Hopefully it'll be some kind of auto-power...like Hybrid only not completely lame.

Quote:Yeah part of the animation is cut and the rest is sped up, that's the only difference.I always thought Titan Weapons' animations had alternates depending on whether or not the character has built momentum.
I guess I was wrong, and it's just a sped-up animation.
I too think this could be kind of neat, would certainly make things feel a lot more dynamic. -
Quote:I'm aware of this fact. I still want the badge. If you couldn't before the arc, you probably still can't after it's done, I don't see Lady Grey spending the energy to make her spell permanent when a shorter duration would do, to me she seems rather efficient... Of course, if you wanna RP that it WAS permanent in your case, I'm not the spell-efficiency police!

Wow lots of madness in this thread.
Now, i've been looking forward to Staff since it was leaked ages ago. Got a concept all ready for it and everything. I'm annoyed that it hasn't come out yet, but not to the pont of 'OMG I'll never buy it because you suck Paragon' or anything like that. I just wanna make my magical girl who hits things with sticks.
Likewise, I have little to no interest in Beast Mastery or vanity pets. But I'm not angry about either thing, I just grown with disappointment and save my free VIP points.
But even though I didn't buy Beast Mastery, and likely never will because I just can't get into playing a Mastermind, and kudos to those that do, I am disappointed to hear about how it was released in such an unfinished state from those who know way more about the game than I do. I think that releasing a buggy, underpowered set looks worse than releasing too many sets at once or whatever.
But on the upside, I'm really enjoying my Dark/Dark Troller! -
Quote:I think that only the round part in the middle of the larger ones would be used, and it's likely not an option that would be available for all of them.Given how detailed many of the badge icons are, they'd be pretty incongruous with existing chest details. I question whether the costume system can handle items that high resolution, or with that color depth. They'd also need to be "stretchable" based on body sliders and size, or cape physics or what have you, depending on where they were to be usable. Finally, most of them are a fairly uniform size and then a couple of them are freaking gigantic. V.I.P., I'm looking at you.
And yeah, there would be a bit of technical work involved and it might be limited by the costume system's resolution.
But it's still a pretty neat idea. Heck they could even put in the option for it to display the same way your SG emblem can be turned on or off. -
Quote:Yeah it's not just the Spectrals. The Ruin and Madness Mages showing up on teams make it even worse than when soloing. this is the same reason the end of Posi Part 1 is so hard, but at least you don't have the issue of keeping someone alive then. That's because of a heavy CoT presence in parts of the arc.
CoT are actually weird in that during the lower levels due to a heavy presence of Spectrals the fights can quickly become catastrophically hard. This declines in the higher levels as Spectrals become less common.
This Spectral Threat becomes even worse on teams.
"Gather Intelligence" is the most blatant lie of a mission objective, with Lady Jane around. -
I'd still like to see a new HEAT sort of like the VEATS, for a Paragon Police Department AT. In fact it'd be a lot like the arachnos soldier with the separate paths, Psi-Op, SWAT and Hardsuit. the Psi-Op would ironically end up like like a Fortunata with powerful psychic support behind the basic guns. SWAT would give you lots of control tools in addition to your guns, like the infamous glue mortar, tasers, etc. Heck it'd probably end up a bit liek firing trick arrow out of a gun, having assault rifle attacks and some traps. And then the hardsuit well....I just really want to be in a hardsuit because those are awesome, but they'd be very blastery on attack, but with defenses backing them up rather than the melee of a blaster.
I think a lot of people would enjoy it, though reconciling the hardsuit attacks that emerge from places like it's gauntlets might make for the same issue of the crab spider backpack, but people have worked around it, I'm sure they could work around that. -
Quote:I have to agree with this, from the late 20s til 35 blueside it seems very slow, mostly because everything is so samey. Even though we recently got First Ward for 20-30 content, it didn't actually last me that long when I played it.I do wish they would revamp some of the old zones, like the way they did faultline. Perez would be nice, but it would be nice if there was more content 30-40 for blueside. Thats when i always hit a wall in leveling my toons, seems like all the old blueside contacts don't hand out story arcs nearly as often as they should. I mean redside every contact gives an arc almost 99% of the time on the first mish they hand out.
Zones i think would be nice to revamp would be like boom town, perez, kings row (one of my favorite looking zones, just nearly no content there), founders, and bricks. Really wished these zones had more consistent contacts/story arcs like all the redside zones have. But i gues it really depends on the budget the devs are working with, would be nice though.
