Hey, I have a question. Is is "allowed" to ask for someone to pay for a month of CoX in the forums FOR you?
[/ QUOTE ]
While I appreciate the thought more than you can imagine, Moldy, it's just that I can't get my PC online...it's in a room with no means of connecting...;o.k., there -are- 2 ways, neither of which would be pleasant, and I'm not sure 1 of them would even work...:
The 1st is to have the old phone jack in the room reactivated and have a new DSL line installed; this would be the easiest way, but it makes no sense to pay for installation and 2 months of service whereupon I'd have no use for it once I leave.
The 2nd could involve a USB wifi adaptor...we have a router in another room that the PC I'm typing this on now is hooked into...and while my Wii can pick it up fine(the Wii is configured to 'read' it), I dunno the router's WIP info and have no means(or even HOW to) of getting this...and would this even work in the 1st place?

I remember back on OoBe in the old days when NOIS (Now: Kois) was a new player I'd always pester him about playing the Croatoa TF with me. We had lots of fun. He was a badge [censored] if there ever was one!He enjoyed doing it Anyway, the point of my story is that NOIS used to play CoH on a Computer from one of those public places where you pay to play. I'm not sure if he was using his own computer or using the one they provided which is what I had always assumed because he came on once and was asking around if he did anything really mean to people and stuff. He said he left his account online by accident or something and someone got on there. Anywhoooo... Don't do anything illegal just to play the game
I'll still be here. I just can't figure out how to use a widow. I'll be trying to figure it out until you return.
Question 2: Can you still post on the forums even if you stop paying/put your account on hold?

This means, No. It is not next month.
-
If they allow Double XP, I'll go 1-50 in about 6 hours because of AE. I don't think they'd like to allow that.
-
For real, the holds on them are ridiculous. It's striving me to not PvP in that zone. As if Player vs. Player isn't unbalanced enough, the heavies make it even worse. Lower the hold times to something that isn't an "I win" for most players
Please? -

If I ever get confused in a mission and I'm on a team I take it upon myself to attack the weakest teammate closest to me. I don't have much time. If I'm lucky, I'm on my stalker and I'll turn off my armor's confusion protection and will attempt an Assasin's Blade into their face.
I warn the team ahead of time. Usually at the beginning of a mission with Succubus mobs you will hear this...
"If I get confused, I'm coming for you. Don't be surprised if you get AS'ed."
They laugh each time...
I laugh with them...
Until they hit the floor...
"WHAT THE [censored]! WHY DID YOU DO THAT?!"
"I [censored] warned you. Did you think I was kidding?" -
I've ditched my Ice/Ice Corruptor (yet, I have her sitting on the sidelines for when I do need her) and I've spent a handful of Infamy on a new character. I'm almost ready! I just need 3 more levels and some purples.
@_@ Actually... I'm having difficulty deciding over Purples or sticking with PvP Recipes like I've been doing. -
As being here since a few months after release, I took a break just after issue 8 came out. I returned just before issue 14 came out, made a 50 in 13 days, then issue 14 came out and AE was released and I've been loving it ever since.
You'll like it when Going Rogue comes. That is your best bet. Hold off the best you can until it does come out. You'll be happy you did.
I played FFXI and GaiaOnline in the meantime. FFXI sucks. It never gets updated but 4 times a year which is really upsetting. Maybe you can find something new to keep you busy? -
You'll be back. They always come back.
See you again, soon!

In the course a short conversation, he admits that he is only 8 years old. I check his badges and see 60 month vet badge.
[/ QUOTE ]
My 10 year old has a couple of toons on my accounts, however I NEVER let her play the game by herself. I'm always sitting next to her and in skype/vent with the people she teams with, all of which are people I play with in the game. Unfortunately there are too many [censored] in the game for me to think about her playing on her own. I also realize this is a Teen rated game, and its my job to police what she does and not the games. (Please do NOT take this as me talking down to people that do allow their children to play unsupervised. That is not where or what it was intended for.)
And for this reason and many others is why I always try to help people, no matter what the questions maybe. I've been playing the game for almost 3 years and I still have questions. Proc enhancements still confuse me, so I never take for granted when someone asks in a polite way (even with bad grammar). I was in SC killing blue ink men for a badge when someone ran up to me and asked how to get aura's. I explained where and how to get them.
Players that encounter too many rude people may quit the game, and that person has the potential of being a great player and wonderful person, regardless of how they started out.

