Quote:TBF, this exploit has been around and widely known since before AE came out of beta, so publishing the fix the day it's ready is not really an issue.Exploits need to be fixed immediately, I can't imagine the devs' in this game finding a fix and then waiting, at most, a whole week for the maintenance window. They kind of have to be fixed.
I am the same as you, I find these random downtimes quite irritating and in my schedule but I guess must is must.

What I don't understand is why when the EU/US servers' maint was combined, it was moved 2 hours earlier. I have PMd Avatea and pointed out the issues this is causing, particularly with US/UK and Aus shifting the hour in opposite directions thus putting maint in the middle of prime time during the northern hemisphere summer. -
Quote:Illusion control attacks also ignore positional defence.Mesmerize is a positionless psionic attack - it only checks against typed Psionic defense, which makes it a bother for many characters. (A basic guideline is - if the power can be found in the Mind Control powerset, it's likely positionless.)
Psychic Scream, on the other hand, checks Area-of-Effect defense as well as typed Psionic defense - to avoid it, you'll want to work on the AoE numbers. (Looking at the above guideline, you'll note that it's not in Mind Control.)
You could always step out of granite and use the lower armors plus minerals which will make you bombproof to psionics, but more vulnerable to the other stuff. -
Nope, different AE exploit, but patches have been on Weds as often as Tues for a while now, and exploit patches go on whenever they're ready.
I'm thinking that the Aussie community is going to be screwed in the Northern hemisphere summer unless they move maint later, and even though I'm a Brit, will be PMing Avatea about this. -
Quote:AAO is calculated from when you cast a power, so run into the groups to build AAO, then use LR.I know that the boards are flooded with requests for ElecMelee/ShieldDef builds, but so far I'm seeing a lot of the phrase "the cost is no object". I'm a recent returnee from a decent length CoX sabbatical, and I feel differently, because I am super duper poor. My query is thus: What kind of build can be put together for this character without breaking the bank?
As far as I can tell, the most important thing will be softcapping defense. By using Char and Ring of Fire as prereqs, it seems like I'll be able to pick up some very effective sets for defense, and even post-nerf, BotZ still seems like a functional addition to the build. I'm pretty open minded regarding choice of travel power (or just Ninja Running), and I suspect that the build geniuses on here know more than I do about power choice.
This doesn't have to be an end-all farming build with capped recharge, just a solid build that will be able to stand tall after drawing huge aggro from a Shield Charge or Lightening Rod. I'm not too proud to use generic IOs to cap his important attacks. He's currently in his mid-levels and starting to get his really great powers, so I figure that I should start putting bids up on the Auction House.
Also, as a side query, does the damage from Against All Odds apply to Lightening Rod and Shield Charge, or is damage calculated from the point at which it is cast? Just curious.
Many thanks,
-Zombie King
How big is the bank you don't want to break ?
I'll see what I can put together if I know the parameters I'm working with. -
There is a big difference between having a sub par build, and having a build that is so bad it endangers the entire party.
Example - Having an empath defender with only your starting attack is sub par, having a tank who hasn't taken his mez protection at level 40 endangers the whole party if he's the only tank.
I've never seen anybody kicked for the former (although I know a couple of people who would kick for that), I have for the latter.
Making somebody else's build without understanding how you're supposed to use it is one of the worst things to do, and sadly a lot of people do this. -
Quote:Didn't move, started before the Euro servers existed as did most of the Euro players I know on the US servers, and simply didn't transfer over because I had too many toons on the US servers at EU startup time.I wasn't suggesting more servers...just give us more slots - it's only fair.
If like Minotaur above players have moved stateside to get more alts (something that I once considered and I know players that have), then this disadvantage doesn't help our population in any way.
Just to illustrate the point, when you first join the game each server comes with 12 slots. Based on English speaking servers that's 24 slots for the EU and 132 for NA. I have paid out for 20 extra slots (at a cost of about £25), yet despite that I'm still 88 slots behind those that our American friends get for free. -
I'd go for Fire/shield or elec/shield scrapper and plant/cold controller.
