And we already have a beacon to Pocket D, and I think you only need one badge to get it.

AFAIK, there hasn't been any "official" word saying there won't be any more booster packs than 5 that match up with the origins, but we do know there will be at least five.
Considering their popularity, I'd say that there will eventually be more; after all, the boosters are a money maker, and if it's working to pull in profit, there's no good reason to stop. -

This is the updated roster for tonight. -
Let's try to push it back til 9 then. It'll give me a chance to get some caffeine into my system so that I'm hopefully able to actually function.

I may be a little bit late for this tomorrow night, as we have a previous family commitment, but I should be there regardless. As always, if I'm more than half an hour late, you may as well start without me. >.> -
If it's at the mentor's discretion whether they give gifts to their proselytes or not, then the other mentors/advocate should stay out of it.

The Candy Man - Sammy Davis Jr.
Oh I could throw you in the lake or feed you poison birthday cake
I won't deny I'm gonna miss you when you're gone
Oh I could bury you alive but you might crawl out with a knife
And kill me when I'm sleeping, that's why... -
Tomorrow night we will be doing the LGTF. Please meet up in RWZ by Lady Grey if you signed up; if you signed up and will be unable to make it, please let me know!

I would say no to powerleveling, and keep them out of farms until they reach a high enough level that it wouldn't be PLing and that they already have an understanding of the rest of the game.
There's no reason to farm before the high 40's/level 50 anyhow, unless you're actively working on IOing a build with some of the more expensive stuff, which is not an absolute necessity in this game. -
I like the ideas that Panzerwaffen posted.
Are mentors going to be bringing their 50s into this group or creating a new too0n to play up through the levels with their newbies or what? I don't want to shift any of the toons I already have in the Teamsters, but I would very much like to mentor, and I know this is a concern for others as well (as Demon Shell mentioned). -
So the people in the Commander position (mentors) would be the actual SG leadership? I could see how that would work, but again, they should be either volunteers or people agreed on by the rest of the group (or both). Actually, everyone's a volunteer in this, so I guess that part's a nonissue, but to clarify, I mean people who are specifically volunteering for the mentor program but who are willing to also take on a leadership role.
-
To be clear, I'm not suggesting that Stalemate would not be perfect for the role, as he is extremely active in and familiar with the Protector community. However, this is an extremely ambitious project, and will probably require massive amounts of time and effort to coordinate-at least as much as running a successful supergroup; possibly more. My concern is that it may be the straw that breaks the camel's back, as it were.
Maybe if the leadership duties could be split up? There are six ranks in a SG, so maybe something like:
Leader: Stalemate (or whoever)
Commander: Leader's appointed assistants
General: Mentors w/over 1 year of vet rewards
Captain: Mentors w/under 1 year of vet rewards
Lieutenant: General's newbies
Member: Captain's newbies
I'm not saying that number of vet rewards is any kind of good measure for how well someone knows/plays the game; I'm only using it as an example for how the lower four ranks could be filled. We've all met six month vets who knew exactly what they were doing and 54 month vets without a clue. Also, a system where the Leader position has good backup that they trust means that if something did happen (something comes up in RL, for example) there would be people who knew what was going on who could take over if necessary.
Of course, that's just my humble opinion. Since this thread was started for discussion, though, we might as well discuss. -
Stale's got other stuff on his plate, though, like NPWN and I think PERC. Wouldn't want to overload him and burn him out-I've been there and done that and it is not fun.

What willli1 said sounds great, but whoever takes the SL position should be someone that everyone else votes into it (or something).
-
I'm willing to offer the Teamsters as a coalition to any new group that might arise out of this, as well as volunteer my services as a mentor, and I will bring this to the attention of the other Teamsters as well. Anything that increases player involvement in the community has my vote, as always.
I would like to see us do some kind of get-together to figure this out-maybe get a bunch of people (mentors and newbies) on lowbie toons and then draw lots for sewer runs, 4 vets and 4 newbies on each. Vets and their newbies can pair off that way, and leave and go about their business once they've paired off. If everyone's not paired off by the end of a sewer run, then have smaller groups combine and run radios in KR.
I would also like to suggest that, at least at first, the newbie enter the mentor's super group, for the sake of making other contacts within the game who can help them and for assets such as coalitions, telepads, storage, etc. This can also allow newbies who would be interested space to practice base editing in. newbies would be free to leave at any time, of course.
Maybe at some point, some of the newbies will feel confident enough to take on their own newbies, and become mentors. I won't say it will happen 100% of the time, but I know that it can happen.
I do think that we need to have some kind of neutral party in case any kind of weird problem arises between a newbie and their mentor, in which the newbie does not feel comfortable expressing their discomfort to the mentor for any reason. This would give the newbie someone to express their concerns to, and the neutral party would be able to advise them on how to proceed (if it's considered normal behavior, if they need to petition it, find a new mentor, etc.) and if necessary let the mentor know in a non-combative way that there was a concern.
Just a few ideas, they may or may not make much sense. My brain is still scrambled from errands. -
A good way to do it would be to have some kind of gathering where newbies and mentors could mingle, and then when two players have come to an agreement, they could let Stale know. I wouldn't want to be assigned someone at random that I might or might not actually get along with, and I'm sure others feel the same.

If you wanna make it really open to everyone, advertise it in Player Events and have people PM you their global names, then draw one out of a hat.
-
Definitely post it in Player Events, and for something this...hmmm...unprecedented, maybe see if you can get it on the updater as well?
I'll also volunteer KJSR.net to advertise it and if I were you I'd contact other City of internet radio stations, as I'm sure they'd love to be involved! -
Yeah, if anyone else wants to run/rerun any TFs in this timeslot, definitely hijack the event for this week.
*cough*BB*cough*

You look like you're about to pour the Oxi-Clean into your glass and drink it.
Am I the only one who sees this? >.> -
There won't be a TfT this week as per my post in the other thread. Sorry to disappoint.
-
If I remember correctly, when you purchase a code online, you need to go to your main NCSoft account (the master account) and apply the serial code to your account, and then you can play. You can get to your main account here. Hope that helps!
-
Sorry to hear that, Smite. Good luck and stay in touch!
Also, sorry guys, but I'ma have to cancel this week's TfT due to RL.We have stuff to do on Tuesday and don't know when we'll be getting home, and it may be late at night. Sorry! The LGTF will be NEXT Tuesday.
