If you're resting after every single mob maybe you should lower the difficulty (or team with a friend)

Quote:I'll give you a reference: the years that I have spent roleplaying and creating new stories and concepts. I don't need to spend an hour looking up some obscure and idiotic comic or book to justify an ability that I personally design.I just think it should be switched to negative energy.
P.S. That seems to fit the flavor a bit better. Unless you can provide some references to mental protection.
But hey. That's okay. If you want to keep pretending it's not possible for fantasy internet pretend power armor to create a fantasy internet pretend energy shield to protect yourself from fantasy internet pretend psychic attacks, then fine, but don't expect anyone to take you seriously.
EDIT: Here's your reference.
"All you have to do is block the signal. Psychic abilities --- at least according to the Air Force's Project Stargate ---are the brain stretching outside of the body to manipulate localized EM fields and electrical energy. Most thought is electrical in nature, after all." -
Quote:1. I don't think people running at 90mph and jumping to ridiculous heights, throwing sharks at each other and using a technicolour assortment of superpowers, is supported in the media either - but people PVP all the time.1. This isn't very supported in the media much
2. This makes it too powerful
2. >implying mez protection makes a defense set too powerful -
Quote:Ninja Blade gets AS and Placate, as well as a different "default" weapon model (back before I11's weapon customization) and a different draw animation (over the back rather than from the hip). If you don't consider Grenades to be valid as a separate powerset, you shouldn't consider NB to be valid as a separate powerset either.Ummm...you know that the main difference between the two is the name of the set, right? And the fact that Ninja blade gets Assassin strike because it's a Stalker set?
Trick Arrow has exactly two ST powers out of 9, one of which is marginally useful. The very nature of grenade weapons dictates that they be at least parially AoE based. The balance here comes from long recharge times and high endurance costs, rather than having ST abilities. -
Quote:My explanation as to why my assault rifle can fire standard bullets and shotgun shells is as follows: It's a multi-purpose weapon, designed with different barrels and launchers to accomodate all its different firing modes. Ever look at the original AR model? My explanation as to why my assault rifle can fire standard bullets and shotgun shells is as follows: .45 caliber rounds and .410 shotgun shells are close enough to the same diameter that it is possible to chamber a gun to fire both (This is fact, there are guns that really exist chambered to fire both). And the size of the rounds most assault rifles fire isn't too far off a .410 shell, so I could see a clip made to fit either as well.
In any case, I remember a nice way of explaining it for the other weapon models. You had a rifle proper with an attached, underslung shotgun or launcher. The shotgun could fire any number of special shells- solid slugs, buckshot, grenades, even incendiary devices. This means Burst, Sniper Rifle and Full Auto are the actual gun firing, while Slug, Buckshot, Beanbag, M30 Grenade, Flamethrower and Ignite are the shotgun attachment.
By the way, you might want to take a look at this picture. -
AR does not need to be buffed and anyone who pretends otherwise is either a troll or just sucks at playing it. It's not "less damage" or "more inaccurate", and if you think it is, you're missing the point of it being AoE based and not a ST juggernaut like other blast powers.

Quote:I'm pretty sure it's perfectly possible for a suit of power armor to provide mental protection in the form of some energy shielding or a chip implanted in a helmet. This is the absolutely only way to make the psi def + mez protection work. There is simply no other conceivable way for the powerset to have any and still fit a theme. It doesn't hold up flavor wise. Most powered armor, unless they are some really wired magical type, don't do something like this. The only reference I have seen to something like this is The Juggernaut's helmet, but that was a specific magical item, not a suit of power armor. I am looking at a history of Iron Man and anime, and even in the magical mecha they didn't even protect the user's mind or was a non issue, examples in anime: Escaflona and Eva (where the mech attacked their minds actually).
Also if I had to drop one to make this more applyable, not a god defense set, as every set of defence has at least one weakness this should be replaced. double up on another defense type, personally I would give it another damage reduction type.
So if you are dead set on this power, please give us some references, and what other type of defense do you want this powers weakness to be?
If you even bothered to read the first post, you'd realize that "power armor" here does not solely refer to the big suits of armor. Power armor can be bulky, it can be skin-tight, it can be based on magical enchantments rather than technological. The sole requirement for this powerset is that you have some type of armor, and it has shielding. That's it. Mental shields are perfectly plausible in both a magical and technological way, and none of your delusional trolling is going to change that. Sorry you pretend otherwise.
Also, - the powerset has little neg energy def and no resist, low psionic def and no resist, and no toxic def (there isn't any, I think) and little resist. The negative energy hole is the biggest, but psionic and toxic are also effective. -

I think it's suitably different enough to warrant it's own set. Think of the differences between Katana and Ninja Blade.
-
The bulk of the "gun" is just a holder and electronics system. The actual gun (which can be just about any weapon and is separate from the actual holder thing) is entirely in the segment that folds to the sides.

