Because that WILL be the real test of mettle and pretty much the last shot.

As for "smaller Trials," I might be tempted to run them IF I had a reason to play my 50s to begin with, and that reason would be something I can do by myself. It'll be a cold day in hell before I will ever consider logging a character in with my only prospect being to sit on my hands and wait for a Something Team to form and pick me up, and over my dead body will I be forced to herd cats and form my own. I've only ever left this game once - back in September of 2004, and feeling an obligation to deal with teams on a constant basis is pretty much the reason for it.

Smaller Trials are a great aside from solo play, which can indeed become a grind and a chore at times. As long as I don't have to run Trials, all Trials and nothing but Trials - i.e. as long as I have an alternative - then sure, I'll run them. The smaller the better. It's not a question of speed. It's a question of people's attitude. About five people and over is a crowd, and people in a crowd turn into clowns. Four and below (ideally, three and below) really isn't so much of a crowd, and it allows people to regard each other as individuals, rather than as a faceless mob.

Yeah, ONE of the selling points. It isnt the only selling point, no one is made to do incarnate stuff, as a VIP. The question of if we should have the Trials is also a bit of a moot point, since clearly..we DO have them, and the devs are not going to just take them away, because some people dont like them. I also agree that they are rather grindy, but the devs are hardly saying put up or shut up, since we keep getting more and varied trials (which helps with the grind) and a 'proper' solo path soon.

So..you NEED a reason to play 50s? They ding 50, and suddenly all that fun you had 1-49..vanishes? Did you solo every toon 1-49 too? Crazy, making you WAIT for trial teams to form..they should somehow have a collection of Bots, that can fill in places? EVERYTHING you do in the game that is not solo, will take some amount of time to form.

And what a typical attitude..you dont want to wait to have one form, seemingly just for you, yet wont even deign to start one? It is a WONDER any trials ever get started at all!

Not sure where this magical obligation to team comes from. I know plenty of people who just like to solo, and they wont complain about not being able to do any team content. It is the reverse of the team player saying they will NEVER solo. And you know what those people do..? They simply dont solo! Saying something doesnt work just cause you personally do not enjoy it, is hardly helpful.

Five people is your magic team size? Then please, tell me HOW any of the stf/rsf/itf/lg TFs EVER get run? Do all these form with 8, including 3 fillers, then have them quit, just to confirm to your rule of 5? Ideal is 3 and below..leaving people the option of doing..well..Posi, Posi, and..Posi? Genius!

If a team of 8 is not personal enough for you..Do you join a team and ASK everyone on it their names, their location, what they enjoy, as soon as you can? If you dont, well, I really do not think you are being personal enough either. In case you have not noticed..this is an MMO. If you want personal while playing computer games, try a LAN with a few mates in the same room. Or, if that still isnt personal enough, maybe consider leaving the computer and going out to see people face to face..you know..in person?

To actually offer MY opinion..I think Trials with 8 or less will be a bad thing, seeing the death of the big leagues. And some people actually ENJOY these. If you can get the same rewards for doing an 8 man incarnate trial, as a 24, who is gonna bother forming the 24? (and yes Sam, please dont point out how I am now talking of the wait times, I already said they happen) Right now we have..solo, small teams, big teams (8 man tfs) and Leagues. 4 quite different and varied options. Giving us 8 man trials will damage leagues and be too similar to single team TFs.
  2. I am not trying to insult you at all! Ok, perhaps a teensy bit. lol. But still..saying that you take anyone and everyone for stf's (which I agree is a GOOD thing, to let everyone experience the content) and then find X bit of the tf 'hard' when you could have removed or lessened that with a better team..

The very fact you CAN do that with stf, when not long ago, an RSF would basically work with only two types of team builds. Not so much the case now though.

If anything, it comes down to maths. 4 avs with 8% chance to hit you. Or 8 heroes, with 8% chance to hit you. Doesnt matter what happens..the 8 will hit you more.
  3. I do agree Street Justice is just flat out awesome..but it doesnt totally make ss and ma suddenly crap. Of course, when you view them together, yes, the others look a bit old and dated..but you can say that about almost any 'older' set, when compared to a newer one.

