Thankyou all, glad you enjoyed the event.
Congratulations to:
Rogue Isles Race Champion - Lost for words (Aka: Lost Samurai).
Rogue Isles Race Silver Medalist: Hot Sound (aka: Lady Arete).
Rogue Isles Race Bronze Medalist: Sal's Racer (aka: Salacious).
Commiserations to Deaf Racer who missed out by just one badge!,... and the few Villains cunning enough to make it in one piece to the finishing line. Amongst the few: Capt.Davey Bones, The Runningman, Evil Nick Knowles (who almost got all the badges but was cursing the 'Mistress of the Airwaves' badge and told me he'd be back for it once he got 'fly').
Welldone everyone, 'close!, but no cigar.' as they say, - It wasn't easy but to the winners go the spoils of victory.
1st place and Winner of the Rogue Isles Race Costume competition: Murdo McTaggart (who couldn't believe he'd won - bless him). Congratulations!, you are the prizewinner of the rather unique Actual strand of GhostWidow hair!, I've been working on the packaging for the last couple of nights now.... and "Daaamn!!!, even I'm jealous!" (I did think about keeping it (as I was red-side at the time), but in the end my dominant inner-Mumsie won out.
Hope you enjoy it Murdo, and the rest of the prizefund I'll be mailing to you first thing Monday.
Rogue Isles Race Costume contest Second place: Bad Hat! wonderfully diabolical, this is truely what happens when you watch too much cartoons. Screenshot incoming (if it hasnt been posted already).
A very generous 15 million Inf generously donated by Proximity (because to be honest I'd run out of prizes)
(Thankyou Prox, I'll be putting a little something in the post to you to say thankyou. Sorry for inadvertantly putting you on the spot like that).
Rogue Isles Race Costume Contest Third place: Ariarathes A chilling Vampiric effort worthy of the 10 million Inf again donated by Proximity
Congratulations all! - enjoy the spoils of victory which shall be winging their way to you early next week!
I would like to thank all of the volunteers who helped marshall the event, Including but not limited to:

and Greg.
In my usual forgetfulness I neglected to confirm all toon-name Global addresses >.< - sorry, It will ring a bell (or not if you are being sneaky) when you do please contact me and remind me to confirm your Marshall toon name that helped on the night and global address. As there will be PPD code cookies from me courtesy of GhostRaptor's generosity.
Thanks, ... now please excuse me as I am off to suffer a nervous breakdown, nightynight for now. -
No restrictions on the cossie contest other than it must be horror themed.
(notices time)
"Gawd!, I'd better get going... been in the back garden putting the finishing touches to the prizes together!"
See you at the starting line! -

Most new macs are windows compatible nowadays.
My friend played a CoX trial on her new mac thing. She just installed XP and ran it.
[/ QUOTE ]
Very true, although I'm not sure how well it would run through a Windows emulation, There are things like map plug-ins that obviously would not be accessible to the Mac community.
The Mac-only exclusive of a 'straight to mission teleport' is an odd choice in my opinion, Mac users any less capable of finding the mission entrance manually? - no!, ahh well... at least we know what the 57 Month Veteran award is going to be for the rest of us. -
You can still pity them, standard Mac mouses only have one button.

I preferred the old layout, mainly because now everything is so big I would say it looks like (if I were a cynic) it has been designed for navigation [u]For[u] either a): young children or b): The sight-impaired....

[Edited for how I meant it] -
[ QUOTE ]
i'll try making it with a little runner... provided i get there in time. ;D

Just for clarification the start is at 9pm, but people will be gathering and listening to the address, the rules, and milling about socialising from 8pm. If you can prepare a toon up to level 4 (and your cunning choice of build) tonight and log out at the starting line ready for tomorrow night then thats fine.
[EDIT]: Congratulations on the 2nd Aniversary of your blissful Incarceration His_Hairiness. Hope the cooking goes as planned

You could buy more slots! [insert convincing sales pitch here] - you may need them come Issue 13 anyhow? - and theres a nice prizefund!, ... and if that doesnt convince you - there will be sweeties Arctic Man!
...and yes MDC, if you look at the last couple of posts you will see the exploration badges required to be gained en route, as well as a walkthrough guide on where to find them. -
Heheh - couldn't of put it better myself...
This does of course mean that we may have an influx of those awful goatee-wearing, black polo-necked, minimilist chrome-toaster-lovin design Nazis. On the upside we could get some coverage in Design week or Creative Review if marketing deem it worthy.
No such thing as a bad subscriber I suppose, but I'll reserve the names San Serif and Bauhaus to annoy as many of them as I can. -
Is tomorrow night!
- Got your strategy worked out yet?, think your cunning masterplan will wipe the floor with all others?
PsIf anyone can think of any exploits we may of missed - nows the time!).
-