I wish I could rate posters and not threads. And then threads would recieve stars based on the poster's average rating. I'd give you 5/5. -

A. INTRO
I. What is this?
This guide is designed to give you a better understanding of what a noob is, how to recognize them, some details about them, and how to avoid or get rid of them. It mostly applies to online forums, which are the main targets of migrating noobs.
II. Defining 'Noob'
Contrary to the belief of many, a noob/n00b and a newbie/newb are not the same thing. Newbs are those who are new to some task* and are very beginner at it, possibly a little overconfident about it, but they are willing to learn and fix their errors to move out of that stage. Noobs, on the other hand, know little and have no will to learn any more. They expect people to do the work for them and then expect to get praised about it, and make up a unique species of their own. It is the latter we will study in this guide so that the reader is prepared to encounter them in the wild if needed. Noobs are often referred to as n00bs as a sign of disrespect toward them, and it's often hella funny, but I will refer to them as noobs during this reading.
* Usually the topic at hand on an internet forum.
Top
B. COMMON NOOB CHARACTERISTICS
I. Noobish
Often, but not always, noobs will attempt to communicate in their own primitive language, known as noobish. It is a variant of the hacker language that exposes them as having little intelligence or will to learn. Here is an example of some noobish. Do not attempt to comprehend it: it cannot be discerned without professionals at hand.
[censored] /\/\an, i r teh r0xx0rz liek emin3m, u cna go tO EHLL OR ATLE4St help m3 wit hthIS!!111!!!!!!!1~~1!!``!! LOLLOLOLLOLOLlOoLLOlollLLl u n00b
Although you may find this unbelievably funny and/or annoying, it is best to restrain yourself and keep from talking back to them, as they are very territorial and easily angered. This will result in their attempted verbal abuse of you, possibly backed up by other noobs, because they work in packs when doing offensive tasks. It is not an easy task to learn this language because our intelligent accent will keep it from sounding quite right when spoken. You can write some simple noobish of your own, however, by slamming your face into your keyboard repeatedly.
II. Where to find noobs
On the internet, noobs make their colonies on forums. They migrate in waves, usually on weekends, and proceed to clog up bandwidth with stupid questions and sometimes even stupid answers. If you happen to be unfortunate enough to be on a board large enough to attract migrating noobs, there will hopefully be authority in charge who is smart enough to take extermination measures before they can make nests and larger colonies.
Larger colonies can result in the mutation of some into spammers. Not commercial spammers, but pointless spammers. A noob can become one of these at any point, but the larger the amount of noobs, the more chance pointless spammers will appear.
Off the internet, noobs appear anywhere the focus is on learning or discussing something specific.
III. Behaviour of noobs
Since noobs are basically ignorant bastards, they have a lot in common. The most often seen characteristic is their fluency in noobish, which is why it got its own section. They will also be very self confident as if they were the absolute best at what they are in fact the worst at. Also, they are quite aggressive and self-centered, and tend to laugh a lot using many L's and O's in rapid succession (the noobish word for laughing like an ultimate retard).
It is their instinct to assemble in packs for defence, and they often attempt to organize packs that they call teams. Unfortunately for them, teams usually result in a total loss of communication and they can often begin to fight amongst each other. These teams are quite unlike those formed by non-noobs.
Noobs have difficulty reading English and cannot comprehend the idea of authority.
Therefore, they have an all-out disregard for rules, basic or not. A good way to identify a noob (bad) vs. a newb (good) is to tell them (or have an authority tell them) which rule they are unknowingly breaking. If they respond with an apology and fix it, they are probably not a noob. If they react by insulting everything around them in rapid noobish and causing general mayhem, it is because they are a noob and have had a small seizure due to their inability to understand what is happening.
IV. Noob religion
Noobs follow a variation of the 1337 (sometimes 7331) religion, in which they worship the number in odd rituals and put altars in their forum avatars and signatures. They often call themselves 1337, which experts say is somewhat like calling themselves godly in a human language. It's best to not interfere with their religious fantasies and practices because that can lead to a noob uprising, which can turn a forum to mush in less than a week.
C. AVOIDING NOOBS
I. Make sure you aren't one
Note: This section is bilingual so even noobs can make the discovery if they haven't already.
English (T4lk)-
Read the above parts of this guide carefully. If you find yourself unable to comprehend any of it but are instead beginning to think about how great you are and how awesome 'teh 1337' is, you might want to take one of the many available online quizzes to check your noobancy.

