Quote:Yup... they "ran out" of an intangible item, which is to say they sold as many as they could afford, and shut down the deal prior to the previously established end date. That was for Champs Online Voodoo. $200 and you get a lifetime sub to the game. They ran out of them last weekend though.
If I had a Lifetime sub to CO, I would have been playing it and therefore not had the time for Isos. Since I didn't make it in time, it's On like Donkey Kong. -
Quote:It's like this, GP: some people are addicted to ITFs. They can't help themselves. They deserve our help, not our scorn. We must reach out to these unfortunate individuals and help them say NO to thrice-nightly ITF runs.Is there a reason the target level is 48 and we had a fair amount of people hitting 50 last week? It is possible to turn off xp, people. Run your own stuff if you want, but just turn off the xp if you're farther than everyone else. It's a bit silly for the whole group to be this far apart with all these options available to us.

Quote:Oh, there will be a List™... have no worries about that! While we're at it, I have two requests going into the next Isos.
- The return of the List
- Weekly threads. I didn't really like the whole "one massive thread" thing.
As far as weekly threads go, we voted on it and One Big Thread™ won out. We can do a revote if you want. Since it's unclear whether Voo will be joining us, maybe the OBT option won't get as much support. -

Blue side, Victory, Wednesdays at 8PM EST... you get the idea!
Since Cryptic mysteriously ran out of Lifetime subs I'm probably down for the next version of Isos.
So, what's everyone rolling up? I don't think we'll launch post-I16, but I could be wrong. -

This. The devs disallowed this combination because of Extreme Clipping, I believe. It's a bit much to ask for them to allow it because you were able to preserve the look by never changing your costume.

My WS is pretty amazing. My mom says so, at least.

Quote:NOOOOOOOOOOOoooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo oooNot sure how to break this to you MG, but Chumly and I did level in the 2nd to last mission we ran. He beat me by a few mobs.
And thus a new generation of Cheaters are born. Voodoo still beat you guys to 50, but if you beat Flux then the torch is passed.
A moment of silence while I pour out a 40 oh zee for my dead cheater homies. -
Not sure if I still have mine or not.
EDIT: Still old school! -
It was an honest mistake, but some people (one person?) did get upset.
-
Team Cheater went well last night. I think everyone made a lvl except for Chum and Masque, which is a good thing.
I had to go AFK suddenly and I handed the star to Toril and the team ran the VanGrun arc.
There was some confusion at the end of the night. -
No question buffs and debuffs are over-powered. Castle said as much himself, and said if he could he completely rework the system. But at this point, it would have a major impact on expected gameplay that would totally enrage the playerbase.
Seriously, the only reason they could get away with that crap for PvP is PvPers represented a small portion of the population. The devs reasoned that they'd rather lose the current PvP players and possibly get PvEers to play in a more "balanced" PvP environment then cater to the existing PvP base. -
Quote:Well, I figured the Universal Slots would be immune to the ED cap, but again, this is all baseless speculation... which I excel at.Not as long as there are still overall caps in place and DR on the bonuses. That's what ED really incoporates; even slotted purples are still in check by ED in that regard. Seemingly more so if you exemp to lower levels and really want them more for the set bonuses. I'm not talking about set bonuses being restricted, but the actual reported value of the damage/accuracy/etc of the actual enhancement.
So unless you can buff something beyond the cap/DR restrictions, ED is there. Always. Mocking you.
-
Quote:You don't really need more levels if they give us some way to become more powerful at lvl 50. There are rumors of 10 "Universal Enhancement" slots you can earn that you can add to any power (giving you 7 slots, for example). Finally, the shame of ED can be removed!imho, what can be productive for a 50 to do unless its to get to the next level? i love my main to death but come on, how many times can you do the same thing? thats why i like the AE, new stuff, baddies, new challenges, BUT the influence doesnt count for the badges so i stay away from it with my main 50.
That's the rumor, anyway. -
Quote:Each power has Ranks that you have to take in order, but then there are buffs on the side, but each power has their own set. For example, I chose a perk for my Two-gun Mojo power that lets me do more damage the closer I am to the target. For the Might (Super strength) endurance-builder there was a perk to do more damage to stunned enemies, etc. You get the idea. The way CO handles levelups sounds interesting, with players getting the ability to add their own Procs to powers and level up powers individually. That said, I've only heard generalities about it, it may be as restricted as the Slot/IO system CoH already has, which would be disappointing.
Quote:I've also heard that CO is far less focused on "classes", with characters being able to semi-specialize in anything (like grabbing a random heal to help out with teaming) at the expense of just losing a few percentage off of your blasts. Dunno if this is true. Apparently a side effect is that it's very solo friendly, with no characters getting stuck in the "painful to solo" category, but also never really encourages teaming at all. The same complaint was leveled at CoH back in the day though (especially from ex-Everquest players that aren't having fun unless the game is randomly punishing them), and it didn't really hurt the game. -

I lost points for "replying to a PK thread".

Quote:New stuff... 5 total zones. The Millennium City Zone is supposed to be huge, but still...I really hope GR has a LOT of content... I think that's about the biggest thing CO has going for it against CoX, since it's all new stuff.
Right now, CoX is definitely the better game. CO has the novelty going for it, and some really cool travel powers, but that's about it... I think I16 will probably do power customization better as well, which is sad.
I'm on the fence about going Lifetime with the game currently, but I'm playing the Open Beta as much as possible to see if I can play it over the long haul. -
Quote:I agree, GP. I think you will get XP appropriate to your level, meaning: If you're a lvl 40 exemped down to 20, and you defeat a lvl 21 mob, you will get the same XP you would as if you defeated a lvl 41 un-exemped. If they don't do this, it will discourage people from teaming with characters lower than your own.Lastly, do we know how much xp you will get when exemping down? You're talking like it will automatically be lower than you would get at higher levels, but I haven't heard any evidence of that, and it would make more sense for the devs to keep the xp the same as if you had not exemped down.

Quote:Since possession of alien weaponry is illegal, actually using the suit would have brought down the wrath of the MNU as well as other military forces. We saw that despite the advanced technology of the suit, it is not invulnerable to conventional weaponry. One point I really didn't understand was why make a biomech suit which has all these cool ways of killing people and then offer to trade it in for a bunch of cat food, instead of just get in the mech suit and TAKE the cat food. Surely they knew they were being taken advantage of by the Nigerians.
Better to give the weapon to someone you know can't use it, but will give you large quantities of narcotics in exchange.
