Sting saw Coolant come out of his chamber. You ok man? You look as bad as I feel. Sting brushed some ash off the end of his shortened antenna. Lets get the boss patched up and then make sure our guest isnt dead.
[/ QUOTE ]
Ill check on Chilled, Newton said tiredly. He snagged another couple of cookies and started upstairs.
The holding room was cool. The big Outcast was still, but Newton could see Chilleds breath rising in the room. Sheesh, Newton mumbled. He looks like he was run over by a truck. Or a walking refrigerator, he said with slight grin.
Newton called down the stairs. Hes still alive, but, boy, is he going to be hurting when he wakes up. Glancing at the room where the other two gang members were, he added. I told you we should have given him to Poison Sting. Your way is much too slow, Coolant. He grinned as he heard more whimpering from behind the door. -
[ QUOTE ]
Oh $#i7 that hurts! Sting was still on his hands and knees, as he took heavy, hissing breaths. Boss, you gotta get that leg bandaged. Who is the medic in this unit? Sting started to get up and fell back to one knee, then decided to just lay on his back on the floor, holding his side. Coolant ok? And do we have any vegetable matter left? I need some for this wound.
[/ QUOTE ]
Newton reached into refrigerator unit and grabbed a head of lettuce. Will this work? He asked, tossing the it to the prone Sting.
Newton picked up another Dew, popped it open and took a few more sips. He stood up and hurried to the unconscious Chilled. He focused on the cell upstairs, and sent the Outcast there.
[ QUOTE ]
Sting, Newton, if you could get him in here, Ill see what I can do, replied the very tired hero as he fought off sleep.
[/ QUOTE ]
Bandages bandages Just a moment Newton focused on his storage unit miles away, found what he was looking for, and yanked the large first aid kit through a wormhole. He wavered, drank some more Mountain Dew, and opened a bag of chewy Chips Ahoy. Thatll help, I hope, Cool, he said as he ate a couple cookies. Oye, he said again as he sat back down and leaned against a wall.

[ QUOTE ]
Boss, get out of here! You are too much of a target for the incoming. Sting dodged a bolt of flame from Brander, who was hanging tough considering the beating he was taking.
[/ QUOTE ]
Newton heard the insect man's words buzz through the singularity. Newton raised his hand, noticed it was shaking, swore softly, and reached out for Mystic Inferno. The robed man stood next to him a few moments later.
Newton swayed, and staggered. He was no longer light on his feet, and moved like a man his build. He reached out one singularity. "C'mon, c'mon," he said, searching for Sting's elusive form.
[ QUOTE ]
Sting was hurting and tired, hoping he could hold out long enough for Newton to work his magic.
[/ QUOTE ]
"Gotchya," Newton said. No time to be subtle. Newton yanked hard, and the lean insect-man, bathed in flames from Brander, flew into the room.
Newton collapsed next to the refrigeration unit. He reached in, grabbed a Mountain Dew, and chugged it. "Oye," he said a moment later. -
"You got it, Boss!" The cheerful facade was gone as Newton threw out four singularities at once. He followed the first one back to the Two-Six, cursing as he struck the wall outside of Cool's room. He'd thrown himself through the wormhole with a little too much enthusiasm.
The second singularity was locked on Chilled, and Newton wasn't too gentle. The Outcast careened down the hall and struck the desk in the outer office. If he wasn't out before, he surely would be now. Newton reminded himself to check what the desk was made out of later. It hadn't budged when the hefty Outcast struck it.
Newton didn't know exactly what to do with Coolant. He hurried to Cool's big refrigeration unit, swung it open, and then focused the third singularity inside. A moment later, Cool's unconscious form was deposited inside.
The whole time, he was also listening through the fourth singularity. He pulled the radio out of his red sweatshirt. "Mystic, do you want to come back? Sting, do you copy?" Maybe verbalizing would help Sting pull out of the murderous state he was in... -
As Mystic Inferno had distracted Brander, Newton was able to focus in on the others in the situation. He had seen the child, and had thrown a gravity bubble around her to help protect her not from everything, but every little bit helped.
