Quote:Or you could try mindscythe@w00tradio.net, Jester, and spell my name right. You'd think after all this time... but no.If you have an event in game you'd like to have a w00t DJ attend or want to join our staff of volunteer DJ's, send an e-mail or PM to mindsctyhe@w00tradio.net. Mindscythe is a long time member of these boards and is handling all our new staff recruitment and event planning.
Also join up with the "w00t Radio" global channel to chat with DJ's who are in game as well as other listeners! But other than that, yes to everything that Jester said.
And hello! I'm Mindscythe, and I've been with w00t since just after the CuppaThon (that's how I discovered w00t). My one claim to CoH/V-related fame prior to joining w00t was performing and publishing the voice-overs for The Radio missions Red-side (They're still up at http://profj.org/theradiospeaks/ ). Those little recordings are what landed me the gig at w00t in the first place, I'm proud to say.
At this point, we have live shows every weeknight, and we're looking for more voices to add to the mix too! Check out the weekly DJ schedule to see who's on when.
And, while Jester and the other DJs cover a variety of games, I'm a dedicated CoH/V DJ, a resident of the Pinnacle server (drunks ftw!), where I'm frequently seen stumbling around in search of requests, so feel free to let me know what you'd like to hear when I'm on air. When I'm not (or even when I am, actually), you can always request songs from the w00t Radio request pages. Our goal is to have every on-air DJ's song library linked to that page, so you'll always be able to browse their library and request whatever you want from it!
It's great to be back! -Mind -
You know you're on Pinnacle when...
You read someone's response, and the very first thought through your head is "Man, someone's freakin' hung-OVER this morning! Take some aspirin and chill!" (not directed at any responses in this thread, btw) -
And a hearty "Get the hell off my lawn!" from Pinnacle's grumpy old man.
Nice to have the forums back. Still getting used to the new setup however. -
I'll have my 60 month in a couple weeks. I'm thrilled that it's going to earn me a closed beta slot! That's a vet reward like no other.
-
We have a few MIA due to a certain *other* closed beta going on (we think), but otherwise, drunken business as usual.

I'm sure that the subject of Mastermind Pet customization has been discussed ad nauseum, but I came up with what seems to be a workable plan to do it, since the necessary pieces are now in place.
With all of the options in the AE for custom critter design, and now color customization for pre-designed NPCs, it seems a relatively minor leap in design to cross-implement that into mastermind pets.
I see the process working thus:
When creating a Mastermind, you would still start by selecting one of the existing primaries, but then you would have the option to customize the appearance of your pets. This would be time-consuming, yes, as you'd have to pick specific designs (no more random appearance) for each of the six pets, but once you did, said choice could be stored client-side (like AE costumes/custom critters are).
Option 1 (Good): You could choose from a pre-defined list of already-existing NPC models, which would then be applied to the appearance of your pets in-game. This would allow people to have female pets (an often expressed wish by those I know), other hero/villain groups, etc.
This could also be an option at a tailor (take your pets for a makeover) to allow you to change their appearance (so if you had thugs, for example, and you switched sides, you could have your thugs join Wyvern, or Longbow, and take on that appearance).
Option 2 (Best): You'd have option 1, but also have full access to the custom critter designer, and you'd be able to make unique pets. These costumes would be stored client-side, and the data pulled upon pet creation. This would allow for a variety of themed masterminds (such as SG-themed MMs, RP-themed MMs, etc.)
All of the code is already in the game, so it would be a matter of adding the AE code to the character creation process. I'm an avid fan of the Mastermind, and I've been thinking a lot about the impending side-switching, and lamenting that I couldn't have a Mastermind become a Longbow Commander or something along those lines with other hero groups.
Letting players customize Mastermind pets would allow for that type of theme-creation without undermining game balance, since the pets, regardless of appearance, would still be using the pre-set power pools.
This idea I humbly submit to the Devs in the fragile hope that such a thing might someday be possible. Thank you. -

Oooo.... so cold, Evie... so cold...
Happy Birthday, Jim-meh! And don't worry, the folks at that link are at least friendlier than Evie.
(Or so I'm told, not that I would have any first-hand knowledge of such a thing... what was I talking about? Penguins. Right. They're cute, aren't they?) -

This makes me very sad, and extremely disappointed. Oh well, live and learn I guess. -
Happy Birthday lady! Many happy returns, and here's hoping you can make the next M&G (whenever it happens).

I don't get it... is there a drink called that?

I'd have to say Mindscythe is the coolest I've come up with. He's a mind/rad troller with an ambiguous grasp of morality.

New from w00t Radio:
Have you got an event planned in-game? Would you like it announced on-the-air? Or would you like live coverage and music to go along with it? w00t Radio will announce your event, and is also available to cover and DJ live events!
If you'd like us to announce your event, or schedule live coverage of an in-game event, send a PM to Mindscythe that includes<ul type="square">[*]The time and date of your event[*]What server the event is taking place on[*]What type/genre of music prefered (live coverage only)
and we'll work with you to get your event on-the-air and/or arrange live coverage! One disclaimer: We can't promise to cover every event (it's dependent on our DJs' availability) or to guarantee the requested type of music (music selection is dependent on the DJ's private collection, and not everyone has every type of music), but we'll do our best!
We're setting up a "Community Calendar" of sorts of in-game events that'll be announced on-the-air periodically throughout the day and night, so if you have a re-occurring event, or a one-time event, and you'd like us to announce it, we will!

