    Well I'm not going to wait 3-5 days. We need 2 or none. Giving only 1 means we have to choose which of our TWO builds stays gimped. So either let us fix both builds or just don't take care of your player base. One respec is like french kissing your sister.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    O.o

    You know of course that your characters would just end up gimped again even if they gave you two freespecs. Better delete them now to avoid the continued gimpiness.

    (I'll take the one freespec, thanks much. There's no real reason for them to give us one at all this issue.)

    Just when is soon?
    Today? Tomorrow? Next month?

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Even sooner than the City Vault!

    [Oh, and about that friendly NPC following you around, killing things and you getting full credit for rewards....does this mean I can make a big [censored] mob of friendly AV"s that will follow me around and kill everything on the map I made so I can solo farm to PL me really quickly?

    [/ QUOTE ]

    See here.

    It seems some people are cursed to never believe the words "We’re granting full experience (XP) and influence rewards for defeating enemies in player made content." Instead, they instead insist there's a huge "except when it doesn't" that the Devs meant to add following that statement.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Hmm. That's an interesting insight. I was also under the impression that MA missions won't give you an XP and inf bonus when you complete them. (See here.) But you're probably right. You probably know far more about what the devs have said than I do.
  5. [ QUOTE ]
    Hmm. Do you think players would rate an arc low if it had a mission with an ally NPC in it? A couple of the arcs I want to do are going to have a mission with allies (which is important to the story), but now I'm worried that some players won't like that.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    I'd say it may depend on what you do with the allies. If you put them early in the mission and required the player to free them as part of the objectives, then they might suck up too much XP, resulting in bad ratings. If you make taking them along optional, players could balance the XP loss against the gains and decide for themselves.

    I plan to use NPC allies frequently in my missions, but I'll make them optional.

    unless you have NPCs in your arcs helping you fight

    [/ QUOTE ]

    where'd you get this, from what i've read you still get full rewards if you have ally npc, you're just limited to how many you can have; Are dev-content arcs that have npc allies nerfed xp? I've never noticed anything like that

    [/ QUOTE ]

    See here.

    There were some discussions about this a looong time ago, but they've been lost over the months.

    Sporch. I meant Tuesday, March 24th.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    A couple weeks of open testing? A little tight, but reasonable (barring unreasonable bugs).

    MA goes live Tuesday, March 14.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    O.o

    Which year is that?
  9. [ QUOTE ]
    Casual gamer doesnt have many toons level 45+ if any.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Speaking of which, I finally reached the 50 merit point with two of my characters. One is level 48 and the other is level 47. I play a lot, but I have a lot of alts, so I'm not going to earn a total of 200 merits on one character for a looong time.

    Once Issue 14 arrives, I expect to earn FAR more skeeball tickets over time than merits.
  10. Hmmm... Save a catgirl from a DE Herder... that has possibilities.
  11. [ QUOTE ]
    Someone said the video was uniformative, hm, oooookaaaay?

    Let's see, it's the first of 3 planned webisodes so no, it wouldn't cover everything but it did cover farming and making challenging content.

    It also answered the question on whether players would get paid for their content and what they could do if they didn't like it.

    It implies that you can put multiple missions within an arc and control how many enemies a player can go up against.

    It goes into what not to expect as MA rewards.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Are you being serious?

    LOL

    It amounts to a few vague hints at best. I already knew that I wouldn't be able to create a mission to rescue a cat from a tree, thanks.
  12. [ QUOTE ]
    Do I hold out five stars for absolutely superior story arcs? Even though I thought an arc was fun and enjoyable and certainly worthy? Or do I pass them out like candy to anything I think might be cool as a permanent arc?

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Do I even bother trying to get story worth of a hall of fame or devs' choice award? Are there any other rewards other than getting my story arc a promotion? If that's all there is to it, then I'll probably stick to creating rapidly cycling story arcs for my characters, and not worry about the ratings.
  13. [ QUOTE ]
    If i make my own story arc while sitting at home pantsless...will that earn me the "creepy" badge?

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Isn't that the "Hickman's Pal" badge?
  14. [ QUOTE ]
    I understand we can't edit existing villain groups powers. But can we at least alter their appearance, or colors?

    IE: I want a black and red PPD Hardsuit. And I'd like a big pink warwolf for my GF.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Pohsyb answered this back on the first page of this thread.

    (And the answer was no.)
  15. [ QUOTE ]
    Am I the only one that found that video to be stupid rather than awsome?

    looks up a few posts and sees that I am not alone..lol

    [/ QUOTE ]

    I thought the video was pretty funny, and completely uninformative.