[ QUOTE ]
Coolant quickly reigned in his emotions as he realized how far he had almost gone. He turned off his ice leaving himself defenseless and leaped over to the fallen child to shield her. He quickly placed his emergency teleportation beacon on the child and activated it.
[/ QUOTE ]
Another bubble was thrown up to protect Cool.
[ QUOTE ]
Brander managed to lean back far enough that the first spine only penetrated his thigh. Not a scrape, or even a deep gash in one side and out the other almost pinning the Outcast to the ground. Fortunately for Brander, most of the poison ejected onto the ground in a small, smelly pool.
The spine from the other forearm was cocked back, ready to make its point with Brander.
[/ QUOTE ]
Newton threw one of his singularities at Sting, pulling him through the wormhole to the other end of the alley, separating Sting from his prey. Man, hes going to hate that, the green-haired man murmured as he saw the bestial, mindless look on the insect-mans face. -
[ QUOTE ]
Mystic, you copy?
[/ QUOTE ]
The response was a homing beacon. I guess he doesnt copy, Newton said, sending a singularity to the source of the beacon. He raised it ten feet above Mystic, and forced himself through.
He found an old Honda in flames with five gang members and a beautiful blond all in front of Mystic Inferno. Newton reached out his hand and caught up the two Skulls with pistols.
Ive got to pay more attention to gang colors, Newton thought. Im really confused as to which gangs these guys belong to.
Bubbles! Newton called out as he got a gravity bubble around Mystic.
A six foot four guy with piercings raised his arms and shot flame at Newton. Newton yelped as the flames licked him. Grabbing a pool table he had seen from two days ago Steel City, he yanked it through a wormhole and smashed it into the flamer. The big man was knocked back, but surged back to his feet.
Oh, this isnt going to be pretty, Newton muttered. -
His radio beeped. "Excuse me," Newton said, looking at the lone Skull he had found trying to break into one of the warehouses.
[ QUOTE ]
This is Coolant System. The tattoo parlor was a waste of time. I am going to scout the surrounding area.
[/ QUOTE ]
Newton turned his attention back to the Skull. "So, are you absolutely positive you don't know where to find some Outcasts?" the green-haired man asked the gangster calmly.
"N-n-n-n-no!" The pasty white man was looking down at the ground. It was a full three hundred feet away.
"Are you sure?" Newton idly rotated the man so he was upside down. "Gee, I never noticed. The people look like ants down there, don't they."
"I swear to you, I don't know any Sudden Chilled.
Are you positive? The man sank 20 feet rapidly. Six foot? Two hundred and forty pounds of muscle? Outcast? Newton brought him back up to this level. Fourteen tattoos?
There is a guy with lots of tats who hangs out over on Bacon Lane! the hapless Skull said. Has a girl there. We dont mess with him. Hes nuts, even for an Outcast!
Anything else? Newton asked. The man sank twenty feet again, and was brought back up.
Naw, man, the gangster begged. Lemme down now!
Thank you, neighbor, for the information. Newton attached an arrest tab to the Skull. A suggestion, the green-haired man said as he rotated the Skull back to vertical. Dont let me find you in this neighborhood again. You see, Im the nice one on this beat now. If I see you again, I send Poison Sting after you. Hes the cranky one. Newton smiled. Take care, he said as he activated the tab.
The Skull disappeared.
Mystic Inferno was checking out the girls place. Newton hoped that he was okay. He pulled out his radio Mystic, you copy? -
Newton followed Coolant System out of the building. He reduced the effects of gravity upon him even more, and floated straight up. Once up a hundred feet, he looked in the direction of the warehouses. He sent out the friendly singularity, and then followed it through the wormhole.
He was high enough to see what was going on, but not so high as too really attract too much attention. He did see several groups of Skulls, but no Outcasts.
