    PAX Report

Just got back from the panel. Lady Sadako pretty much has it all live on my City Life thread, but here's a recap:

Two New GR Sets: Kinetic Melee and Electric Control

KM is supposed to be a "punchy" set, but it looked more Ken & Ryu to me. I almost thought it was ranged based on the video they showed.

4 New Zones in Paretoria... can't remember all the names but there was Nova Praetoria, Imperial City, and The Underground. EDIT: The fourth zone is Neutropia, the technological part of the city.

Comments were made about War Walls being gone, but I don't know if that meant for Paragon City or Praetoria.

Issue 19: INCARNATES... this is the end-game Posi has been working on. We'll get a preview of the first "level" of Incarnate stuff (there are 10) in GR. It's supposed to be challenging high end content with cool rewards. Some of it may be zone event based from what I heard.

Uh... Issue 17 stuff: Dopplegangers are the new enemy and the new enemy is YOU! They added tech so that they can make you fight yourself. They can even make your whole team fight your whole team. They can tweak costumes, sets, or just use your default stuff. Sounded extremely cool!

That's all I can think of for now... very awesome stuff.
  2. Sadako has lightning fingers... GR + Incarnates = AWESOME!
  3. Wow, people are lining up for the CoH panel already and it's an hour away!
  4. Here's the site: http://goingrogue.na.cityofheroes.co...ented-reality/

I don't have a webcam, though. I'm guessing you have to take a pic of the Statesman helmet.

Wow, so that's why that BNL song is called Grade 9... I never knew!
  7. Whew... I almost didn't make it.

Will be there with bells on.

This is empirically true. We don't know where the game would be today if it had a fully staffed dev team these past six years and they released three meaty Issues every year with at least one full new zone, new enemy groups, new sets, new tile sets, new play styles, etc. I imagine it would be in much better shape, but we don't know. As it was, the dev team was gutted shortly after CoV launched, so we're lucky to still be going.

That's not an opinion; it's a well documented fact that bind on acquire is moronic.

EVE Online is about as niche as you can get. It's a small niche, within a niche. It has more than 3 times our numbers and it started with about 19k players. That wasn't an accident. Nor did it happen because CCP had a huge fanbase before the game was even launched. They took a game that was bug filled and messy at launch, and with no publisher, brought it far past what COX has ever achieved. That should be a smack in the face to us.
We're more niche than EVE Online. Games where you command your own starfleets are as old as the hills, and with everyone on one server EVE offers an epic PVP experience that is unmatched in any MMO.

Saying EVE is niche is like saying STO is niche.
  11. I'm not interested in CoX being the Top MMO. The devs would need to add real, non-optional, degradable lewtz, they would gut our instances in favor of open world content, raids would become de riguer, debuffs would be radically reduced in favor of ally buffs and ZOMGTEHHEALZ, PvP would play a much more prominent role, and as a result the game would be far less casual.

CoX is a niche game that appeals to enough people to be profitable. I'm happy with it continuing this way as long as possible.
  12. I'd love to join this with my Bots/Traps MM but I'll be chillin' with Posi and WW at that time.
  13. It sounds like the Devs won't get credit for any TFs (PFs?) in Praetoria, because both Heroes and Villains will have access to them...
  14. The Don't Let Crimson Escape mission is one of the few (is it the only?) missions where you have to catch a bolting EB. I've finished it on teams, but it's tough. You need to stack immobs (like... alot!) and even then he'll break out of it pretty quick.

I enjoy the mission because it's a real challenge in a game that has few. I do think it could be tweaked to make Crimson a) not so fast, and b) a little less uber-resistant to immobs/slows.

My regular attacks are slotted for recharge, it's just that mobs died too quickly to build up a head of steam. The Rommy fight is the one case where you could easily build up Fury (assuming you lived long enough).
  16. I'm so proud that Isos lead the way in deaths!

Also... I forgot Viking's build, but I know that Ham, Flux and I were all Elec/Elec. Coincidence? I think not!
  17. My theory is that our damage output was hampered by lack of Fury. We killed stuff fast enough that my bar didn't fill unless I was swamped by mobs, and, since I'm Electric Armor, that usually resulted in my death. My toon pre-dated the self-heal power, so I didn't have it properly slotted out.

I wonder if we had tried filling of Fury bars before zerging Rommy we could have taken him down at least once. I think we'd still have had issues with the second and third attempts, but it might be worth a shot for the next Brutal ITF run.

Saving the world from nuclear destruction is a great end, and great ends require great sacrifices. Was it humane of him to do what he did? by no means it wasn't, but you don't accomplish great things (such as saving the world) by being humane.

He sacrificed millions to save billions, the needs of the majority outweigh the needs of the minority. And that's like the textbook definition of justice and fairness
    That's insane.

Even if he did save the world (and whether he did is completely open to interpretation based on John's comment in the comic book, at least) he'd still be evil. He killed a million innocent people as a ruse that might have prevented armageddon. He used them for his own ends. His ultimate objective becomes irrelevant at that point.

Ozy was a bad, bad, man with good intentions.

It's situational... Ozymandius from Watchmen meant well and did very, very, bad... he's evil.
  21. My Brute is ready and waiting in Cim. I had to adjust his power colors (different colors for each outfit)... he hasn't be online in 313 days!

    What?

EDIT: Okay, one of those was yours... I couldn't make the Scrapper run because we went out for a movie.
  23. So is Brutal Friday a definite at this point? I'm 0 for 4 on Ham's recent All-one-AT-teams runs, either because of power outage or GP's meddling... I'd like to get in one, at least.
  24. Target Level: 13ish

I just can't take the uncertainty.
