i still remember taking down the nemesis AV @+2 with just me and an AR/Dev blaster.

RPD and Tough hide I'd recommend slotting with 3 Dam Res/3xDef. mainly because you'll have a higher cap against lethal and Smashing with RPD and Tough hide negates the -def from unyielding perfectly.
I agree on the Resist elements/Energies, mainly because the levels are so pants it's not worth it. Some recommend trying to get Aid self in there somewhere but I've managed without it. -
Erm, been there, got the 50. They do rock in teams it must be said, but as the debuffs aren't all flashy animations and swirly graphics sometimes they don't get noticed, but they do get noticed when you stop them
-
I think what he means is the animation time is the same regardless of redraw or not. it was discussed and confirmed by a redname on the US boards that the total activation time of a power is the same regardless of redraw or not.

best scrapper experience I had was Citadel TF with 7 scrappers and a controller. halfway through the 1st mission the controller basically said 'I've given up trying to hold anything, they're dead before I can activate the hold'
As soon as we entered the map it was basically a race to the mobs to see who could hit the most council. The map just spread out like a firework as scrappers fanned out through the mab, laying waste to the council as we went. it was almost magical -
I'm here, Miss Chief, created 2 days after launch and was in the beta.
Known alts: Qinetiq, Miss Chief, Cupid's Sister, Boudicea, Lion Rampant, Darkest Knight, Mae Hemme, Anne Teeter, miss Chevious, Union alts Powertek, Angel Terra and Bubbleglum.
Supergroup: Forgotten Warriors/Warriors Forgotten and Fallen Femmes
vet Reward tbh not sure, only been unsubbed for about 1 month total.
Doing now? Waiting for halo 3 tomorrow (PAY DAY!) and that's about it really. XBox 360 on Rainbow 6 Vegas Realistic terrorist hunt trying to clear all the maps and Lego Star Wars II. oh yeah, sometimes dabble into the CoD4 MP beta. -
IMO ID is something you should take, but it's not something you should be giving out as much as Sb. I have it and it's basically useful as a mez removal (except sleep) and that's about it. it's duration isn't long enough to make it worths lotting with dam res IMO. It can be handy for KB heavy AV's like Diabolique and Shadowhunter as well as it's anti-KB.
You could skip SJ all together and stick with IR, but IMO for a Kin Fly with hover Siphon speeded is where it's at. Stay above the masses and buff away clear of AoE's etc.
I usually just completely wing my build, so I'm perhaps not the best person to ask! I have no clue about Sonic but i'd say you want everything from Kin with the exception of repel -
Sr can be a frustrating set sometimes. You can be walking through the mobs with hardly a scratch then suddenly you have a bad numbers roll and thinsg ahve gone [censored] up then you're either clicking on the elude button for dear life (If you have it by then!), running away, screaming for a heal/trying desperately to click on that aid self button or face down wondering why you thought skipping Aid self was a good idea, and why you haven't had a green insp drop all mission.
I prefer Invuln, at least you have an idea of what damage is going to come in and you can (sort of) plan for it and have an idea when everything's going to go bad. If you're not fast with your fingers/the mouse then Regen can be tricky to play sometimes, and because they basically have no res, you being hit for 100% of the damage 100% of the time unless you take something else. -
I have neither Aid Self or Tough and I manage just fine.
IMO Invuln is about Defence, not resistance. Your main survivability comes from your stacked Defence, not your smashing/lethal res. you NEED to get the bad guys around you. Ranged can just kill you so quickly. FWIW I don't have either passive, But am considering taking them and 3 slotting with IO's or Recipe sets. Might consider Aid Self, possibly. -
I'd say there's plenty of other things you cans lot instead of Def Debuff. i haven't slotted any into me BS attacks, IMO a waste of more useful slots. I think I have 3dam, 1xacc, 1xend redux (cos it's BS/Invuln) and 1x recharge along with Focussed accuracy. i am tempted to drop FA and put a to-hit into my taunt aura and I now have all lvl 50 IO accuracies in my attacks. not sure TBH.
-
Won't need stamina once you have Transference and you'll be trying your utmost to stack Siphon Speeds onto yourself as well. You want 3 heals in Tranfusion and 3 End Mod in transference. You could possibly drop one of the accuracies as you'll be running tactics, or change a recharge for the end mod/heal. When you have transfusion all those sets and slots in health become instantly redundant. Use the spare sliots for the Transference/fusion.
Power Build Up is currently bugged with transfusion in that the extra %age on the heal doesn't always work correctly. it works fine on Transference, but the only thing you'll really notice the PBU's transference on is EB/AV/GM's TBH. You can practically take all end away from even bosses with 3 slots. -
Well my Kin/Rad can do pretty meaningful DoT using her irradiate attacks after Fulcrum shift and along with the def debuff makes for a useful addition to any team. Also I have a good AoE in neutron bomb. I usually have something I can do with her, I'm not usually waiting for something to do that's for sure.
prettyy much the same thing applies to both my other defdnders, there's usually something that can be done, even if it's simply loosing a few arrows or using energy Torrent to knock a few bad guys down. -
Kinetics is alright solo actually, it's just once you've experienced a team with Kinetics, especially when you start getting the buffs then Speed boost you just want to team all the time.
-
Another addition, but TA/Archery Defender in my Sig!
Cupid's Sister, Trick Arrow/Archery/Power Mastery Defender.
Also edited my other Heroes as you didn't have their Ancillaries down correctly. Aren't I nice? -
As a Defiant player almost exclusively i have to say i don't have a problem getting teams. I have a very full global list and membership of 2 specific SG biased global chat channels. Finding a team of some sort is easily done, although you often have to change character to someone lower/around the teams level. Coalition can also be your friend, but thanks to global it is hardly used anymore.