I've said before that I'd love to see the same sort of thing that goes on in Recluse's Victory, that is parts of the map changing dramatically due to player actions, put into play in a place like Boomtown. It might have to be slower paced, or utilize the phasing tech introducted recently, but I think it'd be pretty exciting to play through a few arcs and have the zone change based on your progress. Sure it'll be a bit awkward if you join a team in another phase and see your progress melt away, but it's one of those things we've come to accept.
And in addition to just having the zone update via mission arcs, there could be, depending on what stage you're in, semi-random events in the zone, with villain groups attacking your recently established beachheads and the like.
Sadly there's no equivalent redside area to do this with, unless we're going to let Arachnos start invading someplace...like say the ruins of Galaxy City? -
I too would exchange real currency for this virtual service. It's not as bad running it on a melee toon, but anything else is nightmarish at the intended level, even more so on a team somehow.
-
I enjoy one of the badges from the new DA Arcs myself, and it's a challenge if you're solo and NOT a +3 incarnate. Sometimes I'll pick one that sounds funny, sometimes it'll fit the character.
But yeah Katsumi Tatsumaki Knows No Fear.
But I want a 'Can Breathe in Space' badge from the SSA1 Finale. -
Quote:This is one small instance that that other so-called 'super' mmo did better. I think it's just better to think of that INF number as resources you can call upon. A mixture of cash, favors and their own prowess expressed in a quantifiable manner.Influence, Infamy, Information ... It took years and the advent of the Going Rogue era to finally bring the reality of what these are to light. RPers swear, and many still do, that the influence they earn is the respect they get from the citizens of Paragon City.. or the fear they instill in the Rogue Isles. And for a number of years this was the same stance the dev team took.. Super Heroes don't get PAID to do their job. And then GR hit and while rumor here on the forums was if you switched from being a villain to a hero all your Infamy was lost and you started over earning Influence. Then the issue went LIVE and what actually occurred.. As soon as you stepped from one side to the other your INF magically transferred into the appropriate CURRENCY for your location. Delude yourself how ever you like but INF is CASH and even the devs now refer to it as such. I can buy an enhancement with my influence in Founders Falls, short cut through the RWZ, and purchase inspirations in Grandville. I'm sorry but even before GR the old thinking never made sense... I go to the tailor shop and order a new costume at say 30 level. When its ready I PAY for it with influence? Now run to the mall and grab a pair of jeans and a shirt and tell the clerk you don't have any cash but feel you deserve these becasue everyone in your neighborhood thinks you a great guy/girl. Then wait for security to come and throw you out. LOL
Just as an example, my main, Kastumi, doesn't really carry cash with her as a matter of course. She lived on and punched people on the streets of Galaxy City til it got itself blown up, and now, a few months later, she's punched her way out of the gullet of a death god. She has a crapton of influence, but still doesn't really carry cash or a credit card exactly. But she's gotten stronger and smarter, and has made friends with powerful people. One of her costumes is armor she cobbled together while cleaning up striga, ICly. OOCly? She went to a tailor like everyone else.
Sure it functions as cash, but it's an abstract just like most of the rest of the game. My robotics MM built her own robots and used her own resources to do so. My energy blaster created her own implants to fire energy bolts. Inf is whatever method your character uses to acquire things the way I see it, whether it's the 'favors and goodwill' that's the canon blueside explanation, outright money, scavenging and improvisation or what, it's just an abstract.
Not trying to disagree or anything, just wanted to put something out there about how I see it.
As for the rest of the topic at hand, I have a mix I guess. I have some characters who are expressly from CoH, and others who aren't Some come from paralell dimensions or alternate futures or whatever. Like my Stalker who was born and raised in space around a high-gravity world. When she ended up in paragon, a lifetime of living under high gravity means she moves tons faster in Earth Gravity. Stuff like that.
Some stuff I use or ignore on a character-by-character basis. My Arachnos Huntswoman isn't empowered by the Well when she uses Ion Judgement, she's actually modified her rifle to fire giant bolts of electric pancake. Her Lore pets are actual arachnos reinforcements. And she's gone full hero and has the Arachnos file-pushers convinced she's on a deep cover assignment. -
Personally I took Longbow. Mostly because there's something very satisfying about coming up to an end of arc EB in DA and dropping a giant robot on them before proceeding to punch them into oblivion.
