There's been more than 2 years to balance it out. They haven't even TRIED. They've made zero effort. That *IS* a clear-cut bias.
[/ QUOTE ]
From what I remember, the devs said that they'd do their best to give both heroes and villains roughly equal attention each issue.
Yes, that means that the games will never be completely balanced. CoH came first and has a big head start on content. Personally, I'd rather see both games get new and interesting content on a regular basis than have CoH ignored until CoV "caught up". -

The City Vault
[/ QUOTE ]
You're going to have a beta test for that? Interesting. I'm looking forward to seeing what the Vault is like. Hopefully getting it "perfect" doesn't mean it will be delayed indefinitely.

Smoothing the XP Curve

That should generate a lot of controversy, no matter what you come up with. Sounds great though.

Okay, now I'm finally going to fully forgive Positron for what he did to Phase Shift.

No prestige on three seperate SG's. Haven't checked the ones redside.
(desi arnaz voice) POssssiii... you got some 'splainin' to doooo...
[/ QUOTE ]
Three of them? Wow.
I checked all 32 of my single character bases, and 31 of them got both prestige bonuses. Strangely, Steel Dancer didn't get a prestige bonus for her SG, Danseuse d'Acier, on Pinnacle. All of my other characters on Pinnacle got the bonuses. Steel Dancer feels so left out.
But I purchased lots of base goodies for my other characters, so overall I'm happy. -
On my characters (39 of them), the option "Hide Friends from Web Page" was not enabled for any of them. I had to enable that option along with the other options on all characters. (Except my newest two, who will be unhidden.)

The various third-party sites that track badges and such don't seem to have any problem getting people to sign up.
[/ QUOTE ]
I think I've heard of one or two, but I don't know where they are or what they do. This is mainly due to lack of interest on my part. I'm sure I've seen links here and there every long now and then.
All my characters are hidden from the new web pages now, so I'm ready for it to go live! I'm very interested in seeing what they look like. -

[ QUOTE ]
So many people against this, I'm wondering what you all are hiding
[/ QUOTE ]
I have no clue, the best I can figure is that people are afraid others will point and laugh at their build. That seems silly considering the number of builds I see posted on the boards.
[/ QUOTE ]
I for one don't post my builds on the boards.
Because people would point and laugh at them.
I do agree that the default should be unhidden, so that the feature gets used. My characters will be hidden at first, but I'll probably trickle them into unhidden status, after I see what the web pages are like. -

I don't see why anyone's complaining. You can disable them right now in game so you never have to worry about it.
[/ QUOTE ]
And how do you disable them on an inactive account, mmmh?
[/ QUOTE ]
From the OP:
"All of these settings are configured per character. Characters who have not logged in for over 90 days, regardless of whether they are tied to an active or inactive account, will not be viewable." -

