets I have respec'd down the number of slots - It still makes a marked difference in my opinion. -
... And I'll volunteer to be there to defend them.

Hey!, stop peeking at my local!

Yes thankyou my dear, smashing little fight this evening!, thankyou so much. -
Well I usually restrict myself to 'softcore musical chairs' on a weekend, but it sounds fun - I may pop along to see how this turns out.

(On a side note, you reckon I'd poke many people in the eye with them aerial things on the side?)
[/ QUOTE ]
I recommend you salvage/get hold of 4 telescopic aerials the like you get on small hand held radios. For the deluxe version you should combine that with an intercom on the inside along with lights and a heads-up display. Maybe you can get 'power-aerials' (from somewhere like Halfords) to extend and retract on voice activation.
Any problems with tech, use this site, its great for ideas and I'm using it to construct my flying battle mech-suit for my grand entrance at the next playermeet.
I'm having a little trouble with the Jetboots at the moment, I can't seem to get beyond 20ft altitude and 40mph... I think i just need to lose a bit of weight and buy a new gyroscopic oscillator.

Just be honest dear, pretending you are into Motorbikes will just get you deeper in trouble. Just say you need one for your crimefighting duties as you are A Superhero!.
<don't forget to put your hands on your hips, puff out your chest and raise your jawline slightly, moving your head to the left and gazing to the horizon with a bold expression as you say it>
... If that fails to impress said leatherbound biker, tell him he looks like a Dual pistols/Thugs MM - explain that there is both biker jacket and Biker boots on the costume options, explain the animation entrance of 'the enforcer/bodyguard' and at the very least we will get a new subscription out of it.
See!, who said Mumsy doesn't give out good advice. -
It will be an odd situation.
You can supply CM every 3 secs or so, I was showering the CM's onto the tank for the Ghostwidow showdown and it was still a pretty close-call.
Even with a suitcase full of 20 'Escapes' costing 80-100,000 inf a pop that fight would have to be over pretty darn quick and we all know that doesn't happen often with Ghostwidow, she is still going to hold the tank and kill him and the MoSTF will fail due to (what i suspect) is a misplaced nerf initiated by PvP concerns. -
[ QUOTE ]
hmm.. is this PvP only or PvE as well? And do you got the source where this info comes from?
If it is PvE as well I can imagine Ghost Widow becoming a whole lot harder in STF :O
[/ QUOTE ]
Its on the latest release notes to the test server.
... and yes, its both PvP and PvE.
(good luck with Ghostwidow, thats all I can say).
I imagine if it does prove 'a nerf beyond' and ammendments are not made that MoSTF will become another revised Hamidon after many repeated failed attempts. -

Good for you Geoffrey!,
I'd be in awe of a great cosplay outfit (worn or just displayed) of their toon at a convention/playermeet.
Good luck with building your character's helmet Geoffrey!, maybe let us know how you're getting on with the production and everything on this thread, it would be an Interesting read.
Gopher it!, who cares what anyone else thinks, you know you'll look good! -

If Xanthus has a defender that he would like to challenge me with in the Arena I will be more than willing to accept that challenge
[/ QUOTE ]
Ok sure, I've got a defender. He's on Defiant though, along with the majority of my characters. Can you use the test server? I'm free pretty much most nights except thursdays and saturdays, assuming that I can use my housemates PC as mine is currently broken.
When I said "you", I wasn't directing the comment at you specifically; more at the people who are prone to whine after they get killed in a PvP zone in a way that they think is "unfair". I suppose I could have phrased myself a little better.
[/ QUOTE ]
Sure, Hopefully we can arrange a PvP defender fight on the test-server then, I'd prefer weekends if possible so perhaps a Sunday.
...and no problem about the wording of the statement.
Apologies if you felt i took it too literally.
One weekend then!

Yes, absolutely.
Feel free to contact me in RV and we will play a little hide 'n' seek - Believe me, If I know you're after me in RV and don't want you to find me - you won't.
[/ QUOTE ]
If a PvPer can't find you, then your not there. Your not going to win and the other heroes won't be buffed and healed.
If you want hero vs hero level 50 go to the arena. See who wins then.
[/ QUOTE ]
I never boasted in the first place about killing Xanthus, I was stating that If I knew he was after me I would make sure all my defences were active and be very aware of my surroundings, his position and my position at all times.
[ QUOTE ]
If a PvPer can't find you, then your not there.
[/ QUOTE ]
I think stalkers may disagree with you there.
[ QUOTE ]
Your not going to win...
[/ QUOTE ]
I would not have any intention of even trying to win anyway, I have 4 offensive powers and would not be able to compete with anybodys PvP build, a large percentage of my powers are for the benefit of other players.
What I'm saying is although I wouldn't win.... neither would an opponent - on 1v1, because I'd make damn sure you would not be able to find/catch me if i were purposely avoiding you.
[ QUOTE ]
and the other heroes won't be buffed and healed
[/ QUOTE ]
Not relevant - I was talking about a one on one situation that simulated the targetted bullying that I am against outside of team PvP.
[ QUOTE ]
If you want hero vs hero level 50 go to the arena. See who wins then.
[/ QUOTE ]
If Xanthus has a defender that he would like to challenge me with in the Arena I will be more than willing to accept that challenge, but to call someone out to the arena and say "I bet my Spines Scrapper or Brute can beat your Empath in the arena!"...well, thats a pretty predictable forecast wouldn't you say.
Which leads me back to TsumijuZero's comment:
[ QUOTE ]
to put in my two cents I dont see how people can brag at one on one PvP when the system is designed to be balanced for teamplay and PvP respeccing out my main would gimp its PvE effectiveness.
