In fact, I'd say it's one of my favorite toons (DP/MM), now only if it fit the concept I had for it (DP/MM fits perfectly, but the squishiness doesnt).
Slacker before the last round of XP boosting, exemped XP, the XP slider changes and before AE existed, my SG took a team from 1-50 doing normal content between Friday evening and Sunday night of a double XP weekend, about 40 hours play Fun but exhausting. We just basically ran TFs, it would be soooo much easier now as you wouldn't lose the XP we lost at the end of some of the TFs.

I don't play him often, but will never delete him as that weekend is a very fond memory. I was basically the tank on a kat/fire scrapper.

It's a chicken and egg thing. There are people that want certain IOs, can't find them and then 'give up'. Because there are no buyers, there are no sellers. But the problem and the solution starts with DEMAND. When players start to pay nine figures for mid level IOs and that gets reflected in the history, other players step up to supply those IOs. But as long as people get discouraged and walk away, no one will be incented to create the suppply.

That's why these mid-level IO projects are ultimitely futile. The created IOs transact for amounts too low to move people off of the default behavior of supplying primarily level 50 IOs.
Depends on the IO. Many IOs (other than procs/specials) should be more expensive at 50 because the enhancement bonuses are bigger, and most people don't think like me who wants to IO at lower level to get the set bonuses on the way to 50, so they just IO at 47/50.

You're right it's a chicken/egg situation, but I think you can fix either side of that equation to fix the other. I used to roll at 50, but have recently taken to rolling at 33 then again at 50. I'll be interested to see what if any effect A-merits have on this.

I've long advocated being able to bid on a range of levels to avoid tying up enormous amounts of capital and slots, I think this would seriously help this situation also.
  3. I like the idea of being able to acquire the PvP IOs by a non PvP means even though they're horrendously expensive. I'll just play a long game and get them very slowly and slot them, they'll never hit the market. I just have better uses for 2-3 BN than spending it on one IO, so have never bought any, and never PVP so haven't dropped any.

One thing that isn't clear to me. How does the whole alignment system work in a team environment ? Do you only get credit for your own tip/morality missions, or do you get credit if you're on a team with the owner ? I only solod in the beta as I was on at like 4am US time, so never found out.

Random Rare Recipe Roll: Divided into tiers of 5 levels (10-14; 15-19; etc...). You get 5 recipes for 1 A-Merit
Is this truly random ? ie rare pool A/B/C ? or does anybody have a feel for what you get from this. Sounds like a research project coming up.

Right now, the perception is that mid level IOs aren't worth producing. And they're not - outside of your mistake, why would anyone bother for a low eight figure payoff when they can do better at level 50? Until there is sufficient amounts of influence thrown at the market to make it, not only comparable, but better to produce and sell mid-level IOs, don't expect the situation to change.

But it's not because the supply isn't there. The game does a pretty good job of letting people choose what they want to suppply. It's because the sustained pricing isn't there, and that's a demand issue.
A misunderstanding of the point I was trying to make. Supply is so low, that people who really wanted the IOs at a lower level, go away and buy them at 50 instead because they really can't be bothered to wait 3 months for the next level 33-38 one to turn up and block 6 market slots because you can't bid on a range of levels.

There is plenty of demand, but when you see none for sale and the last one went a month ago, you tend to move on. I placed an accidental "extra zero" bid on an obscure but very rare mid level pool C recipe, but not one appeared when I left it up for a 21 day "day job cycle", and the 9 figure bid would have snagged any that was put there.
  7. I actually played all 53 of my 50s to get there, so feel an attachment to them and won't delete them even if I don't play them. The free server moves at Christmas allowed me to make some space on the servers I actually play on atm. I have 170+ toons on one account, and would love to use some of my extra slots on Victory, but I have 36 in use there.

The highest toon I deleted was a mid 30s dark/axe tank which just wasn't working, so I remade him as dark/SM and that worked much better.

Another period of free server moves around GR would be really useful, otherwise I'm not going to be able to really create any praetorian toons on my main server.

It always seems like a PL to 50 then IO set.
Actually I usually IO mine in the 30s, and at that point it feels like you're PLing yourself to 50 I can live with my set IOs being 35-40 and it exemps better that way. I tend not to slot purples in mine as I want the sets that give defence.

Not sure, maybe PM the mods ?

One thing I discovered recently that may be of use to others (I've already PMd Zortel with this).

If you're looking at a longish train journey with at least one change in it, try booking it in parts, it may be a lot cheaper. (I used trainline.co.uk)

    eg: Norwich -> Birmingham = £65.90 return

Norwich-> Peterborough and Peterborough -> Birmingham returns, 4 advance single tickets can be done for £20 total for that weekend.

Like Solo, team, farm, tank tfs and solo AV's or am I asking the impossible?
How much are you prepared to spend on your build ?

