No longer will you be able to hover over melee attack units and kill them with AOEs. They will now have a ranged attack so you can't keep out of their range and take them down.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Right. Works much better for my purposes.
  2. I was mostly concerned with the armor sets, and I'm happy to see most of the status effect protection removed for minions. Ensuring each melee set has at least one ranged attack is good too, even though some of those attacks don't match the sets very well. I think I'll be able to work with these sets much better than the ones on the live servers.

Is there a way to set a custom boss to be an EB during solo play, but an Archvillain during Team or Max Difficulty play? Does it automatically scale it down?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Archvillains normally scale down to elite boss when playing on less than the highest difficulty rating solo.

I am at a loss as to how the rewards system works. Do you get XP, Inf, Drops, and these Tickets? Or what?

    [/ QUOTE ]

You get normal XP, influence and inspiration drops from defeating enemies. Any other drops are replaced by tickets. You don't get the big end-of-mission XP and inf bonus, but you get a ticket bonus instead. Also, patrol XP doesn't seem to apply to AE missions.

When I browse the arcs, do I see things JUST from my server, or all servers?

    [/ QUOTE ]

    All servers.

    [ QUOTE ]
Also, I made a custom boss and I didnt get a badge for it... Is that normal? The sticky says there is a badge for it, but I am not sure why I didn't get it.

    [/ QUOTE ]

You need to publish an arc with a custom boss to get the badge.

I could solo them both with an SOd Claws/WP Scrapper at the bottom end of the arc's level range, set to Rugged, using two inspirations on one and three on the other--I consider that reasonably soloable.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Okay, now try that with a Mind/Energy dominator.

god knows kheldians and dominators couldn't lvl pre MA, obviously why there were never any lvl 50's before I14, then after 3 days of MA the game is flooded with lvl 50 doms and squids... ...

    wake up.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I got my Warshade to 50 AND Purple IO'd in 3 days? Hot damn, I am good!

    [/ QUOTE ]

I finished getting my Warshade to level 22 after only one MA arc!

Granted she was most of the way to 22 already. I'm certainly not part of this "flood".

You're really not making any kind of sense.

And to the other group that is full of it (the people who say they genuinly use MA for what it was intended for... b.s.) if the most important thing is the story you create, then taking the xp away from it wouldn't hurt. If you want xp, play the xp missions as the dev's intended them, if you want to play your own story, play MA with no xp. IF MA truly is all about the story for you, then reduced xp or none at all wouldn't matter to you.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I want to create my own mission content. I want stories appropriate for my characters, and I want my characters to make progress as the do those stories. I need both plot and development. The current MA allows me to create missions that fulfill that purpose.

There are certain characters of mine who are better off doing my MA missions. This includes my Kheldians and Dominators.

Take away the XP, and I have no reason to use the MA as an alternative to standard missions. I create my own stories because they become an alternative, not because I want to write a story. If I just want to write a story, I have Word for that.

    Don't nerf my MA XP.
  8. Thank you for creating yet another MA farming thread. The sheer number of threads on the subject prove that there is a sheer number of people who are concerned about the topic. I have a sneaking suspicion that most of these concerned individuals play on Freedom, due to numerious earlier thread starters being located on Freedom, and since I haven't seen a problem on the six servers I'm playing on (but I could be missing something).

I would rather you not nerf my XP because of your perceived problem, thanks.
  9. You can't set a level for an individual custom critter. However, if you have a group of custom critters that you're using, you could add a standard enemy to the group to set the level.

I am playing at least one arc a day, and I know other devs are also finding the time.

Generally the arcs miss being Dev Choiced by things like "Oh, did I forget to mention there is an AV on this map?"

In CoH/V we are pretty clear when there is an AV that you should bring some friends along to help you.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Yay!

Down with the gratuitous surprise AV objectives!
  11. [ QUOTE ]
Huge, and very annoying, with spawn placements you have to be careful to work around or just grind your way through if you want to move forward.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Ironically, one of the big reasons I like those maps is because it's easy for me to avoid enemies if I want. I can simply fly far enough over the heads of enemies so they don't notice me. If you don't have flight or a concealment power, I can see how things would be a bit different.
  12. Cargo ships are great when you want to have a variety of objectives. I can add in rescues, glowies and destructible objects, while a lot of other standard maps are much more restricted. They're also very appropriate for many story lines, considering the coastal and island settings for the game. Plus, my hovering characters can get some good height distance in those maps.

