Quote:Most teams can do Kahn. You need one debuffer and something that can take aggro. Those are pretty minimal requirements for an 8 man team. I've tanked him at various times on a PB, spines/fire scrapper, brute and seen it done with PA.AKA an exceptional team.
Saying any or most teams can do it is a lie.
Barracuda needs a MM/def on top, and a way to deal with the ambushes, and is actually difficult for many teams. -
Quote:I've done about 20 of these this week, and the tank/brute/kheld has pulled the AVs in to join reichs every time. It's varied as to whether we've killed reichs or the other AVs first, depending on team composition, but the tank has always dealt with both. It doesn't take an exceptional team. That is a rather exceptional team. Rad is a good debuffer, everyone was +1 and had rares...
We tried that on our team last night. It was okay till the second psi AV came out and decimated the stone tank and everyone else.
If you go into this with no buffs and debuffs and an inadequate tank, you will suffer unless you're very good, but most reasonably balanced teams can cope. -
Any team that can do Cuda can do Kahn, the reverse is not true, Cuda is much more difficult, we failed one because a team that could easily cope with Kahn, had no MM/def, and insufficient debuffing to take more hits off Reichs than he could get back in his invulnerable period, but enough to take him out otherwise and shut his regen down if not invulnerable.
Cuda should award more merits, period. -

I think I've quit 3 TFs in 7 years and thousands of TFs.
One, somebody back in the day insisted on running posi on invincible, and when my level 12 tank realised he couldn't stand up to 1 level 17 vahz minion, that was time to get out when the leader refused to turn it down and reform.
Another I had warned the leader before I joined I had a problem with storm graphics particularly hurrincane in that they make me ill. The stormie seemed to delight in standing next to me and hurricaning so I quit.
The third, yesterday, we'd done a barracuda after I warned the leader that we had no MM/def and very little debuffing, so would struggle with Reichs, and after we'd fought him for the best part of an hour, got rid of all the ambushes, and found we could take him down to half hits, he'd go invulnerable back up to 3/4 rinse repeat 6 times with no overall progress, I gave up. -
Quote:I petitioned, and in response they updated the page, the answer is around 8am central (sounds like when the first person arrives in the morning).Has it been explained exactly when the clock ticks over from one WST to another ? Midnight Eastern, midnight Pacific ? does it require maint to do ? While this may not be relevant to Americans, it certainly is to those of us who play when most sensible Americans are asleep.

Quote:Actually that's not a facepalm, she's laughing her head off because some grey con just kicked states in the nutsYes it is EMOTE_FACEPALM, and as you can see, Ms. Liberty does in fact have it unlocked. (Linked in case the graphic won't load...)

Yesterday 11 Kahns, all 27-37 mins. Best time for STF was 47 mins, I did about 11 of which we succeeded 8 not always with appropriate teams, although one of the STFs succeeded only due to raiding a couple of bases for every sensible size orange and purple
Not crazy fast but reasonable.
Going to take me a long time to get my chosen 25/61 50s incarnated out. -
One of my SG experienced this on Victory, forget exactly when, maybe 2pm Eastern.

Also depends on your level. I quite often run levels 1-10 in AE. The only sensible use of tickets at level 10 is to bronze roll them, because the -KB IOs are a relatively common result and sell well, and you have a small chance of the regen tissue and kismet uniques. Just roll the tickets, delete the crap unless you have a lot of patience, and craft the good ones.
At 50, you have the full choice, bronze roll at 10-14 (lvl 30 steadfast res/defs, the two -KBs and a few other useful things), 30-34 (what you can get from 10-14 plus some other useful things that start at 15 or 20, but in a larger pool of recipes), or 35-39 (to get a load of useful uncommon IOs that you might want to use, and where the average non stellar uncommon will sell for more.
A-Merits if you have the patience, I feel it's most lucrative to buy the PvP 3%def IO. I bought 3 of these for 30 A-merits each, and sold them for 4BN each via the market forum. To make the same $/merit off LotGs, you'd need to be selling them for 295M or so with market fees.
Ordinary merits, either roll them or convert them to A-merits.
If you decide to get into bronze rolling, I'd recommend levelling a load of alts to level 10, not necessarily on the same server you normally play, and using them to sell the loot. You can either use SG storage or email to get stuff to them, and they can send the cash back. -
So last night we're trucking through an STF, (not hurrying, we'd already spent maybe 75-90 mins) get half an hour's notice of the hotfix, finish the mission we're on and it being 2130 here, abandon CoH for the night.
We reassemble tonight to find that the power of the thorn temp required to damage Doc Aeon has disappeared, it's set to expire in 5 hours of real time not 5 hours in game unlike most temps.
So giving us inadequate notice of the downtime (if they'd told us an hour earlier we could have speed run or abandoned), just meant we had a completely wasted evening.
I also play in a set group that not infrequently pauses TFs part way through to continue the following week, why is the STF designed so that you can't ? -
Quote:Was also originally posted on these boards saying "This week STF/RSF, next week ITF" with no details for weeks after that.Next week was never the ITF ... the overview page uses a what if example for rewards.
Now, can anyone tell me if the WST rewards are time based ? IE its 7 days until you can get the rewards again? or is it once per WST ? IE I could do a WST on Monday, then get the rewards again on Tuesday ? -
The WTF is no longer ITF for next week, look here:

Well you effectively got access to a 5th pool with inherent fitness presuming fitness was one you previously took.

