  2. The clear answer is no - there is no SoA costume except the first slot.

    Sorry.
  3. Apologies for the Necro, but I saw this and had to comment:

there is one very minor change that will give you an additional 3% defense to all types, with almost no change to any other stat. however, there are 2 important downsides:

    1. it involves a Glad Armor 3% Def PVP IO (approximate cost 2-2.5 bil)
    2. it involves Real Money (10 enhancement boosters, to be specific)

Remove the 3rd slot from Hasten, and boost the 2 remaining Recharge IO's to 50+5, then move that slot to Indomitable Will and slot the Glad Armor. This will shave a negligible amount of recharge off of Hasten, and give you the additional 3% Def!

(EDIT: in re-reading your build, I didn't see a Steadfast Protection Def IO in there either...so you can insert that in place of the Glad Armor for the same Def boost...or if you are able to sacrifice an additional slot from something else (Placate perhaps, using the same technique above?), you can have both! 6%!!)

The Boss is standing in the last room. The hostage stands there while you grind the boss down and then you lead the hostage out. End mission.
    BORING.

What I'd rather see as an approach:
You go to the warehouse, gain entry via an unguarded skylight. Inside you sneak through the vents, making your way to the security room. You quietly take out the thug watching the security cameras and disable the alarms. From the security monitors you find out where the hostage is being kept. Then you make your way through the warehouse, avoiding detection or taking out anyone before they can alert others to your presence. You get to the boss, catch him unawares and fight them and the free the hostage.

Or, you could do the exact same mission with another approach:
You go to the warehouse and crash through the wall. Immediately the enemies start to swarm you amid alarms going off. You cut your way through the crowd and topple some machinery to block more from arriving. You free the hostage but the boss is trying to make a run for it in a delivery van. You block his exit, grab and flip the van onto it's roof and pull him out.
Is it just me, or does this strike anyone else as Splinter Cell, with super powers?

That link takes you to the download page for amd fusion, a great little program that shuts down unneeded background programs with a single click of a button, and turns them all back on in one click as well. I use it on my backup computer when I'm doing any kind of gaming, and it makes a huge difference.
The new video card I'm putting in will be an nVidia card...will that cause any problems using an AMD utility like this one?

  7. Intriguing...perhaps I've found a use for one of those character slots I bought at 50% off after all...

Also, bought and earned respecs don't affect and aren't affected by getting freespecs either. If you've bought and earned respecs, they won't stop you from getting a freespec (if you don't already have one previously), and they won't take the bought and earned respecs away. Once you have them, you have them. Freespecs don't stack because the system they've historically used to grant them doesn't handle that, and the intention is to correct build issues caused by changes they've made to the game. If you have a freespec that hasn't been used, then you apparently don't have any issues from the changes from before.
It should be noted for completeness that the respec "bought" during the winter event for 500 candy canes counts as a freespec, not an earned respec. Obligatory Wiki Link

I figured as much on the video card - that's getting replaced...is there anything in the Hijack This log I should be worried about?

    Need to tweak

I am actually using iTunes...it's my audio-stream player of choice...though if someone could recommend one equally good, I'll consider it...

As for AVG - mostly laziness on my part for not swapping it out, I'll definitely try Avast! once I get some time

However, I doubt either of these would cause my frame-rates to plummet when I try to turn the graphics up over the very meager settings you see above...any other ideas out there?

    Need to tweak

Hey everybody - I've seen a lot of others do something similar, so I thought I'd do the same - my computer runs the game "OK" - it should be able to do more, and I need help finding the bottlenecks preventing that from happening - so if anyone spots something in the logfiles below that could help me make my dream of Ultra Mode a reality, please let me know!

  13. Thank you all for your suggestions - the character in question just hit 35, and I haven't gotten tired of playing her, so...there's a decent chance this build or something similar may actually be in use soon. Wish me luck!

Others appear to believe this is not the cause of the issue, however I am not so sure - when the team leadership changes, does the game reset the damage counter, in-effect counting each of those shifts as a brand new team? if so, that could explain it, if the last interation of said team did not clear 10% of total damage

Probably not what you were hoping for, but...these get slotted on every MM I make
  16. The best way to ask this question would be to post times that you play, preferably converted to Eastern US (EST) or Western US (PST) time and find a group that also plays at those times.

(hint: PST is GMT-8, EST is GMT-5, Britain is GMT, Central europe is GMT+1)

I might know some people myself, but I don't know if you play in Europe in the mornings, evenings, etc. - more info please!
  17. Hey there!

    Why am I posting?

I'm building a toon around this powerset mainly for concept, but the thought occurs to me: why can I have my cake (a good RP toon) and eat it too (go dominating PvE content with it). I'm not (very) new to the game, but I've never *quite* been able to wrap my head around putting a build together from scratch, so I come to the forums, hat in hand, begging for wisdom

What I want to do with it?

Ideally, I'd like a balanced toon able to "do it all" - able to solo when the need arises, but also equablly able to contribute to a team when the opportunity presents itself. Most imprtantly, I'd like to be non-squishy...faceplanting neither fits the concept nor my playstyle, and is therefore to be avoided at all costs

What do I want to spend?

My budget isn't an issue - I have a ton of A-merits, Emp Merits, and Astral Merits built up on another character, and the market doesn't frighten me (you'd think it would, with my not being able to put together a build all that well, but I guess I get the whole buying and selling thing *shrug*)

So feel free to put in all the PvP IO's, Purples, Kin Combats, Etc. that you think I need - if I can't afford it right away, I'll put in a placeholder until I can

What am I offerring as a carrot to the person(s) willing to help?

My undying gratitude and eternal loyalty, mostly...though if you want to meet a cool group of people to play with redside on Virtue, I can hook you up

    What is my favorite color?

I'm fond of reds, mostly, but there's a special place in my heart for just the right shade of mauve.

That's about all the necessary and not-so-necessary information I could think to include - I look forward to seeing all the helpful suggestions that our knowledgeable and helpful forum-going community can provide. (was that enough butter? if not I can add more...or cheese, if not cheezy enough)
  18. I wouldn't mind meeting a few fellow late-nighters myself - I get home from work about 1am PST and stay on till 4am most nights...and I run a VG...send me a message in-game or here, we'll chat

While I wouldn't expect them to fix the bit where 10% of damage has to come from your team, I *WOULD* expect them to fix the random league shuffling at some point...at least, I can plead for it to make it's way up the priority list, right?
  20. Any plans to update this for I21? (i.e. no need for travel power prerequisites, travel powers at lvl 4, Etc.)

    Alignment Merits

mea culpa - thanks for the correction

It never fails to amaze me that the most consistent way to get or confirm correct information on these forums is to post something incorrect.