Quote:This is bad, let me fix it.I got this fun idea for Tanks, Scrappers, and Brutes! Why not have something that is not use a lot?? Like Chainsaws! I know this would be hard to use and keep the villains alive :P But so are the swords, guns, and fire.
1. Slice- Melee, Moderate DMG(Lethal), Foe -DEF(All)
2. Hack- Melee, High DMG(Lethal), Foe -DEF(All)
3. Slash- Melee, Minor DMG(Lethal), Self +DEF(Lethal, Melee)
4. Build Up- Makes you stronger.
5. Taunt
6. Saw Strinke- Ranged, High DMG(Lethal), Damage over time. (You shoot one blade out of your Chainsaw)
7. Saw of Glory- Extreme DAG(Lethal, Melee) use for five seconds
8.
9. Chains of Death- Melee, Extreme DMG(Lethal), Foe -DEF(All) (You spin for 5 seconds)
I could not think of 9 of them :P I am not good at thinking of new names hehehe. Oh, the 5 second thing is because that about how long attacks like Fire Breath is on at least I think so it could be 3 :P So what do you think?
SYNOPSIS: Broadsword/Super Strength hybrid.
CHAINSAWS (scrapper, tanker, brute, stalker): You wield a vicious, bladed chainsaw to slice and dice your foes. While this powerset offers superior damage and the ability to knock your opponents to the ground, it is primarily lethal, and the heavy chainsaw puts a greater strain on your endurance.
1/1: Slash: Moderate damage ST attack, lethal damage, 4 second recharge
A quick lateral slice with your Chainsaw. Deals moderate damage and is fairly fast.
1/2: Hack: High damage ST attack, lethal damage, 8 second recharge
You hack down on an enemy with your Chainsaw. Does more damage than Slash, but is slower.
2/4: Shredder: Moderate damage cone attack, 50 degree arc, foe KD, lethal damage, 8 second recharge
You swing your Chainsaw in a wide arc at the enemies in front of you. The force of this attack may knock some enemies down.
6/10: Accelerant: Self +dmg, +tohit for 2 mins, -dmg, -def, -end for 10 seconds after (Replaced with Build Up for stalkers)
You can fuel your Chainsaw with a special accelerant, causing it to rev faster and improve your ability to penetrate armor and deal damage. However, the fuel will wear off in two minutes, leaving you unable to deal significant damage, and your Defense will be reduced as you try to restart the saw.
8/16: Disembowel: Superior damage ST attack, foe KD, lethal damage, 20 second recharge
You rip into a single foe, attempting to Disembowel him. Even if you don't kill him outright, you still deal serious damage and knock him to the ground.
12/20: Taunt/confront (Replaced with Assassin's Sawblade for stalkers)
18/28: Tendon Rip: Minor damage ST attack, foe disorient, lethal damage, 20 second recharge
You can saw into an enemy's tendons and muscle, leaving them unable to attack or run away for a significant duration.
26/35: Toss Saw: High damage ranged attack, 80 feet, foe -fly, KD, lethal damage, 8 second recharge (Replaced with Placate for stalkers)
You toss your chainsaw like a boomerang, striking a single ranged target. The force behind the saw has the ability to knock Flying foes out of the sky.
32/38: Carnage: Extreme damage PBAoE attack, foe KD, lethal damage, 30 sec recharge
You swing your Chainsaw around you, spinning and slashing at every enemy in melee range. The sheer force behind your attack has the ability to knock your enemy to the ground. -
I would like a "pre-invention" server - where the game mechanics never really progressed past I8 (except for a couple vital things, like VEATs, costume pieces, power customization, vet rewards, etc). But that's about it.