I guess this is a rant about the influx of new players with lvl 50s who don't know the basic things. I ran into a player in Pocket D, a lvl 7 PB who was asking how they got out. I glanced at their personal info to find not even a single vet reward, no gladiator badges, and a total of 3 (all Atlas park) exploration badges. They said they had been playing 45 days. *sigh* they didn't even know where Peregrine Island was.
I know we were all newbs at one point in time...but isn't that a bit rediculous?
[/ QUOTE ]
I have 9 level 50s and have only had this account almost 4 months. I just found out last night that I can put in "%Chance for x" IOs into auto powers... Using this as logic I've put together a list of known facts gathered from all the threads on the forums:
<ul type="square"> [*] I'm a noob. [*] I shouldn't be allowed to have a level 50. [*] MA ruined the game. [*] I'm the kind of person who complains that pvp sucks just because I can't win. [*] I 2shot Assasin's Strike everyone in low level PvP zones and boast my PvP skills to the point of 3lit3-ness. [*] I have a 2nd account that farms PvP badges in Bloody Bay using what some ppl call an exploit and what some ppl say is PvP. [*] RMT are ruining the game with spam emails! But yet... I still reply back to them with expletives in a reply email each time. [*] I think PvP zones shouldn't have badges because I can never get them without getting ganked by a stalker. [*] I cry in PvP zones when I get killed.[*] I get petitioned for trying to cyber in local in Pocket D during an open RP session. I don't know why. I thought that was the whole point of rolling a female character.[*] I hold costume contests and pick the most [censored] up costumes.[*] When I lose a costume contest, I accuse it of being rigged and say the winners have [censored] ugly costumes. Then I report them for copyright/trademark infringements.[*] Finally... I PLed a level pacted account from 1-47 in less then 24 hours... Yesterday...
"Waaaah! It took me 6 months to get a 50!"
"Yeaaaa... Let me take back what I just said and say this...
"24 hours, [censored]! And I've been playing less then 4 months!"[/list]
The end. By the way... Ranting is against the Forum Rules. It's stickied at the top of every forum. Did you miss that? What? You didn't know it was against the rules? Oh... You must have skipped over the rules of the forum by accident. It's okay. I forgive you. I rant anyway, too. Don't visit Pinnacle forums. It's nothing but drama. -
Thank you for pointing that out to me. I was pretty confused.

[ QUOTE ]
Quotes just... quote things. They override the command shell's normal way of breaking up a line into separate tokens (words). Adding quotes that don't change the tokens, doesn't change the command. If, however, BayBlast meant, "If the original set of quotes are extended around anything else then it won't work", that would be correct. For example:
"E:\City of Heroes\CityOfHeroes.exe -project" coh -maxinactivefps 5 -maxfps 25
would try to run a file called "CityOfHeroes.exe -project", which is nonsense. However,
"E:\City of Heroes\CityOfHeroes.exe" "-project" "coh" "-maxinactivefps" "5" "-maxfps" "25"
should work just fine. There are lots of extra quotes, but they are all useless (unless I am forgetting something about Windows interpreting dash-prefixed options automatically, but I believe that is up to the application).
[/ QUOTE ]
Still is verifying files for me using: [ QUOTE ]
"-project" "coh" "-maxinactivefps" "5" "-maxfps" "25"
[/ QUOTE ]
Edit: I crashed last night, decided to go to sleep since I had to work in 4 hours, worked, just got home, changed it to the quote above and I'm verifying files. (I just wanted to make it clear what is happening) -
<qr>
Question: Can I use two -commands at the same time?
[ QUOTE ]
"C:\Documents and Settings\Dustin\Desktop\CohUpdater.exe" -maxinactivefps 5 -project coh
[/ QUOTE ]
Is my request possible? It doesn't seem to work right now. I'm wondering what I'm doing wrong. I'd like to keep "-maxinactivefps 5" and add "-project coh" also. I often crash one of the CoVs that is running when dual boxing on the same computer and have to verify files each time.
