I dont get this build. I guess, judging from your choice of travelpowers, you're trying to make a pvp build but pvp'ing with lethal weapons is like trying to take out a tank with two rocks and a nail clipper. Willpower is sorta an outlasting powerset but you will burn out fast with both hasten running and no end redux what so ever in any of your powers. Okay, granted you have some but those are in your toggles. Basically, a rule of thumb when it comes to slotting end redux is that 1 end redux in an attack power is as effecient as 1 end redux in all toggles combined. Even if you got a damage aura in your toggles which are quite expensive it is nothing compared to the cost of your attack powers.
More specifically you do not want any end redux in toggles unless as a last resort. In addition, dual blades is an odd breed, either you drop hasten and focus on having two comboes you alternate between in one seemless attack chain, or you make sure that when you activate hasten you can settle for one combo over and over again, possibly with one extra attach thrown in in between.
You generally slot your attack powers with 2 acc, 3 dam and 1 recharge. This will not work. As said earlier you will burn out of end fast. You need to get a feel of the comboes. While some attacks in a combo might need 2 recharge to keep up other powers in the same combo might need none.
Never ever slot combat jumping with end redux, it costs 0.06 end per second always slot either jump or defense depending on needs.
Dont slot resist in high pain tolerance, those 3 gives what, 1 % more resist? Waste of slots. Settle for 3 heals and be done. The to-hit debuffs in RttC doesnt do much but many like the slots for that anyway, your choice.
Dont waste 40k inf putting anything into boxing, forget you have that power.
If you indeed plan to pvp with this spec you might wanna consider taking medicine pool over fighting. If you do not wanna pvp just remember that immobolizing stuff makes them immune to knockdown and it will be alot tougher on /willpower to keep up, especially just with standard slotting like this.
While I can understand you didnt take the self rez I fail to understand why you didnt take your GODMODE power. It's quite handy for willpower.
Uhm, that's it I think. Good luck. -
With willpower you want a primary that gives you some breathing room to allow your regen to get your health back up. This means that super strength, stone melee, dual blades (via sweep combo), mace and axe are very excellent choices.
You should have absolutely no problems with dual blades so go for it. -

I've actually seen this statement come up quite often. Whether or not it's true I don't know -

Not only do they animate alot smoother now going from attack to attack, but this also means alot higher dps =) Very very nice indeed. -
Are pretty damn sweet, who likes?

I am seriously debating getting the leadership pool so I can get resists to confuse and fear. IF I do that I can't get aid self. Fitness, leaping, fighting, leadership. That's my four pools.
Btw, teamed a bit with a sonic last night, perma power surge mode <3 Damn those sonics are nice. -
The idea was never to tank per se, I just wanna be able to jump in as the first and not die.
Whatever sticks to me trough tremor and lightning field is what I am tanking.. Though I do tend to try to keep bosses off squishies.
-
[ QUOTE ]
What attacks do you have and how do you enter groups? Is it Fault, Tremor then Seismic or what?
[/ QUOTE ]
Hi. I do wanna note that after the respec i mentioned a few posts back it his survivability has improved tons.
As far as tactics go I usually run in and tremor stuff, and keep tremor'ing till all are deadDoing this I did managed to run into a 6 man orange+ carnie spawn and not die even with /afk healer.
After fighting against some nullifiers I definitly think I am gonna go for some layered defenses, either alot of regen or alot of defense, not sure which yet. -
[ QUOTE ]
If you're having endurance issues, do you also use Conserve Power? Anyway, things change (a lot) after Surge
edit: Lightning Field can certainly use 2EndRdx. Or you can get some nice slotting with sets: I have 45% acc 90% dmg 67% endrdx + a dmg and a stun proc + 10% regen from set bonus.
[/ QUOTE ]
I am having endurance problems because I am trying to see how much I can push power sink, so my end problems is completely on purpose. I am using SOs, not sets atm so a slot not used on end redux is a slot I can use for something else. -
So for kicks i just used a respec on him. I dropped aid self which i've had since lvl 14 and picked up tough instead. I also dropped fault (meaning less mitigation). The major difference in slotting is im running with around five end redux in total, four in attacks, one in lightning field. This means I have two damage SOs in each attack now where prior to the respec I had none. So more damage, less control, more resistance.
