The arena has a much nicer setup for 1v1 battles, and we should be getting hero vs. villian functionality in Issue 7.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Hehe... if the arena actually had a good user interface you'd know this is available now. Heroes and villains can use the arena together.

The problems I see with the arena are the horrible user interface and the lack of choice in combat settings. I like the arena overall, just listing the downers.

One thing I am curious about, though, is why they just don't remove xp and debt in the PvP zones.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Because it's part of the game. In particular it's part of Siren's Call. In the other PvP zones the NPCs aren't such a big deal. Siren's Call (at least on Champion) is the most popular PvP zone. So why would they change it? From the Dev's point of view it's the one that seems to be working the best.

Debt really isn't that big a deal, you work it off pretty quickly in PvE, so I don't understand what all the complaining is about.

Fight Club is an effort by players to impose rules that aren't supported by the game itself. As such it needs to be policed by players, you can't expect the Developers to do it.

If people are doing something the Devs disapprove of, they will change the game to prevent it. From they're point of view, any other ruling than the one Cuppa has give us would be a nightmare to implement.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I agree with all that, but don't see what it's supposed to be saying that hasn't been said.

This thread reminds me of every political dispute that has no concrete answer.

One side is the jerks and the other side the victims and whichever side you're personally on is the side against the jerks.

I would rather them raise the XP for it would get more people on the ground or in the zone....

My personal preference is to leave it, but I desire to have the forum wars reduced even more. I'm for any solution that doesn't turn the PvP zones into an arena.

Nether and Shotty are right. The forums are starting to suck because personal preference has turned into name-calling. I like chocolate, you vanilla-loving jacktard! Bah.

  5. I keep running out of time to do this, so I've resorted to the lazy version of posting how I'm currently slotted:
    Mr. Malice

I'm a prestige banker, so I suffer in the influence dept which explains the empty slots.

I'll probably drop repulsion field and move the slots from force bolt to something else.
  6. Whoah, sorry I missed the post, Bob.

As for my build, as soon as I get home I'll get it posted. I'm not happy with a couple things that I will be changing. I don't have everything slotted like I want yet, mainly having to do with how the game has turned into a prestige banking marathon.

I have since taken repulsion field, which I regret, and aid self, which I don't. I should probably get an update to this guide going. I'll get back to you on that build a little later today.

    And welcome to the forums!

So, we've got a Trekkie, expert on sociology, declarator of obscure knowledge, a ginormous e-peen inflated from three decades of gaming, and a well meaning OP in this thread.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I've always wondered... with so many experts floating around the internets, how the heck does it hold together under so much inflating ego?

    [/ QUOTE ]

It doesn't. We're slowly all floating away
  8. Hehe. Ok, I can take out e-peen.

Just seems to be a lot of taunting going on in here for very little reason. Lots of opinions presented as facts and a lot of people pointing out errors in others' posts that they themselves are making.

Is it too late at night for anything productive to come of this?
  9. So, we've got a Trekkie, expert on sociology, declarator of obscure knowledge, a ginormous e-peen inflated from three decades of gaming, and a well meaning OP in this thread.

Since no one has an opinion and just all these provable facts to throw around, I was wondering if one of you could let me know if Coke or Pepsi is better.

Vigilance however, was NOT an idea from the forums and proves the difference between a player suggested inherent and a "developer compensated" one.

Good observation, _Ilr_, and all too true.
  11. Really good post, Buffy!

My into to PvP was landing on the ground, jumping into a pile of Arachnos with my invuln self, and having Quason 1-shot me.

I don't think I closed my mouth for a good 10 seconds. I really do like the personal responsibility you have to take in PvP now.

    Badge Questions

Since I'm usually one of the first to scream about poor service from a place, I thought I better even that out a little.

NOT A FANBOI, but I think it's supercool that Posi's answered so many questions here.

  14. There is actually a villain on Champion named Dr. Monologue. He believes his robots are reincarnations of his cats which died in a lab fire... talk about insane genius!