He pulled the radio out of his sweatshirt pocket and punched in his birthday 09-04-80 and grinned suddenly. This the Apple to Snow Whites Brigade. No sign of Dopey or any of the other dwarves. Hope the Poison, Prince Charming and the Wicked Step-Mother are having better luck. No 'happily ever after' here."
Chuckling, reached out another wormhole and jumped through it. -
Newton nodded as he looked over Sting's shoulder. "I'll cover this area. Warehouses, parking lots, open spaces. I want to see what's coming. I don't have have those movement sensing antannae, so I want to see them coming." Newton chuckled.
-
[ QUOTE ]
Heh, wouldn't be surprised if it is someone at City Hall."
[/ QUOTE ]
Youre a little cynical about our government? Newtons Apple snorted. Not that I blame you. The mutant issue, you understand, will definitely make one cynical. He rolled his eyes.
So, I put in a vote for looking at his hangout first, then the girlfriends. -
[ QUOTE ]
If they sense a challenge, they usually back down. Umm Newton you may just want to stay out of sight.
[/ QUOTE ]
Hey! I resemble that remark! Newton said in mock annoyance. To ensure that Cool knew he was kidding, he tosses a friendly grin at him.
[ QUOTE ]
So what is first, beat people up, or fix the place? Either way Im ready to go. Sting clipped the radio to his belt. It hung somewhat clumsily there and he tried to get it to stay a little better. Man I am going to lose this thing first leap.
[/ QUOTE ]
I vote for beating people up, Newton said, picking up one of the radios. He turned to Coolant System. You say this is low tech crap? Can you make us something better? Or know where we can get some cheap? The green-haired mutant stuck the radio in his sweatshirt pocket. I could try to grav them to us, but that messes up the electronics something fierce. -
Newton dug into the fourth bag and pulled out six boxes of lightbulbs. "This is a start, at least," he said, handing them to Sting.
He turned to Coolant System. "Thanks for the refrigeration. Nothing is much worse than a warm Mountain Dew." He pulled a cold bottle of Dew out fo the fourth bag, too.
"So, boss, do we have a physical description of this Chilled dude? Or his girlfriend? Does he have any homies Newton stopped in mid-sentence and shook his head. Man, white guys should not be saying homies. It just doesnt sound right. He unscrewed the bottle and took a swig. Does he have any other gang members we should be watching for?
And youll notice, I completely avoided the rebuilding subject. Ill help hold things, lift things, and so forth, but you dont want to put a tool in my hand. Bad things happen when I try to use them. I wouldnt mind an office, but lets get you set up first, Mystic. Youre the one they requested to get things set up.
Team work works for me. -
[ QUOTE ]
Mystic went around collecting everyone once the radios arrived. Has anyone seen Newton?
[/ QUOTE ]
Ask you shall receive, Newton said as he walked in the front doors. Tagging behind him were five bags of groceries, two cases of Mountain Dew, and a cooler. I forgot to look; do we have a refrigerator. If not, Ive got ice and a cooler until we get one.
He looked around the reception area. Looks very nice, boss. He motioned and the groceries landed on the desk. He pulled out an apple out of the first bag and started munching on it. -
[ QUOTE ]
Coolant sat back down and picked up his welder before adding, The old man that runs it is fond of heroes. Bring up what youre doing around here; you might get a discount.
[/ QUOTE ]
Thanks, Cool. I most surely will, Newton said as he walked out of Coolants chamber. Whatever the machine Cool was tinkering with was big. He assumed it had something to do with Cool controlling his power. Eventually, the armored man may be comfortable enough to explain how he got his powers and what his true story was, but theyd known each other less than 24 hours. At least he was being cheerful and helpful; Coolant System did, however, eavesdrop.
Newton didnt blame him at all. As a matter of fact, he had one of his little singularities above the central room so he could hear all of what was going on.