I'm guessing you'll be playing fairly casually, where many players use expensive IOs, shield with cold shields should be close to soft capped for defence from soon after you get SOs. Plant is a really fun set with an AoE confuse that comes early and is up every fight. Fire and Elec melee have excellent AoE which will help aggro handling. -
Yeah, but they lower the max inf you can transfer off market to 99999 again. Yes I can buy from you for 2BN if you have a week to spare ...
-
Quote:Indeed, I have 168 toons on my US account and would like to get my hands on the 2 Euro servers for more.Another factor to consider is character slots, both english speaking servers are full for me and I've bought extra slots in the past, where as NA players have 11 servers and therefore tons more potential alts. Yet I pay the same subscription rate, how is this fair in any shape or form? Yes I love my alts.
I already had 75 or so when the Euro servers were created which is why I stuck on the US ones.
Would be nice to be able to play with the Euro crowd as well (I'm in Norwich and I'm aware there are a load of other players from round here on both sets of servers). -
Quote:Please, if you're going to prearrange something like that, publicise it, and there wouldn't be a load of us standing around waiting for lili to log on to see what's happening.Master of Cuda went very well tonight. 1:42min? something like that.
By the time that had happened, interest had waned and I couldn't get anything else organised. -
Quote:And how many pickup groups do you ever meet like that without the ego tripper and the AE n00b.The perfect team = 8 players who:
- Know how to play their chosen character well
- Don't do terminally stupid things
- Know how to adjust and adapt tactics on the fly based on what is happening around them
A team of ice/FF trollers below pet level might be a tad dull. Safe but dull. -
Not saying which of the two, but quoting me talking about Posi's blast and making it look like I'm talking about BotZ doesn't win you friends. Do you extract quotes from film reviews for the posters for a living ?
-
I already sort of do this.
When midrange salvage prices get stupid, go to ouro, exemp to 29, go to DA.
Go hunt - kill zombies. -
Quote:It has 6.25% rech which none of the melee damage sets have and some recovery. Most of the bonuses for 2-5 are useful.Posi's blast is horrible; the bonuses are crap, it's acc is low, and it's damage is in no way ED compliant. And the 6th slot bonus and proc are bleh.
It's the Ghost Widow's Embrace of damage sets!

My habitual slotting is 5 of them + a rech, or Acc/dam and dam/rech, acc/dam/end and dam rech, 2 from posis, 2 from detonate with a recharge if I have the slot spare (and a force feedback proc if it's a scrap or tank's energy torrent).
The bonuses are not for everybody, which is why we need more sets, but I like them on many of my toons. -
The set was OP. I never slotted any as I haven't tried to do a high defence squishy yet, and I'm not paying the necessary cash for my melee types for KB protection I don't need.
That said, there are some builds it screws up and this can lead to the reslotting of 30 IOs quite easily, so multiple freespecs would be good.
I can see a number of melee types that softcapped without weave resepecing into it and that will make a right mess of some builds.
I think the reason Castle went public was because some people in the beta leaked this out rather than make a vast profit themselves.
And to Sat Hamster, posi blast is fine, could just do with a couple of new sets for targeted AoE.
The only people I feel sorry for are those who spent thousands of merits buying these for a build, that is a very large time investment wasted. -
Quote:Which I did.Minotaur, the last update had a warning to download the program directly from the site and not from within the program. I did update from the program and it was all screwed up too, so I uninstalled it and downloaded it again, working fine now
Actually all the update did was to randomly turn PvP mode on, now gives the right lower numbers. -
Quote:It looks like the latest update to MIDS has utterly screwed things up.Wow how did you manage to get all those resists, especially 60 to neg, 69 to s/l and near capped f/c (not that I care much about f/c)? Is it a Tanker with PvP IOs or something?
What's showing as my totals does not relate to what it shows the constituent parts at which seem to be the right numbers.