I solo ruthless much smoother than I did before. In my eight test missions at ruthless I had to use 1 green vs a freak tank. Now with the changes I can almost earn health fighting three oranges. I just need to test it on a team now, see how it goes.
On a side note I'm still working out some endurance issues. I have six toggles (the four elec shields, tough, combat jumping). The first four missions after the respec I ran with just two end redux, one in seismic smash and one in lightning field. Power sink had no chance to keep up. I placed three more end redux in my attacks, one in each of the two mallets and one in the fist. It's working much better now aslong as i can power sink atleast two mobs. I fear this means vs. an AV im screwed. But maybe I can turn off something, like lightning field. Anyways Surge in six bubbles, thats three minutes of no end worries :P -
Hi all. I need some advice :P
I got my stone/elec brute up to 37 and so far he's fun, but also a very soft target. Obviously I don't have powersurge to help in a tight spot but in the end I'd prefer a brute that can take an 8 man alpha from most enemies without having to resort to his tier9.
So. I was looking at ways to improve my brute and I've come up with the following solutions:
a) get combat jumping, weave, possibly maneuvers and slot for positional defenses. In this way he could reach as high as 20-22% defense to aoe, melee and ranged.
b) aim for lots of regen powers, havent really checked out how much he can get and I'm unsure how much this would help with alphas.
c) slot for recharge and live in power surge mode, obviously the most expensive and I'm in no way rich.
d) powersink / lightning field with max end mods and drain enemies that way. I've played a bit with it from 35 to 37, with just 2 end mods in the two powers. I'm not terribly impressed tbh but maybe some of you have had more luck.
So which of these 4 would you go for, or did you go a 5th route on your own brute? Any and all help is appreciated. Thanks -
Gotta admit that Arcanaville knows how to prove a point, heh. Obviously you can't port the results directly to brutes. For instance the higher hp pool for brutes should help elevate the burst killing of defense based characters. Also we didnt see a complete resist set valued in his analysis, closes is invul which is 50/50 defense/resist based. I also think the biggest advantage SR have now is IO's. There is a major difference between a 32% SR brute and a 45% SR brute, essentially the later takes almost 1/4th of the damage the former does.
In addition I am a bit sceptic towards the DA heal. I hear many people talk about how the delayed heal gets them killed more often than not forcing them to heal at a more non-critical point wasting alot of potential. The heal is the reason DA does so well. I reckon that without the heal, DA is the softest of the targets, atleast during the alpha period which I assume makes the DA brute the one that loses the hitpoints the fastest of the 4 sets making it even harder to time that heal correctly.
Disregarding the heal on DA, SR in elude mode (which is effectively the capped 45% defense after i7) is the best of the sets under "maximum mitigation". I am not trying to make the point that it beats dark or any of the other sets, but merely, that with IO's and capped defense it performs better than Arcanaville gives credit for.
We also have remember that brutes play a more tank'ish role which scrappers don't have to. As such that alpha is often from 8 man groups. This, I assume, never played DA, makes it incredibly hard to time that heal. I'd prefer the set that can take the alpha without robotic timing.
Thanks for the link though, seen the post referenced a couple of times, was nice to actually read it. -
[ QUOTE ]
Try comparing 65% resistance to 32.5% defense.
[/ QUOTE ]
An elec brute with tough is at around 60% resistance to S/L, i made it 65% to allow a bit of IO'ing as SR needs around 5-6% from IO'ing to hit 45%. I picked Elec since its a resistance set only.
[ QUOTE ]
Also, you should factor in To Hit buffs and Defense debuffs (i.e. Superflex Man will probably get hit more often).
[/ QUOTE ]
If Superflex Man is a SR brute (he is) he has around 101% resistance to defense debuffs, means he'll rarely get debuffed and even then it wont be by much. Also remember there is resistance debuffs too. I have to assume its an equal game for the two types.