-
Maybe a small shield over the heads of the pets that are in bodyguard mode/range? A text alert like hidden might be nice, but it could also be nice to see which pets are actually in range.
That or some sort of indicator in the actual pet window near the health bar? not something you'd have to expand their buffs list to see, because on a team it would just get lost in the huge list of buffs. -
Quote:Okay, so whether or not you have the power only works for those who haven't confirmed their starting alignment. In that case i could see there being something to notify you. Perhaps on the Tips tab itself, just a text notice, rather than a whole new icon?No for the purposes of "confirming" your alignment the alignment powers don't matter. To confirm your alignment (any alignment) you have to complete a morality mission -as- that alignment. So for example to confirm being a hero you have to do 10 hero tip missions and a hero morality mission as a hero.
Yes you would have to reaffirm an alignment any time you change alignments or if you had a brand new hero or villain that has never changed alignments. -
Aren't you confirmed as long as you have the relevant alignment power or the 7-day cooldown to receive it?
Or do you have to re-confirm if you go from one extreme to the other? -
Man Steelclaw has the right idea. We can already buy jetpacks straight up for Inf, why not put all these temp powers into a couple 'Armory' stores spread out, and let them stack? They'd be fun and useful, and you could take them out of Recipe drops. And sometimes you'll find more charges on appropriate mobs. Amazing.
-
I'd love to see some new animations get spread around. SJ's Rib Cracker would be perfect as another alternate for MA's Cobra Strike, for example.
But the option of having Staffs and other stuff for origination points for powers could be interesting, only issue is that blast sets that don't have weapons are balanced around not having redraw, which opens a whole new can of worms. -
Quote:The Base License and pre-made bases aren't a bad idea, but paying real money for individual base items seems like a bit of a stretch. Please provide a base license around the price of an Invention or AE license for Premium players. In other words, I can pay rent and start a new SG. Or you could even sell them like character slots with no base upkeep. I would also be interested in buying pre-made bases as well as individual items such as teleporters, control and power. Hopefully, if bases would see more direct revenue then we can get some true base love.
-
Does anyone? I think the only one I've ever encountered being used is the backup radio, and then only rarely.
I only ask because I'm rather tired of getting all excited for a Rare Recipe drop only to see it's a temp power that I'll never use and doesn't sell, and could have been something useful. Does this bug anyone else? What do you think could be done about it? -
I don't mind it at all really. We still get a mix of stuff that's free for everyone and free for VIP, my monthly fees are paying for that stuff.
The other stuff is nice because I don't have to buy if I don't want to. I don't play MMs, so I don't need Beast Mastery. but I'm going to be all over Staff Melee.
Now I only wish I could skip spending reward tokens on things I don't want or use. (Like prestige sprints, the boxing outfit, or the going rogue pre-order bonus I already have) -
-
I had a good time running them on my IOed out +3 Scrapper. I finished everything last night, and there was something very satisfying about Saving the World by punching a God of Death in the face over and over.
I also enjoyed the 'Hey, we've got backup lined up for you, unless you think you don't need it.' And I was all 'Chill out guys, I got this.' And proceeded to Vorpal Kick my way through the Talon Army and the Hordes of Pantheon. Sure I was running at 0x2, but it was FUN. And that's the most important thing. -
Quote:Yeah it's kinda nice not to have to rush out and buy something right away from the market. Though I'm sure being surrounded by wolves in DFB will make up for it.I'm remarkably meh about Beast Mastery. Not because it isn't an interesting set, because it is. I've just never been able to play Masterminds (Mine is level 42, and I started him back when Thugs went live). So yeah, this weeks store item isn't useful to me, but that's fine because I'm sure others will enjoy it
Though I was pleasantly surprised int he last week when i could put the Baron jacket on my female Dark/Dark troller. -
Something I'd like to see is Perez Park turned into a more active PvE zone. Take some aspects of Siren's Call and Recluse's victory and make them PvE. Have the various gangs and the PPD fighting for control of parts of the zone like in RV, though without the instant changes you see there, as well as 'Bounties' on randomly generated enemy bosses like you get on other PCs in Siren's Call.
At the same time, either make the zone auto-cap you like a PvP Zone, or make everything auto-scale like a Rikti raid.
But basically, take some of the interesting bits of the PvP zones and put them in game, sans the PvP, because we know how problematic THAT is.
And I really wanna see the sort of Tech Armor he mentions. I mean we can get pretty close to a Gundam as is, but I wouldn't mind more like that. or some Macross-inspired pieces.