I still love KO blow, both animations, and footstomp. A few of the punches are..samey..but there isnt a lot to do with single punches. Likewise with MA..eagles claw still is the best way to crit kill a boss..boot to the face! Dragons tail is sexy, and some of the alt punches too. The worst was/is the kick fro Crippling Axe, that looks like you break your own leg in 5 spots using it.

Also..StJ does not make a difference to the actual performance of either set. Both are good, and can be great.

Alternate and updated animations for all sets would be grand..but not very realistic. New sets are always (mostly) going to look cooler.

On my inv/ax, i find that the RSF is much easier. Let's break it down:

End of RSF: One fight. States gets his fist pump thingy that I frankly don't even know what it does. Numina buffs the rest, so she dies first. Psyche does heavy psi damage, so I always call her next. The rest are just vanilla S/L/E/N, as far as I can tell. Synapse might have some end drain, as I recall, Manticore has a big lethal AOE that doesn't go off very often, not one of them has any special mechanic that I've ever noticed.

That's pretty much it, and they're only level 53.

End of STF: Three fights if you're fast.

First fight is 4 patrons, two of which get very nasty specials. Ghost Widow has the insta-gib spinny hold of doom, which can ice-pick any single toon it hits, and a BIG self-heal that works off a cone. Scirocco has the AOE pets and nuke from hell, which can team wipe your squishies before you can even turn around. Black Scorpion is a bag of hitpoints, and Mako is a fast bag of hitpoints, except he placates and is thus hard to keep pointed a safe direction. Given they're all 54, this by itself is at least as hard if not harder then the 8 hero's, just due to the cheater mechanics.

Second fight: 1 Giant monster and three spawns. Trivial, except that the darn monster respawns.

Third fight: 5 AV's, 4 special and one OMG. The Towers are passive buffing defenders, which have a potent self healing/rez mechanism that triggers at half health. The repairmen can and will rez multiple towers, too. While you're beating at least a couple of these, the massively buffed LR is hammering away at your back unless you off tank him. Then you have a hugely buffed 54 AV with cheater mechanics on top of his cheater mechanics. The channel gun is just evil, and as far as I know, he's the only critter in the game that can resist taunts.

So, we're looking at 8 pretty conventional level 53's in a big old furball, versus 8 level 54 av's with cheaters galore, a GM, and hordes of bad guys you can take in three bites.

    Yeah....STF is waaaaay harder. Sorry.

It's a testament to how good we are at it that it seems simple these days.
    Just to nitpick a bit..
You know the reason WHY the rsf Heroes are lvl 53? Because they were 54, and 8 lvl 54s was viewed as..you guessed it..a lil to hard for a lot of teams. (granted, that isnt as much the case now, with lvl shifts. )
Four AVs at the end of STF? Wow, a whole four! Please, tell me how being able to fight one at a time, compares to 8 at a time? Dont forget, you can pull one av nearly every single time..try doing that on rsf.

Also..you do realise that your 'making' rsf sound easier than it is? 'Oh yeah Im an invul tank, its all just vanilla damage!' Good for you. When RSF hit, you couldn't use a tank.
I can use the same arguments for your points. Scir has an aoe nuke that wipes squishes? Then WHAT are the idiots doing in range? GW's soul storm is hardly insta gib, its at LEAST 2 tics, to kill any AT. Are you saying you started an stf without a single target healer, who can top someone up while the dot goes off?

Oh thats right..you just MADE the tf harder, by taking a silly team mix. That is like the OP dying on his SR tank..sure, hardly his fault, but if you try tank 8 heroes with no resists, that is the outcome.

Let's move on to the towers. If the team is really having that much trouble with them, I gotta ask..wtf are you all doing? Considering teams could do it perfectly ok with SOs.. And yes..I will admit he is a hugely buffed AV...that you CAN fly over and basically remove any damage. Really tricky stuff!

I get YOU think stf is harder..and again, it goes back to what I said about most STF teams having no idea at all of what a good team for it, is.

(You might also remember, when RSF first went LIVE..teh dev team actually could NOT finish it..and offered a years free time to whoever could. I don't recall that with STF. Given that now we have IOs, incarnates, side swapping, it means you can take the SAME team on both tfs..so given that RSF was clearly harder in the first place..logically, its still harder now.)
  5. Was just arguing about this with a friend. If you look at stf vs rsf, in a bubble..rsf IS harder. The fact people still fail stf (and my friend said shes failed more) is more due to people being idiots and having NO idea of the type of team make up a smooth STF actually NEEDS. That and stupid people wanting to take out towers in the wrong order.

