It's best to put some in when you start upping the difficulty. Stuff at an even level doesn't give you much of a problem at all. Fluff hitting it on a +2/+3 mob & kiss solids good bye for 6-12 months
.
I'm getting an annoying glitch in PVP where I'm not seeing the visible signs on a confused enemy. I've been told that I'm landing it landed ok, but I just don't see the efect visibly, which can be a right pain in the [censored].
-
I had it on my robots/traps MM, unfortunately the activation time & your total squishyness means that when you think maybe you should use it, you're already being carted off to a Basic Reclaimator
.
I respecced it out. -
I'd like just a little something to up the defense on my traps mm. My little forcefield is more like a soap bubble
. I don't want anything uber, just something that gives me enough time to get the hell out & spam aid self now and again
.
Other than that I'm having fun learning to trap & ambush, even if it is ridiculously hard to pull off. I think I can hospitalise 1 hero for every 5 or 6 times I go myself
.

Spines/Regen, why just take the boss down, when you can take it all down?
+2s, pffft /em slap 'em. I'm hungry & they don't fill me up

And if you've been reading this threat I hope you all got inspired if nothing else. To be open minded and make Defiant a more pleasant place to be!

Indeedy. Although I don't have any complaint with the community as it is, it's gutting me to see so many leave.
Perhaps if these feelings are out there, I think I'll personally make extra effort to ensure we wouldn't be considered this way, & that all new players find a good home in what is a indeed great & fun community. -
In all honesty, some of the people who have expressed a preference here towards tending to team within their supergroup have sold themselves a little short. One of the posters here invited me to the Synapse taskforce. I'm not in his supergroup, & we're more loose friends in that we've never actually teamed on missions before, to my recollection, but we've talked a whole bunch of times, done some pvp with/against each other, I've asked advice etc & I think we know we're both pretty good players & fun (I hope
). It wasn't even a case that they needed someone to fill the team as the minimum for the taskforce was already met. So although people here are admitting they tend to gravitate towards the supergroup or close friends, I still see plenty of teaming outside of that going on (ironically, I couldn't make the tf, as I'd already promised an SG buddy some help & teaming later in the day, which was a shame, but hey, like I said, would love to next time around
).
I haven't seen evidence for myself of any overtly cliquely behaviour going on. I'm certainly not particualary interested to know about it or feed it if it is. Should there be any groups like that out there, then I'm happy that I'm comfortable in my own group, & the really good friendly groups we're coaltioned with. I totally agree with the point that it's important to differeniate between insular & what you'd deem cliquely.
Yeah I do prefer to grab a team within my supergroup & known friends. We hear about risk vs reward all the time, & with the time available to me & what I'm likely to get out of it, yeah, the little risk of teaming within my group & known freinds or regular team mates & getting the fun, good team reward that gets things done is often a much more comfortable option vs the big risk, team with complete stangers & the sometimes zero reward of the team not working out at all & ending up having a fairly horrible time of it. Not the greatest approach, no, but in all honesty the most likely at any given time.
I'd find msyelf teaming outside the groups a lot more if the invites I got were for somethinng around about my level & I got told a little about it rather than the blind invites that get spammed out, cos unfortunately my mind reading skill needs no nerfing at all it sucks so much.
Bizzarely there are just some players who seem to think they can log in & a great team will fall at their feet with no effort from themsleves, & bugger me, do you hear about it if it doesn't happen. I don't get it at all, as with just a little effort & respect when asking I've rarely had a problem getting a team together off the team search menu.
In all honesty I think there's been a lot of grabbing of the wrong end of the wrong sticks here.
Edit: Now I got to see Dead Calms post. Listen to him, he is wise, & right, & I forgot where I was going too. Nite.

I have people on my global friends list I havent talked to in weeks. Why? Because they havent bothered to talk to me.
[/ QUOTE ]
Maybe they're thinking the same thing? 'He won't talk to me so I won't talk to him'...

I think Empath is spot on, & makes the point I'd agree with the most. It's an unfortunate knock on effect from having great facilities like global chat channels. Unfortunately as arena & public chat just got ever worse I think a lot of people have given up on it ever getting better again & retreated into reliable channel groups where people act civily, are fun & friendly & have a good laugh or share common interests & views. I have to be honest & say for sure that I've taken out arena & broadcast chat as nothing has got better, despite the complaints made by us all as a whole here, & the petitions we've surely made as individuals. It's not like I don't want to interact on public channels, I'd love to, it's just not worth the bother, when I can easily click open my sg & coaltion channels & find a relaxed fun environment to participate in with no interference from players who find it fun to swear, harrass & grief. I'm sure other players find the same thing. Things just evolve from there. You grow with those you play with most often & those who become real friends you want to spend time with, & unfortunately you tend to hear little from the great people you used to chat to, and they're just doing the same thing, gravitating towards people they tend to play or interact with the most.
It's also unfortunate that, at the other end of your screen you just simply cannot tell what someone else is up to. They could be afk, in a hectic team situation, already participating in an invloved conversation, or even just having some quiet time to chill after a really nasty day at work. It's hard to not feel it sometimes, but no answer doesn't have to mean someone doesn't like you, are ignoring you or something.
I've gotten the wrong end of the stick sometimes myself, but it pays big rewards to simply make an effort, ask the person you're concerned about, find out how they are etc. It's easy to get things distorted at the other end of a keyboard.
It's not so great when you haven't heard from people for a long long time & all you suddenly get is a load of tells demanding something & then a load of grief because of circumstances that mean you just can't drop everything & run help kill this or that or start someone a team so they can get some levels. No one wants to feel their gametime has to be soley spent being moaned at about how this or that is rubbish.
Obviously, with any community, there are those who behave dubiously or you might consider to be generally duplicitous or nasty, but it's really unavoidable in any environment. I think it's a little early to say Defiants community is terminally ill or something. I can name a whole bunch of people I've rarely spoken to or teamed with, but have recently done so, & had a good time & hopefully shared some fun.
I personally really enjoyed the community & recent server events that have happened, & I've usually got something enjoyable out of it.
Anyway, I'm not sure I even made sense there.
Go hunt. Make friends.

