  1. I generally assume that if a bug persists for too long, it's really hard to squash for some reason. That being said, I wish they'd prioritize this bug. It may not be a showstopper, but it defeats the whole purpose of a social game if your communication tools are broken, y'know? I want those retro goggles really bad, but seriously, delay Super Booster 3 by a week if it means this chat bug goes away.
  2. I'd be a little less upset at Hardcase if you actually did get to go back in a later mission and clean his clock. I mean, I could accept the idea he's the bigger dog at level 35, so you have to just smile and ask for seconds. That's pretty much the story of City of Villains; you're everyone's peon up until you finally prove yourself equal to the baddest guy on the island, and from then on you call the shots yourself.

    As obnoxious and condescending as Hardcase can be, it would still be nice to get some petty closure from him. Beating him up in a mission is what everyone wants, but even just verbally cowing him would suffice.
  3. I thought the Titans always used the hold? I definitely remember getting pegged by it a few times in the past on my blaster. If there was a bug in the AI, it was that I could substantially reduce the amount of damage they put out by simply standing in melee and tricking them into using only their (relatively) weaker melee smash.

    I don't mind beefier Titans, though, since previously the only thing that they did was soak up a lot of damage in an annoying way.

    I'm pretty sure double XP *won't* apply to AE arcs. Patrol XP (which is 1.5x XP) already doesn't. I'm sure it'll be the same with double XP, and for the same reasons.

    [/ QUOTE ]
    What he said. If this is the case, they probably need to mention it in the double XP announcements, though.
  5. There's some inter-AT balance issues, where certain sets are noticeably better than others, but every single primary and secondary will let you get your SMASH on just fine. Even the worst primary and secondary choices will leave you a competent brute. I would suggest not worrying about it at all.
  6. The old method was to make a second enemy faction that contains only the boss, and have him appear separate from the other custom faction.
  7. Amalgamate :: Metacinnabarite
    I could not believe metacinnabarite is a real thing. It's black mercury sulfide, which not only makes it eviler than normal cinnabar, it even sounds like something a supervillain would call himself.

    Antipolar :: Taijitu
    Amalgamate's evil twin, who of course would be good in Praetorian world.

    Cosmic Scion :: Negastar
    Best I could come up with.

    Tilde :: Divisor
    One of the most aggressive punctuation marks I could find.
  8. While there are a few annoying enemies to deal with, by and large even the toughest bosses can be brought low by eating your tray. 3 or 4 purples is pretty much total invulnerability. I sometimes get the feeling that emptying the inspiration tray isn't considered an option for some people, or else Ghost Widow and the like wouldn't be such a problem.
  9. MM pets are usable as bosses, but I've never been able to use them in any other capacity.
  10. BaB alluded to working on a change where normal emotes could override the combat stance without it being a game breaker. This is apparently harder to do than he was hoping for, since it's not in yet.
  11. Any one want to take bets on how many posts we have after this from people who didn't read the thread and took the OP completely seriously?

    You realize this won't go over well, right?

    That depends entirely on why Castle and crew and everyone else are so all-consumingly busy at the moment.

    Dead emotes

    My line of thinking keeps coming back to the premise that power customization is 2 issues worth of work... which is about how much work I'd expect to go into a box expansion. It would make even more sense to do it now, what with this other shiny new superhero game coming out boasting power customization from day one.

    That said, I'm not going to believe it's actually coming until I see a full blown announcement with NCSoft's logo all over it.

    ISSUE 15: We know there are some things that are exploitable, but we're realeasing it anyway and will punish you if you use said exploits.

    [/ QUOTE ]
    Um, yes, isn't that generally how it works? If you're told not to do something and you do it anyway, you get punished for it. Surprisingly enough, you're not actually entitled to just do whatever you want.
  15. The chat bug affects the password field too. It's possible you got a bunch of wwasdad111233222 in front of the password the first time you typed it.
  16. I don't think you're imagining anything. I had a story arc on live that was just a hair under 100%. It dropped considerably in size after I ported it to the test server, and even after fussing around with the custom enemies involved, it's down to about 92%.

    The only thing that changed is all the unlockable items on test are currently unavailable, so all my custom enemies are missing their wings and capes. I don't think that alone accounts for the reduced size, though. The mission file on test is 117 KB, while the mission file for live is 110 KB, so the new file is actually bigger.

    Possibly they increased the allowable mission file size, but it's more likely they've found an improved means of compressing the file.
  17. You could always change the contacts' names. It doesn't yet seem possible to recolor them, though. You'd probably have to add them to a custom group first, but there's no tab to access characters of Person rank.

    It looks like there's also a new window where you can edit the contact's info and Ask About This Contact, but the option isn't available in the MA proper yet.

    Welcome to beta! Everything is always broken when you get in.
  18. It probably needs significant work in enemy and glowie spawn placements before it's available for player use.

    Also, putting that map in a story arc would make you a bad person, because it is ridiculously huge. Outdoor maps are bad enough.

    I've written an arc (#149765) with Crey as the main antagonists. I plan on making it a three Act story revolving around the Revenant Hero Project, as well as some other Crey projects I made up. I wanted to use Invisible Falcon and Shining Light, but I also want them to be as accurate as possible. Is there any way I can get the following questions answered?

    1) Is there a set costume for either of the two? Invisible Falcon never really appears, as far as I know, and Shining Light is only shown in a Paragon Protector outfit (again, as far as I know).

    2) How about powersets? No clue on Invisible Falcon, though Shining Light seems to be electricity based.

    3) Is there a list of other heroes believed kidnapped (or ones whose bodies were stolen) by Crey for use in the Revenant Hero Project? If so, where can I find information on them to answer questions 1 and 2 for each?

    [/ QUOTE ]
    1) Ghost Falcon is heavily implied to be an alternate-universe Invisible Falcon, who was evil and then mind-control-reformed by Good Crey. You could swipe his costume directly, or make a few alterations.

    2) Ghost Falcon's bio makes mention of him having a mental link to his teammates, so apparently he has psychic powers. If Invisible Falcon was also psychic, it might explain where a certain other someone got their inexplicable psionic powers.

    3) Beats me. There might not be a list. You can always take the powersets of the Paragon Protectors encountered in-game and make something up. The Fire and Darkness guys are surely the most recent additions, since they're higher level (farther along in the timeline) and seem more advanced than the others.
  20. What powers is Mynx supposed to have? Early sources suggested she had Regeneration, but when she appeared in City of Villains, she instead had Super Reflexes. I'm guessing the in-game version is probably the official version, but I wanted to ask, since you're offering.
  21. Oh hey, I remember playing this arc. My brothers just randomly stumbled upon it, and after describing it, I had to run it too. Really nicely done; my blaster had a little trouble with the last fight on account of the ambushes arriving all at once, but I pulled through after coming back and mopping up the leftovers.

    For some reason, it cracked me up to come around the corner and see all these guys running around going >:O
  22. Of course I have to go grocery shopping before I actually get home. Although maybe it's for the best, if it's going to be a while before we can get in.

    Also, Mars needs patch notes!

    That was me.

    How DARE they make content that doesn't specifically cater to you and you alone!
  24. Is your arc close to the 100k limit? There seems to be a lot of fiddliness with whether the MA considers you to be over the limit once the mission file has been turned into server-speak.
  25. The rating system is going to have to be looked at one way or another. The devs wouldn't have put the Hall of Fame in there if they didn't intend for people to never reach it, but as is the griefers make it an impossible achievement. How they can fix it is another question entirely since, at some level, you're going to have to find some way to convince people to quit gaming the system.