When whirlwind is on, your toon does the whirlwind animation, and no other animations. The end effect of this is that your blapper is not rooted in place during the animation time of attacks. So drop Total Focus, Bonesmasher, whatever, and you can keep moving the whole time.

    [/ QUOTE ]

  17. I've never faced whirlwind before, I was wondering if it provided stealth or something.
  18. For my guide under robot masterminds (Mr. Malices Malicious...Manual) I meant to note it's I6.7 compliant.
  19. I recently happened into Warburg and ran into a blapper. I'm still not quite sure what happened. I'm Rob/FF, btw.

I had all 6 bots out, upgraded and equipped, and as he started getting closer I ordered them to attack. He had whirlwind, ss, and sj on but I was in the middle of my bots FF'ed out with Repulsion Field up, trigger finger on the greens just in case.

Well, he slipped in, 1-shot me with a punch, and was out. The bots just sat there as he came in range like they didn't receive my order or couldn't see him (tactics+assault was up, btw).

Soooo, I thought I'd play it safe the next time. I got the bots out again, equip+upgrade, and this time I put on personal force field and hover (each 3 slotted with def SOs). Got in range of the blapper again and ordered the bots to attack. Nothin'... they didn't budge and I didn't get a targeting error message. The blapper evidently saw me and 2-shotted me with punches through PFF and hover, no problem.

I'm guessing he used Aim+Build Up but he was in the middle of a big battle both times. I want to beleive that's the only possible solution BUT it doesn't explain how or why my bots ignored him and it seems unlikely I'd happen to be the guy that got the Aim+BU blast both times.

Any ideas? Aside from "don't get seen" is there a counter to that?
  20. For someone who's primary language isn't English, this was an awesome undertaking. Good points, lots of knowledge in here, the spelling's not that bad, and, for crying out loud, this is only your 5th post!

Great job, thanks for the contribution!

This is a known bug. According to QA, it's related to having the shivan shard temp power (there might be other things that cause it, too, but this is what they've been able to reproduce).

I forgot to ask... I stopped reporting this after a couple of months. Should we still report this every time it happens?

Yesterday I was running the missions in Bloody bay and three times I ran into a disturbing problem...

When zoning in from COV I ended up someplace other then the villan base.

One time I ended up in the forest to the east of the base and twice I zoned in directly to the city, once with a hero no more then 20 feet from me!

Luckily I go in with shields up and managed to run, choose a mission and enter the mission door before he could touch me.

    Is this a known bug?

As someone without the temp power and still zoning in at seemingly random places (usually closer to the hero base, rarely on top of mobs) I can say that there must be another factor.

My MM has never gotten the temp power and zones in the correct place around half the time. My stalker, who HAD the power sometime in November, always zones in incorrectly.

And lastly, who pays attention to others badge lists? Honestly.

    [/ QUOTE ]

There's a whole culture to badge-itis in CoH/V. Vidiot and Paragon Information Center both have websites dedicated to nothing but badge totals, badge hunting, badge status, etc. It's important to some people, especially level 50s with nothing else to do but run around killing 100 of this, 333 of that, or hunting down the last monster they need to complete a set.

Not saying you need to understand WHY it's important to them, but you should understand that it IS important to them. And it is a decent sized demographic as evidenced by the two sites above.

I think someone said something to this degree earlier, I wanted to agree with it. How about an "old timers" badge for toons created before i2, it would be mutually exclusive with isolater.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    I wouldn't mind that.

    [/ QUOTE ]

This might be a stupid question, is Isolator the only badge (excepting special event badges) that a character misses if he's pre-I2? I hit 30 just before I2 and am wondering if there's anything else I may have missed.

I checked a couple sites (Vidiot's badge site, PCIT) and there seems to be conflicting answers.

I saved these just before the CoV Beta boards went down.

Maybe someone better at this stuff than me can desconstruct them into something searchable, but for now, you'll have to settle for a TOC approach to getting a hold of them.

I've posted them before, but those posts have scrolled.

Anyhow, you can find them at