Grats to the man, & zip, zap & zop for getting to 50
.

Man,... how the hell did we do it,...and er... why
?
Seriously I never want to see Terrigol again, ever. I'm to to Warburg so I can go nuke his [censored] out the face of Oranbega once & for all.
Grats all tho', nice one.
-
Definitely Coin, we all grabbed it not long after you went...would not take long at all, & I know the other guys would happily chip back in to go for it with you.
-
All I want to know is will completion of the Trial give a nice shiny badge?
Otherwise I can go buys inps for loads cheaper, & I won't have to worry about the Echelon bar being dry because a bunch of tykes snuck in & nicked all the beer & stole the ciggies from The Echelon ciggarette machine. -
Yeah I guess
. Just been trying to catch up with all the dinging that's been going on. I had a quick peek & really so confused after all the Christmas chaos, I couldn't remember if Mack' got his rightful props or not
. Oh well, good players deserve their props twice
.
Sorry if this is a repeat thread. -
And yeah, the really cool people & good laughs & fun make this game awesome
. I don't think I ever want it to stop
.

Woot! Another SG peep hits 50!!!
Really chuffed for Fluxy, who put in a lot of work to get there. One one the best players I've been teaming with since the start, & one of my best ingame buddies, & co-founder of our illustrious group. Well done matey! All the aggro & debt didn't stop you finally getting there
.
Last few months in the SG have been really cool.
Thanks to 'Flux, Mack', 'Kitty, Aingeal, Call' & all the others, the Liberty Legion & all our coalitioned Faction for the great teams & laughs.

Just wondering what people consider the best way to find a supergroup to join.
[/ QUOTE ]
Team, team & more teaming imo.
Depends what you want from a group. Now I guess people will hanker after a massive group, just for an uber base & devices.
Personally, always, I look at a supergroup as a bunch of really cool people to team with, have fun & a laugh, & a share a common interest in the way you hope to play the game & the kind of things you want to get out of it.
Our group came about from nothing more than a handful of people that enjoyed playing & teaming together, enjoyed working the content & having a good time, & also had the same ideas about how to act & play ingame, with consideration & respect for other always. We were tiny for ages, but now we're usually full to capacity, & building a nice base & getting devices is a bonus to what have now grown into good friendships.
Meh, sorry, it's a bit of a half baked answer. It must be frustrating sometimes for new players when everyone you see is in a different group & you have no idea about what the group is like & how active it is etc.
I'd suggest teaming, & asking the people you get teaming with regulary about their groups & see how it fits with what you want. Will probably be more rewarding for the longterm than just jumping into a group for the sake of it, but hey, you're always free to leave & jump around eh? -
Ummm, yeah that was a bit ranty.
Well, I just think we have a pretty good community & it's a shame the minority have enough of a platform to impact it. -
I feel bad for the sheer volume of petitions I'm logging at the moment. I'm guessing result, or no result, someone has to go through them all... well I hope someone does.
To Mr Petition-Logging dude, I'm really sorry...
...but... with the situation currently where it is with arena channel abuse, harrassment & offensive language, I don't feel I have a choice but to keep filing them.
Every night, same old characters, same old abuse, and when anyone politely asks them to desist, a whole load of flack comes their way, with a bunch of moronic bandwagoning idiots joining in.
The dumbest thing I've seen on arena, or anywhere ever, was when someone says they pay for use of the channel in the game, so they can say whatever the hell they want...Almost as dumb as being told not everyone has the arena channel open so it's ok to harrass, swear or grief all you want, and if you don't like it, tough, take the channel off...
The absolute idiots that I have no respect for at all are those who spam it all night with griefing, retarded swearing, & harrasment, then cave in & lick boots when well known or respected players ask them to stop & say "Oh... I'm just having a laugh I'm really sorry...", and sure enough back to it before very long at all. Jeez, if people insist on acting like [censored], can they have the backbone to stick by their convictions & don't try some crappy sob story as if it's all some mistake. These people prove nothing more than the fact they are liars, as well as idiots.
Can one of these idiots please go make "Liars and morons" global channel & take it in there. Go swear & lie to your hearts content away from everyone else.
/ignore /ignore /ignore... more space for my ever growing list please.
Sorry about the rantyness of this.