Quote:It works, and it makes perfect sense. Using the high-tech equipment on your pulse rifle, you activate a program that analyzes a set of enemies in a cone in front of you and distributes knowledge of their weaknesses to your teammates. It is a cone-shaped, slightly weaker clone of Surveillance. Not sure how well a debuff-version replacement for Aim would work - it's essentially a Surveillance clone turned into a cone effect capped at 16 targets, which is already pretty out of place in a Blast set. Taking into account the fact that Blasters actually have access to Surveillance through APPs...
-
It's not out of flavour and it's the only thing that you can put there that really makes sense to have psi def and mez protection. It's literally your power armour protecting your mind from attack.

It would please me greatly if I could have a motorcycle for Super Speed, but I don't see it happening.

No it doesn't, Pain Dom does
Quote:The Aura combined with heal other allow you to keep the team healed and provide even better healing to anyone that is in trouble with Heal Other.
Quote:Frankly I skip Absorb Pain..
Quote:1) you already have an outstand solo heal in Heal Others that recovers very quickly and Quote:2) I tend to avoid any power that takes away from MY hitpoints to do anything. Basically you can't heal anyone if you wind up face down on the floor because you died after using it and then got attacked.
Quote:You have a good Rez and some pretty good buff. One nice thing is two of those are also aura so they will benefit you as well as the members of your team.
Quote:Thermal has good heals and adds some great buff. It has only one debuff but Melt Armor is outstanding. The one drawback is that while Empathy also has 2 buffs (auras that can actually help you. Thermal has graet buffs but the only person on the team you can't buff is YOU.
Quote:One added advatage of Themal is its Rez which brings back your fallen team mate and causes an explosion damaging anything around them.
Quote:dark, kin, rad, etc
Quote:If you take EMP do NOT skip your later powers.
Quote:Fortitude and Clear Mind will become your go to power in the later game. CM recovers very quickly and doesn't require much more than a single Recharge Reduction to enable you to quickly protect the entire team. Fort is slower and needs 1-2 Recharges to get it down to being available about every 30 seconds. It does buff the individual you use it on adding to their defense and increasing their accuracy.
Quote:Whatever you decide on do not think of yourself solely as a "healer". By the later game most players defense is strong enough that no one cares if they have a HEALOR along or not.
Quote:Take your attacks from your secondary and enhance them.. My phylosphy with my EMP always was a good offense is the best defense. I may not do as much damage as a Scrapper or a Blaster.. heck in some cases not even as much as a Controller but ANY damage is good damage and if everything in front of us is on the ground and not moving the need to heal has ended. I like to call that preventative medicine LOL -
If you want a partner to fight along side that badly, why not just team up with a buddy
-
There was a guy who didn't like it. He gave me neg rep. Apparently, the "suggestion is relative solid in the numbers, but ties too much to a specific source definition of the power. needs to be more general to allow freedom". I suppose you could always just pretend you're not wearing armour, much in the same way you could take Fire Armor and pretend you're not really on fire :V

Quote:The mez protection is spread out because it wouldn't really make any sense to have it all in just one power. The thing that makes up for the spread out mes protection is the fact that KB, Immob, Repel and TP protection is automatic, i.e. not a toggle. You only have 3 toggles that you'll be keeping on "normally", and two other "specialty" toggles that sap a good amount of end./grabby hands
Gimme!
I would suggest the majority of mez resist going into the Mez shield main, however. There are very few sets with mez protection spread out, such as DA and FA that I can think of, niether of which (IMO) are any better off from it. DA is arguably worse off, because it forces you to take yet another toggle to even function at base efficiency.
That said, I love it. /Signed
Just need the wrist mounted chain guns and the back mounted laser canon to go with it, and Hell-Oh PPD armour >_> -
Quote:So basically, you want it to be a ripoff of CO's Power Armor. Nice job there.I hope they come out with a power armor set but make it offense with a bit of defence.
Some weapons would include:
-Missile barrage (pick your emanation point) and fire off like they do from the Arachnos Flyer.
-Mini-gun: Possibly mounted on your shoulder...would move up and auto fire.
-Massive hand held gun (like some of the 5th use). Just a nasty assault item.
-Smart bombs (mini drones that orbit you and attack the enemy - yes, much like PBs).
-The OP had some good ideas too...seems like it is very possible with the current engine.
-Lots of other options and seeing how Iron Man is in vogue lately...why not
This powerset is made to cater to people who -aren't- in huge bulky suits of armor as well. Power Armor is a loose term. It just means "armour that is powered". This can be a huge suit of high-tech armor, a magical suit of armor, even a skin-tight costume with some sort of armor plating weave. It doesn't have to be Iron Man esque.