I should be at the basic Elec armor + tough values except for fire/cold resist to which I have +4.4%.
Manually checking the defence, that seems right, weave + CJ + 5x3.75 (ToD/Oblit)+steadfast +3x2.5(Ti arm) +2x1.875(multistrike). -
Quote:If the blazing aura gives you issues, suppressing close FX will solve thatI actually just rolled an SS/ELA, for whatever reason the pulsing on blazing aura gives me a brain cooker of a headache. I have energize down to a reasonable 35s recharge, and footstomp at 6.xx seconds. I'm just hoping that the middling resists are enough to hold up. If sapping were as effective on mobs as it is on players I wouldn't hesitate :/.
-
I'll be watching this thread, I put together something with 41% melee, 26.1 S/L others 11-15 (AoE 18) but with resists up at 60 for neg 69 S/L/psi and 73.5 F/C of course capped to energy. Only weakness is to toxic.
Can't make up my mind whether to have fitness pool or CP/PP and a proper travel power (or maneuvers which would get me close to the cap for melee).
Mine is in the high 20s atm. -
Even more confused now, ran a sister psyche with a 23 leader and everything set at 25-26 so it appears to just be Manti that's out of line. May try to run another one to check this.
-
Northern task force on Freedom has been around since launch or very soon after (was certainly well established when I joined in July 04). It only has one active member outside of free reactivation weekends (not me, I have toons there but never play on Freedom atm).
Eurocore on Victory has been around since launch (several met in the beta) and is still active. One of our leaders has been in the SG since 2004 (I didn't join till much later). -
Quote:Succeeded this last time, leader claimed to have clicked the last glowie while deadAware that it was coming, I've actually succeeded at it the last two times I got it from the contact, once on a Dark/Psi Defender and once on a DB/Regen Scrapper. Amusingly, the Scrapper was set to +2/x6, and I wasn't planning enough in advance to have lowered my spawn sizes. That really made it interesting. (I did it on the Defender before the new difficulty settings, though it was on Invincible.)
I've been on a large team that succeeded at it once. That was pretty cool. -
Have had a series of odd occurrences that I can't make any sense of, so trying to get clear how this works.
A few weeks ago, ran a numina (cap=40), leader was 38, missions set at 40.
Also some time ago, ran a Virgil (cap=20) with a level 18 leader, mission level was 20 and exemped players stayed at 18 even when the leader levelled.
Just after the last patch, ran a manti (cap=35), I was leader at 34, mission level was 34.
Today ran a Virgil, but I was SKed not exemped. Went from 17 to 18 when the leader levelled to 19, but stuck at 18 when he hit 20. Missions were level 20 throughout.
Yesterday ran a Katie Hannon, I formed the team, passed the star to the person who could start it, they talked to Katie and we did the first mission, exited and the first mission still showed as active (and indeed somebody was able to reenter). The person who started the TF couldn't talk to Katie. I did, and the mission switched to the second mish of the TF, the team display changing to me at the top, with the starter still having the star although indented on the team menu. I had to do all the subsequent talking to Katie.
I understand some of this like the difference in behaviour on the 2 Virgils being due to the fact that if you're at the cap for the TF as leader, SKs are to your level -1 whereas if you're above that, they SK to the cap level.
What I don't understand is why heroes and villains seem to behave differently and the Numina and Manti behaved differently. -
It's not designed to hook marketeers, it's an aid to people who just want to try to IO out their toons rather than make cash of the market.
-
Quote:As eryq says, this is the nub of the problem, being able to bid over a range for one item where you only have the cash to bid for one is where this really gains.Something needs to be done. Especially if it's a high priced item. To leave 5, 50-100mil inf bids in "hopes" that someone gets one to sell across several diff pieces gets expensive.
Quote:As for limits to prevent Marketeers from hoovering up all the "good stuff"? Well, I'm not too concerned if one slot can already be up to ten items of a single level and the new bid is only one item (of a ten level range). Same either way to me.