I wouldn't mind the option of taking 2 or 3 slots depending on level instead of a power, some of my toons would happily do that.
The other thing I wouldn't mind them doing is moving the first epic/patron power to 38 so you can pick all 5 if you want them. This would help out toons whose level 38 power is rubbish, and would not cause a problem with villains as they get granted a respec when they acquire their patron powers, and having powers you can't access at the level you can use them without a respec already exists in game with VEATs.
We don't need more slots, even if we'd like them. -
Quote:Thanks for answering this, I asked about this precise situation in another thread. It's the difference between having one flag as to whether you've had the rewards or two.Okay, this isn't necesarrily a "bug" so much as it is something that is wrong and bad.
My Stalker ran the WST before getting his ALpha Slot unlocked, cause he was 49 and it was what people were running. He got his double merits and pushed to 50. Then I unlocked his Alpha slot. The next day, he went to Paragon and ran the OTHER WST, with his new incarnate slot unlocked... ... But he didn't get a Notice of the Well.
Now, it seems to me that it makes sense; It simply checks to see if you've completed the WST this week or not, and if so, you don't get the bonuses. That said, because so many WILL be pushing to 50 via the WSTs (because they're the only TFs being run), it seems wrong that doing this prevents you from getting a notice the same week.
My suggestions: Either give people the option to delay their WST rewards so they can wait until they have incarnate slot or, more simply, change the flag on the Notice so that it doesn't count as given if it failed to award in a previous WST -
Quote:If you use both end reduction and damage resist for example it will give you a whole lot, you'll go from 33 end/20 dam res to 45 end/20 dam res, and you will probably be slotted such that you gain the full 15%. There are similar combos in the other trees.I don't think the Very Rares are worth it.
Looking at the numbers for example, it looks to me the biggest leap in power will be going from Uncommon to Rare simply because of the level shift.
In the case of a character I decked out with an Rare Musculature, they'll only gain maybe 4-5% more damage moving up to a Very Rare, if my numbers are right. Unless the Very Rares are sporting a +2 Level Shift (un-freakin' likely) it seems very anticlimactic considering how much more the Very Rares require.
IMO, they're just not worth it unless the Very Rares ignored ED completely or granted an additional level shift or something.

Quote:Exactly this was the question I was aking, with the alpha unlock in between.I think the idea was if you're 49, you run the WSF and THEN hit 50 if you run it again would you get the notice of the well.
I've not heard of anyone doing that, but given it's a once per-week per character sort of thing I'd imagine you'd have to wait until the next week to get your notice of the well.
Technically the question was effectively "is there one flag for the notice and one for the other rewards, or just one flag for the lot".
Edit: the answer is in http://boards.cityofheroes.com/showt...=1#post3463652
You definitely don't get the notice. -
Has anybody tested this scenario ?
I am not level 50 yet, I run the weekly TF. I get the bonus double merits and XP.
I run it again having hit 50 and unlocked my alpha slot, I understand I don't get double merits again, but do I now get my notice of the well ? or have I already had my weekly TF special reward. -
Quote:It would be epic without the bug.The Strike Pack is epic. That is all.
I've done the STF more times today than I have in the last six months. This seems to be intended.
78 month vet here, I've done a STF and a RSF, both for the first time in 18 months or more, SG team on the STF, PuG but with some fairly serious players on the RSF, I think 90 ish mins for the STF, 64 for the RSF (and we didn't have a mind dom, so fought 7 of the 8 at once after a single pull on numina).
They are doable, but you have to be capable of assembling a team that has enough of certain things to give you a chance unless you are very very good (and I don't claim to be in that bracket). People have done all scrapper STFs, but I wouldn't recommend them. -
Final tally:
Yeti's Bride (ice/MM blaster) 1-50 and incarnate unlocked
Neptunium Knight (rad/fire bla) 42-47
Wind up merchant (KM/shield scrapper) 1-10
Stone cold kitty (stone/cold troller) 46-48
And about 1.5 BN made on the markets.
Not bad, and I was out most of Saturday. -
This is shockingly bad news in fact. Having to verify files every time you hard crash is going to lead to a lot more people missing the end of TFs and the rewards. At present being able to skip the updater means I can get back pretty quickly without verifying.

Quote:It certainly used to be the case that SG/VGs weren't available till you left prae, presume it still is, although with the gates to PD now I'm not sure.Howdy - just reactivated my account and upgraded to GR. Haven't played since 2006 - coming back now to take a break from WoW.
I used to live in the US, then moved to Hong Kong for work, so I play on Perth/+8 time now.
Still getting reacquainted to the game, so many things have changed since I last played. Need to figure out what playstyle I like - there are just too many power pools to choose from.
All of my toons are on Liberty but none of them are above level 15, so I'll just roll some new ones on Justice and see if I can catch you guys. Would be nice to be in a SG/Guild just to hang out, and occasionally ask for help on those difficult bosses in the starting zone.
Just a quick question - I assume SG/VGs are not available to Praetorians until they decide to become either a hero or a villain?
There are SG/VGs called Sentinel and Sinister, which will give you teleporter access. Ask in the Australia channel if anybody's on that can give you an invite once you escape Praetoria.
