    [ QUOTE ]

I'm seeing a lot of posts where people are suggesting that implementing the Flashback system should be used to open up Start Arc drops to level 50s. Guys, I think it's safe to say that ain't happenin'. There's a fair amount of code that would likely need to be added to make Flashbacks a reality, and Cryptic seems to be pretty frugal with its man-hours. Use the KISS priniciple, here. The simpler the solution, the more likely it will be considered.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    I agree.

Personally, I like the idea of schedule B recipes being tied to story arc completion. It gives me something extra to look forward to as I'm playing, especially since I don't do TFs or trials.

The schedule B recipes just need to be attached to something else as well, something that's repeatable but not easily farmable, and something that level 50 characters can do.

I wouldn't mind attaching them to mayhem/safeguard missions with a minimum cooldown period. Say you can only get the recipe reward once a week through mayhem/safeguard missions. That doesn't sound very often, but keep in mind that there are very few story arcs in each five level range.

I hope your kidding about the safeguard missions....

You only need to defeat like 4 minions 2 lts and a boss if your set to heroic.

    [/ QUOTE ]

That's actually 4 minions and 2 lieutenants only. No boss. There's a lieutenant and a group of three minions in the lobby, and the villain and a minion robbing the vault. The villain downgrades to a lieutenant on Heroic.

So yes, it can go really fast.

Currently the only content available for 50s is...
    Killing stuff on the street.
News/Scanner, Mayhem/Safeguard. (and Shard stuff is similar.) = repeatable 1-off missions.
    Trials
    TFs

    [/ QUOTE ]
Wait a minute... aren't there repeatable arcs in the Shard, or am I just high?

    [/ QUOTE ]

There are repeatable missions and TFs, not repeatable story arcs.

To my mind there are only two acceptable solutions:

Distribute story arc recipes to the general loot tables (they can still drop from the story arcs)

    OR

    Flashback.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Or they could add some infinitely repeatable story arcs for level 50 characters.

I'm not sure how Flashback would work in this case, since you might be stuck with lower level recipes. That's on top of finding the arcs among the lower level content in the first place.
  5. My two lowest level characters picked up their wings today. I waited until level 14 and picked up Fly for both of them. I used the extra costume slot from the Halloween event. Instead of starting with nonfunctional wings, they gained flying forms later.

Isn't there a badge for clearing out a Safeguard mission?

    [/ QUOTE ]

No, you don't get one for clearing the mission. There's an exploration badge in each of the different Safeguard missions, and you can get badges for completing side missions enough times. You get progress bars for completing side missions.

My only good experience with a SGM was the IP one (though the FF one wasn't bad)... But Family and Council mobs don't usually tend to be as threatening as others.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Speaking of the FF one, I just finished that with my Ice/Ice blaster Yukihime. Arachnos robbers with the villain Burning Daemon, Council raiders and Crey street groups. Cleared the map and all side missions with more than 25 minutes to spare. Yukihime is a soloing machine! (Well, as long as there isn't an EB involved...)

    15-20 Steel Canyon
    20-25 Skyway City

    [/ QUOTE ]

Are you sure these are correct? The first safeguard mission I did was with my 24 tank and I was sent to Steel Canyon. Contact was in Talos.

    [/ QUOTE ]

You're correct! I wrote them down backwards. My bad. That should be:

    15-20 Skyway City
    20-25 Steel Canyon
  9. I set aside today to work on Safeguard missions. So far I've been doing well. Birdy cleared the Talos Island map and all side missions with 15 minutes left over. There were Freakshow bank robbers with an electric brute villain, Tsoo raiders, and Arachnos street groups. The villain turned on his godmode power, Power Surge, which was a pain. But Birdy is a tanker, so I just waited him out.

Whee! I didn't expect to do so well with my level 5 TA/Archery defender (Gisellen) against Vahzilok bank robbers. There was a mortificator and three reapers in the lobby, which were actually two separate groups. I was able to take out the mortificator alone, followed by the group of reapers, then went on to beat the energy blaster villain (Comatorium) and reaper who were beating on the vault door. Yay jetpack! This was the Atlas Park mission, with Vahzilok raiders and Hellion street thugs. I didn't bother with the side missions this time around.

I strongly suggest pulling the bad guys in the bank lobby, since there's more than one group.

My level 28 Claws/Regen scrapper Midori Mink easily beat the Independence Port Safeguard mission, including all available side missions. Family robbers and raiders, an AR/Traps villain (Double Tap), and Council street groups. I don't see any of my characters having a problem with this one.
  10. [ QUOTE ]
And yet there is nothing I've been able to find to indicate which character levels are given which safeguards.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Here you go:

    5-10 Atlas Park
    10-15 King's Row
    15-20 Steel Canyon
    20-25 Skyway City
    25-30 Independence Port
    30-35 Talos Island
    35-40 Brickstown
    40-45 Founders' Falls
    45-50 Peregrine Island
  11. Oh yes, Hot Topic will definitely be enjoying that change.

Main drawback for me so far is that our 50s can't access the lower-level Safeguards without getting a lower-level character to help them out. I think it'd be nice to be able to go into a lower-level zone and do Police Band missions there to qualify for earlier Safeguards. We do get the police contacts in every Zone, whether we can use them or not -- might as well make them useful for something.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I agree. I'm not that high a level on the hero side but I have already outleveld the Atlas Park mission and couldn't find anyone who wanted to do the police band missions last night. Maybe, somehow, allow everyone access to the maps regardless of level through the end of the year?