Newton sent another one down the block towards the store Coolant had mentioned. Another moment of pressure, and Newton was standing right in front of it. Amazingly, there were no gang members. The green-haired mutant went in, and smiled cheerfully at the older man behind the counter. Gday, friend. Im Newtons Apple, one of the heroes whove moved into the old Two-Six. I thought Id come down, introduce myself, and get some supplies. Newtons Apple patted his broad stomach. As you can tell, Ive got a healthy appetite, so youll be seeing me fairly often. -
Newton grimaced. "You'd be amazed at how much sugar and caffeine I need in a day. I'll grab food for all of us. I noticed you like your meat pretty raw. I'll grab some fresh meat, too. Bread, fruit, peanut butter, you know, the basics."
"Let Mystic know where I went. I'm going to go find Cool and see if he wants anything." Newton wandered off in search of the armored man. -
"I'm glad we won't be waiting too long," Newton said, bouncing up and down a little on his toes. "I don't like waiting. Patience is not one of my virtues." He looked over at insect man. "I'm going to make a quick run to the store. I feel the need for some chocolate chip cookies and a Mountain Dew. You want anything?"
-
[ QUOTE ]
"Hey man, you were pretty awsome in there. You shoulda been an actor or something." He spoke quietly enough to be sure the thug would not hear.
[/ QUOTE ]
Why, thank thee, kind sir, Newton said with a courtly bow. Nice to know all those plays, classes, and lessons I took werent a complete waste of time. The green-haired mutant straightened and gave Sting a sly look. You played the psychopathic jailer quite convincingly. I think we both could have been a little better if we hadnt been half a second from bursting into laughter, though.
[ QUOTE ]
"From what I heard, it sounds like we may be going after one of those Freezer guys. I'm not big on cold but if you can keep guys dangling helplessly I guess I don't have to be."
[/ QUOTE ]
Hey, I know they would love to hang out with you, Newton laughed. Do you know when we might head after him? -
Newton sat in front of the mirror, washing the black and the gel out of his mustache and eyebrows. seven years ago, when he entered college, he had tried to pass himself off as a normal human. That had lasted all of three weeks. His hair would not take any sort of dye job, and it was always the eyebrows that gave him away. By the end of a day, the green had repelled whatever eyebrow pencil, pen, paint, or dye he had tried.
Things didn't work quite the way everyone had in mind, but teamwork doesn't always come with the first try. It was a very good thing that the punks were very weak; against two of the Lost or a Warrior, and the outcome could have been very different.
Newton carefully cleaned the brushes, tightly sealed everything, and sent the trunk back to where he had gotten it from.
He went looking for the others, and hopefully a little junk food would also find it's way to him. -
[ QUOTE ]
Question 1: What's your favorite color?
[/ QUOTE ]
Mithril Zeta: "I like a nice burgandy, but my eyes glow green. I haven't seen a nice burgandy in a long time. I miss the full visual spectrum. " -
Newton sat cross legged in the room they had set aside as the office. His eyes were shut, but his eyes were moving rapidly beneath his closed lids. There, he murmured. A few moments later, a large trunk appeared in front of him. He opened his eyes. Right where I left it.
He made it lighter, and he pushed it over to the desk. He tapped the lock once and it popped open. Inside were dozens of small make-up canisters, several wigs, cans of colored hair spray, bottles of latex, and colored eyeliner pencils. He looked over at Mystic. I have everything we need. Given a little time, I could even make Sting look like Kirsten Dunst. He grinned at the insect man.
They left the office and went to the roof. Newton focused his attention to the other roof. He sent a singularity to it, making sensing where the chimneys and other objects were. With a deep breath, he then had the singularity grab onto him and pull him through his personal little wormhole.
The moment of pressure ended, and the green-haired mutant turned and looked back across the street. He could see the other three heroes waiting. He waved cheerfully and mentally sent the friendly gravity point back over to them. A moment later, Mystic Inferno was standing beside him, then Coolant System, and lastly Poison Sting.
Thats my part. From here on out, I stay out of sight and make them float, Newton grinned. Try not to get dead. -
Mithril Zeta, is a substitute teacher who is taking classes at Paragon University to get his full teaching license in English. Hes older late 30s. and was a full-time teacher before he got his powers. For more info on him, take a look at the Paragon University RP
Newtons Apple is a full-time hero. He does odd jobs to survive, particularly heavy moving (with gravity control, its not really heavy lifting.) Right now, he can be found in the Two-Six RP.
