So what do the developers do? They say... "Ok from now on we give you virtually nothing for short TF's and zilch for radios... but hey! That's ok because we will FORCE YOU to grind endlessly on long TF's and zone jump for story arcs you have all seen a million times for - well, mediocre merit reward."

    [/ QUOTE ]

Or you could... not worry about the rewards. I'm a casual player, and I don't even do TFs at all. My merits will be dribbling in slowly through story arcs. This matters not to me.

Plowing through KHTFs all day to get some random recipe drops doesn't sound very casual to me. But if you're only playing the game for the IO recipes, I can see how the change might be disappointing to you. I'm in it for the superheroic mission action/adventure game myself.
  2. Base Repricing
    1) How will the repricing of bases affect you personally?

I will be able to purchase larger plot sizes for my largest two (multiplayer) bases, along with larger rooms. I will also be able to get some larger rooms for my largest singl-character bases. However, I have to delete a number of empowerment stations and storage bins, because I don't want to pay rent with my single-character bases. The rent prices are very reasonable, but with 36 of those bases, that's just too much traveling to pay rent. That reduces my base building options somewhat.

    2) Will you dismantle your base to gain the additional prestige from the repricing?

I wouldn't really call it a dismantling. For my larger single-character bases, it's simply a matter of building a new teleporter room, transferring my teleporters over, and deleting the old teleporter room. For my two multiplayer bases, I'll upgrade to a larger plot size, create new rooms, transfer stuff to them (or replace certain items as appropriate), and delete the old rooms. The old bases are a bit cramped, so I'll be able to put more style into the expanded bases.

    3) How long would this process take you if you were to engage in this practice?

Probably about an hour for each of the two multiplayer bases. The smaller bases only have minor changes.

    4) What are the positive and negative concerns regarding repricing?

My only concern is the new rent scheme. As I said, the rent is cheap, but I'm now more limited on functional items I can purchase for my bases. Too many bases with rent means too much traveling to Atlas Park and Port Oakes.

    5) How will this feature affect you long term and short term?

Short term: Bigger plot sizes for my multiplayer bases, larger rooms, and more teleporters (already crafted), but fewer empowerment stations and storage items for my other bases. Long term: Better ability to expand the size of my bases, but with strict limitations on functionality.

Base Salvage Exchange to Invention Salvage
    1) What is the negative effect on your base for this feature implementation?

Much more difficult to craft teleporters. Takes uncommon and rare salvage that I would like to use for IOs. Severe reduction in public salvage storage, which will make it problematic to share things like event salvage.

    2) What is the positive effect on your base for this feature implementation?

... None that I can see.

    3) How long will it take you to adjust to learning this new system?

No time at all. I've already learned what I need to know.

    4) What side effects to this system do you currently see from transitioning the old to new system?

Event salvage goes away. No room to spare for it.

    5) What security concerns do you have regarding this change?

None for myself. For others, I expect salvage that's popular on the market to be a prime target for theft.
  3. I'll miss you, Lighthouse! I hope you enjoy your new endeavors , wherever you end up. And be sure to keep playing the game we love.

This depresses me. This game is dying. Posi and crew have lost touch with their most dedicated player base.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Who are you talking about?

I've been around practically since launch, and I'm staying. As far as I can tell, Issue 13 is giving me nothing but good stuff, and I'm very much looking forward to the Mission Architect.

Granted, Issue 13 is pretty light on content, and it's a bit of a wait to Issue 14, but I'm still as addicted to the game as ever.

I don't understand why you're making it even easier to travel to a mission. At least considering giving it a very long recharge timer.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Um... you enjoy spending a lot of time traveling to missions?

[/ QUOTE ]You think anywhere but the shard takes a long time?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Well, yes. In fact, I had a string of missions not that long ago that coincidentally shuttled me back and forth between Dark Astoria and the Hollows...

*waits impatiently for the PC version of the power*
  7. Muhahaha.

I got all four of the zombie invasion badges for my level 50 Ice/Ice blaster, without being on a team. For the second time, I encountered a big zombie fight shortly after logging in. Between the two fights, I helped destroy a lot of zombies.

