Then look out for that symbol (
) on any site you may post on. That's pretty much the universal symbol for "add hyperlink" in any kind of WYSIWYG (What You See Is What You Get) HTML editor, just like
that one means "add image."

Quote:Yes, it's the same with a credit card. When a purchase is made with a credit card, the store pays a fee/percentage as part of the deal with credit card companies. The consumer doesn't see this fee in the charges, but that doesn't mean the store didn't alter all of its prices when they decided to accept credit cards in the first place in order to balance it out. When NCSoft set the fees for CoH, they would have taken those percentages into account.Indeed, PayPal has been skimming money off payments made for as long as it has existed. It's part of the business model.
In the US if you go into a store and ask "debit or credit" and you reply with "it doesn't matter" or "whichever is easier," they will nearly always pick debit because debit cards don't charge the fee. (If they pick credit, it's likely an employee training issue.) -
I do agree. I think saying "Thank you" or a message saying, "Hey, I really appreciated your help/time/effot/link to www/etc is recognition enough and, for me, will often count more than a poll or contest.

I recall reading or hearing that the idea was that Masterminds were closer to Tanks than were Brutes. I know when I came across this information is was passed along as if one of the Devs said it somewhere. Does that sound familiar to anyone else? It was a long time ago.

I pasted the HTML code into Notepad, saved it as an .html file, opened the HTML file and copied and pasted the text into Word. I pasted the Word text here. A workaround - I'm sure Mid's has an easier way, but I don't have it on this system.

I have an Empathy/Energy Defender and may also try a solo build. Even with my team build I was able to solo effectively, but very slowly - especially against anything with status effects. I mostly carried around a tray full of break frees.
You may want to choose Stamina and level 20 and then Recovery Aura at 22. Stamina is always on and RA's recharge is long. Doing a lot of blasting, you may find yourself so low on end you need to pop a blue inspiration just to even fire RA. I used to have to do that when I was a low level Emp without Stamina.
I don't know much about Sonic, so I'll let someone else comment on that.Good luck! No reason an Emp can't solo and the ability to have a dual build will make it much easier and faster.