And how can you even compare the final fights? 8 Heroes, which you cant split up, and buff each other...vs ONE av that you can 'tank' with a jetpack?? Such an epic fight that.
  6. MisterD

    Where is Caleb?

Everyone I have talked to has a slightly different method for doing it, that is '100% works every time man!!' Then, when you ask them to do it, shock horror, it NEVER works. I have seen him 3 times in 5 years, all accidently findings. The times I have tried to spawn him, never works.

If the GMs are quoting wiki at you (as they LOVE to do) they are just as clueless. It is funny when Ghost of Scrap can spawn back to back, all day long, yet others just never show.

Just remembered...this reminds me of the Archnos Flier GM, that was 'meant' to spawn in GV. Yet it never did. And yet, GMs would still claim you just had to wait for it. Then, someone finally realised it was broken, and fixed it. Would not shock me if Caleb was the same way.
  7. From the brute corner...I used to tank the FP on a dark armour brute, before IOs, and after then (before incarnates). Sure, the teams were usually Brute and 4-7 corrs, but quite a few times we had less support than your run did.

None of this pansy mind dom sleep runs either..herd them all to the boot and go to town.

Once we did an all VEAT rsf, with around..150? % def to all. And we STILL got hit. Doesnt matter how good your def is, 8 Heroes, WILL hit you. Using oranges does help, but a pure defence set like SR is going to get hurt.

Shame that you guys didn't manage it. Also brings up the huge imbalance between RSF and STF. I have said this so many times, but rsf is a heap harder. Even before incarnates, stf teams could pretty much work with anything, while rsf was limited to stone brute/corrs and mind dom runs. And lets not mention stf only ever has, at most, FOUR avs at once..compared to 4,5 and 8! Oh wait..how about the fact you can split them up on stf, yet rsf is almost impossible (have seen it down twice) to pull single heroes off. And what about the BS requirement of a finished patron arc, before you can even start an rsf in the first place? Anyway..rant done!
  8. They are all really cool...besides the one we have for THE GAME BACKGROUND! Seriously, who picked the states vs minion as the winner here? I know there was a big thread about it before Freedom went live. How about a way for us to select which game background we want?
  9. Great minds think alike. And well..it IS stupid.
  10. All of the old, non incarnate MO badges..you can also get in ONE run. One run, no deaths, boom, all happy. But now with the new requirements, you pretty much can NOT get them in one one, if only due to the fact that the 15/23 other players on the league just want to get it over with.

Lambda is just utterly stupid and has 3 badges for doing variations on the one thing! UG is made that much longer with the bombs, and I cant speak for anyone else, but the last fight is so hectic I have never even SEEN one of those seed things.

Don't forget MoM where is order to get the Dreamwalker badge..you HAVE to farm it. No questions of getting that in a single one..great way to force people to repeat content.

To echo others..if you can't get MO badges in one or two (well run teams obviously) runs, without making people jump through hoops doing things you would NEVER do in a 'normal' team..the badges should be changed.

I reserve a special hatred for deathless badges in Trials. Assuming that no one out of 24 people ever lags enough to die is just idiotic. And its not like say..a MO stf where its easier to keep track of people to help them out. The Midnight Dodger on Tin Mage is also total rubbish. I have this badge on..4? toons. And each time..we were NOT even going for it. Having a badge that basically comes down to how much the RNG is hating on you, is just crap.

Either that or giving tanks inherent resistance to otherwise "unresistable" attacks making them more desirable and somewhat alleviating how favored Brutes are for high end content.

Overall though, I really do like the trials. I think they're fast paced and fun and the structures are much more interesting than everything else in the game. I would much rather do an Incarnate trial with engaging mechanics than do a task force that required me to "go to mission, defeat boss, find glowie, defeat 10 enemies, repeat" for an hour or more.
One thing I noticed on MoM the other day...was playing my dark armour scrapper. During teh Penny storm mission, I looked at my combat logs to see..

