With reactive T4 proc on ice storm, freezing rain, and the various creeper attacks, I've managed 3M inf/min in AE ambushes recently. I haven't tried the demons recently, but I don't know if I can do as well against them.
-
Interesting that you swapped out to Ice epic -- after reading a few threads raving about Ice Storm, I also switched. :-)
Here's my current build on live, which is pretty similar to what you just posted:

I use both Lightning Storm and Tornado for farming -- in an ambush farm the bad guys come to you, so the fact that it cannot move is mostly moot. -
Quote:All hail the T4 reactive proc! I swapped my epic from Earth to Ice, adding Ice Storm and its many, many ticks of damage. The primary reason Reactive procs are contributing so much damage is that their powers do very little damage, but tick several times per second. Each tick may only do 1 damage by itself, but the reactive proc adds 10 more damage 75% of the time. In addition, going from tier 2 for a 25% chance to tier 3 for a 75% chance of fire damage makes a HUGE difference.

Quote:My Fire/Storm stalled around 41 due to endurance consumption issues. I imagine that better -end/+rec IO slotting and Incarnate abilities would help tremendously with the blue bar.A well-slotted Fire/Storm is only second to a Fire/Kin in farming speeds amongst the trollers. But they have huge endurance problems, and can agg a whole room without even trying. So the safer choice might be a Plant/Storm, unless you like challanges.
Incarnate will cure you of your endurance problems playing a Fire/Storm. In fact, with mine, it seems I can now farm about the same speed as a non-incarnate fire/kin does.
<snip>
If you want a wild ride, go fire/storm. But that is in no way saying a plant/storm isn't as much fun neither.
Plant/Storm is chaos and a metric tonne of fun to play. I have no idea what constitutes top-end farming earnings for Fire/Kin and Fire/Storm, but I generate 2.25M - 2.5M inf/min in the AE with my Plant/Storm. (For comparison, the top-end brutes seem to pull 2.5M - 3.0M inf/min in the same missions.) -
Quote:Here are the complete totals from Hero Stats after a couple of runs. (Three, I believe.) I didn't use Fly Trap or Tornado, so those are excluded. "Bonus Damage" should be the four procs in Creepers, three in FR, and one in Roots.Especially on the plant/storm... Do confused mobs proc reactive now?? I'll have to test on my plant/fire later. I'm thinking this is just because you are a low damage AT, yet have aoes to trigger the procs (also, you left out pet & creeper damage from the totals, those #s are decent on my dom). I haven't run my fire/storm since the changes, but Ill try and do a round with him as well and see where his T3 comes out.

The reactive pet fix supercharges my controller, as Plant and Storm both produce a ton of damage rolls via pets. After the patch, I ran the 999+ vote Fire Cyborg at +4/x8/0 for 2.25M inf/hr, with over half my damage coming from the reactive interface. I can't imagine that's going to last....
Total: 171k
-----------
Ion Judgement: 10k
Roots: 11k
Fissure: 12k
Procs: 34k
Reactive: 93k
Prior to the patch, Reactive Interface did around 5k damage per run. -
Here's my Plant/Storm/Stone build. With the Incarnate powers (Cardiac Alpha, -RES/DOT Interface, +REC Destiny) I run AE ambush farms at +4/x8/0.
I capped S/L Defense and added a metric ton of recharge. Damage procs account for roughly 40% of my total damage in most AOE-centric situations.

Quote:There's a long-running thread on the Brute forum about the "best farmer" that has eye-popping earning rates in inf/minute. The highest numbers I've seen reported by brutes are 2.5 - 3.0 million inf/minute. I wouldn't think even a purpled fire/kin would reach those numbers. Not the best farming character in the world, although I could kick myself for completing the Axis World mission.... great farm map for a Plant troller.
My Plant/Storm controller usually clocks 1.5 - 1.7 million inf/minute on the AE arc they've used as a test bed. Definitely not the best farming character in the world, but certainly a ton of fun to play! -
Quote:Ah, DR. I have many fond memories of that game. Not, however, of the hourly rate I was paying AOL when I first joined the game...I used to play a text based game several years ago that had a very elaborate injury and healing system. Beyond just having "hit points" the system included broken bones, internal and external injuries, poisons, and diseases. Along with it came a character class called "Empaths" who were capable of healing these various things. In addition, there was a First Aid skill player characters could use to tend their external injuries themselves.
-
I also strongly recommend plant/storm. The trip to 50 was the faster and more fun than for any of the other characters, and she became the first character I really wanted to continue playing post-50.
Seeds of Confusion is my every-spawn opener. I think of it as an active defense power that diverts the alpha strike of the bad guys. I get close with Steamy Mist, toss SoC, Freezing Rain, Creepers (if recharged), then I spam roots and fissure until the spawn is dead. If the spawn has bosses or higher, I'll toss Lightning Storm and/or Tornado into the mix. -

I reran the 999+ fire cyborg mission with my Incarnate Plant/Storm controller: +4/x8/no bosses, I cleared the first floor in 4:20, earning 1.63M inf/min -- a total of just over 7M inf for the run.
iMidget Perfection's numbers show he earned just over 10M inf for the run above. So Seeds of Confusion cost me 30% of the total inf? Wow. (Of course, I'm not sure I could survive the ambushes without confusion....)
Clearly, I'm never going to catch up to the *smash* of the brutes in this thread. But it has been fun trying to push my controller to extremes. -
What do you usually turn your tickets into? I've read many people swear by bronze rolls, but it seems like you'd need to roll to the recipe cap, delete most of the recipes, and repeat way too many times.