    [/ QUOTE ]

It works the same way for CoV mayhem missions. Just treat the lower level safeguard missions like badge missions you missed; you need tag along with lower level heroes to do them. I'd like to be able to solo them too, but I can understand why we can't; they're beneath our notice. We have higher level threats that require our attention.
  13. [ QUOTE ]
    Issue:
Malta (Sappers at least, then the rest once hit) seem to be seeing through Super Speed and Stealth on Peregrine Safeguard. This occured multiple times to multiple individuals with varying degrees of stealth running.

    [/ QUOTE ]

This is true for the street groups in all the safeguard missions.

Although I enjoy the missions, it annoys me that concealment powers don't provide any benefit. As soon as you get in an enemy group's activation range, they aggro on you (as well as nearby objects). I don't mind the enemies attacking objects when you activate them, but they still shouldn't see you until you're in their concealment-adjusted aggro range.
  14. [ QUOTE ]
Ok, I'm not sure if I just missed it or if it's not there but when I checked the I8 notes i didn't see any reference to the changes that were suppose to be in the flying catagory. I mean i've been waiting patiently all this time to see the new flight poses for my character only to log on with my vet rewards and see the same old lame hands at the side pose. I hit the space bar hoping to change his flight position but nothing happened. I'm one of those who really looked forward to changes in the flight patterns, what happened.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Too many complaints with being forced to go into a random flight pose, and some people wanted to keep the old flight pose. The devs withdrew the poses temporarily until they can allow us to choose which pose we want. The fix should be coming before long.
  15. [ QUOTE ]
I've got a level 25 hero who has a pair of titles I now find kind of dorky.

    [/ QUOTE ]

If you have a pair of titles, doesn't that mean you selected them when you hit level 25? If so, you won't get another chance to change your title until level 35. Once you've reached the necessary level, you can see a trainer at any time.
  16. Oh good, I got wings for Birdy tonight and she only has 14 tokens left now. I was afraid I was going to run out soon.
  17. - It's a superhero game
    - The combat engine
    - The ability to solo when I want
    - The costume creator hey that's on the list! I can stop here.
  18. I'd have more interest in bases if I could make some decent personal bases. I start with one room with maybe a little decoration and no functionality. Anything more costs a lot of prestige that could otherwise be going into influence/infamy. Then there's the monthly rent. I have a lot of characters, and keeping track of rent for all of them would be a pain.

I have a personal base for my two highest level characters. I hope someday that I might be able to add something useful to those bases. As it stands, I don't even have basic power and control yet. Once I get that, I have a choice between expensive additions that provide marginal benefit.

I'm looking forward to the base teleporter in the Veterans Awards, though. That could prompt me to make more bases.
  19. Fly is by far my favorite travel power. I have a couple characters who have Super Jump for concept reasons, but if they get to high level they'll be switching to Fly.
  20. I think two weeks of trick-or-treating will be about as much as I can handle. I might not be able to get the extra costume slot for all 27 of my active characters, but I don't want to turn the event into an excessive grind for me either. I'm certainly not going to try to get all the badges for all my characters. It will be fun to see which badges I manage to pick up on the way to getting the costume slots though.

That would stink for the really loyal customers who bought both CoH, CoV and a hero kit.

    [/ QUOTE ]
That was my reasoning for opening discussion. We know so little about it, it's almost pointless to discuss...but I'm still wigged out over it. If someone just starts playing, they're going to have a three month head-start on me...but only if Veteran's Rewards are based on "billing time."

    [/ QUOTE ]

I suggest you wait to get worked up about it
    1) if and when you find out for sure that you are being shorted some time and
    2) you find out what the rewards actually are.

I don't understand why people agonize over things we know very little about at this point.
  22. [ QUOTE ]
Regent Korol is one of my pet peeves from this range. I kind of THOUGHT that I ran three story arcs for her. If I did, she never acknowledged my work, since I never once got an arc completion bonus, nor did she ever give me a single-origin for my trouble. I don’t know if she’s bugged or if she doesn’t actually give story arcs, though I suppose I could check my souvenirs to see if I have any from her. Tech support, when I /bugged this, said that I had “gotten the appropriate reward,” which I really couldn’t interpret. Does that mean I got stealth xp, or does it mean Korol just doesn’t give arc completion bonuses? The world may never know.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Regent Korol gave me a grand total of seven door missions, plus a Grandville patrol mission. Yes, she was a big disappointment. But she did have one mission I really liked, saving her spiderlings in a map of the big Grandville tower. [Which is fun for my flying brute, but I imagine it could be a pain for super speeders.]

Obviously, you've never tried building a fully functional base.

    [/ QUOTE ]

hey, it only took us... how months has it been now?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Be careful about adding new stuff now, the rent could get to be more than our income...

We've got a nice tweak to the Domination ability coming down the pipe (it will crank up your Mez resistance while it is active), and are currently data-mining PvP to see what effect our last set of tweaks to the AT have had.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Actually, I'd prefer to have some good mez protection when NOT in Domination mode, and have it go away in Domination mode.

The real issue is the lackluster abilities outside of Domination, which is most of the time. I think that's what turns most players off the archetype. It's easy to give up on dominators by the late teens when you're doing mediocre damage most of the time with high endurance costs. Beefing up Domination won't make the archetype any more attractive, since Domination is already very nifty.
  25. [ QUOTE ]
Why would anyone choose this power over invisibility?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Because it's available earlier and it's a prerequisite for Invisibility.

You can also attack with Stealth on, which can be handy if you're trying to sneak up on enemies. You have to turn off Invisibility to attack, and wait for the recharge before becoming Invisible again, while the suppression on Stealth only lasts 10 (?) seconds.

I'll often use Stealth missions with my blasters even after I pick up Invisibility.

I really could care less about the tiny defense bonus from Stealth. It's not enough to help. The concealment is useful, even if it suppresses in fights... or when clicking glowies now.