That's the best place to start. Friend anyone you enjoyed and look for the person again. Note if he or she is in an SG, because that means the person may know others you can get to know. You don't have to give up your own SG. You may be able to form a coalition with another group or see if they have a global channel you can join. You could also make an alt to join their group and team with them.
If you're just joining PuGs, you may want to start joining some small TF groups or hang out around some TF contacts and look for groups who have the same or similar SG names. That might help you find an active group. You can also go to your server forum and post something about looking to find active players to team with. Definitely join server channels.
This game offers so many ways for people to connect, even across servers. If you really can't find anyone, you're not using all your resources to their best advantage. If you're not sure what those resources are, go visit the Freedom forum and ask about global channels to join to get on teams, ask for some names of the active SGs with friendly reputations, etc. -
Quote:Wow... P_P got all... deep and stuff. You can't find what you used to have.
You can only create something new, and it will no matter what be different than what you had before.
She's right, you won't get the exact same thing you had before. But you can create something different and maybe as good. The key words there being "you" and "create." You'll have to put in an effort to build a base of people you enjoy playing with. Start small and build. And as others have said, if you feel you have been unsuccessful with the pool you have, you may want to try a new server.
You can even try viewing some other server forums and looking for players you think you might enjoy teaming with and asking them if you can join them. (Note: I'm not suggesting anyone get all stalkery here.) Check out links to SG forums and see if there's any group you feel like you'd fit in with and apply for the group. Join server-specific global channels to find new teammates and get connected to the community. There are loads of groups and players out there. It's up to you to go out and find the one(s) you want to spend your time with. -
Quote:The link didn't quite work. Try: http://paragonwiki.com/wiki/Target_c...Slash_Command) For some reason, the URL command is putting the last ")" after the close url tag and I had to adjust it manually. You can try working this:
http://paragonwiki.com/wiki/Target_c...(Slash_Command)
You can have it find partial names, which is the best for an easy "Find boss" method that there is.
Note the ability to add the "alive" parameter in there. It's a good one to include (read examples at bottom of Wiki page for proper formatting). With the Void bind I've been using, I left it off and the target next key will continue to target the dead void until it fades away. Not helpful when things are still trying to kill you. -
Quote:Sure you can. But if you want that, be prepared to come with info. Red Gren suggested Bucca, got a general agreement by people interested, then backed it up by obtaining and passing along all the information and volunteering to make all the arrangements.Might I suggest we three different restaurant options varying on price?
Remember, this is an event where it's likely 30-50 or more people will show up; it's not the same as arranging a night out with a few friends. Coordinating this kind of thing to go off without a hitch takes a large amount of time and effort. It's to Red Gren's immense credit he makes it sound so very easy. It's a job people get paid very well to do and he's doing it all just because he really wants to have a great time and make sure everyone else does, too. What Red pulled off last year was Absolutely Amazing and I can't express enough appreciation for Red and others who are putting both the official and unofficial Hero Con events together for us.
If you want to throw out different suggestions, I think we're open to that, but it means you're going to need to be very specific and provide names and details, just as Red has. Again, while this is friends getting together, it's not just a few people. It may seem informal, but many formal arrangements have to be made. This job requires all the effort of an Event Coordinator. Once someone starts, if you want to make changes, it's not something you can do easily or at the last minute. And in terms of events, the last minute is not the same as the last minute of a few friends. When making arrangements to bring a group of 50 people to any one restaurant, the plans need to be made months in advance.
Remember also that Red is concerned about how many people may feel unable to participate because of cost. If that number of people is big enough, we may need to change plans. If it's small, then consider that maybe you can't find one person to cover your whole dinner, but maybe you can find several friends willing to pitch in and help you out. People who may not be able to cover an entire extra meal may be able to kick in $5 for someone else. -
Quote:Well, yeah, based on the title you really should have known. One in particular stood out, "The Top Ten Games of 2012." After reading through a bit, I realized I should have known it would be one of those silly articles that tries to predict things
Quote:Anyway, #9 stood out to me. "#9: A Superhero Based Game (DC, Marvel, or Champions)" Ouch, not even a mention of City of Heroes? Is the game that "doomed" to a game journalist's eyes? I know 2012 is a ways off, but considering the longevity of CoX, it seems a tad harsh.
WoW is also on that list simply because it's unstoppable. I have no idea why, either. I played it and it's fun when it's not super frustrating. But I can see nothing about it that explains the wild success it's seen. But at this point I think the only way it's going to fall off it's bizarre pedestal is if someone at Blizzard accidentally trips over a power cord and knocks all the server racks over like dominoes, then sets them on fire and seals the building with a biohazard mark on the door and the national guard out front. Even that probably wouldn't even stop them for a whole day if they have a solid disaster recovery plan.
With information available today, I think the list creator got it right by not including CoH. That doesn't mean Positron and Co don't have something big up their sleeves, but right now we're not seeing it. -
Quote:While this may sometimes be true, it's likely as often not true. Yes, if a new player does this, the person won't have any real idea how powers interact, how game mechanics work, etc. But just look at the forum reg dates. Many of us have been playing for years. Some of us played around 34o or more days or nights a year for many of those years. Players who already know what they're doing can absolutely get a character to 50 in a very short time and play well. And after that 4 hour instant 50 you end up with a player with no clue how to play.
Granted, I've never played a Tank, so I wouldn't want to do that with a Tank and then join a team and ask them to count on me to be a good Tank. But I could certainly do it with a Defender, Controller, Scrapper, or quite a few others. The various powersets are just not so different that you can't play a few and know how the others work or have picked up lots of information because you've teamed with the other powers before. (I'm pretty sure I'd have a much harder time figuring out HOW to get some characters to 50 than I would actually playing the character. I don't know jack about PLing and wouldn't know where to start.)
Yeah, it can be bad. But I just don't believe that it's always bad for everyone. Many of the people who PL have done it for years because they're tired of the content or because they want to PvP at a high lever. I don't really care if they fill every slot they have on every server and PL themselves silly. That doesn't mean they're bad players by default. -
-
I know people can level quickly, but that doesn't sound right. Any chance this person had an I or an L in the name? If so, I'm guessing it was the same player with two characters with the same name but a different spelling. An "I" and an "L" look identical in the game's default font.