[ QUOTE ]
As has been mentioned, they already have everyone's names, for the most part.
[/ QUOTE ]
I'm thinking that's a bit of an exaggeration. I know for me, the RMT spammers reguarly hit 2 of my alts on one server and the other 22 never get any spam.
So might be safe to say they do not have every alt's names.
[/ QUOTE ]
I agree. Only two of my 37 characters currently get the e-mail spam. -
[ QUOTE ]
I'm gonna go against the grain here and say I'd prefer this information to be made available by default. If the default is set to "hide," those who have themselves unhidden will be the exception, rather than the rule, as anyone who doesn't know about or just doesn't care enough to take the time to enable it (but wouldn't especially mind other people seeing their info out of game) would be excluded. In other words, the new feature would likely become very little-used.
I feel that the only ones to be excluded from the system should be those who explicitly decide to be excluded, and I suspect that will be a relatively small segment of the population. I don't see it as an invasion of privacy, even with PvP in the equation, to display a character's bio, power choices, or statistics.
[/ QUOTE ]
You make a sound argument. I'm forced to agree with you. If hidden stats was the default, the system would get little use.
*runs to enable hide on the options*
What? I'm shy! I may start unhiding characters later, after I see how the system works. -
May you all burn! BURN!!!
Um, I mean, happy villain day! -
[ QUOTE ]
They should probably be an ambush spawn anyway, just to prevent them from hanging out at the doorway if the opener runs off. Have 'em give chase until the opener's ToT timer resets, then despawn.
[/ QUOTE ]
I think that would be pretty harsh on stalkers, and possibly a lot of masterminds as well. Any ambush targeted on a character removes much of a stalker's fighting ability. -
[ QUOTE ]
Suggestion*
Make it so if someone doesnt kill their door spawn they get nothing from doors for 2 hours.
[/ QUOTE ]
But... my lower level characters are being courteous by leaving enemies for other players to kill! Those Halloween critters are worth badges, you know.
(If I kill too many critters in the lower levels, I'll outlevel some of my contacts.) -
[ QUOTE ]
Now when you say that we get costume to look like non-player characters. Does that mean we would gain the powers of that character while we have the costume. Because only being able to dress like a non-player character is very not exciting. Have the temp powers of the non-player characters would a much larger desire to try to achive the costumes making the Holloween event much more excitable. But that's only my view.
[/ QUOTE ]
It's cosmetic only. I can understand a lack of interest in them, but they're a novelty that many players will enjoy. -
My favorite Issue 9 feature:
New tram locations in Founders' Falls and Skyway City!
Followed by the stores in King's Row.
The common IOs are nice too. I didn't see them on the list for exciting shineys, just the sets. -

Here's what I had from back when, but I don't know where the original post about it is:
Levels 10-25: Fairy Wings, Insect Wings
Levels 26-40: Burned Wings, Draconic Wings
Levels 41-50: Bat Wings, Bone Wings, Cherubic Wings, Tech Wings
[/ QUOTE ]
Man.......that .......blows........
I've gotten 2 costume drops from scanner missions- nothing really good from street sweeping, so my hopes of getting lucky in Bloody Bay or Sirens Calll doesn't hold up hope....grrrrrrrrrr
[/ QUOTE ]
Unfortunately I haven't been able to confirm or refute those level ranges. They could be outdated. -

Apparently the tech wings don't even start dropping until the 40s.

There ain't no way this is true.

I'd certainly like to use the new wings, but I think the odds of any of my characters getting appropriate wings are extremely remote.
Apparently the tech wings don't even start dropping until the 40s. I have a few characters who could really use them, and have a loooong wait to even get a chance at those. Meanwhile, I think most of my characters have outleveled the drops for the insect and fairy wings.
*shrug*
The new costume items are simply not available for use, as far as I'm concerned. -
*trudge trudge trudge*
Oh, look, there's my objective on the other side of that small hill! I'll just cruise right over. Right over. Hmm. Can't get over the hill. Oh, come on, the hill isn't even waist high, I could hop over. If I can't go over the hill, I'd have to take the loooong way around on the path.
Sigh.
*trudge trudge trudge* *fight fight fight* *trudge trudge trudge*
20 minutes later...
Time to go back to CoH! -
No. I'm not even tempted to go into PvP zones to get badges or Shivans.