I often include one of the smaller (relatively speaking) cargo ship maps for my arcs. I never make them defeat all. I usually don't leave my arcs up very long, so you aren't seeing my cargo ships, but I assume a lot of other players like them as much as I do.
  13. I wish. You can find them hanging around in the AE buildings, but they're not available for missions, the slackers.

I'd love to be able to use them for missions. I can come up with very close copies, but they take up a lot more space in the file that way.

Note that by based on I basically mean I make RCR but it's in COH. Story, characters and all.

    [/ QUOTE ]

If it's copyrighted/tradmarked material, then the arc could be reported and banned. If you keep doing something like that, you could be banned too.

On the other hand, if the source is obscure enough, it might never get reported. I've never heard of the console game in question before, but there are a lot of console players around here.
  17. If I could see the number of AVs and EBs in arcs, I would be much more tempted to try other players' arcs. As it is, I'm sticking to my own creations.

    Specific Maps

Sadly, a lot of unique maps were removed due to spawn point issues. I really want to use the Baby New Year mission map too.

Currently I have a custom group composed of the following mobs:

    Minions:
    Rikti Monkey (30-33)
    Rikti Monkey (30-30)
    Rikti Monkey (30-30)
    Rikti Monkey (30-30)
    Vicious Rikti Monkey (38-54)

    Lieutenant:
    Custom NPC 1 (1-54)

    Boss:
    Custom NPC 2 (1-54)

In the mission I also have two patrols of monkeys, and an ambush of monkeys.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Are those all in the same group? I suggest splitting the custom characters in their own group. If they're all together, the group will be a 1-54 group. A group consisting only of the monkies will be 30+ and should set your level range the way you want it.

The only purpose of playing your own Arcs solo, that I can see, would be to rate your own work and I find that unethical.

    [/ QUOTE ]

You can't rate your own arcs.

Reasons for playing your own arcs after publishing:

    1. You enjoy it (I've had a lot of fun going up against my own custom creations).

    2. Quality assurance/testing (No matter how polished an arc is, there's always a possible typo here and there that you missed the other bazillion times you went through it).

    3. Inspiration (improvements to my arc have occurred as a direct result of running through the current version and getting ideas in the process. Actually experiencing the play-through helped in better determining where the story should go).

Every play-through of your own stuff has the potential for granting insight, even after publishing.

    [/ QUOTE ]

One of the main reasons I play my own arcs is because I know I'll enjoy what I make.

A reason you didn't mention: personalizing arcs for characters. I can create missions designed for both their character concepts and their capabilities. That can greatly enhance the roleplaying aspect of the game. In fact, personalized MA missions may be the only way that I'll be able to enjoy playing my Kheldians in the future.

I usually test my missions before playing them. Even though I don't leave most of my missions published long, I do like to clean up any glaring mistakes before I play them "for real". Plus, I can pick up some badges for playing in test mode.

Is there a trick to getting my custom groups to show up? The first two I made show up, but the third does not, and it is the only one with bad guys in it. :P

    [/ QUOTE ]

There is a glitch that often makes the latest group you created not show up in the list. If you save and exit the editor then bring it back up, your group should show up in the list for the objective. However, you may need to do the same thing for other objectives.
  22. My first priority is to unlock all the unlockables.

After I get everything unlocked, I'll start spending on enhancements. I'll buy the bronze IO rolls, invention salvage, and possibly even SOs or DOs if the character is short on inf. I'll sell any bronze recipes I can't use at a convenient store for the inf.

I'm glad to see a positive response to the pack. The high collar cape & hood from the 2nd pic, is also available for the female. Enjoy!

Oh good. I was wondering about that. Very much looking forward to this stuff.

It sounds like I might not be able to make use of the Tarot deck from the description, but the rest is great.

Is there an icy-map? My friend was looking for one to top of his big arc, and I played it and agreed. He has a tech map right now, which was the closest he could get to any type of icy-feel. Can anyone help?

    [/ QUOTE ]

I had a thread devoted to that topic some time back. The answer was: No. The Baby New Year mission map and the Frostfire map both have a lot of ice, but neither are in the Mission Architect. No other icy maps available.

Personally, I really want to use the Baby New Year mission map for at least two of my arcs.