Quote:Doc Buzzsaw has one of my favorite arcs and I hate to miss it. Before they offered Flashback and the ability to turn off XP, I used to take my characters to Bloody Bay and kill Banished Pantheon and CoT there. The zone auto-malefactored me so I wouldn't gain XP and I would get some good magic drops, like Luck Charms, that went for quite a bit at the market. I just made sure to do it on characters I knew could handle some PvP if I got attacked and made sure I was willing to accept the fact that I would be attacked sometimes and would likely lose quite a few of those times.REALLY handy on villains btw, a few contacts cant be done until you earn certain badges,
Doc Buzzsaw springs to mind as the best example as you need the Bling Badge (1,000,000 infamy) before she will offer you anything. Plus if you past level 29, she tells you to naff off. -
Quote:You seriously think everyone is raised with the same morals and beliefs you were? You seriously think kids are offended by swear words? Back in primary school I swore twice as much as I do now.
People have different backgrounds, different belief systems, and come from different cultures. While you don't have to entirely change your own behavior to match what everyone else in the world will find acceptable, being at least aware and sensitive of these difference is important. I swear, say "oh my God, curse up a storm, wear red, show some skin, etc - all things that others may find offensive. I'm certainly not going to radically alter my behavior, but when I'm with people I know are offended by such things, I will tone it down or not do it at all. When I'm in a public place with a lot of children, I avoid swearing as much as possible.
I spent years as a preschool teacher and I sympathize for parents whose child just learned a new curse word and can't wait to shout it out at every passing stranger or blurt it out when grandma comes to call. I learned most of my own curse words from my dad, but his own mother was not impressed when I used them at age 3. -
Quote:Exactly. Sure it's trivial. I don't recall saying it wasn't. People all over the world are dying every single day because they can't afford food, live in war zones, have parents who don't care, or are just plain victims of poverty, violence, or circumstances most of us can never begin to understand. My point is merely that it's a pretty trivial complaint. ...To me, having to scroll past a large signature pic or a bunch of blank space isn't bothersome enough to get upset over. YMMV, of course.
Depending on your perspective, every single thing you or I have to complain about it our lives is trivial, isn't it? And yet, that doesn't make them invalid or unimportant to us.
When I was in the ER last month, the staff kept asking me what my pain was on a scale of 1-10. I was in so much pain I was crying in an Emergency Room, so I kinda figured a lot. But all my limbs were attached. They had a crucifix on the wall and I thought, "Hell, that guy has got to be a 10." I said I was a 7, maybe an 8. Then they gave me the chart with the pictures and, according to the frowny faces, I was much higher on the scale than I thought. Perspective is everything. But just because I didn't have a leg torn off didn't mean it was no big deal. -
Infinity and Justice frequently flip/flop for third place. And yes, Justice does have a good number of Australian players/off hours players. There's a global channel called "Australia" and it caters to both groups of players so they can find teammates and chat.
-
Aren't you paying attention? If this thread weren't still active, where else would people post all these flags?
-
Quote:Totally missing the point. Scrolling is easy. We have to do it all the time. Which is why I get angry when someone makes me do it for no reason whatsoever. It's not scrolling I mind. It's the vast quantity of blank space people include in posts that make me scroll and that add absolutely nothing of value. As with big signatures on 5 word posts, you're making people scroll and not adding any value to the conversation. If that's what people want me to think about their posts, that they add no value to a conversation, just visual hot air, they can add all the space they want.I never realized what torture it is to move one's fingers and hands. Especially for those of us who play video games, the repetitive moving of our upper extremities is tantamount to running a marathon in plate mail in the Amazon.
Number of Ways in Which I Can Scroll My Screen, In Order of Most to Least Effort Needed.
- Spin the mouse wheel with my index finger until I'm where I want to be. Might take many spins if I have to scroll a long distance. Weep with agony if necessary.
- Press the Page Up and/or Page Down keys until I'm where I want to be. Fine tune position with the mouse wheel or the up and down arrow keys if I don't have an active cursor in a text box. Adjust wrist brace as needed.
- Move cursor to the right side of the screen, click and drag the scroll bar, release when done. Click up or down arrows at the top or bottom of the scroll bar for line-by-line scrolling, or use mouse wheel or arrow keys. Curse the precious seconds of my life lost.
- Click mouse wheel, then move cursor above or below the scroll icon that appears. Hold the cursor still when the screen scrolls at a speed I like. Change speeds simply by moving the mouse a little. Click the mouse wheel again to end. Stretch between movements if muscle cramping develops.
There may be other ways as well. - Spin the mouse wheel with my index finger until I'm where I want to be. Might take many spins if I have to scroll a long distance. Weep with agony if necessary.