Find a popular, well 'used' Supergroup and you'll have no problem finding teams at all, believe me.
I sometimes get the idea that people 'finding teams' means waiting for an invite to come in your direction, blind or otherwise. If no one is sending you an invite, get pro-active! Start asking! Invite people into your 1 man team (but send a tell first!) I've had 6-8 man teams at 2AM weekdays before. The teams are out there, but sometimes you have to look for them. -
/agreed with Cuffz as well, EA makes for a crappy set to try and tank with.
-
You could probably swap stamina for something else as you have Energy Drain which is auto hit, but I'd be careful. I can manage it on my DM/EA but I also have the end drain from DM.
-
I keep forgetting! I'm slowly building up my Ghost Widows Embrace for ice Arrow and if I'm feeling really flash I might even consider the set for Emp Arrow too! Will get iec Arrow slotted up first then post my build.
-
You want everything from NRG Aura really, most things from nrg melee, fast attacks are what you want because nrg aura has no inherent taunt aura so you want to be hitting hard and fast rather than using taunt to bring them to you.
-
Seeing as I never use planners I'd need to have a look and maybe post a screenshot. I'm currently trying to find a better hold set for Ice arrow than the Paralytic I currently have, but can post a screenie no problem.
-
my brute has a minimal taunt ability, basically the only things that can keep the aggro on her is a multiple target immob from the patron pool and Soul Drain from my primary. Energy Aura's one weakness is it's lack of taunt aura, but I wouldn't say that means I MUST take taunt.
-
My TA is stamina-less, but I have Conserve power, I find it useful to keep fighting after you've laid down your PBU'd Emp Arrow, so as not to drop your end too much. ONe thing I will say for TA/Archery, when I use Herostats with it I get the longest list of powers waiting to recharge than I've ever had on any toon. I've had the list stretch halfway down my screen sometimes!
-
AFAIK pretty much anything doesn't stack, so there's little point on loading Disruptiona rrow with recharges for example, I think I have 2 or 3, but whilst they don't stack having them overlapping can only be a good thing. The same applies to Acid Arrow, AFAIK it doesn't stack either.
You could slot Glue arrow with a chance for smashing damage as I have, it can be a handy spike in damage when it's a non damage power.
Never tried stunning shot, can't comment, sorry.
I have flashing arrow 2 slotted with debuff IO's, not sure if it makes much of a difference, but I know it doesn't stack with itself either. -
TA/Archery is pretty end light (Emp Arrow excepted, it does a hefty dose of -recovery) so mine (which just hit 50 2 days ago, must change my sig) is staminaless. Combined with a large team this works out pretty well thanks to Vigilance, but if you're wanting leadership in there you'll need stamina, which would make things pretty tight powers wise if you're taking everything I'd have thought.
I skipped out on a few powers as mine is wholly team based, as you plan yours to be. I don't have Entangling arrow, Stunning shot, Aim or Ranged shot, but IMO you want everything from Trick, even though I'm considering dropping Poison Gas Arrow (but you'll need it at low level) and don't have entangling arrow
As mine is exclusively a flying character I also have Hover and Fly, along with Aid Self and Aid other and Swift for the +fly speed. I'd imagine if you drop the medicine pool then you should be able to fit everything in. As it's nearly all Lethal damage you have to wonder if it's worth taking Ranged shot as should you really be taking the first sjhot in a team, expecially when you're unlikely to actually 'arrest' the bad guy in question, and likely attract all sorts of aggro onto you? For Ancillary I picked power mastery, simply because I wanted Power Build up. It can add a hefty dose of Damage onto things like Rain of Arrows, and used in conjunction with Ice Arrow or Emp arrow can give a hold that lasts AGES.
They're a hell of a lot of fun, especially when oil slick lights properly (and I had my first long spate of it not lighting since i10 launched the other night. IMO it's better than it was before but still prone to long bouts of not lighting). As an added bonus, should you be able to work a Technology origin into your character you can use the inherent Taser to light it, which has faster activation than flaming arrow and a faster recharge in case you miss. Rain of Arrows is good, cos it's preety much spammable as much as you want.
Alot of the powers are 'placable' AoE's so you need to be pretty nifty with your mouse to get them in the best positions, but apart from that I loved mine to bits, and fully plan to continue playing her. The amount of chaos she can bring when in a large team is immense, but I wills ay she can't solo for toffee, especially if oil slick fails to light. Oil slick is half your damage potential, if it fails to light you're basically dead meat, although the knockdown still happens, lit or not. -
As I said, ID's use is debatable! I don't really think irradiate needs the 3 damage because you should be using Fulcrum shift before you use it, although i've never really looked into HO's, but I do have a Scirocco's Dervish chance for lethal in it, which is nice cos of the extra spike you get.
I wasn't suggesting taking out Stamina so you can drop your accuracy, I was suggesting taking tactics earlier instead. I haven't had stamina since I got transference slotted well and find no need for it at all in my build. I have a few end redux slotted through my build but not too many. The 'important' stuff like FS, the 2 Siphons, Transfusion and Transference are both 2 slotted with accuracy as well as tactics/ I can even hit MoG'd PP's and Valkyrie occasionally through her Elude with them.
I just mentioned power build up was bugged with Transfusion, but it works with everything else, including Transference, strangely. It's a great buff. Hitting that before you use Atomic blast must be great, but I've never taken it on my Kin.
As is always the case (and it's one of the things I like about COH) no build is 'right' or 'the only way'. I just wanted to give my input and opinion. OVWyx also has valid points.