[ QUOTE ]
You're missing the point. I'm not talking about whether 51's are necessary, I'm talking about the NUMBER of SO L51 enhancements that drop that are not the "gang of 5". The reason I cite 51's is that they are drop only, which is where the rare IO's will be for you if you don't use Wentworths. I'm also not talking about fully slotting with IO's, I agree that'll be as likely as fully slotting with HO's in today's game.
However, if you need a certain rare IO to complete a set, my point is that you may be waiting till issue 17 if you're going to only use what drops for you, and not visit Wentworths.
[/ QUOTE ]
I can live with that.
[ QUOTE ]
If you believe that Wentworths will not speed up the process of completing IO sets, then I have to tell you that you are very sadly mistaken.
[/ QUOTE ]
Sure it will speed up the process. Those that are concerned about completing IO sets should definitely consider making a lot of use of the consignment shops. I don't consider the gain to be worth the time and effort though. It's a bit like spawn camping and farming. They can speed up the process of getting what you want. Some people enjoy those things, some don't, and I don't.
[ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ]
If they got rid of all the vendors where you can buy SOs, then the consignment shops would be far more important. [And I would be very grumpy.]
[/ QUOTE ]
You've just described exactly the state of affairs for IO's. I'm not sure why you're not grumpy about it.
[/ QUOTE ]
Because I have the SOs! The IOs aren't that much better. The IOs are extra flavor that I can use as I find them. -
[ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ]
Low levels are transitory. Only the endgame matters.
[/ QUOTE ]
Bull<bleep>.
[/ QUOTE ]
I'll echo that sentiment. There is not end game in this game as far as I'm concerned. The vast bulk of the content is on the way to 50. In my case, getting IOs at 50 would be pretty pointless for combat purposes and not unlike picking up badges that I've missed. Meanwhile, getting IOs much earlier in the game could be quite useful. -
[ QUOTE ]
In both cases you most certainly can. However the [ilikelyhood[/i] of getting complete sets w/o using Wentworths is likely to be significatly lower, just like the likelyhood of getting completely slotted with 50 SO's is significantly lower without use of NPC vendors nowadays.
[/ QUOTE ]
Yes, but we have the vendors, so we can get fully stocked with SOs. The stores also provide very quick and reliable places to buy and sell. I don't need to fully slot with IOs. I can take whatever IOs I pick up in my adventures.
[ QUOTE ]
Yes, you can get the "gang of 5" without breaking a sweat - that being Dam, Acc, Endrdx, Rchrdx and Range(?). However, the rest of them are remarkably rare. How many 51+ SO's do you have slotted that are for Defence, Resist, Heal, Endmod (as in stamina), Tohitbuff, Taunt, Mez, et al. I sure don't have many, and I've got a year or two under my belt.
[/ QUOTE ]
Not applicable at this point. I can't use anything past level 50.
[ QUOTE ]
Since we HAVE to get 51+ via drops, you begin to see the problem.
[/ QUOTE ]
I'm not particularly concerned about getting the slight boosts to abilities with 51+ enhancements. Again, I can just use what drops. I'm not a min/max type.
I have nothing against the consignment shops. I'm sure they'll get a lot of use, at least early on. But as far as I can tell from what I've heard so far, I'd rather not bother with them, and they're not necessary. If they got rid of all the vendors where you can buy SOs, then the consignment shops would be far more important. [And I would be very grumpy.] -
[ QUOTE ]
What this all amounts too is that people will feel like they are walking into a casino rather than a consignment shop. Even looking to make the simple transaction, you will be worried about getting somehow screwed either by the system itself, or another player, or the lack of knowledge on how it works and screwing yourself. My thinking...pretend I9 never happened and just hope I10 brings some useable content to the game.
[/ QUOTE ]
You can still make full use of the Inventions system without using the consignment shop. The consignment shop is an optional extra. If you don't like it, don't use it. I plan to use inventions, but I don't plan to use the consignment shop. -
I don't enjoy looking for teams. My teaming tends to be very spontaneous. So I ignored the event almost completely. (It's hard to miss the new contact notice when you log in, but that's to be expected and I didn't mind that.)
What can I say? I would expect forced teaming for this event. It's pretty much a requirement to keep in the spirit of the holiday. I'm sure it worked out great for a lot of people... until they ran into the Red Caps and Snaptooth, at least.
My only suggestion is to avoid using Snaptooth and the Red Caps for more than one holiday. Variety is good. Speaking of which, also avoid using CoT for holiday events. I like them, but they're overused already. -
[ QUOTE ]
YES highly agreed... there IS a solution though... it was shelved way back oh i4 i think...
FLASHBACKING!!! when you cna repeat a favorite contact or storyarc...
include THAT into the invention system... and i THINK you might have a winna!!!!
[/ QUOTE ]
I think you missed a large part of the discussion here.
Says Doctor Brainstorm:
"I am listening to your ideas, but a Flashback system is simply not something we can implement in a timeframe you would all be happy with. Instead we are looking into other options to get you the Pool B choice so level 50s don't feel gimped."