Greetings all!
Well, vacation's over, and that means I'm back and so is w00t (back to its normal broadcast schedule that is): [u]The Theatre of the Mind[u] is on now, and will be on from 8am-5pm eastern, Mon-Fri, and [u]The Madhouse[u] will be on from 7-11pm eastern Friday night.
Also, look for new shows starting in the next few weeks! -
One quick w00t Radio programming note for June 17-19:
[u]The Theatre of the Mind[u], and [u]The Madhouse[u], will not be available during this time (DJ Mindscythe and Mrs. DJ Mindscythe will be celebrating their 10th wedding anniversary), but will return starting June 22nd and June 26th respectively.
DJ Otto has graciously agreed to fill in (he loves the extra air-time), so you'll still have commercial-free music 24/7, and fully requestable as well. -
It wasn't the government, actually. It was those greedy [censored] over at the RIAA. But yeah, it's been dealt with.

Hello, I'm DJ Mindscythe, and I'm that station manager for w00t Radio.
"Hi DJ Mindscythe. w00t Radio? What's that?"
w00t Radio is a streaming radio station catering to MMORPG players around the globe. While our primary MMO is City of Heroes/Villains, we provide music for anyone who likes and plays MMOs.
"Ok, so what kind of music do you play on w00t Radio?"
All kinds, actually. Our resident host, the mad German DJ Otto Plair, has a wide variety of rock, with some novelty and comedy tracks to spice things up. And our specialty DJs play their personal collections, so there's no telling what kind of music you'll hear!
"Specialty DJs? Who are they?"
Our specialty DJs are the people who make w00t Radio shine! For example:<ul type="square">[*]On Tuesday nights from 9-11pm eastern, you can listen to DJ Crymson Pleasure's [u]Tanker Tuesdays[u].[*]On Wednesday nights from 9-11pm eastern, DJ Nor keeps you movin' and groovin' while you're movin' and groovin' in-game.[*]On Thursday nights around 7pm eastern you can listen to the live recording of the long-running and popular [u]Jester's Court[u] podcast series, hosted by DJ Jester, w00t's founder.[*]On Friday nights from 7-11pm, yours truly, DJ Mindscythe, steps behind the microphone for a little show I like to call [u]The Madhouse[u].[*]Plus, every weekday from 8am-5pm, listen to [u]The Theatre of the Mind[u] which is all movie and television music. 650+ scores and soundtracks, over 5700 tracks!
"So how do I listen? And can I make requests?"
We love requests! Go to http://www.w00tradio.net/ and click on the "w00t Radio" button (at the top on the right) to get to the requests & listen in page! Some shows are set up for web-requests, but you can always chat with the DJs and make your requests live! w00t Radio has its own chatroom/instant messenger program, the wRIM (w00t Radio Instant Messenger). You can download and install it from w00t Radio, or use the web version on the w00t Radio site (no installation required). Plus, most of our DJs also run other instant messenger programs like YIM, AOL, MSN, and X-Fire.
"Do you take requests in-game too?"
Otto takes requests only from the website. DJ Nor takes requests in the wRIM. Crymson Pleasure is a WoW player, so she takes requests in-game there. I'm a CoH person, so anytime I'm on and in-game, I definitely take requests there! In fact, w00t Radio has its own channel in CoH/CoV that you can chat on as well. Search for w00t Radio and add us to your favorite tab!
"Are you accepting DJ applications?"
Always! The more voices we have, representing the entire MMO landscape, the better! Just send an e-mail to mindscythe@w00tradio.net that has information on the show you'd like to do, and a short demo attached/linked (in mp3 format if possible) that shows off what you can do. It's that simple!

I chose Radio FTW over w00t on the mere fact we use a different system for requests.
[/ QUOTE ]
I didn't know you were interested in DJing on w00t.
[ QUOTE ]
I run my YIM and game with limewire while DJing so even if I don't have a song atm, I can go find it and place it on the playlist. also on YIM I can recieve files if the person has the song they want played already.
[/ QUOTE ]
w00t has the w00t Radio Instant Messenger, the w00t Radio channel in CoH, plus whatever IM programs the DJ's want to run, and we can transfer files via X-Fire (which I can highly recommend btw). Plus, Jester figured out how to have a web request page that shows everything we have in our libraries, so people can surf stuff.
On the other show, we have a chatroom on the web, we're on Faceboook and Twitter, and we have a page on the website with the entire library for the show so people can look to see if we have the song they want to hear.
In either case, we do a lot of interaction with our audience.
And yeah, they're just talking about w00t as a preference. I am the official "slave DJ" of Pinnacle on Tap, so they're used to listening to me since they can tell me what to do and I do it. -
I won't be able to listen, I have a show of my own on Tuesday nights.
Good luck with your show tho. -
I inherently distrust anyone with the middle name "the."