You take XXX resistable psionic damage from XXX
You take XXX defensible psionic damage from XXX
You take XXX annihlation damage from XXX

I would assume that the damage, from that bit at least, is further broken down into portions we can resist, dodge, or will always hit and do full damage. Also noticed I could stand in teh purple patches longer on a DA.
  12. Oro portals. Especially before the tram/ferry changes. Being able to get to a 'safe' zone, from any location, buy and sell stuff, then go to any of the common transport hubs. Take it for granted now, but when it was new, it made a massive difference to getting about, especially for tfs.
Add in the ability to flashback and get a lot of badges, like accolade ones. Don't forget a way to instantly get to areas on zones that the transport/bases dont go to, Such as being able to start a flashback for the Cim arcs, and get there instantly.

Spiritual does buff rebirth..but gives some odd numbers. Testing it now.
Following is my regen, hp/sec, on my scrapper, with nothing going but Rebirth, with my alpha unslotted. Tics of 15.01

    31..101..57..48..39..31

Slotting the t4 Spir gives.. tics of 20.31

    34..113..63..53..43..34

The first period of Rebirth gives 3 tics of XX regen, decaying down over time. So the first instance, with the aplha slotted, SHOULD be 15 hp per sec more than without, since it is 3x5 greater. However, looking at those values, it is only 12 greater.
  14. I totally agree it is inflating the market for those IOs Talen but...your argument is..stop farming, and play the market?? So..stop actually DOING things in 'game', neglecting the fact that powers will just be on auto fire or whatever, and instead, stand still and play the market?

Tell me..if the farmers stop farming..where are the market players going to FIND those IOs listed? Because it wont be on the market(Nevermind that a lot of the big money pvp IOs get sold off market, because its a rip off).

I don't really like farming. I don't really like people playing the market. It all comes down to (I think) which hurts other people? The farmers, who spend their own time getting IOs, to use or sell...or those market hacks who go and buy up all the type of a common salvage, just to fleece other PLAYERS so they can feel all happy about making money? (instead of, ya know, playing the game and earning the rewards)
  15. Again..sorry to the OP..but some things are just too silly not to comment on.

News just in...'20 Billion Warshade solos a cyst!' Singing, cheering is the streets. So, you can solo something, in a pug team (I assume you can also do it alone, but since we are talking a team setting). Do you know how many cysts would be in that pug team, if you werent on it? Go on, guess. It is a number between zero, and zero.

And you also now mention a tank being as 'useful' as your WS on a team. Keyword, useful. It went for your magic WS making they other 7 people 'not contribute anything at all' to you being..useful. Uh huh.

So your WS has NO use for anything? Mmmm what about an enemy that has capped negative energy res? Could you use some -res debuffs to kill it faster? No, of course you can't..because you dont see anyone else as offering anything at all.

Still didn't answer the question about the kin/sonic/tank with 20 billion builds either..

Your ws is THAT good, all the time? Ok then, go do an oro flashback, a cot arc (all those -to hit debuffs and negative resistant mobs) at +4 and 8, with you at level 10. Remember, you said..you are that good ALL the time. (note, I am in no way saying other builds CAN do this..but you clearly can).

Just curious..I assume your build is great, considering the cost and that you can solo an AV. So, tell me..why can't say..a scrapper, have just as expensive build, and do exactly that, but easier..since they dont NEED dead bodies to heal, make pets, or huge mobs to buff their damage and res? Oh wait wait, I know the answer to this! THEY CAN!

Oh and..I will take your bet. Did you forget the claim?
'My Warshade solos Cysts in his sleep'
I want to see you using rest in front of a cyst, and kill it. Come on, must have done it before to make that statement.
  16. Just to beat that dead horse a few more times...I agree that pvp io farming isnt good..but, will teh devs care? A big fat NO.

Actually, I totally should not claim they dont care about farming. When it suits them. Look at the +45 content hero side. Unai has about..10 missions that are good farms, with a mix of baddie types to suit any 'farmer.' How many does redside have? The 2 tv farms, with any veng stacking Nems, or the boat scientist farm..with a ton of mez and debuffs.

To further talk about blue vs red...anyone recall the snake egg farm? Sure, took awhile, but it got nerfed. What about the barracuda 'farm' doing the arc from Divined Maros? The ability to kill a lvl 25-21 AV over and over..until the mission holder outlvls it (this was back before we could set to +4). And this got nerfed to. Because..we all know, the devs are SO strict on farming.