Granted Blizzard helps a lot with that kind of thing.

Edit: Whoa, and I did it again, this time with a level 39 Energy/Energy blaster. But this time I only needed one big fight. I got all four badges, and only used Nova once.

With a total of 14 zombie badges so far, I can say that my previous dim expectations of getting the badges solo have been wiped out. Obviously it's still much faster to get them on teams, especially if you need to do it with a lot of alts, but those big fights can draw a lot of zombie targets for solo players too.

I really wish mine and his pets would pull the aggro from the door clicker.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I had an easy time with my Merc/Storm. I hovered above the enemies in bodyguard mode while the pets fired away.
  9. [ QUOTE ]

Three boring hours going from door to door to door, more than a hundred zombies and witches and pumpkinheads down, more than a score of werewolves and vampires. And not ONE ghost. In three hours. Not One ghost

    [/ QUOTE ]

As usual, my policy is that I don't grind to get badges. I enjoy doing some trick-or-treating, but I'm not going to overdo it with any given character. I got near the point of grinding yesterday with a couple characters trying to get the extra costume slot, but that's a costume slot and not a badge.

My approach this time around for most of my characters is to get one Halloween badge they didn't have before. I picked up Dead Head for three characters tonight, and Apocalypse Survivor for my level 50 Ice/Ice blaster. (My third solo Apocalypse Survivor badge so far!)

I got Buster for six characters (including the Ice/Ice blaster) in previous Halloween events, and that's enough Busters for me.

Can I put a plea out to those people who are ToTing; please please, if something comes out a door, kill it!

    [/ QUOTE ]

I've been killing almost all of my groups (I admit I ran from a Vampire Lord boss once), but considering the enemies sticky-aggro on the door opener and ignore concealment, I don't blame people for clicking and running.

And appealing to forumites isn't going to help with all the non-forumites out there. I suggest petitioning people who intentionally run you over, and taking steps to avoid grabbing the aggro of the Halloween critters. For example, masterminds may be better off running in bodyguard mode, so the pets don't shoot at everything that moves. Also, watch out where you fire the AoE attacks.

I haven't had a problem with it so far, but I've stayed out of heavy population zones like Peregrine Island and Grandville.
  11. [ QUOTE ]
Okay... after two hours of ToTing on Villains, I still hadn't seen a SINGLE Zombie Apocalypse announcement (heroes or villains). Neither had anyone on my team, some who had been playing for several hours. I'm not sure, but if they aren't every 2 hours, then when are they?

    [/ QUOTE ]

    ??

I was on Guardian less than two hours ago (because I've only been home for a couple of hours) with my Peacebringer, and I saw invasion announcements. I remember Talos and Striga, among others.
  12. I managed to get a new costume slot for my five characters who needed it today. So things are going well for me so far.

Playing solo, I didn't think I had any chance at getting the new badges for the zombie invasions. Then I happened on a big zombie fight and took out an elite boss on the edge of the fighting with my Earth/Fire dominator, earning the Apocalypse Survivor badge. Huh. Later I jumped into a big fight with my Broadsword/Dark scrapper and got the badge for killing lieutenants.

Still later, I logged in to my TA/Archery defender to check on something in my base, and saw the red skies in Talos. I wandered over to the big fight on the hill, and just happened to spot an EB off to the side. The lag was bad, but I picked up another Apocalypse Survivor badge by plinking arrows into the EB. If that character can do it, some of my other characters might be able to also, with some luck.
  13. [ QUOTE ]
It's not so much that they have it, as I can't find a 'thematic' reason for them to have it.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Thematic reason, no.

They initially didn't have knockback protection on test, but it was added after player input. (They were too easy to kill without it.)
  14. I'll make a couple of the same suggestions I've made before.

    - High School Student. (Yes, we need some high schools too.)

    - Membership in villain factions (such as Freakshow, Council and Sky Raider bases in Sharkhead, and Carnival base in St Martial).
  15. [ QUOTE ]
And for those of us with legitimate mental disorders (obsessive-compulsive collecting habits)? What benefit is gained from making us wait, inactive, and penalize us for playing the game we want to play it?