[ QUOTE ]
The 'figures' you have quoted are for even level minions. When AV's/EB's (high accuracy/high damage aggro) have a pop, its a different ball game.
[/ QUOTE ]
Is it? Check this
Scroll down, seems a +3 boss counts as a +5 in lvls compared to you, hence why it gets a 1.5 acc. modifier. I might understand it wrong tho. :/ A +2 AV would be 6 lvls above meaning you'd need 55% defense to floor a +2 AV, 65% for a +3 AV.
Anyway, I'm still confused and not convinced that they are equal. -
Hi all.
I need some explaining on the whole defense vs resistance debate. As far as I can tell defense seems vastly superior to resistance, but in the end I suppose they are somewhat balanced.
Anyway here's what I don't get:
Assuming a +3 boss doing 100 attacks each doing 100 points of damage. Our two characters are Superflex Man with 45% defense and Viva la Resistance with 65% resistance, both within grasp of an SR brute and Elec brute with just minor IO'ing:
Superflex Man:
50% tohit - 45% defense = 5% tohit
5% tohit * 1.5 accuracy = 7.5% tohit
7.5% of 100 attacks = 7.5 attacks hitting
100 damage - 0 resistance = 100 damage per attack
total = 7.5 attacks * 100 damage = 750 damage done
Viva la Resistance:
50% tohit - 0% defense = 50% tohit
50% tohit * 1.5 accuracy = 75% tohit
75% of 100 attacks = 75 attacks hitting
100 damage - 65 resistance = 35 damage per attack
total = 75 attacks * 35 damage = 2625
This means the resistance brute takes almost 4 times as much damage as the defensive brute. Not to mention that a defensive brute will more rarely get mezzes since the mez attacks often miss. It will also help him get off an aid self much more reliable than an resistance brute.
So what am I missing? There has to be something I am missing or else everyone would be defense brutes? -
Okton: Hmm, I've been casting enervating field first, then radiation infection second, mostly because it felt akward waiting 3 seconds before being able to cast the faster one after. I'll definitly try to switch those around, see if it helps (I suppose it should).
Blind_Minotaur : While I do use inspirations and such, I hate the idea that I need to use them to have an effecient character.
BigMike: Cosmic Burst has an extremely nice stun, but doesn't do much being single target attack on large teams.
Guess I'll give her a spin tonight and see if it helps. Thanks lads.
Btw. In mids it says I give -37%'ish to-hit debuff. Does this means that the mobs have around 50-37=13%'ish chance to hit me? Give and take the accuracy, or how does all this work? -
Yo.
I have this ss/wp brute. I was wondering what is best to aim for when IO'ing him out. As I see it I have three options:
1) Go for maxing out hp and regen.
2) Go for maxing recharge so you can footstomp more often.
3) Mix of both.
I am leaning towards #2 as that can lead to alot of double rage'ing, massive aoe damage and alot of mitigation as all mobs are down more. Then again, I am not filthy rich
Any other options I'm missing out? -
Yo all.
I have this level 39 rad/rad corrupter. She's my first and my only corrupter so far. Basically I love and adore her and just about everything about her, her name, the concept, her looks and the way she plays.
However there is a thorn on my rose - mezzes. To be effective I need my two toggles running, you all know that, but with the amount of holds and stuns the enemy throw at me I rarely get to have my second toggle running before I'm stunned.
I've tried waiting a good five second to make sure someone have aggro on everything but I still get stuns thrown at me. It's annoying me to the point where I haven't played my corrupter for ages now and stick to brutes because they don't get mezzed.
So how do you guys stand it? Do you curse at the game? Make toggleless corrupters? Shrug your shoulders and turn on your toggles again?
