You saw this as a step that can be built on, you say. You can see my POV, taken overall with everything else (Myspace, news going to *other sites* first, the lack of attention given to this site) -
I see it as another step *away* from doing anything with this site, and *away* from keeping a coherent community. Again... why did they use a site I, and I'm sure many others, had never heard of before the Hami news?
If the replies here saddened you, think of what all these steps have done to me. I know you know well enough how annoyed and upset I am at NCSoft's handling of this site in general. I've said it enough here, and on the other site.
Honestly, showing "interest" there, IMHO, would do more to kill this site than the reaction that's been given.

I don't know anymore... I just... I don't know and I'm not really sure why I cared. I've told you elsewhere, we are slowly losing what made us a small niche. That's probably what gets me the most.
Whatever. the first impression is already done and over with. Like most things, I'm just beating my head against the wrong wall... I should be used to it by now but it still surprises me sometimes.
Good luck ya'll.

Well, if they'd done this when they started, so our expectations were *set* that X was the "official art" site, Y was the "official news" site, it would have far less of a "Yeah, well, here, go over there and quit bugging me" feel to it.
.. .but again, we see the Euro site, then we see ours... -

I don't see why asking for NC Soft to have a real fanart section on their website is asking them to "bend over backwards" for us.
This game is about the community, and www.cityofheroes.com does not take one effort to show off their community, it just links to old news. This is what the art forum is concerned about, and giving us some off-shoot website that newcomers will have to do some serious digging to find is in no way, shape, or form what City of Heroes needs.
[/ QUOTE ]
I have to say something here, having *tried* to stay out of this.
This isn't about the fanart community. This is about the *ENTIRE* community. News? Go to another site first. Fanart? Who the *heck* is Curse-Gaming? I never heard of them before the I9 feature announcement. I'd be less irritated if it were a site the community, if not the gaming world in gneral, had heard of before.
My post in Suggestions and Ideas saying "Give some love to the OFFICIAL site!" - have the rednames looked? I don't know. But I have *pages* of people saying "Yeah... why isn't that being done?"
Instead, we have "News exclusive on Gamespot, on Warcry, on this than and the other!" "Artists, go over there!" "Here's a list of links to everyone else!"
I honestly expect, within two months, to have an announcement, "Guess what! Our forums are now hosted by Forums-R-Us! Go there!"
I also expect pressure to be put on that we in the community DON'T know about to start "toning down" the European site. Just so we don't keep using them as examples to show what the US site *could* be like. Could, hell, SHOULD be like. I'd compare the Korean site, but not being able to read Korean, I can't say how good or bad the content there is.
The EU site looks like one done by a company that actually wants involvement with their community.
Our site looks like one thrown together, that's getting pieces thrown elsewhere because it's in a state of being dismantled.
NCSoft - not Lighthouse in particular, as mentioned, he's the messenger - should be ashamed of themselves. -
you may actually want to post this in "Player Questions."
That said, when you log in and see the list of servers, there will be a series of dots next to them. They show server load. The most commonly "full" ones are Freedom and Virtue - Virtue is more of a RP server, but unlike some games, there are no naming or behaviour rules there to enforce this, it's an "unofficial" sort of status. -

1. good original post.
2. fly+tp is much better than fly alone. and in the fly+tp combo, tp is the more important part.
[/ QUOTE ]
And the reverse can be interesting - TP+Fly, or rather hover. Many TPers will have this "just in case" of lag, or needing to stop midair for something.
I've got a 50 Elec/Elec who's *severely* underspecced for PVP - purely PVE, hit fifty in Issue 4, never tweaked (still has Phase Shift from whens he first took it.)
Yet I've managed to TP up, attack, have someeone start flying away damaged, TP twice, hover in front and snipe them for a defeat.
Edit:
Personally, I think you should add a "It's not fair!" section... things like using inspirations and whatnot. They're there, they're meant to be used. Had a Brute complain my PB wouldn't stay in range at one point (IS, swap to dwarf, beat on him a bit, TP up, hit nova while he's down on the ground, fire away.) I told him flat out "I will use everything available to me to defeat you, and I expect you to do the same."
Does it get frustrating sometimes? Sure. So catch the person hitting a bunch of purples as they're running back to the base in BB, or as they try to reach the door in the other zones. -
Heh...
*noogies the lemur, ties a carp to him, runs*
That's so much more fun than flaming him.One of these days I actually need to finish levelling my original MB over here...
-
woo, happy birthday!
*pours drinks on TA*
... what, you said it was all on you... -
Ooh, nice job... I'd say the second, actually - with her looking back and the (to me) stronger light source, it gives a bit more of that "caught in the act" look I was talking about, like someone just came round the corner and swung a light their way.
At least it looks like a stronger light to me...
... though on the other hand the first does give an out-of-the-way, "What was that..."
... hmm... -
Cute Hexy...
Hmm. Half-hour-challenge, anyone? See what you can whip out in that time? -
Wait... it says it's them in their trenchcoat outfits....
Awful thin trenchcoats. >.< -
I really wish I could edit these with a longer timeframe. These might be worth looking at for those of you interested:
The archives of the COH website - aka the "Wayback machine."
Earliest archive, Oct 17 2001
And the first page with archived descriptions of the original seven origins
Even a look at what they were showing for their engine and tools. -
Looks good... I think part of what might be giving that "curtain" look people are mentioning are the static snowflakes on the side versus the ... what to call it, "whoosh?" in the middle.
What to do that goes with the hair and cape motion, though... if you don't mind losing snowflake detail, there's always just swirling flurries... -
Design Diaries - Statesman
Development Journal - Rick Dakan
(Edit - trying something in case the URL length is somehow breaking UBB... even if it's not, the tiny ones won't break the forum.) -
Not totally black, but - are you planning on using this in something? Just finding something solid color (that isn't close to a costume color) should work...
Unfortunately, most of the places I can think of are grey of one hue or another. (Walls, DA mist.) -

Well get a tank in there. Memphis Bill can use one. Because he seems to think his scrapper is one
[/ QUOTE ]
In my own defense, I'd like to point out that the other two versions of MB *are* tanks... That and I play my WS a lot, so "Rush into group and buff" is pretty much etched in my mind...
I know. No Inky Aspect, Eclipse, or Mires.
And if you want a bigger group shot from just before we logged, here ya go. -
On the other hand, the "futz around" people are important too. People who get used to testing end up doing somewhat predictable things. People there to goof around? Who knows what they'll do... it's there to be broken before it goes live.
-
Ooh... *thumbs up* just for mentioning the Rickenbacker.
(I miss my bass... wasn't one of those, but I did want one...)
-
Might sound like an odd thing to have draw attention, but... nice claws.

Also having to do the event multiple times per character is also pretty annoying when you have multiple characters.
[/ QUOTE ]
You didn't have to do the event multiple times - you chose to do the event multiple times. Nobody forced you.
[/ QUOTE ]
Personally, I chose *not* to because of the tediousness.