Well..until the genius who redid Marias arc, thought it would be a GREAT idea to give people a pet Hero class npc that can one shot mobs with FS. But hey..no one would ever farm that??

Given the above examples, I can almost be shocked that Marty does not only work redside.
  17. Wow, you need to spend 20 billion to make a 'good' warshade?! Awesome!
Did you ever consider that maybe the kin/sonic/tank ALSO spent 20 billion..and WONT die? I guess not.
And if you are first to a spawn, first time, every time, that just means your not helping to finish mobs off. Or maybe..others arent first cause they are using TEAM buffs? You know..contributing?
A khled is the ONLY AT in the game, that can make a mission harder, just by being there. That's right, adding a boss/lt/minion or cyst. Does not matter how much longer it takes said team to kill it..its more time, therefore that much harder.
Seriously, get over your love fest with your khled.

(Oh and clearly you NEVER have actually teamed with a kin..or you would know, even if the kin dies..everyone STILL has capped damage for 30 secs..good argument though!)

And also, apoligies to the OP, but seriously, someone needs to stop inviting a bunch of lvl 1 AE babies so he can show of his 20 billion toon and feel like he is doing it all.
  18. Make a Scrapper. Go forth, kill stuff, enjoy.

edit: I have been known to there doing nothing to let death aura kill them.
This is a problem I see. I have been playing a TW brute and feel this issue is about teh only thing holding back the set. Look at every other melee (and ranged) damage set..and they ALL have a fast-ish attack, single target, that you can easily use to take out that last guy on 5 hp in a mob. Obviously you dont want to use your heavy hitters and aoes on him.

But..with TW, doing that is IMPOSSIBLE without momentum. No attack you have can be called fast. Note I am not counting using brawl/box..that isnt part of the set. I read somewhere that epic blasts will cause redraw, so you cant do that either.

The choice becomes...using a slooow non-MO attack to kill that bad guy, then having MO, while you bolt to the next spawn, usually to find MO is gone and you have to build it up all over again.

I think the set needs a new attack...like a Shove, where you just shirt front the target with your weapon held across your chest. SImple, fast, low damage. BUT..it is always fast, always. The trade off is that is doesnt grant Momentum, ever. That way, you could use it on the almost dead minion, quickly finishing him off (and for low end usage too) and then amble over to the next spawn to smash it.

    Revamping NPCs

    Good ideas.
Keep Miss Lib as MA though, I think it suits her 'honor?' maybe, to be a martial artist, not a street fighter.
BaB's as Street Justice for sure.
    Battle Maiden with Titan Weapons.
    Maybe give Duray beam rifle.
Update Citadel from being em/invul to em/energy aura
FIX Valkyries WoG (Week of glory, that still has NO psi hole)
Oh and the big one..make Johnny Sonata in the SSA a damn SONIC. Seriously..do they not even read their own background?
  22. This is a fun bug! But if you get annoyed, angry, frustrated, remember..the issue is NOW listed on the Known Issues page! If that does not give you a warm and fuzzy glow, I don't know what will.
(above looks better with the Sarcasm font on)
  23. Talking about going vigilante with Miss Lib...by the time I got to part 4 on a villain, I just felt like killin Malaise myself, saving Sister and handing Darrin back over to the Midnighters.

Darrin is dodgy as hell, as there is at least..4? Boss class Midnight members left. They somehow can't find some guy who, according to the arcs, has no super powers and just sells stuff? Not to mention, you help him out in his own story arc, where he talks about wanting to summon Ruluruu. What villain is going to think THAT is a good idea? Oh yeah, maybe this super powerful god of ANGER will feel generous and grant me power..while killing everyone else.

I think it would be cool if you could swap the arc alignment (not the toons) mid mission, and side with the heroes, or villains.
  24. Could it be because his toon was a pure villain and they are not 'meant' to be able to get the badge? Mine was a rogue, so progress on the badge was started during Marias arc.
  25. Saves me making a thread about this.
I just ran Keyes for the first time (on that toon, not me) on my rogue kin corr, who has helped various friends with Maria's AV arc. When we killed AM at thw end..I GOT the Dimensional Warder badge. So the kill must have counted as progress.

It would seem this is a bug? Or not WAI? If as the OP says, doing MoM gives no progress...how does this make sense? Either all trials with prae AVs should be counting, or they shouldn't.