Please someone enlighten me how to enjoy my corrupter again. -
As I have gotten more familiar with playing the whole mastermind AT I have changed the keybinding slightly. I hit level 34 last night and I can tell you it's simply hell having to use goto on your brute all the freaking time. Anyways, it should be quite obvious what and how you can change it around. I currently have the bruiser commands on E, enforcers on R, all on F and thugs on G. I hardly ever take the thugs out of defensive/follow. I don't have a self heal so I need the BG mode to keep myself from faceplanting all the time, so that is why I moved thugs to G (harder to reach for my fingers). He's mostly a solo character, and I have only died 6-7 times in those 34 levels, even on relentless.
The one-hit-heal thing is starting to annoy me. Atleast for me it seems to occasionally needing two presses to work, say 1 out of 10 times on average. As it DOES work as intented most of the time I am willing to bet it's the game that causes the fault, and not poor binding code on my behalf. -
I got it, its nice to be honest. It's one power and one slot with two dam resist in it. Doesnt need more. On my recently dinged with no sets ss/wp brute it means that I can suddenly solo the 8 man nemesis spawns on battle for tv. I need one to help if I dont have SoW running.. So for me thats a 100% increase in effeciency 2 out of 5 minutes
I run tough too in case you wondered.

Forgot to add that this build takes full advantage of having all the major bonuses maxed out (remember the same bonus can only be applied 5 times). This means it has:
5x 12% regen bonus
5x 10% regen bonus
5x 8% regen bonus
and
5x 1.88% hp bonus
5x 1.50% hp bonus
5x 1.13% hp bonus
Plus some minor bonuses of both kinds.
The only power that "underperforms" is boxing with only 43% acc, rech and end and only 80% dam. This is because it has two low lvl sets in it to provide regen bonuses. Should still be decent enough.
In the end it has 764% regen with 1 enemy around, with 5 (average) is it at 960% and peaking at 1205% with 10 (max) enemies.
Without really having checked prices much, I am suspecting around 400-500 millions to gear up this dude. -
Heya man. The following is what I plan to respec into on my ss/wp. He's 50 alright, but I so lack the cash to buy any of this stuff, maybe in time. Regardless, I went for maximizing regen first, hitpoints second while keeping in theme (no PPP, or similar dirteh tricks). I'm sure this is not the perfect build, but it should provide some insight into how to maximize your regen without having powers that underperform. It should provide a very decent attack chain (without using hurl), aswell as two nukes in the form of stomp and KOblow. I am not 100% done fixing up the spec, e.g. maneuvers at 12 is because I decided to replace hasten (not really into the whole double stacking it). In the end I'd prolly put boxing there instead so tough comes at 28. Or something like that. Power choices are pretty set though, aswell as the slotting for the powers. Here goes:

Yo.
So I just started a thugs/poison MM. After a good 20 lvls I got bored with clicking an injured thug then cliking my heal so I read up a bit on some keybind guides, messed around ingame alot and a couple of hours later I ended up with the following keybinds. Don't really know if this is common knowledge for you guys or not but if I can help out just one guy I guess it's worth it, right?
First off, the following stuff should be put in a normal text file (ie. notepad .txt format) and put in some library, your choice, I just put it where I put it for convinience. Also remember to make sure that there is no extra lines before or after you copy/paste it into the file. I'll explain what it does later in the post.