    [/ QUOTE ]

I'm introverted and shy. As a result, I solo nearly all the time. I think it's been a few months since I joined a team in the game. I can't form my own teams, and I don't stick with a team very long when I do team. Even so, I don't ask the devs to make all content solo friendly. I expect TFs and trials to be team content, and I simply don't do them. I do occasionally ask the devs to make contact missions more solo friendly, but I don't expect them to comply.

There's nothing wrong with asking the devs to make the Day Jobs more badger friendly, but keep in mind that they're catering to a large audience. They want the day jobs to mean something to players, especially roleplayers, and not simply be a frivolous way to earn a bunch of new badges.

The devs aren't out to penalize you, they're looking at coming up with a system that works best for the majority of players. That may mean reducing the time to earn badges... or not.
  16. [ QUOTE ]
Positron the thirty days is cumulative and not consecutive right?

    [/ QUOTE ]

The answer is stated right in the article.

"When characters are logged out from a designated location (consecutively or non-consecutively) for a total of 30 days they will earn a badge associated with the corresponding Day Job. This will result in additional benefits. Once a badge is earned, the rate at which characters accumulate benefits, and even the potency of them increase!"
  17. [ QUOTE ]
A lot of people seem to be saying, "60 days is fair to earn an Accolade because you get a power at the end of it."

You may have failed to read that you can only use the power a set number of times, and then you have to log out at one of the two job locations that led to that Accolade for 8 days to fully recharge it.

    [/ QUOTE ]

No, I read that part. That system works for me. Except for maybe one or two characters, I won't be interested in going for more than two day jobs for any given character. The exception(s) won't be concerned about the temp powers.

Although I do like to pick up badges, I generally don't go much out of my way to get them. I might go a bit out of my way to pick up a badge that's very appropriate for a character, but I don't feel any particular need to pick up badges that aren't appropriate for my characters.

And there are a lot of badges that I won't go after even if they're appropriate. When certain badges take me too far away from doing my missions, I give up on them.
  18. elvnsword09, you've managed to misinterpret much.

    [ QUOTE ]
30 days?! Why would I want to put one of my heroes or villians on the bench for a whole month of payed play time.

    [/ QUOTE ]

You don't have to bench characters. You don't have to be logged out 30 consecutive days. You can play normally, logging out in the same location every time, and accumulate the 30 days. As long as you remember to log off in the same location every time, the benefits will show up one day.

    [ QUOTE ]
    The costumes are unlockable... again?!

    [/ QUOTE ]

The article makes no mention of unlockable costume items, and Positron confirmed that the new day job costumes are available at start, and are NOT unlockable items.

I think 30 days is an appropriate length of time, considering we're gaining power benefits as well as badges. 60 days for an accolade also seems reasonable to me, and will prevent us from snatching them up quickly. I'd like my characters to concentrate on one or two specialties, rather than bouncing from one random job to the next in rapid succession.
  19. [ QUOTE ]
    1 + 1 is 2. It's FACT.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Don't be silly. 1+1=10.

I think the only APP powers I care about are the single target holds for scrappers and tankers. I could be wrong, but I don't expect those to go away. It would be nice to see brutes and stalkers get access to a decent single target ranged hold, but it would also be nice if villains didn't have to go through a story arc with a non-droppable elite boss fight to unlock their patron pools.

Currently, I don't use patron powers at all.
  20. [ QUOTE ]
I think these 2 changes should pretty much balance EA in PvE. It cuts down the toxic hole, leave psy as the common hole. Then gives a potential 40% heal with a sacrifice to end recovery or recharge.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Not for me it won't. The toxic resistance isn't much, and I won't get anywhere near that "potential" 40% heal. But any little buff is nice, even if it doesn't balance the set sufficiently.
  21. Wait, there are no high schools! How do I get a "job" as a high school student??

Clearly we must have a high school added.

Electrician would be good, for electric power places. (Lots of those in King's Row.)

Hmmm... one of my characters could use a job as a singer/entertainer. I wonder if there's a place for that in Paragon City.

Telephone service? We could stand on the phone lines.
    Cable TV service?

Curiously absent from the announcement is some kinda' mention of The Vault.