If you want to solo AVs and farm and team, a tricked out FM/shield might suit you. Elec melee will do everything except solo AVs well, dark melee will do everything except farm well. Not sure what SS will do on the AV soloing front, but that's good at all the rest.

That experience translates directly to brutes in that they can be built comparably.

If you brought the FM brute's accomplishments into the tanker forum within the context of being better or comparable to elec or war mace, then yes, that is a point of reference for how FM functions for tankers. Since the AT mods change but the powersets do not, FM should compare to ELM in more or less in the same manner on brutes and tanks and scrappers.
This is slightly disingenuous in general, but is fairly valid in the particular case of your tank in that the reason your tank is so good is the softcapped defence, and most of that comes from IOs which are unaffected by AT mods. The problem is that what defence you do get from powers will reduce, and you'll need to slot more IOs to softcap, so you may have to compromise the build somewhat.

<nitpick> FM DOES of course change from tank to brute combustion -> cremate.

Endurance sustainability is possible even on a dark/SM which I did as a tank as I didn't fancy having no fury, I am softcapped to S/L too.

While I think a dark tank can be as good as any other, a brute might not be as good as some other sets on the same IO investment, but can still be pretty powerful.

My April 1 amusement would have involved checking bids for IOs that don't exist and filling them. A number of people bid on level 53 set IOs to store inf above the 2BN cap.

  15. Not sure I'd want it, but they might give the hordeling self rez, bit of a waste of a power but a cool animation.

Chilling embrace is not really suitable, only dark armor has aggroing toggles, and they also incapacitate.

I don't see a problem with ice sword circle, as people have quoted, spine burst and lightning rod are in already.
  16. I petition names that are offensive immediately, I have friends who have kids that play this game.

Ripoffs I will petition if blatant. Bruce Wayne with a pretty good batman costume for example.

I've had several toons generic'd, but none as ripoffs.

It appears any form of drug reference is taboo, so Steroidabuseman a 4' tall 4' wide character with a vehemently anti drugs bio got done. I wish they'd specify this in the EULA as an area that was off limits, given that I've seen many "Ganjaman" or equivalent toons.

Debbie does Talos - which got more lol tells than I've ever had (and I have a lot of pun names) was guilty by association.

The oddest one was The pocket rocket, which has connotations in the US that it doesn't have here in the UK. I appealed with evidence, the nickname has been used by several small dynamic sportsmen here, boxer Wayne McCullough probably being the most recent, and I knew the phrase from there and as a pair of aces in Texas hold'em. I got the name back.

A friend had Kupid Stunt generic'd, as I think they object to spoonerisms, but this name was actually a running gag in a sketch show on prime time 1980s TV over here (youtube it, the late great bearded Kenny Everett in a basque with a ludicrous set of false b00bs as a chatshow guest), so surely can't be that offensive.

Err no, the old school posi was a one piece, there is no second half.
  18. Only 2 SGs I won't have on my team, different names that I'll keep to myself, but both could be called "Clueless fire/kin farmers" who were absolute disasters on normal missions. This was pre AE, but AE babies would describe what they produced.

Thanks for the correction, somebody in the distant past possibly maliciously said that the paragonwiki site was shutting down and moving to the wikia site, so I adjusted my access to there, from which I moved on to the CoHtitan one.

No don't, paragonwiki.com hasn't been updated for ages, the cohtitan version linked to by Memphis Bill is the correct one.

So just now I got out of a mission from Angelo Vandetty, and I had no debt going in, and I now have 3600 debt. I did a quick search, and for lvl 10, the debt cap is 1000. And I have 3600 debt? Something weird is going on. Even after killing a few mobs, I still have that debt. I'm not really sure if I am actually in debt somehow, or there is a graphical bug. I don't really understand what is going on.

    I've filed a bug in-game, incidentally.
Are you sure it's debt rather than patrol XP ?

If it's debt, when you kill something, you should get a message along the lines that you gained X experience, you paid off X debt, are you getting those messages ?

Debt should be impossible to get before level 10, so I suspect you're getting patrol XP, which is x1.5 XP and you get about 1 bar for every day the toon's been logged off up to a max of 10 bars.

Definitely tank, you can more or less softcap on SOs with a steadfast res/def.

Scrapper is much more expensive, but ultimately better.

Yeah, Birmingham is a pain from Norwich since they removed the direct train service, Nottingham would have been a whole lot easier.

Although I don't recognise the 9 hours of train travel unless you're not actually coming from Norwich: For the Sat 0757 -> 1138, 1922->2318 so 7hrs 45 ish for similar time at the event, I think this will count me out too, as I'm already going to have to fork out for that same journey for my OU study weekend a couple of weeks before.
  25. I run the freakspec at +4 on a semi regular basis, that takes away much of the time between waves. Will probably do the same with the riktispec.

The other thing they need to fix is the spawns of -2s that turn up, as any set that mitigates through KD, sprays them all over the walls.