Quote:So you earned ~9.4M influence in that run, correct? Was this with bosses, or without?http://img714.imageshack.us/img714/6186/farmes.jpg
Completed it in 3:06 for 3.02 mil inf/min. There were 2 enemies left when I clicked the glowie, one of them dying in Burn. That's a good time for me, usually 10 or 15 seconds longer.
If I have the respecs available, I may temporarily try out Mu Mastery to see what I could do with it. -
My Plant/Storm Controller was an excellent ride to 50, and was the first character I really continued playing extensively post-50. Most of her leveling was solo, fighting larger spawns of -1 or even-level foes.
Even with SOs or common IOs, Seeds, FR, Creepers, and Roots can quickly turn large spawns into butter. Against hard targets like AVs on TFs, add Tornado and Lightning Storm for more damage. -
#482818: +4/x8/0 (averaged over two runs)
Time: 253s (4:13)
Inf: 935k/min
Tix: 263/min
HeroStats shows 270 villains defeated -- 175 minions, 44 Lts, 48 bosses, downgraded to Lts. Looks like seeds of confusion (while keeping me alive) ate up to 1/3 of the total influence gain. Lobster earned ~6M inf on this map, I only earned ~4M. Without SoC, however, I couldn't drop them fast enough or pop enough skittles to stay alive.
#423253: +4/x8/0
Did not complete this one at +4/x8. With a more open room, it took too much effort to keep the bad guys in front of me (to hit with the cone confuse) and to allow Carrion Creepers, Freezing Rain, and Lightning Storm to do their best.
#460877: +4/x8/0
Same map as the previous one, same issues with getting surrounded. Managed to draw the ambush spawns around a corner, which allowed me to keep them clustered for dispatch. Still, too much effort and somewhat too hard for my controller to farm this one at +4/x8. -
Quote:I can clear two destructible objects, their spawns, and six ambushes at +4/x8/0 in 5 minutes on my Plant/Storm controller, capping tickets and earning 600k - 700k inf/min. I wouldn't call 6 minutes on a brute slow in the absolute sense, but it certainly doesn't seem as speedy as the 2 - 3 minute times reported by others on this thread.Actaully that brute's farming build is a Elec/fire/Soul with 100 % global recharge, soft cap def with teir 4 recharge. Are you saying 6 minutes on 54X8 fire cybor farm is slow? Please tell me your avg time for that map.

Quote:Great build! One minor correction -- your existing creeper patch will be replaced if you use the power again before the old one expires, so you can't have two out at once. This build is capable of having 2 tornados, 1 waterspout, 2 carrion creeper patches, and 3 lightning storms out all at once.
Here's my current Plant/Storm build for comparison. No waterspout and slightly less global recharge, but it has capped S/L defense:

Quote:I'm a big fan of procs -- my Plant/Storm has 3 damage procs and the -res proc in FR, 3 damage procs in Creepers, and 1 damage proc in Roots. Overall, Hero Stats shows roughly 40% of my damage comes from the procs during a typical session of Diabolic Horticulture.i was thinking about taking two slots off of tough and putting them as two damage procs on freezing rain... would that work well??
Of course, YMMV. -
Quote:My suggested tweaks would be similar:This has been bought up a few times and personally I think it makes a lot of sense within the context of current supply options. The problem is that for any recipes that are generated by merits the supply at levels other than 50 is very slim. Reducing the available levels to every 5 would not fix that but it would concentrate what supply there is which should in theory help stimulate the sale/purchase of those recipes.
In the interested of balance I think if that was done it would be necessary to increase the set bonus range from 3 levels to 5.
- extend set bonus range from 3 to 5 levels
- reduce set IOs to multiple of 5 levels only
- set all proc/special IOs to the minimum level of their set*
- allow merit vendor level slider to determine level of recipe rewarded
*Yes, I know that a level 50 LotG def/rech does provide more +DEF enhancement value than a level 25, but I think concentrating the supply of stuff would out-weigh the (slight) loss of enhancement power in some special IOs. -
Three quick thoughts:
Although it does cost more end/sec than Stealth, I think Steamy Mist is a better power pick.
The periodic heal and +HP of Earth's Embrace is nice, but on my Plant/Storm/Stone I really like Fissure for that extra bit of *smash*.
I'd swich one of the Touch of Lady Grey IOs in Freezing Rain to the ToLG damage proc. Each proc gets two chances to hit each foe in the FR area, so the damage is noticable. -
Quote:In this on the brute forum, several people reported earning 1.5M - 2.0M inf/minute on their farming brutes. Wow. Anyone have top-end numbers for Fire/Kin or other Controllers?+525k/minute is the highest I have seen openly posted. Numbers are posted in the last thread I linked to.
That's a great earning rate you posted. You would almost expect a Plant/Storm to be a good farmer. (God that was an awful joke!) -
Quote:That arc was definitely fun to try with my Controller! I finally managed (in bursts) to get my earning rate to a smidgen over 1M inf/min at +2/x8 with bosses. I'm not sure I can push it much higher, but trying will be fun.3) I don't think it's any trickier than activating all ambushes then killing everything, though some maps do have differences. I personally use #459239 since that seems optimal for me: Has a helper which tosses a shield on you (usually) (since I've locked my xp my level doesn't change, making it consistent). I do -1x8 with bosses (giving me around 1400-1500 (capped) tix).
What mechanism are people using in these AE arcs to get the waves of bad guys? Destructible objects that trigger ambushes?