<font class="small">Code:<hr /><pre>
e petcom_pow Thug Attack Aggressive
lshift+e petcom_pow Thug Follow Defensive
lctrl+e petcom_pow Thug goto
alt+e powexec_name Call Thugs
r petcom_pow Enforcer Attack Aggressive
lshift+r petcom_pow Enforcer Follow Defensive
lctrl+r petcom_pow Enforcer goto
alt+r powexec_name Call Enforcer
f petcom_pow Bruiser Attack Aggressive
lshift+f petcom_pow Bruiser Follow Defensive
lctrl+f petcom_pow Bruiser goto
alt+f powexec_name Call Bruiser
g petcom_all Attack Aggressive
lshift+g petcom_all Follow Defensive
lctrl+g petcom_all goto
f1 "pet_select_name Bruiser$$powexec_name Alkaloid"
f2 "pet_select_name Enforcer$$powexec_name Alkaloid"
f3 "pet_select_name Enforcer$$powexec_name Alkaloid"
f4 "pet_select_name Punk 1$$powexec_name Alkaloid"
f5 "pet_select_name Punk 2$$powexec_name Alkaloid"
f6 "pet_select_name Arsonist$$powexec_name Alkaloid"
lshift+f1 "pet_select_name Bruiser$$powexec_name Equip Thugs"
lshift+f2 "pet_select_name Enforcer$$powexec_name Equip Thugs"
lshift+f3 "pet_select_name Enforcer$$powexec_name Equip Thugs"
lshift+f4 "pet_select_name Punk 1$$powexec_name Equip Thugs"
lshift+f5 "pet_select_name Punk 2$$powexec_name Equip Thugs"
lshift+f6 "pet_select_name Arsonist$$powexec_name Equip Thugs"
</pre><hr />
Then ingame type the following: /bindloadfile "D:\City of Heroes\covbinds\binds.txt"
Okay, here is what it does:
<font class="small">Code:<hr /><pre>
e petcom_pow Thug Attack Aggressive
lshift+e petcom_pow Thug Follow Defensive
lctrl+e petcom_pow Thug goto
alt+e powexec_name Call Thugs
</pre><hr />
First line means that when I press e all my minions will attack my target, and go into aggresive mode.
Second line means that when I press left shift and e all my minions will go into defensive mode (bodyguard) and follow me.
Third line is all minions and the goto command (excellent for melee pets, learn to use it).
Fourth line simply activates the summon power of the minions.
This is repeated for all 3 groups, minions (e), lts (r) and the boss (f) aswell as all pets at once (g).
Also note that this above stuff works on GROUPs, ie, minions, lts and the boss. Other stuff works on names, as explained below. So, no need to change stuff here.
<font class="small">Code:<hr /><pre>
f1 "pet_select_name Bruiser$$powexec_name Alkaloid"
f2 "pet_select_name Enforcer$$powexec_name Alkaloid"
f3 "pet_select_name Enforcer$$powexec_name Alkaloid"
f4 "pet_select_name Punk 1$$powexec_name Alkaloid"
f5 "pet_select_name Punk 2$$powexec_name Alkaloid"
f6 "pet_select_name Arsonist$$powexec_name Alkaloid"
</pre><hr />
This is the magical "one click target and heal"-line. Say I got an enemy selected, then one click of f6 will target my arsonist and throw him a heal. Neat.
The above works on NAMES, so, replace Bruiser/Enforcer/Punk 1 etc. with the names of your pets.
<font class="small">Code:<hr /><pre>
lshift+f1 "pet_select_name Bruiser$$powexec_name Equip Thugs"
lshift+f2 "pet_select_name Enforcer$$powexec_name Equip Thugs"
lshift+f3 "pet_select_name Enforcer$$powexec_name Equip Thugs"
lshift+f4 "pet_select_name Punk 1$$powexec_name Equip Thugs"
lshift+f5 "pet_select_name Punk 2$$powexec_name Equip Thugs"
lshift+f6 "pet_select_name Arsonist$$powexec_name Equip Thugs"
</pre><hr />
Targets chosen pet and casts the buff. NAMES again, so change to match. Once you hit lvl 32 and get the final upgrade, just copy/paste those 6 lines above, change the buff name to match and change the hotkeys to lctrl+f1 - lctrl+f6
The following is the GROUP names for the other type of pets. So remember to replace only in the GROUP section.
<font class="small">Code:<hr /><pre>
Robots: Battle/Protector/Assault
Mercs: Soldier/Spec/Commando
Undeads: Zombie/Grave/Lich
Ninja: Genin/Jounin/Oni
Thugs: Thug/Enforcer/Bruiser
</pre><hr />
So, basically what all this allows me to do is being a tad more flexible with my pets. I can have my bruiser attacking a boss while my lts goes for something else and finally I can have my minions standing in bodyguard mode protecting my skinny a**.
I wrote all this about 5 am in the morning so if you guys can't figure out what I'm rambling about either ignore me or slap me around.