    Fortunately, we've been getting some good information today from other sources. Unfortunately, one of my two worst fears about the Mission Architect has been realized, and the other is very likely to be realized. We won't get rewards for playing unpublished arcs, which means I'll have to swap out published arcs frequently, which detracts from the hall of fame or devs' choice awards. And it sounds like the more interesting unique maps may be unlockable rather than being available at start. I'm hoping to see a lot of the maps that I haven't seen before, but I may end up frustrated.

    On the bright side, those are pretty weak "worst fears", and I'm very much looking forward to the Mission Architect.

    The one Ispo_Facto posted is the Spelunker badge mission, which is below-15 range. The one I'm talking about is the one in the 25-29 range, which currently on live gives 2 merits, not 1.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Right. I saw "mystic" and got myself confused. Sorry.
  17. [ QUOTE ]

    I just realized...

    Another player facility in AP? Shall Galaxy City never receive some city planner love?

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Like the arena?

    (It may be a pretty useless facility, but it does look nice.)

    I noticed tonight there's a big patch, but no patch notes again

    Note that this is currently at the top of every forum area.

    I have been the biggest "fan boy" of CoH for years. But there is WAY TOO MANY CHANGES going through, onto live, WITH NO NOTICE to the players.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Just wondering, but would it matter if they gave us notice of changes like this? They're gonna do it anyway, 9 times out of 10.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    If they don't tell us, then we may not know whether it's a bug or not, and many players may end up sending in pointless bug reports.

    Do we even know for sure that the inability to delete empowerment buffs isn't a bug? I might have been tempted to /bug that if I had run into it without reading about it from other forumites.
  20. [ QUOTE ]
    Also missing from the patch notes:

    The ability to delete empowerment buffs has been removed.

    Good luck getting Fabricator through empowerment buffs.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    This would bother me if I was still using Empowerment Stations, although not because of the badge issue. I sometimes used to use the knockback protection buff when fighting factions that do a lot of knockback (DE, Cimerorans, etc) then delete the buff, because I don't like the look of the aura. If the buffs are going to stay on the full duration, they really should get rid of those auras.

    But I stopped using the Empowerment Stations for a couple reasons (they cost rent now, and they use invention salvage that I prefer to save for IOs), so this is just another reason to avoid them in the future.
  21. [ QUOTE ]
    That's why I was doing it over and over and over and over and over and over... you get the idea... only to find out that all the time I'd been doing that, this had already been nerfed and none of it counted.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Yes, that's the part where the devs screwed up. They didn't tell people that they were removing the badge. But removing the badge doesn't affect the plot in Gaussian's arc.
  22. [ QUOTE ]
    Okay on this change, something else needs to be done as well. Without the Reformed Badge, the RWZ mission to defeat Longbow is now senseless.
    Why defeat them when there's no credit for doing so?
    Mission either needs to be scrapped all together or change the npc enemy in the mission.
    The way it is currently, there's no sense to do this mission.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    The story in Gaussian's arc required getting the badge for it to make sense?

    I don't think so. In fact, I think it's safe to say that most players didn't do that arc expecting to get the Reformed badge. Defeating a thousand Longbow takes more than one run through those missions.
  23. [ QUOTE ]
    Most of those other badges were acquired with exactly the same amount of metagaming so they are just as "unintended" to get.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    But...

    Wait, I wasn't going to get any of those anyway. Way too much work for any of them.

    Well, okay. You sold me. Take them away!
  24. [ QUOTE ]
    If that were the case then these also should have been blocked/changed:

    <ul type="square">[*]Hero accessible only with the 1st mission villain side during the Valentine's event.
    * Coldblooded | Coldhearted
    * Hellfrost Gladiator
    * Weed Whacker
    * Hordeling Lasher Gladiator[*] Villain accessible only through winter event.
    * Cap Buster
    * Bane of Dannon[*]Hero side extremely rare spawns
    * Venomous
    * Tarantula Gladiator
    * Blue Ink Man Gladiator[*]Villain side extremely rare spawns
    * Weatherman/Weatherwoman &lt;-only 3 Outcast bosses total in CoV, under highly select conditions.
    * Skull Crusher
    * Regenerator
    * Illusionist
    * Untouchable[/list]...

    Side switching doesn't explain things. Sadly I think the only reason we are left with is that the developer's whim changed.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    I don't understand why. If the Reformed badge was specifically intended to be given to villains who switch sides, to signify that they have switched sides, then what do those other badges have to do with it? It seems to me that those other badges are fine, and don't need to be changed.
