    In all honestly, I'm underwhelmed with what we heard out of Hero Con, too. Ultra graphics mode? If I wanted pretty graphics I'd be playing CO (yeah, I went there). New sets? We've known about these for ages, and it's only two Primaries. Side switching? Again, they're just putting some details to gameplay we've known about forever. New Enemy Groups? Intriguing for sure... but I was hoping for more than what we saw.

    My hopes for GR are pinned on all the new content that'll be in there, and that content is really hard to evaluate until you try it in Closed Beta. In a completely uncharacteristic move, I'm withholding judgement on GR until I actually play with it for a bit.

    I don't think you understand. Praetoria is a whole new City's worth of content. You can be a Hero or Villain, go there and do lots of stuff and never change sides. Hell, you can roll a new Praetorian toon and not even deal with side-switching... you just pick your allegiance (Loyalist or Resistance) and (I think..) that determines whether you can visit Paragon (and become a Hero) or the Isles (and become a Villain).

    You don't need to touch the side-switching mechanic to enjoy the vast majority of the new Praetorian content.

  10. Aw, no need to apologize, GP. I'm not very well slotted out, so even with everyone buffing me my resists were around 44%, and with no self heal that's a recipe for disaster taking the alphas. In terms of my survivability it was Danaan->Caps->Cabal. Those witches tore me to piece with energy damage and end drain...

    I need to do some cheating to catch up with you guys.

    Yeah, definitely a Natural booster. Martial Arts is one of the more logical Natural power sets.

    That's how I understood it as well, which makes staying V/R even more appealing.

    As far as the "smuggler" scenario, it sounds like it will take a decent amount of effort to go from Full Hero to Full Villain, so I don't think many people will do it specifically for profiting from the opposite-side market.
  14. Posi's recent clarifying comments make it pretty clear that the only downside to playing a Vigilante/Rogue is not being able to use the market:

  20. I would assume V/Rs can use all contacts, join all TFs/SFs, probably enter bases. I'm not sure about O-zone, but I would assume they can use the O-zone on the side they're on. To switch sides I think they're going to make you go through Praetoria.

    If there are restrictions on actual content when you're V/R, then it becomes pointless. If there are no restrictions (aside from the market), then I see no reason (again, except RP reasons) why one wouldn't want to stay V/R forever.

    Thanks for the update, Sarrate. I watched the video but I didn't get that switching sides went further than Vigilante/Rogue. However, if Vigilantes and Rogues get access to both sides with the only restriction that they can't use the opposite-Market, I don't know why (absent RP reasons) everyone wouldn't want to walk the line all the time. We still haven't heard about the benefits of staying true to your initial moral compass, but I don't see how it could compete with all the extra content you get from straddling both sides.

    The Devs keep saying "several zones". Do the Doomers imagine these zones will be devoid of contacts and missions?

    What we've heard so far is really the icing on the cake as far as I'm concerned. The meat of GR is the new zones, contacts, arcs, etc.

    I don't even understand how this will work. Do Vigilantes and Rogues have access to both sides, or only the opposite side they started on?     So many questions because of that one statement. I don't know why the devs insist on keeping the market separate once side switching is in play.