That said its very big and colourful and certainly looks far more media friendly in its layout re: lots of imbedded videos and galleries.
...talking of galleries the expanded view of the 'City of Kittenz' introduction under fan zone>fan art is a broken link and doesnt work for me. /em,shakefist.
Not too bad overall I'd say, If it is able to do things the old site couldn't then it is of course an improvement and very welcome. -
No the race is not mandatory for the costume contest afterwards, invented costume pieces are allowed, and any level is allowed and eligible for entry (if you think the design is horror/halloween specific enough) - a great concept, name + biography can only help.
-
Lets just say, (for Imagination's sake), there was a range of merchandise available that mixed your player-suggested mottos, City of Kittenz Imagery and parodies of the Issue updates in a homage to all things City of Heroes/Villains.
What charity would you (as a potential customer) be happy for the funds to be donated to?:
Draw the World Together
Cancer Research UK
Great Ormond Street Hospital
...All worthy causes I know, just thought I'd get the community's opinion as to what you'd prefer. -
Reporting for Duty Sweetheart
...Sounds good, my services as Empath at your disposal. -
Happy Birthday Sapphic Neko!
- have a great time!
-
(Just to clarify as I have had enquiries):
The race course is a set course, in the order of the badges mentioned - the route you take (per exact street) is not set - that is up to your judgement as are the decisions to try a shortcut to the next badge on the list. (For example if you think that it is easier to scramble across the rooftops to avoid a Goldbrickers mob then thats fine), Just remember the rules with regard to that,
no flightpacks anywhere and no sea journeys in Cap Au Diable.
The route I have demonstrated in the slideshow is the most direct route on-foot.
If everyone runs these badges in order then the marshalls and any live wacky races style radio commentators will be able to do their job better - and it will also be a more enjoyable, funnier and more visually impressive spectacle overall if we are all running together.
Expect a brush with death on this race (the name 'deathrace' kinda hints at this), I ran it competitively last night, and died twice - you can run something fifty times and think you have your gameplan down and everything, but as Carmine Falcone said in Batman Begins: "Sometimes... sometimes things just go bad".

I'd much rather he be working on designs for future game improvements. If I want comics, I'll go to my comic shop and buy them.

Well when I saw "NCsoft hires Concept artist" I immediately thought zone re-visions/re-designs - possibly costume options. But whereas not every Illustrator is also a designer, and not every designer is also an Illustrator - I believe the good ones have a little of both in them even if they are not prominant.
David appears (by the look of his website gallery) to be mainly a character artist (a darn good one I might add) whereas dyed-in-the-wool concept designers like Ryan Church are famed for enviromental scenes that set a design and mood for an in-house design team to follow on a project.
Other examples like Dermot Power are famed for their creature and costume concepts and Doug Chiang who is well known for his technically precise sci-fi machine drawings.
With regard to David being hired I would guesstimate NCsoft to profit from his speciality with regards to City of Heroes/Villains.... Its got to be (the former) a revival of the comics/graphic novels - or (the latter) perhaps new creature/Hero/villain designs if he can turn his hand to that, or possibly artwork for official City of Heroes merchandise if thats ever to truely take off.
I'd put money on the former personally. -
Well, without wanting to derail the original post - the ball has been well and truely missed with the veteran pets.
They do nothing, whereas they should be nameable (just like pets should of been blue-side by now).
The veteran pets should also have a function, perhaps a small buff/debuff ( and more than 1 hit-point please:48-month reward I'm looking at you) or perhaps a small depository for salvage, Insps or recipes. -

Whoo-hoo! That little piccie that's on the official site looks great ML! Did you do it, or is GhostRaptor a super-duper graphics designer in his spare time?

Guilty as charged I'm afraid Ethan. -

I tried running an evil "Black Cab" service on Defiant Villains for a while (for payment, obviously).
Oddly, no-one trusted me. Besides, I didn't go saaaaarf of the clock tower.
[/ QUOTE ]
Never has there been a clearer case for player-vehicles, I'd pay good Inf just to sit on a wall nearby and watch DreamWeaver plying for trade in a blackcab from hell. -
Ahh nice!, I hadn't seen any Taxibots on Defiant and had no idea the brand was global!
[EDIT]: hold on a minute.... Yes, It is the EU.Taxibots (presumably Union) he is talking about because the writer (obviously based over here in the UK) is father to SuperNoob - That is our EU.Ghostwidow at our memorabilia. -
The U.S have Taxibots?
, I thought they were a Union original! <laughs>, ahh well - shows how much I know.
-
A nice article over at Massively: Meet the Team: Adrian Bott.
The Taxibots are now officially recognised Union-Lore!- great news! - Go Taxibots! (em,pom-poms)