The Ancient Doctor is an eccentric old man who has vast knowledge of the healing arts over the last several thousand years. Hell hang out in hospitals, and medical staff will occasionally ask his advice on bizarre cases.
KaSenne sees herself as a guardian of the Perez Park woods. Her goal is to get the gangs out of the park and turn the park back over to nature.
Azurus Rigason is a troll hunter. He spends a lot of time in the Hollows and Skyway.
The others Im still working on. I have some rough ideas. -
Newton leaned back in his chair and listened to the two physical heroes argue back and forth. Both had valid points, but he wasnt sure if the other could see them. Black and white thinking. Of course, whenever you are at the center of an argument, emotions will get in the way and you cant see the degrees of gray.
Newton suddenly found himself floating. It was odd having someone else make him float. The loss of control was a little unnerving, but it did give him some insight into the loss of control that both Sting with his instincts and Cool must have from being locked up in his armor.
[ QUOTE ]
If I can consider this matter closed, Ill go on to explain my plan. If you two have more to say, or I cant persuade you from engaging in combat here in the station on day two, then fine. And with that, he ended the spell, walking back over to the chair and picking up his sandwich. He noticed Newton hovering still. It will wear off in a second or two.
[/ QUOTE ]
Newton had an uncustomary thoughtful look on his face as he sank back to his chair. He looked at Mystic. So, when were you thinking about doing this little mission? he asked as he took another bite out of his sandwich. -
[ QUOTE ]
Sting moved over the an open area of the room and stood, looking at Coolant. Oh if you do get poisoned from my spines, which I doubt will penetrate the suit, tell the doctors insect anit-venom #6 is the one to use. Its a nasty necrotic poison which usually has a pretty limited effect, but has been known to leave lingering issues.
Sting stood in a nonchalant manner; as if he had done this before and was rather fatalistic about it.
[/ QUOTE ]
Newton pulled out a small pad of paper and a pen. Insect anti-venom number six He smiled sheepishly as the others stared at him. Im sorry. Friendly with a pharmacist. Going to have some on hand. For the criminals, of course. I have faith in our good Sting here. Hes a good man, he said, looking at Cool. If he wasnt, he wouldnt be trying not to kill. -
[ QUOTE ]
Now, I am not a master of stealth myself, but I can hover quietly enough not to attract too much attention. My suggestion is that we sneak in and try to capture them for interrogation purposes. But first we may wish to fix up one of the interrogation rooms. I have a thought on this, actually, since the place is already in shambles.
[/ QUOTE ]
Im all ears, boss, Newton said, mimicking Stings nickname for Mystic. Although I do have a suggestion on the sneaking in. It involves me floating to the roof, yanking all of you through a wormhole, and sneaking in from the top. I know it seems quite unnatural, not bursting through the front doors, he said glancing at the obviously more violent Sting and the heavily armored Cool, but Ive had some success with sneakiness as well. The green-haired man grinned.
But the interrogation room. What did you have in mind?
[ QUOTE ]
Sting thought for a moment. Interrogation; that means not killing them well not ALL of them anyway. But yeah, a room for interrogation sounds right. I call bad cop, who is going to be good cop?
[/ QUOTE ]
"I think that may be me," Newton laughed. "You may not have noticed it, but I have cultivated a very friendly personality. I can be very charming. And disarming." He waggled green eyebrows. "I mean, who would take me seriously." -
Newton's Apple leaned back, looking at their robed 'boss.' They were quite a set - two science experiements (or so it sounded like) a mage, and a mutant. He tugged at his muttonchop mustache started to think about tactics they would use for a fight.
Bubbles for everyone, Cool and Sting rush in, Mystic blasting, me weighting the enemies down and throwing forklifts and the like at them.
We're really missing a healer, Newton thought as he waited for Mystic's story.
